WWE NXT

Hello everyone, this is Vaude Influence.

This will probably be my last review of NXT for a while as I am coming back to watch NXT live this week.

Also, sorry for the delay since I have finals last week. Anyway, enough about that, let’s get onto the review.

NXT on May 18, 2016 was a good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future at the next NXT live special on June 8. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a vignette of the history between Bayley and Nia Jax. This was good as it shows what happened between these two and it shows why these two are fighting in the main event later on the show. Love that they went back to their history since their match at NXT London, that was a nice touch. Can’t wait for their match later on the show since their match at NXT London was great. Well-produced vignette here.

Austin Aries and Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. BAM Factor was a good tag team match. I really thought at first that Austin Aries’ tag team partner would be Bobby Roode because I have a feeling that NXT signed Bobby Roode to a contract and plus, the crowd was even chanting his name as well so I assumed it was him. However, to my surprise, it was “The King of Strong Style” Shinsuke Nakamura! Wow, Shinsuke Nakamura and Austin Aries as a tag team is a dream team, that’s awesome. However, I prefer them to face each other and we might get that, but we’ll see.

The match itself was basically Austin Aries and Shinsuke Nakamura dominating BAM Factor throughout most of the match. The chemistry between Austin Aries and Shinsuke Nakamura as a tag team was pretty good as they did some cool tag team moves with each other. However, it seems like they’re not fully in sync with each other because towards the end of the match, Shinsuke Nakamura was about to hit Murphy with the Kinshasa, but Austin Aries wants to make a tag to Shinsuke Nakamura to get in the match. Instead of Shinsuke Nakamura tagging Austin Aries in, he did his own thing by hitting the Kinshasa on Murphy to get the pin and win for his team. It seems like this may be the cause of the tension between Shinsuke Nakamura and Austin Aries, but they were okay with each other after the match so who knows at this point. Only time will tell.

After the match, Alexa Bliss was furious to BAM Factor for losing their match to the point where she had enough and left them by themselves. After Alexa Bliss left, Blake left as well leaving Murphy all alone.

So it seems like BAM Factor will split up. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! NXT, you can’t split them up now! You need more tag teams in NXT and with The Certified Gs and The Vaudevillains gone, you need BAM Factor more than ever! Why?!

Okay, in a sense, I can understand why they broke up. BAM Factor has been on a losing streak as of late and at this point, something needs to change for them so this happens. However, that doesn’t mean that I’ll like it. I can understand having Alexa Bliss on her own because she has been by herself as of late so having Alexa Bliss on her own is fine. However, with Blake and Murphy, it’s a whole different story as I don’t see them being viable singles wrestlers as of now. Maybe in the future, but not now as NXT needs more tag teams at the moment. So with BAM Factor gone, we only have four tag teams in NXT. That includes American Alpha, The Revival, Hype Bros, and Wrestling Killers. So NXT, make more tag teams! Now, I understand why they did it, that doesn’t mean I like it so this actually upsets me. Good bye BAM Factor, you guys were great. Hope you guys reform someday.

Good tag team match and I’m interested to see if there is any tension between Shinsuke Nakamura and Austin Aries in the near future. Also, I am very upset that BAM Factor split up, hope they reform someday. Till then, I wish them luck going on separate paths.

The backstage interview with Bayley by Cathy Kelley was pretty good. Bayley says that she is not intimidated by Nia Jax and she will not let Nia Jax bully her way into getting what she wants. Bayley thinks that Nia Jax is tough, but she beat her at NXT London and she will do it again. After she’s done with Nia Jax, she’s coming for Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship next.

This promo really shows how great Bayley is as a character. She knows how tough Nia Jax is, but that doesn’t stop her from doing whatever it takes to win as she has heart. She did that at NXT London so she has a chance to do it again later on the show. It seems like this match is billed like a #1 Contender’s match which I’m all for because both of these women have a legit claim of being the next #1 Contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. Either way, one of those two would be great challengers for Asuka’s NXT Women’s Championship. I’m looking forward to Bayley Vs. Nia Jax later on the show. Good backstage interview here.

We then get a video package of Asuka during her whole career in NXT with the song Mayhem by Halestorm. This is good as it really highlights Asuka as she is the NXT Women’s Champion. Asuka has a great career in NXT so far as she has accomplished a lot in such a short span of time. I’m looking forward to see who Asuka will feud with next for the NXT Women’s Championship in the near future whether it be Bayley or Nia Jax. It will be interesting to see. Good video package here.

The backstage interview with No Way Jose by Cathy Kelley was good. No Way Jose says that he has high energy and a positive attitude with a pretty good smile. He says that he’s going to have a fiesta in NXT as he starts to dance with Cathy Kelley laughing as he leaves.

No Way Jose has been a pretty good character so far who is getting very over with the crowd as of late. Will be very interesting to see who No Way Jose will feud with first in NXT. No Way Jose! Good backstage interview here.

The interview with Carmella was pretty good. Carmella talks about how proud she is with The Certified Gs’ success in WWE so far and even though they’re living their dream, she has a dream of her own and that is to become NXT Women’s Champion.

Great to see that Carmella has goals of her own in NXT. Even though she could be with The Certified Gs in WWE at the moment, she decided to stay in NXT in order to become better. For that, Carmella has a lot of respect for me. Will be interesting to see how Carmella does on her own in NXT. Good interview here.

Carmella Vs. Peyton Royce was a good women’s match. Great to see Peyton Royce back on NXT. So far, I’m very interested in “The Venus Fly Trap” character that Peyton Royce has and I want to see more of it. Hope she gets a push in NXT in the near future.

Even though Peyton Royce didn’t win the match, she did get some pretty good offense in this match. The sooner Peyton Royce gets pushed, the better.

Carmella did pretty well here by herself. Love the moveset that she has with the rope-aided hurricanrana, superkick, reverse STO, and the modified figure-four headscissors. So far, it seems like Carmella is doing fine on her own and it will be interesting to see who Carmella will feud with first in NXT. Bada bing! Hottest chick in the ring! How you doin’?!

Good women’s match and I can’t wait to see what Carmella does next in NXT, and NXT, push Peyton Royce!

We then a recap of what happened between Samoa Joe and Finn Balor at a NXT live event in Portland, Oregon. Both Samoa Joe and Finn Balor are fighting each other after the match which leads to the NXT locker room trying to break up the fight. Then, once it looks like the fighting is over, it continues with Finn Balor hitting the suicide somersault senton onto Samoa Joe and a part of the NXT roster. Finn Balor then holds the NXT Championship and says that it’s his.

On Facebook live, William Regal speaks with Samoa Joe and Finn Balor about their match at the next NXT live special being a definitive end to to their feud. He then announces that at the next NXT live special, for the first time ever in NXT history, it will be Samoa Joe Vs. Finn Balor for the NXT Championship inside a Steel Cage match.

Samoa Joe says that he’ll sign the contract first and that Finn Balor won’t be victorious at the next NXT live special. Finn Balor promises Samoa Joe that at the next NXT live special, this feud will end and he will be the first ever 2x NXT Champion.

So we’re getting a steel cage match between Samoa Joe and Finn Balor for the NXT Championship at the next NXT live special, mark out moment! NXT is making history once again and this time, it’s a Steel Cage match! I’m pretty sure that both Samoa Joe and Finn Balor will utilize the steel cage and make that match excellent. Plus, I love that they’re continuing their feud in NXT live events which makes the NXT live events feel very important. So for you NXT fans/marks, if NXT is in your area, please attend their shows because you might miss something special.

I’m expecting another excellent match between the two and with it being a Steel Cage match, I expect a lot of violence in this match and it’s going to be brutal. I can’t wait for the NXT live special on June 8th, it’s going to excellent. Great recap here.

The backstage segment between BAM Factor was pretty good even though I’m not very happy about it. Alexa Bliss tells Blake and Murphy that she wants to be more successful and win the NXT Women’s Championship, but she can’t do that with Blake and Murphy holding her down. Alexa Bliss leaves as both Blake and Murphy stare at each other.

Man, it seems like it’s the end for BAM Factor right here. I am very upset and sad that they’ll be breaking up and going their separate ways, but I wish every member in BAM Factor the best in their singles careers. Good backstage segment here even though I don’t like the outcome of it.

Wrestling Killers Vs. Danny Burch and Rob Ryzin was a good tag team match. Oh my god! Danny Burch has made another appearance in NXT! Mark out moment! Glad to see Danny Burch back. As for Rob Ryzin, I didn’t know he still wrestles as I don’t see him wrestle a lot as of late so I was kind of surprised. Good to see him there though. They did well in this match despite losing.

Yep, I have given a tag team name for Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa, Wrestling Killers. Not a bad tag team name if I do say so myself. Anyway, Wrestling Killers did pretty well in this match showcasing their tag team moves and that superkick/running knee to the back of the head combination looks devastating. With The Certified Gs and The Vaudevillains gone from NXT, they need tag teams more than ever and with Wrestling Killers in the mix, it’s very needed. Can’t wait to see who Wrestling Killers will feud with first in NXT. Psycho Killer! Johnny Wrestling!

Good tag team match and interested to see where Wrestling Killers go from here.

William Regal announces backstage that at the next NXT live special, it will be American Alpha Vs. The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Championships.

So we’re going to get American Alpha Vs. The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Championships at the next NXT live special, awesome! That should be a great match since their match at NXT Dallas was great. Looking forward to the match in three weeks, should be great. Yeah! Ready… willing… and Gable!

Bayley Vs. Nia Jax was a good women’s match. Even though this match wasn’t as great as their match at NXT London, this match still told a very good story with a David Vs. Goliath type of story.

Nia Jax being that dominant monster heel and Bayley being that ultimate underdog babyface, it just works well together which made a good storytelling match.

It was a good back and forth match, but in the end, Nia Jax came out on top as she took advantage of Bayley’s leg injury and finished her off with two leg drops with one of the bad leg and one on the back of the head.

Wow, I hope Bayley is okay after that match because it looked like she literally hurt her leg during that match. However, if it’s a work, Bayley did a great job selling that injury so props to her if it’s a work. If it’s not, then I hope Bayley gets better soon. Till then, Bayley, get better soon! *Hugs*

Nia Jax has been on a dominant streak as of late and with this victory over Bayley, I could definitely see Nia Jax as the next #1 Contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. Asuka Vs. Nia Jax for the NXT Women’s Championship should be interesting to see if it does happen at the next NXT live special. Looking forward to that match if it happens.

Good women’s match and interested to see if Nia Jax is going to be the next contender for Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship. Also, get better soon Bayley!

Overall, good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. The road to the next NXT live special is upon us and I can’t wait for the show. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
