205 Live on April 17, 2018, was a good show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package highlighting the feud between Lucha House Party and Akira Tozawa & Hideo Itami. This was good as it shows what happened between these two teams as they will face each other later on the show in a tornado tag team match. Well produced video package here.

Mustafa Ali Vs. Ariya Daivari was a good match. After Mustafa Ali made his entrance to the ring, we see a backstage interview with Ariya Daivari by Dasha Fuentes where Dasha Fuentes asked Ariya Daivari on why he challenged Mustafa Ali as Ariya Daivari responded by saying that Mustafa Ali had a chance of a lifetime as he could have become WWE Cruiserweight Champion at Wrestlemania 34, but he failed. He then said that he had his opportunity and he’s going to take his opportunity and beat him. Nice to see Ariya Daivari back on the show with some mic time. Anyway, back to the match itself.

Ariya Daivari did well in this match as he was trying to show Mustafa Ali that he deserves an opportunity for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. His superkick on Mustafa Ali looked liked it knocked out Mustafa Ali for a moment there. His spinebuster on Mustafa Ali on the floor looked like it broke Mustafa Ali’s back. Mustafa Ali did well in this match as he tried to fight through the pain that Ariya Daivari gave him and still fought back. Good work by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Mustafa Ali hit 054 (Inverted 450 splash) on Ariya Daivari for the pin and win. A good win for Mustafa Ali as he looks to get another shot at the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

Good match and we’ll see if Mustafa Ali will get his shot at the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

We then got a recap of what happened last week when Mustafa Ali challenged Cedric Alexander for a shot at the WWE Cruiserweight Championship until Buddy Murphy came in and took out Cedric Alexander where Cedric Alexander posted a tweet saying that what Buddy Murphy did to him was uncalled for and the next time he sees him, he will take him down. Cedric Alexander is looking to teach Buddy Murphy a lesson the next time they meet, let’s see if Cedric Alexander can hold true to his words.

The backstage promo from Drake Maverick was good. Drake Maverick talked about how Buddy Murphy’s actions last week were disgraceful to Cedric Alexander, the WWE Universe, and the cruiserweight division. However, he can’t deny that his recent wins as of late made him a #1 Contender for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship as he would face Cedric Alexander for the belt at Greatest Royal Rumble. Unfortunately, Drake Maverick said that plans have changed as Buddy Murphy failed his weigh-in.

Drake Maverick then showed a video earlier in the show when Buddy Murphy tried to do his weigh-in, but Drake Maverick told him that he’s over the weight limit at 207 lbs. and won’t be able to compete in the cruiserweight division. Buddy Murphy then told Drake Maverick to give him an hour to make him lose the weight, but Drake Maverick told him that he knows the rules and won’t be able to compete in the cruiserweight division until he loses the weight.

Drake Maverick then said that a new challenger will be determined as there will be a gauntlet match next week where the winner will face Cedric Alexander for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at Greatest Royal Rumble.

Well, Buddy Murphy didn’t make the cut this week, but someone else will have the opportunity to face Cedric Alexander at Greatest Royal Rumble in a gauntlet match which should be great. Looking forward to that.

Good backstage promo and I can’t wait to see the gauntlet match next week.

Kevin DeTiberus & Vinny Scalice Vs. The Brian Kendrick & Gentleman Jack Gallagher was a good tag team squash match. The Brian Kendrick has made his in-ring return to 205 Live! Mark out moment! Great to see The Brian Kendrick back in the ring after his injury and he seems like he’s doing well for himself as well.

Kevin DeTiberus & Vinny Scalice managed to get some offense on The Brian Kendrick & Gentleman Jack Gallagher, but it wasn’t enough to take them down as The Brian Kendrick locked Kevin DeTiberus with The Captain’s Hook (Bridging reverse chinlock) to make him tap out for the win. A good win for The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher as they’re looking to make a name for themselves in the cruiserweight division.

Good tag team squash match as I’m interested to see what’s next for The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher in the cruiserweight division.

The backstage interview with Mustafa Ali by Dasha Fuentes was good. Mustafa Ali was relaxing backstage until Dasha Fuentes came in and asked Mustafa Ali about how he felt on Buddy Murphy not making the weight. Mustafa Ali responded by saying that he’s disappointed in him and he hopes that he does cut the weight as Cedric Alexander will get his revenge on Buddy Murphy once he does. He then said that the gauntlet match next week will give him an opportunity at the WWE Cruiserweight Championship and he won’t let that chance slip away as he left.

Mustafa Ali wants another shot at the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, but he has to earn to it and he has a chance to do it in the gauntlet match next week. Let’s see if Mustafa Ali can prevail. Good backstage interview here.

We then see Lucha House Party and Akira Tozawa & Hideo Itami warming up backstage as they’re getting ready for their tornado tag team match later on the show. Both teams looked focused, but only one team can walk out victorious. Let’s see who comes out on top.

The backstage promo from Drew Gulak was good. Drew Gulak talked about how his in-ring style is superior to Mark Andrews’ in-ring style as he made him tap out last week. He then talked about how Tony Nese is out to get him and he wants a match against him even though he doesn’t have a right to face him because he knows that if he steps in the ring with him, he will tap out. He then said that he plans to win the WWE Cruiserweight Championship as he inserted himself in the gauntlet match next week.

Drew Gulak is making his point loud and clear as he has his eyes set on the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. So far, Mustafa Ali and Drew Gulak will be in the gauntlet, but let’s see who else will be in it. Good backstage promo here.

Lucha House Party Vs. Akira Tozawa & Hideo Itami in a tornado tag team match was excellent. Mark out moment! Drake Maverick was on commentary for this match while Gran Metalik and Lince Dorado were representing Lucha House Party in this match with Kalisto watching the match backstage.

Akira Tozawa & Hideo Itami did excellent in this match as they tried to show Lucha House Party respect. The way Hideo Itami threw Lince Dorado to the steps looked like Lince Dorado went through a car crash. The suicide dive from Akira Tozawa to Gran Metalik was beautifully executed. The running dropkick to the corner while Lince Dorado was down looked devastating.

Lucha House Party did excellent in this match as well as they also want to show Akira Tozawa & Hideo Itami respect. The double springboard moonsault on Akira Tozawa & Hideo Itami to the outside was beautiful. The superkick from Gran Metalik on Hideo Itami looked devastating.

There was a cool spot in the match where Gran Metalik hit a sunset flip powerbomb on Akira Tozawa & Hideo Itami while Akira Tozawa & Hideo Itami hit a double superplex on Lince Dorado which looked pretty cool. Excellent work by both teams here.

The ending of the match came when Gran Metalik hit the springboard elbow drop on Hideo Itami while Lince Dorado hit the shooting star press on Akira Tozawa for the pin and win. A great win for Lucha House Party as Kalisto came in to celebrate them. I expect these three to be in the gauntlet match next week, but only time will tell. Lucha! Lucha! Lucha! Lucha!

Excellent tornado tag team match and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Lucha House Party, Akira Tozawa, and Hideo Itami in the cruiserweight division going forward.

Overall, a good show for the seventy-third episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
