NXT 10/10/18 Review: The Best of North America

Published

on

NXT on October 10, 2018, was a great show that is building up characters, storylines, and feuds for the future. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package hyping up Ricochet Vs. Pete Dunne Vs. Adam Cole for the NXT North American Championship. This is good as it’s hyping up the main event for the show which should be excellent. Well produced video package here.

The in-ring promo segment between Tommaso Ciampa, Velveteen Dream, and Nikki Cross was great. Tommaso Ciampa came out and talked about he’s the greatest sports-entertainer of all time.

As Tommaso Ciampa was about to continue, Velveteen Dream came out and questioned Tommaso Ciampa about that claim because he believes that Tommaso Ciampa is a bad man as he thinks the title deserves an experience from Velveteen Dream. Tommaso Ciampa then told Velveteen Dream that he knows that he wants the main event, spotlight, and the NXT Championship and when he accused him attacking Aleister Black, he just wanted attention. Tommaso Ciampa then spoke with the title as the title told him that Velveteen Dream isn’t tough enough. Velveteen Dream then told Tommaso Ciampa that he is though and man enough to beat him for the NXT Championship as it all takes one moment.

As Velveteen Dream was about to continue, Nikki Cross came out and headed to the ring as she stared at both Tommaso Ciampa and Velveteen Dream. Nikki Cross told Velveteen Dream that she knows what he knows. Nikki Cross then went up to the NXT Championship as Tommaso Ciampa was about to speak, but Nikki Cross knocked the mic off of Tommaso Ciampa’s hand. Nikki Cross then said she knows what Tommaso Ciampa did too as she pushed Velveteen Dream out of the ring. Tommaso Ciampa was about to grab the mic, but Nikki Cross kicked the mic away from Tommaso Ciampa as she laughed and left the ring.

Man, a lot happened in this segment where we might get an NXT Championship match between Tommaso Ciampa and Velveteen Dream as well as figuring out who attacked Aleister Black thanks to Nikki Cross. We’ll see what happens in the next few weeks.

Great in-ring promo segment as I want to see if we get Tommaso Ciampa Vs. Velveteen Dream for the NXT Championship as well as knowing if Nikki Cross will say who attacked Aleister Black.

We then see Adam Cole backstage as he’s getting ready for his match later on the show. Adam Cole is looking ready here, but we’ll see if he can get back his NXT North American Championship.

We then see Pete Dunne backstage as he’s getting ready for his match later on the show. Pete Dunne is looking focused as well, but we’ll see if he will leave with two belts later on the show.

Keith Lee Vs. Kona Reeves was a good match. After the confrontation between the two backstage two weeks ago, it led to this match and it was good.

Kona Reeves did well in this match as he tried to prove that Keith Lee isn’t limitless. His big boot on Keith Lee looked devastating. His diving back elbow drop from the middle rope on Keith Lee was well executed. Keith Lee did well in this match too as he tried to prove the world on why is limitless. His running low-angle shoulder block on Kona Reeves looked like it ran over Kona Reeves. Good work by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Keith Lee hit Kona Reeves with Super Nova (Fireman’s carry powerslam) for the pin and win. A good win for Keith Lee as he continued to show why he’s limitless. Bask in his glory!

Good match and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Keith Lee and Kona Reeves in NXT.

The video package hyping up Kairi Sane Vs. Shayna Baszler for the NXT Women’s Championship at WWE Evolution was good. Shayna Baszler talked about how she lost to Kairi Sane, not because of Kairi Sane’s success, but her mistake for being too comfortable that she had her beat. She then said that she will prove to Kairi Sane that she’s the better woman and she will soon see the bad side of Shayna Baszler.

Shayna Baszler is looking to get back her NXT Women’s Championship. We’ll see if Shayna Baszler can be successful in doing so. Well produced video package here.

The interview with Kairi Sane outside of Full Sail University was good. Kairi Sane talked about how she’s excited to be a part of WWE Evolution and despite Shayna Baszler’s training, she will beat her again as she left.

Kairi Sane is looking confident heading into her NXT Women’s Championship against Shayna Baszler. We’ll see if she’s successful at WWE Evolution. Good backstage interview here.

We then see Ricochet walking backstage as he’s getting ready for his title defense coming up next. Ricochet is looking focused and we’ll see if he can retain the NXT North American Championship.

The backstage segment between William Regal, Kassius Ohno, and Nikki Cross was good. William Regal was walking backstage until an interviewer came up to him and asked him about the suspects who attacked Aleister Black as William Regal said that he won’t reveal the list of suspects, but he finds it interesting that Nikki Cross said she knows something.

William Regal was about to enter his office until Kassius Ohno came in as he’s been wanting to see him since their last conversation as William Regal told Kassius Ohno that he isn’t a suspect. Kassius Ohno told William Regal that he knows that, but it wasn’t about that as it’s about Matt Riddle and he wants to see his face again so he could face him, but he’s not here. Kassius Ohno then told William Regal that maybe Matt Riddle was the one who took out Aleister Black as William Regal entered his office without answering Kassius Ohno.

Nikki Cross then came in and laughed at Kassius Ohno as she said that she knows what he did as she left.

It really looks like Kassius Ohno really wants Matt Riddle and I have a feeling that he will get it at NXT War Games II, but only time will tell. As for Nikki Cross, I’m still waiting to see if she has the answer on who attacked Aleister Black. Good backstage segment here.

We then get an announcement that next week, it will be Undisputed Era Vs. War Raiders for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Looking forward to that match next week which should be great.

We then get a video package hyping up Undisputed Era Vs. War Raiders for the NXT Tag Team Championships and it was good. Nice to see that NXT is building up the NXT Tag Team Championship match next week which should be great. Looking forward to it.

We then get an announcement that next week, it will be Nikki Cross Vs. Bianca Belair. Next week’s show looks to be great with the addition of the NXT Tag Team Championship match. Looking forward to it.

Ricochet Vs. Pete Dunne Vs. Adam Cole for the NXT North American Championship was an excellent match. Mark out moment! This match was made by William Regal two weeks ago and this match was incredible as all three men gave everything they have.

Pete Dunne did excellent in this match as he tried to become NXT North American Champion while also being WWE United Kingdom Champion. His stomp on Adam Cole’s arm on the steel steps looked like it broke Adam Cole’s arm. His middle rope moonsault on Adam Cole to the outside was beautifully executed. His Bitter End (Pumphandle lift dropped into a reverse STO) on Adam Cole was well executed.

Adam Cole did excellent in this match as well as he tried to become the first ever 2x NXT North American Champion. His superkick on Ricochet looked devastating. His Last Shot (Shining Wizard) on Ricochet looked like it knocked out Ricochet for a moment there.

Ricochet did excellent in this match too as he tried to retain the NXT North American Championship. His double Frankensteiner on Pete Dunne and Adam Cole was perfectly executed. His reverse hurricanrana on Pete Dunne looked like it broke Pete Dunne’s neck there.

There were several points in this match where I thought it was over as it could have gone either way between all three men in the ring. There was a spot where Pete Dunne hit a rolling vertical suplex into a one-armed powerbomb on Ricochet, but Adam Cole managed to break up the pin before Pete Dunne could get the win. Wow, that was very close. There was another spot where Adam Cole hit Pete Dunne with a vertical suplex dropped onto a knee, but Pete Dunne managed to kick out of that. Wow, just wow. Excellent work by all three men here.

The ending of the match came when Ricochet hit Pete Dunne with a springboard 450 splash for the pin and to retain the NXT North American Championship. What a win for Ricochet as he proved that he deserves to be NXT North American Champion. One and Only!

Excellent match and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Ricochet, Pete Dunne, and Adam Cole in NXT.

Overall, a great show that is building up characters, storylines, and feuds for the future. Next week, we will have Undisputed Era Vs. War Raiders for the NXT Tag Team Championships and Nikki Cross Vs. Bianca Belair which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
