NXT on February 7, 2018, was a good show that is building up characters, storylines, and feuds down the road. Let’s break it down:
Before I talk about the show, I just have to say that it’s great to see Nigel McGuinness back on the NXT commentary team as he was out for a while due to being under the weather so great to see him as he joined Mauro Ranallo and Percy Watson on the commentary booth as they talk about this show.
We start off the show with Undisputed Era Vs. SAnitY for the NXT Tag Team Championships and it never happened as once Undisputed Era made their entrance, they got attacked by behind from SAnitY as both teams brawled in the ring as referees and security came in to try to break up the brawl. Killian Dain took out a few security as he went after Undisputed Era before Undisputed Era retreated to the stage.
William Regal then came out and said enough is enough and that this feud will finally end on this show as it will be SAnitY Vs. Undisputed Era in a six-man tornado tag team match! Mark out moment! Wow, we haven’t had a tornado tag team match in NXT for a couple of years now so it’s great to see another one and I can’t wait to see these two teams kill each other in the ring.
Great segment as I’m excited about SAnitY Vs. Undisputed Era in a six-man tornado tag team match later on the show.
Heavy Machinery Vs. God-Gifted Athletes was a good tag team match. We get a recap of what happened last month when God-Gifted Athletes stole a victory from Heavy Machinery as Heavy Machinery looked to get their revenge on their previous loss. It’s great to see recaps like this to show why these two teams are feuding in the first place. Anyway, back to the match itself.
God-Gifted Athletes did well in this match as they were trying to get another victory for Heavy Machinery, but there was some tension between the two as they were tagging each other hard. The dropkick from Tino Sabbatelli on Tucker Knight was impressive and Tino Sabbatelli was about to get the win for his team by putting his feet on the middle rope while pinning Otis Dozovic, but the referee saw it so it was no nice dice for them. Heavy Machinery also did well in this match as they continue to show their athletic ability in the ring. The elbow drop with Worm Dance theatrics from Otis Dozovic to Tino Sabbatelli was impressive to watch and Tucker Knight hit a nice cannonball senton to Riddick Moss on the outside. Good work by both teams here.
The ending of the match came when Heavy Machinery hit The Compactor (Piggyback falling powerslam) on Tino Sabbatelli for the pin and win. A good win for Heavy Machinery as they got their revenge on God-Gifted Athletes for their loss last month. Shake and weights!
After the match, Riddick Moss went up to Tino Sabbatelli as Tino Sabbatelli extended his hand towards Riddick Moss to get his help, but Riddick Moss shook his head and left Tino Sabbatelli as Tino Sabbatelli looked disbelief with the reaction of Riddick Moss.
Riddick Moss’ reaction to Tino Sabbatelli is quite reasonable as Tino Sabbatelli was making a big deal out of himself as he felt like he didn’t care for Riddick Moss. However, I really don’t want to see this tag team break up as I feel like this tag team has a lot of potential. However, we’ll see what happens.
Good tag team match as I’m hoping that God-Gifted Athletes won’t break up from this.
The segment between Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, Andrade “Cien” Almas, and Zelina Vega was great. Johnny Gargano came out to the ring as he talked about how he felt his match at NXT Philadelphia was the match of his life and he thanked the fans for giving him respect. He then said that whether he has the title or not, he finally figured out who he is and he is “Johnny Wrestling”. He then said that he will never forget NXT Philadelphia because of the attack from Tommaso Ciampa as he hit him in the back with his crutch and he wants to go after him man-to-man.
As Johnny Gargano was about to continue, Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega came out and interrupted him as they entered the ring. Zelina Vega told Johnny Gargano that he didn’t learn or prove anything expect that he’s still a loser as he lost Andrade “Cien” Almas three times in a row as she called him Johnny Loser.
Johnny Gargano then told Zelina Vega that his second favorite part of NXT Philadelphia was when Candice LeRae came in and beat up Zelina Vega. Zelina Vega then began to poke fingers at Johnny Gargano until Candice LeRae came in as she pushed Zelina Vega out of the ring and Johnny Gargano punched Andrade “Cien” Almas out of the ring as Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega were outside of the ring and headed up the stage.
Zelina Vega then told Johnny Gargano as she and Andrade “Cien” Almas are sick of Johnny Gargano and they want him gone as Johnny Gargano told Zelina Vega if they want him gone, he wants another shot at the NXT Championship. Zelina Vega then said that she’ll give Johnny Gargano another shot at Andrade “Cien” Almas, but if he does, he will leave NXT for good and Johnny Gargano agreed.
Wow, I didn’t expect Johnny Gargano to put up his NXT career on the line for this match. He must be really desperate to win. I don’t know if he can do it, but I hope he wins as I don’t want Johnny Gargano to leave NXT just yet. Looking forward to the rematch between the two which should be amazing.
Great segment as I’m looking forward to the rematch between Andrade “Cien” Almas and Johnny Gargano for the NXT Championship.
The backstage interview with Shayna Baszler earlier in the show was good. Shayna Baszler talked about how it took her one month for her to become the most feared woman on the NXT women’s roster as they have three choices when anyone steps in the ring with her, they either tap, nap, or snap.
An interviewer then asked Shayna Baszler on what’s next for her as she said there’s no what’s next as she believed that Ember Moon is scared of her and if they get in the ring again, she will beat her as she’s not a real champion and tell Ember Moon that she said that as she left.
Man, Shayna Baszler must be really full of herself, but I don’t blame her as she’s been unstoppable as of late. We’ll see if we get a rematch between Ember Moon and Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Championship down the line. Good backstage interview here.
We then get an announcement that next week, it will be Pete Dunne Vs. Roderick Strong for the WWE United Kingdom Championship. Looking forward to that match next week, it should be amazing.
The backstage interview with Tyler Bate was good. Tyler Bate talked about he gives Roderick Strong for beating him last week, but he’s looking to watch the WWE United Kingdom Championship next week because he has an eye to get that belt back around his waist. He then talked about how he was extremely happy that he won 2017 NXT Match of the Year and he’s hoping to make match of the year matches with the current NXT roster in 2018.
So far, not a good year for Tyler Bate, but it seems like he’s trying to get back on track and get back in the game so let’s see how that works out for him. Good backstage interview here.
Jessix Hill Vs. Bianca Belair was a great women’s squash match. Bianca Belair continues to show that she is a future star in the NXT women’s division.
Jessix Hill didn’t get any offense at all in this match as Bianca Belair completely dominated her as she finished off Jessix Hill with the Alley Oop for the pin and win. A good win for Bianca Belair as she’s looking to become a future contender for the NXT Women’s Championship.
Great women’s squash match and I can’t wait to see what NXT does next with Bianca Belair.
We then get a vignette on Kairi Sane as it showed her career in NXT as well as her appearance on the Women’s Rumble match. Nice to see that NXT is high on Kairi Sane and I can’t wait to see her again as I have a feeling she will get her revenge on Shayna Baszler whenever they meet each other again.
We then get an announcement that next week, Aleister Black will return to action as well as Ember Moon Vs. Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Championship. Should be an interesting week next week. Looking forward to it.
SAnitY Vs. Undisputed Era in a six-man tornado tag team match was excellent. Mark out moment! Both of these teams went out there and destroyed each other and it was fun to watch.
Undisputed Era did excellent in this match as they want to get rid of SAnitY once and for all. The running double knee drop from Kyle O’Reilly from the ring apron to the floor on Alexander Wolfe, while he was sitting on the chair, was well executed. The moonsault from Bobby Fish on Killian Dain was beautifully executed. The superkicks from Adam Cole on SAnitY looked like it knocked everyone’s teeth out. The leg lariat/legsweep combination from Undisputed Era on Alexander Wolfe was well executed. The vertical suplex onto a knee by Adam Cole on Eric Young looked devastating. Excellent work by Undisputed Era here.
SAnitY did excellent in this match as well as they want to get revenge on Undisputed Era for everything they have done to them. The way Killian Dain threw Bobby Fish off the stage onto everyone on the floor was cool to see. The cannonball senton from Killian Dain to the outside was impressive, but he ended up going through a table as Adam Cole rolled out of the way. The Michinoku from Killian Dain on Kyle O’Reilly on top of Bobby Fish was extremely impressive as well as his running senton and running front missile dropkick on Adam Cole and Bobby Fish. Excellent work by SAnitY here.
The ending of the match came when Killian Dain hit Bobby Fish with Ulster Plantation (One-handed electric chair driver) for the pin and win. A great win for SAnitY as they finally got their revenge on Undisputed Era since NXT Brooklyn III. Chaos!
Excellent six-man tornado tag team match as I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next for SAnitY and Undisputed Era in NXT.
Overall, a good show that is building up characters, storylines, and feuds down the road. Next week, we will get Pete Dunne Vs. Roderick Strong for the WWE United Kingdom Championship, Aleister Black will be action, and Ember Moon Vs. Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Championship which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
