NXT 5/25/16 Review: The End is Near…

WWE NXT

Hello everyone, this is Vaude Influence.

Since I missed one segment of Lucha Underground, I decided to do both reviews of Lucha Underground and NXT from last week.

Hope you enjoy it. Anyway, let’s get on with it.

NXT on May 25, 2016 was a good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future at NXT The End. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with an announcement from William Regal backstage as he announced that he planned for Asuka Vs. Bayley at NXT The End, but Bayley won’t be able to compete at NXT The End. So William Regal decided to have a triple threat #1 Contender’s match for the NXT Women’s Championship where the winner will face Asuka at NXT The End with Carmella Vs. Alexa Bliss Vs. Nia Jax.

Aw man, poor Bayley. She’s going to miss NXT The End, that’s unfortunate. Hope she gets better soon because I would love to see her back in the women’s championship picture soon.

As for the #1 Contender’s match, I questioned why they would do it if Nia Jax defeated Bayley last week. Since Nia Jax beat Bayley last week, shouldn’t she be the one to get a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship since she beat the former NXT Women’s Champion? I mean, yes, Carmella and Alexa Bliss have been getting a lot of wins lately and they say they want to go after the NXT Women’s Championship so in that sense, it makes sense. However, unlike Nia Jax, they haven’t beat Bayley who is a former NXT Women’s Champion so in that sense, Nia Jax should be the #1 Contender since she beat Bayley last week.

However, it might give some showcase to both Carmella and Alexa Bliss to prove if they can be a future NXT Women’s Champion so in that case, I’m fine with that. However, logically, it should be Nia Jax that is the #1 Contender to the NXT Women’s Championship since she beat Bayley last week. Other than that, I’m interested in the match and see how everyone does. Good announcement here.

Wrestling Killers Vs. TM-61 was a great tag team match. Oh my god! TM-61 have made their NXT debuts! Mark out moment for both members! For those of you who don’t know, TM-61 consists of Nick Miller and Shane Thorn or Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste, also known as TMDK, The Mighty Don’t Kneel.

TM-61 are an Australian tag team that competed all over the world especially well known for their work at Pro Wrestling NOAH in Japan. I love how before the match, TM-61 cut a promo on how they are the hottest tag team on the planet and they’re looking to get themselves tag team gold. I also love that they mentioned that they are The Mighty, The Mighty Don’t Kneel, nice reference there to acknowledge who they are back in the independent circuit, Australia, and Japan.

TM-61 did pretty well in this match and I’m glad that NXT is letting them be themselves with their gimmicks, tag team moves, etc. Very impressive showing here by TM-61 despite getting the loss here.

Wrestling Killers were also very impressive in this match showing that they are a cohesive unit. Love their tag team finisher with the superkick/running knee to the back of the head combination. With this win, it seems like Wrestling Killers may go after the NXT Tag Team Championships which I don’t mind as they have been getting wins as of late as a tag team. Plus, their match against American Alpha last year was great so I would love to see those two tag teams go at it once again. Another great showing by Wrestling Killers here. Psycho Killer! Johnny Wrestling!

After the match, both Wrestling Killers and TM-61 gave their respect to each other showing great sportmanship between the two teams. Would love to see these two teams go at it each other again in the near future after what they showcase here in this match. I could definitely see both Wrestling Killers and TM-61 being future contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championships so that should be interesting to see. Now, with TM-61 in the mix, we now have five tag teams in NXT TV at the moment. We need more please! Thank you.

Great tag team match and interested to see where Wrestling Killers and TM-61 go from here.

The video package for Samoa Joe hyping up him and his match at NXT The End for the NXT Championship in a Steel Cage against Finn Balor was great. The video package highlights Samoa Joe’s reign as NXT Champion and how intense he will be inside the cage as he goes against Finn Balor at NXT The End. Samoa Joe guarantees that he will end Finn Balor at NXT The End.

Love that Samoa Joe is being viewed as this dominant monster heel and if you mess with him, he will choke you out. His match against Finn Balor at NXT The End for the NXT Championship inside a steel cage should be excellent. Can’t wait for that match. Great video package here.

The backstage segment between Bayley, Nia Jax, Carmella, and Alexa Bliss with Cathy Kelley was good. Cathy Kelley asks Bayley on how she feels about not being medically cleared to compete at NXT The End. Bayley responds with that it sucks, but agrees that William Regal is right for her not being 100%.

Nia Jax then comes in and interrupts Bayley and tells Bayley that she will be never be the same again. Carmella then shows up and defends Bayley, but Nia Jax tells Carmella that she’ll destroy her and Alexa Bliss later on the show. Alexa Bliss then shows up as Nia Jax tells her that she isn’t worth it as Nia Jax leaves. Alexa Bliss and Carmella then insults each other for a little bit before Alexa Bliss leaves.

Love that everyone in this segment have a purpose behind there as it sets up the match later on the show as well as setting up possible future feuds and matches between the four of them. Looking forward to seeing Carmella Vs. Alexa Bliss Vs. Nia Jax later on the show and hope that Bayley recovers soon. Good backstage segment here.

Karate by Baby Metal will be one of the themes for NXT The End. Very surprised that a Japanese song will be a theme for NXT The End. However, it’s a good song and Baby Metal is a good band. I wonder if this means we might get a future NXT Japan Tour. I would definitely love that if that ever happens. Can’t wait for NXT The End in two weeks. Should be great.

A vignette of Andrade “Cien” Almas appeared and it was great. It shows Andrade “Cien” Almas removing his mask as he watches old footage of himself and reveals that Andrade “Cien” Almas is coming soon.

Oh my god! It’s Andrade “Cien” Almas and he’s coming to NXT soon! Yes! Mark out moment! For those of you who don’t know, Andrade “Cien” Almas is also known as La Sombra who is well known in CMLL and NJPW. He is one of the best luchadors in wrestling today and I’m so happy that he’s coming to NXT soon. Los Ingobernables! Can’t wait for his NXT debut. Great vignette here.

The promo segment between Austin Aries, Shinsuke Nakamura, and William Regal was great. Austin Aries makes his way to the ring and talks about how he is the best and how there are other wrestlers in NXT who are grabbing the attention. Austin Aries then says that it’s going to change once Samoa Joe and Finn Balor ends their feud as he plans to become NXT Champion.

Shinsuke Nakamura then makes his entrance to the ring and Shinsuke Nakamura starts to speak in Japanese for a bit to Austin Aries. He then apologizes to Austin Aries in English as he knows he doesn’t understand Japanese. He tells Austin Aries that the NXT Championship is coming to strong style as both men stare at each other.

Then William Regal comes out as he stands on the ramp. William Regal commends Austin Aries and Shinsuke Nakamura for being a tag team last week. However, William Regal sees something even more special as the crowd chants, “Takeover” as William Regal agrees with the crowd. So at NXT The End, it will be Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Austin Aries where both men shake hands to end the segment.

Holy shoot! So at NXT The End, it will be Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Austin Aries! Mark out moment! This is a dream match of mine that I wanted to happen and now it’s going to happen in two weeks. Yes! That should be an excellent match and I can’t wait to see it. Great promo segment here.

The backstage interview with American Alpha by Andrea D’Marco was good. American Alpha talk about how tough The Revival are and they know what they are capable of. However, they’re going to prove no matter where they are, why they are the better tag team because they are ready… willing… and Gable!

I like how American Alpha are willing to face all challengers no matter who they are or where they are which is great because it shows how American Alpha are not afraid of anyone despite how tough their opponents are. Their match against The Revival at NXT The End should be great. Good backstage interview here.

Paranoia by A Day To Remember will be another theme for NXT The End. So we’re getting two good songs for NXT The End, huh? Awesome! Can’t wait for NXT The End in two weeks, it should be great.

No Way Jose Vs. Jonathan Oregon was an entertaining squash match. Oh my god! It’s Johnny Vandal from FIP! Mark out moment! He’s a man that I see a lot of potential in so NXT, please sign him! Thank you.

Unfortunately, Jonathan Oregon didn’t get much offense here as No Way Jose mostly dominated the match. However, it was great to see him here even if it’s for one night.

No Way Jose continues to show his charisma as he is so over with the Full Sail crowd. Love the Wristlock Full Nelson Slam that No Way Jose does. It looks awesome. I can’t wait to see who No Way Jose will feud with first in NXT, No Way Jose!

Entertaining squash match here as I look forward to see who No Way Jose will feud with first in NXT and NXT, please sign Johnny Vandal!

The video package for Finn Balor hyping him up and his match at NXT The End for the NXT Championship in a Steel Cage against Samoa Joe was great. The video package highlights Finn Balor’s loss to Samoa Joe at Mayhem in Massachusetts losing the NXT Championship in the process last month. It then shows Finn Balor talking about his Steel Cage match against Samoa Joe for the NXT Championship at NXT The End as he plans to get his NXT Championship back.

Love that Finn Balor despite losing the NXT Championship to Samoa Joe, he’s going to do whatever it takes to take Samoa Joe down and get back his NXT Championship. A lot of determination from Finn Balor there knowing that he’s going against the man he lost to last month at Mayhem in Massachusetts. However, he did beat Samoa Joe twice at NXT London and at NXT Dallas so Finn Balor does have a chance at NXT The End to get his NXT Championship back. Either way, only time will tell as it’s only two weeks away. Can’t wait for their match at NXT The End, it should be excellent. Great video package here.

The backstage interview with Asuka by Cathy Kelley was good. Asuka says that no matter who wins, she will beat them as she stares Cathy Kelley to end the interview.

Short, sweet, and to the point. Asuka doesn’t really need to speak as much as she does the speaking in the ring. However, a promo like this once in a while is very special because you know she means business when she is doing something that she doesn’t do often. Interested to see who will face Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT The End which will talk about next. Good backstage interview here.

Before we talk about the match though, it was announced that next week, Corey Graves will have an exclusive interview with both Samoa Joe and Finn Balor as well as Austin Aries Vs. Elias Samson. Looks to be a good show next week as we’re building up to NXT The End in two weeks. Should be a great show and I can’t wait. Anyway, let’s get onto the next match.

Carmella Vs. Alexa Bliss Vs. Nia Jax in a Triple Threat #1 Contender’s match for the NXT Women’s Championship was pretty good. All three of these women did well in this match as everyone got to showcase their skills.

Nia Jax being that dominant monster heel, Alexa Bliss being that sneaky opportunistic heel, and Carmella being that charismatic babyface to try to take the win. Despite everyone doing well in this match, only one can win and can move on to face Asuka at NXT The End for the NXT Women’s Championship. In the end, Nia Jax came out on top and now she’s going to face Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT The End.

Aftee the match, Nia Jax smack talks Alexa Bliss until Asuka shows up as she holds the NXT Women’s Championship. She then raises her championship up in the air while staring at Nia Jax as Nia Jax smiles at her as she walks down the ramp. Asuka then enters the ring and confronts Nia Jax as Nia Jax tells Asuka that she’s going to drop her where she stands, but Asuka smiles at Nia Jax as she holds up the title.

Wow, Asuka must have big guts to stand right in front of Nia Jax like that. However, she has fought many tough battles before and Nia Jax may be no different. I like how Asuka isn’t scared to face Nia Jax despite her size and strength. Asuka Vs. Nia Jax at NXT The End should be an interesting match to see and I can’t wait to see what happens.

Good women’s match and can’t wait to see Asuka Vs. Nia Jax at NXT The End in two weeks.

Overall, good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future at NXT The End. Next week, we’re going to get an exclusive interview with Samoa Joe and Finn Balor by Corey Graves and Austin Aries and Elias Samson which should be interesting to see. The road to NXT The End is upon us and I can’t wait for the show. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
