205 Live on July 17, 2018, was a good show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package highlighting the match between Cedric Alexander and Hideo Itami for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship as Drake Maverick praised both men for their efforts. Drake Maverick then hyped up Akira Tozawa Vs. Lio Rush and Noam Dar Vs. TJP on this show. This is good as it showed what happened last week with the WWE Cruiserweight Championship match and hyped up the matches later on the show. Well produced video package here.

Noam Dar Vs. TJP was a good match. As TJP made his entrance to the ring, he cut a promo on how he’s thrilled that Drake Maverick let him know about his opponent beforehand so he could prepare and get ready to win. He then talked trash to the crowd before talking about how Noam Dar went through a lot, but he will make sure that Noam Dar will soon be done as he’s going to end the match quick and prove why he is “The Cruisergreat”. Nice to see TJP getting some mic time. Anyway, back to the match itself.

Noam Dar did well in this match as he tried to get another win over TJP. His running dropkick to TJP where TJP was on the ring apron as he hit the barricade looked painful as heck. TJP did well in this match too as he tried to avenge his loss to Noam Dar. The way he kicked Noam Dar’s leg which made him fell hard on the ring apron looked like it damaged Noam Dar’s knee a lot. His chop block on Noam Dar looked devastating. Good work by both men here.

The ending of the match came when TJP locked in the kneebar on Noam Dar to make him tap out for the win. A good win for TJP as he got his revenge over Noam Dar. *Dabs*

Good match and I’m interested to see what’s next for Noam Dar and TJP in the cruiserweight division.

We then get a recap of what happened last week when Cedric Alexander defeated Hideo Itami to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. If you haven’t already, please check out that match, you won’t be disappointed.

We then see Lio Rush backstage warming up as he’s getting ready for his match against Akira Tozawa later on the show. Lio Rush is looking fired up, but we’ll see if he can take down Akira Tozawa.

The backstage promo from Mustafa Ali was good. Mustafa Ali talked about how he has to go through obstacles throughout his entire life and when he faced Buddy Murphy in a No Disqualification match two weeks ago, he did just that and he won. He then said that his win will make him become a future WWE Cruiserweight Champion.

Mustafa Ali is looking to become the next #1 Contender for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. We’ll see if Mustafa Ali gets that opportunity. Good backstage promo here.

Danny Garcia Vs. Drew Gulak was a great squash match. The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher were at ringside to support Drew Gulak.

Danny Garcia didn’t get any offense in this match as Drew Gulak completely destroyed him as Drew Gulak finished Danny Garcia off with the Gu-Lock (Dragon sleeper with bodyscissors) to make him submit for the win. A win for Drew Gulak as he looks to make a statement in the cruiserweight division.

After the match, Drew Gulak cut a promo on how you don’t get what you always wanted, but if you find something, you can find what you need. He then said that for the past two years, there are unworthy WWE Cruiserweight Champions expect The Brian Kendrick as he plans to be the man to make the WWE Cruiserweight Championship mean something. He then said Danny Garcia reminds him of Cedric Alexander, but not for his physical appearance as he will make sure that he will make him tap out.

Drew Gulak making a huge statement to Cedric Alexander as he looks to become the next #1 Contender for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. We’ll see if Drew Gulak can accomplish that. He will make you tap out!

Great squash match and I’m interested to see if Drew Gulak will be the next #1 Contender for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

We then get a recap of what happened last week when Lucha House Party and Buddy Murphy & Tony Nese collided with each other. This is good as it showed what happened last week and it ties into the next segment which I will talk about next.

The backstage interview with Buddy Murphy and Tony Nese by Dasha Fuentes were good. Buddy Murphy talked about how he hates losing and Lucha House Party were in the wrong place at the wrong time when he attacked them. However, he said that he didn’t regret his decision as he wanted to make sure that the world sees who Tony Nese really is as an athlete.

Tony Nese then said that Buddy Murphy is right and that he could prove that and he’s going to prove it when he challenged Kalisto to a match next week. However, Buddy Murphy won’t be in his corner as well as Lucha House Party not being at Kalisto’s corner as he wants to show Kalisto why he is “The Premier Athlete” as both men left.

Well, it seems like we got ourselves a match next week between Kalisto and Tony Nese. Hopefully, no one will interfere in that match and let those two go at it. Good backstage interview here.

We then see Akira Tozawa warming up backstage as he’s getting ready for his match against Lio Rush next. Akira Tozawa looks ready, but we’ll see if he can get the job done.

Akira Tozawa Vs. Lio Rush was an excellent match. Mark out moment! After these two have issues with each other for the past few weeks, they finally went head-to-head and it was excellent.

Akira Tozawa did excellent in this match as he tried to make Lio Rush show some respect to him. His suicide dive on Lio Rush and his front missile dropkick on Lio Rush were perfectly executed. Excellent work by Akira Tozawa here.

Lio Rush did excellent in this match as well as he tried to make a name for himself over Akira Tozawa. His double ankles to Akira Tozawa on the ring apron as Akira Tozawa crashed to the floor looked devastating. The way he swept Akira Tozawa from the top rope as he landed his head on the top turnbuckle looked nasty. Excellent work by Lio Rush here.

The ending of the match came when Lio Rush hit Akira Tozawa with The Final Hour (Split-legged frog splash) for the pin and win. A great win for Lio Rush as he got a victory over the former WWE Cruiserweight Champion. Feel the rush!

Excellent match and I’m interested to see how Akira Tozawa will respond to his loss against Lio Rush.

The backstage segment between Drake Maverick and Cedric Alexander was good. Drake Maverick was watching the match between Akira Tozawa and Lio Rush backstage until Cedric Alexander came in and asked him about who his next challenger for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

Drake Maverick told him that he thought about it and that next week, it will be Mustafa Ali Vs. TJP Vs. Hideo Itami Vs. Drew Gulak in a #1 Contender’s match where the winner will face Cedric Alexander for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Cedric Alexander thanked Drake Maverick and shook his hand before leaving.

Well, we got ourselves a match next week to determine the next #1 Contender for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Looking forward to that match next week which should be a lot of fun. A good backstage segment to end the show.

Overall, a good show for the eighty-sixth episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
