NXT 3/7/18 Review: Fade to Black into Chaos

Published

on

NXT on March 7, 2018, was a great show that is building up characters, storylines, and feuds for the near future. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package hyping up the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic as the first-round match of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic begins with TM-61 Vs. Authors of Pain. This is good as it’s hyping up the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic which should be great. Well produced video package here.

TM-61 Vs. Authors of Pain in the first-round match of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic was great. These two teams faced each other at the finals of the 2016 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic as they’re looking to collide once again and it was great.

TM-61 did great in this match as they’re looking to avenge their loss two years ago against Authors of Pain. The somersault dive from Shane Thorne on Authors of Pain was well executed. The moonsault from Nick Miller on Akam was beautifully executed. Authors of Pain did great in this match as well as they wanted to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic for the second time. The powerbomb from Rezar on Shane Thorne on the ring apron looked like it killed Shane Thorne. The exploder suplex from Akam on Nick Miller to the corner looked like it killed Nick Miller in half. Great work by both teams here.

The ending of the match came when Authors of Pain hit the Last Chapter (Russian legsweep/clothesline combination) on Nick Miller for the pin and win. A good win for Authors of Pain as they’re looking to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic once again. War of Peace!

Great tag team match and Authors of Pain moves on to the semi-finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

The backstage segment between William Regal, Pete Dunne, Roderick Strong, and Undisputed Era was good. William Regal was being interviewed about the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic as he said that everyone in the tournament is well worthy winners of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic as he left.

Pete Dunne then came in and was being interviewed by people as he said that the WWE United Kingdom Championship isn’t going anywhere as Roderick Strong came in and confronted Pete Dunne about his victory over him a few weeks ago as he wants another shot at the WWE United Kingdom Championship.

Undisputed Era then showed up as Adam Cole said to Roderick Strong that he’s begging for another shot at the WWE United Kingdom Championship as Pete Dunne told Adam Cole that he hasn’t won anything since he got here as Adam Cole took that to heart and stared at Pete Dunne. William Regal then came by and asked if there was a problem where Adam Cole said no as he left with Undisputed Era.

Hmmm…, is it possible that we may get a three-way match between Pete Dunne, Roderick Strong, and Adam Cole for the WWE United Kingdom Championship? I guess we’ll have to wait and see, but I’ll be interested in that match if it happens. Good backstage segment here.

The backstage promo from SAnitY was great. Eric Young talked about that they’re in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic once again this year as they didn’t win the last time they were in. Alexander Wolfe then said that this year, they will win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and it will be chaos. Nikki Cross then hopped on Alexander Wolfe’s back as they started laughing where Killian Dain then said that when he faces Aleister Black, chaos will win.

SAnitY is looking to dominate this year as they’re looking to win all the gold. We’ll see if they can accomplish that. Great backstage promo here.

Drew Renee Vs. Bianca Belair was a good women’s squash match. This was another showcase for Bianca Belair as she continues to impress inside the ring.

Drew Renee didn’t get any offense against Bianca Belair as Bianca Belair completely dominated her in this match as she finished Drew Renee off with an Alley Oop for the pin and win. A good win for Bianca Belair as she’s slowly climbing up the ranks in the NXT Women’s division.

Good women’s squash match and I can’t wait to see more of Bianca Belair.

The backstage segment with Lacey Evans and Shayna Baszler by Christy St. Cloud from last weekend was good. Christy St. Cloud was interviewing Lacey Evans about her match against Dakota Kai next week as Lacey Evans said that Dakota Kai is still shaking from the injury she suffered from Shayna Baszler and she intends to see how much of the arm is healed when she faces Dakota Kai next week.

Shayna Baszler then came in as Lacey Evans started to leave as Shayna Baszler said that it’s been another week and still no response from Ember Moon. She said that normally, a fighting champion would answer, but all she got as of late was silence. She then said that she got her answer as she left.

It seems like Shayna Baszler really wants her NXT Women’s Championship match against Ember Moon, but once again, no response. I’m pretty sure once Ember Moon comes back, she will accept the challenge from Shayna Baszler. Good backstage segment here.

The promo from Heavy Machinery at the Performance Center was good. Heavy Machinery was training as Tucker Knight were once nobodies in NXT and now they are somebodies in terms of beef where Otis Dozovic as they’re looking to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Heavy Machinery is looking fired up for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Let’s see if they win it this year. Good promo here.

The in-ring segment with Tommaso Ciampa was excellent. Mark out moment! Tommaso Ciampa came into the ring with his crutch at hand as the crowd in Center Stage were booing him heavily. He then grabbed a mic as he was about to speak, the fans booed him heavily once again as they started to chant, “We Want Johnny!” at him.

He then started to get irritated from the chants and boos as he was about to speak again, but the crowd continued to boo him heavily. The crowd then chanted “You Suck!” at Tommaso Ciampa as he dropped the mic and was about to leave until he came back in the ring and tried to speak again, but the crowd continued to boo him heavily.

He then left the ring once again as the crowd started chanting, “Na Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye” at Tommaso Ciampa along with “Delete” chants. As Tommaso Ciampa was about to leave, he grabbed a sign from a fan that had Johnny Wrestling in it as he ripped the sign up, threw it in the ring, and hit it with his crutch repeatedly until he left the ring.

Tommaso Ciampa then went up the ramp as he stared out at the ring on what he has done as he pose where the crowd booed him heavily once again before officially leaving.

Wow, just wow. Tommaso Ciampa didn’t say a word and he got the biggest heat on this show. Just well done in Tommaso Ciampa’s part. I can’t wait to see the possible return of Johnny Gargano in NXT so he can continue to feud with Tommaso Ciampa and when they fight, it’s going to be awesome. Psycho Killer!

Excellent in-ring segment and I can’t wait to see what Tommaso Ciampa does next after this.

We then get an announcement that next week, it will be Pete Dunne Vs. Adam Cole for the WWE United Kingdom Championship, SAnitY Vs. God-Gifted Athletes in a first-round match of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and Street Profits Vs. Heavy Machinery in a first-round match of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Next week’s show looks to be stacked. Looking forward to it.

Aleister Black Vs. Killian Dain was an excellent match. Mark out moment! These two went out there and delivered an excellent match as they’re looking to become the next #1 Contender for the NXT Championship.

Killian Dain did excellent in this match as he wants to become the next #1 Contender for the NXT Championship. His running front missile dropkick on Aleister Black to the corner at the beginning of the match looked devastating. His slingshot corner splash on Aleister Black looked like it squashed Aleister Black. Excellent work by Aleister Black here.

Aleister Black did excellent in this match as well as he also wants to become the next #1 Contender for the NXT Championship. His middle rope moonsault on Killian Dain to the outside and his middle rope springboard moonsault on Killian Dain were beautifully executed. Excellent work by Aleister Black here.

The ending of the match came when Aleister Black hit Black Mass (Spin kick) on Killian Dain for the pin and win. A great win for Aleister Black as he’s looking to face Andrade “Cien” Almas for the NXT Championship. Fade to black!

Excellent match and I’m looking forward to the potential match between Andrade “Cien” Almas and Aleister Black for the NXT Championship.

Overall, a great show that is building up characters, storylines, and feuds for the near future. Next week, we will get Dakota Kai Vs. Lacey Evans, Pete Dunne Vs. Adam Cole for the WWE United Kingdom Championship, SAnitY Vs. God-Gifted Athletes in the first-round of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, and Street Profits Vs. Heavy Machinery in a first-round match of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
