NXT on June 1, 2016 was a good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future at NXT The End. Let’s break it down:
We start off the show with a promo segment between The Revival and Wrestling Killers and it was pretty good. The Revival make their way to the ring as Dash Wilder talks about how they are going to get back their NXT Tag Team Championships in order to become the first ever 2x NXT Tag Team Champions. Scott Dawson says that they have enough decency to admit that American Alpha are great as little amateur wrestlers, but at NXT The End, they’re going to hit hard.
Then Wrestling Killers come out and interrupt The Revival. As they come down to the ring, Dash Wilder asks them if they’re lost and Tommaso Ciampa replies by saying that The Revival’s time on top has come and gone. Tommaso Ciampa also says that American Alpha are better than The Revival and that even The Revival can’t beat them. The Revival counters that with Scott Dawson saying that Wrestling Killers are undersized, bearded guys and Dash Wilder calls Wrestling Killers “good hands”. Johnny Gargano then counters that by saying what they told them, is not to Wrestling Killers, but to The Revival which made The Revival a little bit furious.
Scott Dawson then says that there’s a renaissance in the tag team division of NXT because of The Revival and he wants Wrestling Killers to go back to the bingo halls. Tommaso Ciampa then calls The Revival out by saying that they lost to American Alpha at NXT Dallas. Dash Wilder then counters that by saying that at least they were champions and until Wrestling Killers win gold, then they can continue the conversation.
The Revival then leave the ring until Wrestling Killers goaded them to get them back in the ring in which they did. Wrestling Killers then hit The Revival with double dropkicks as The Revival got out of the ring after being hit. Wrestling Killers and The Revival then argue with each other saying that they will settle this later on the show.
Both teams were good on the mic here in this segment. Would love to see both teams talk more often as they do have charisma and they showcase it here with this segment. Love that Wrestling Killers are stepping up their game as of late as they’re looking to get a shot at the NXT Tag Team Championships. So we’re getting Wrestling Killers Vs. The Revival later on the show? Looks good to me as that should be a great tag team match. Looking forward to it.
Good promo segment and I’m looking forward to Wrestling Killers Vs. The Revival later on the show.
The backstage interview with Shinsuke Nakamura by Cathy Kelley was pretty good. Cathy Kelley asks Shinsuke Nakamura about his match against Austin Aries at NXT The End next week and Shinsuke Nakamura responds by saying that Austin Aries will bow down to him, king of strong style.
This is why Shinsuke Nakamura is awesome. Shinsuke Nakamura is a man that doesn’t speak a lot, but when he does, it’s simple, short, and very effective. I can’t wait for Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Austin Aries at NXT The End next week, it should be excellent. Good backstage interview here.
The video package of the NXT Championship match between Samoa Joe and Finn Balor in a steel cage for NXT The End was great. It helps build up the main event for NXT The End next week and it shows why Samoa Joe and Finn Balor are feuding with each other. Very hyped for this match next week, should be excellent. Great video package here.
Tye Dillinger Vs. Buddy Murphy was a good match. Buddy Murphy may lost Alexa Bliss and Blake, but he got his first name back. I don’t know if it’s a good trade off, but I do know that Buddy Murphy is a very good wrestler as he wrestles as Matt Silva in Australia.
Despite that, I still don’t like that BAM Factor has brokened up and questioned if Buddy Murphy could do well on his own. I know Alexa Bliss will be fine on her own, but I do worry for Buddy Murphy and Blake as they kind of need each other since I don’t think they could do well as singles competitors. Plus, NXT needs more tag teams so I think it was a bad move. However, that’s just me.
Buddy Murphy did well in this match, but the star in this match was Tye Dillinger. I like how Tye Dillinger was being more of a face here by doing that ten punches to the corner which was pretty cool. Also, love that fireman’s carry onto a knee by Tye Dillinger there. Pretty impressive move by Tye Dillinger and it’s very devastating as a finisher.
As a result, Tye Dillinger gets the win and this made me happy. Tye Dillinger has been an enhancement talent for NXT for a long time and it’s about time that he started to get wins again. It seems like NXT may turn him face which is fine by me since he’s been getting cheered by the NXT crowd for a while so it’s about time that he turned face. Hope he gets a push in NXT soon and if that happens, it would be a perfect ten. Ten!
Good match and I’m interested to see what Tye Dillinger and Buddy Murphy do next in NXT.
The special sit-down interview with Samoa Joe and Finn Balor by Corey Graves was great. Corey Graves asks Finn Balor on how he feels about losing to Samoa Joe at Mayhem in Massachusetts and Finn Balor replies by saying that he never expected Samoa Joe to beat him. However, he has no regrets of losing because he was a fighting champion till the very end.
Corey Graves then asks Samoa Joe on how he felt by winning the NXT Championship and Samoa Joe replies with that he finally got what he deserves. He then says that William Regal has made him jump through many obstacles to attain his goal, but he finally did it.
Finn Balor says that Samoa Joe felt entitled ever since he came to NXT as he says there are people in the Performance Center who are more deserving than him. Samoa Joe then asks Finn Balor on why the people in the Performance Center aren’t in his position right now. Finn Balor then calls Samoa Joe a whiner while Samoa Joe says it’s confidence. Samoa Joe then says that Finn Balor never gave him a title shot when they were friends and when he had Finn Balor’s back as Finn Balor never spoke to William Regal about it.
Then they start to talk about their history with each other and their accomplishments. Corey Graves then intercedes to say Finn Balor survived Samoa Joe more than beat him. Finn Balor says that he beat Samoa Joe at NXT London and NXT Dallas and then says that the steel cage might be a disadvantage to him, but he won his first ladder match so he thinks he can beat Samoa Joe in a steel cage. Samoa Joe says that he feels confident in the steel cage and that he will beat Finn Balor at NXT The End.
Corey Graves then asks Finn Balor if he realizes the risk inside the steel cage match and Finn Balor replies by saying that the NXT Championship means everything to him and he’s going to get it back at NXT The End. Samoa Joe says that this is an opportunity to show Finn Balor where his place is. Both men stared each other to end the segment.
I really enjoyed this interview a lot as it shows why these two are feuding in the first place, how much winning and losing meant to them, and what being NXT Champion means to both men. I really wish there were more interviews like this in wrestling because stuff like this could really add to the feud to make people care about the feud and why we should care about the match and the wrestlers in it. To me, it accomplished all of it and now I’m even more excited for Samoa Joe Vs. Finn Balor at NXT The End. It should be excellent. Great sit-down interview here.
Just a reminder that Paranoia by A Day to Remember will be a theme for NXT The End next week. Good song and I can’t wait for NXT The End next week. It should be great.
Austin Aries Vs. Elias Samson was a good match. Man, Elias Samson has been going on a losing streak as of late and it saddens me a bit because I think Elias Samson could be a really great heel for NXT and it really displayed that in this match. Hope to see Elias Samson get back on the winning track soon because I think this guy could be a great heel for NXT in the near future.
Despite Elias Samson losing this match, he still put up a good fight against Austin Aries and Austin Aries was himself as usual here in this match. Austin Aries gets the win on Elias Samson with the Last Chancery submission hold. Glad to see that Austin Aries is using Last Chancery as his submission finisher so that was nice.
After the match, Austin Aries was about to cut a promo as the fans chant “Nakamura” as he was about to talk. He then cut a promo by saying that at NXT The End, he will remove any doubts people have about him being the greatest in the ring as he plans to be in the spotlight.
The way Austin Aries cut that promo felt a little heelish to me at points as he’s saying that he wants all the spotlight to be on him. Maybe it’s his ego getting the best of him, but I wouldn’t mind a heel turn for Austin Aries as it does make sense to turn him heel as he has been overshadowed as of late. Besides, Austin Aries is at his best when he’s a heel so Austin Aries as a heel would be great. Looking forward to Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Austin Aries next week. It should be excellent.
Good match and good post-match promo as I’m looking forward to seeing Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Austin Aries next week at NXT The End.
We then get the same vignette of Andrade “Cien” Almas from last week, but this time, Andrade “Cien” Almas will debut on NXT next week at NXT The End. Oh my god! Andrade “Cien” Almas will debut on NXT next week, yes! Mark out moment! For those who haven’t seen him before, get ready because this guy will blow your mind away. I can’t wait for his debut next week, it should be great. Los Ingobernables!
Wrestling Killers Vs. The Revival was a great tag team match. This match was very back and forth where both teams look great without making one team look bad for the other.
In the end, Wrestling Killers get a surprise victory over The Revival by Scott Dawson hitting a superplex on Johnny Gargano and Johnny Gargano quickly wraps his legs around Scott Dawson to get the pin and win. Wow! I did not expect Wrestling Killers to win this match at all, but they did. Congratulations to them. I can really see them getting a future shot at the NXT Tag Team Championships and this victory solidifies it. Very happy for Wrestling Killers here.
However, their victory was short lived as The Revival attacked Wrestling Killers post-match. As The Revival were about to do more damage to Wrestling Killers, American Alpha came in to save the day and takes out The Revival as The Revival retreats.
I love that The Revival were trying to get some heel heat back by beating up their opponents after the match. It’s a good way to get heat back on the heels in case they lose a match. With this, I’m excited to see American Alpha Vs. The Revival next week at NXT The End which should be another great tag team match between the two teams. Looking forward to it. Ready… willing… and Gable!
Great tag team match and good post-match segment as I’m looking forward to American Alpha Vs. The Revival next week at NXT The End.
Just a reminder that Karate by Baby Metal will be a theme for NXT The End next week. Good song and I can’t wait for NXT The End next week. It should be great.
The contract signing between Asuka and Nia Jax hosted by William Regal was good. William Regal is in the ring and introduces Nia Jax and Asuka to the ring for the contract signing.
William Regal then compliments Asuka’s accomplishments in NXT as Nia Jax steals the mic and says that none of Asuka’s accomplishments matter. She says that Asuka beat Bayley, but she broke Bayley and she’s going to break Asuka as well. Nia Jax then says that no one is like her, she is the future, and that she’s afraid of Asuka as she signs the contract.
Asuka says that Nia Jax talk too much as she signs the contract. She then says something to Nia Jax in Japanese and then tells Nia Jax should be scared of her. The two begin to brawl until Nia Jax powerbombs Asuka as William Regal tells her to leave as Nia Jax leaves the ring staring at Asuka’s fallen body in the ring to end the segment.
Wow, again, I have to give big props to Asuka for standing up to Nia Jax, but getting to her face and try to beat her up is not a really good idea as it was shown in this segment. I’m really intrigued on this match between Asuka and Nia Jax on how it will play out and so forth. It should be really interesting to see, but I know one thing for certain, one person will fall while the other one rises. I can’t wait to see what happens between Asuka and Nia Jax next week as I expect these two to destroy each other. Looking forward to it.
Good contract signing and I can’t wait to see what happens between Asuka and Nia Jax at NXT The End next week.
Overall, good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future at NXT The End. Next week, NXT The End will come and it should be a great show. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
