Lucha Underground 10/10/18 Review: Spiders Have Cero Miedo

Lucha Underground on October 10, 2018, was a great show that helps build up Ultima Lucha Cuatro in three weeks. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a recap of what happened on Season 4 of Lucha Underground with Aerostar, Fenix, Marty “The Moth” Martinez, Pentagon Dark, Reklusa, Johnny Mundo, Ricky Mundo, Matanza, and Taya. This is good as it shows what happened in Lucha Underground in case people missed it or forgot about it so that’s good. Well produced video package here.

The in-ring promo segment between Taya and Antonio Cueto was good. Taya was in the ring as she called out Antonio Cueto as Antonio Cueto came out and told Taya that it looks like she has been healed up. Taya then told Antonio Cueto that Matanza ruined her wedding and put her and Johnny Mundo in the hospital. In addition, Matanza sacrificed Joey Wrestling and Jack Evans as she wants revenge on Matanza right now. Antonio Cueto liked what Taya said and will give it to her as Matanza came out and the match began.

I understand Taya is frustrated and all, but I don’t know if going against Matanza is the right move at all. Either way, let’s see what she can do against Matanza.

Good in-ring segment and we’ll see if Taya can survive against Matanza.

Taya Vs. Matanza was a good match for what it was. This match was made immediately the moment Taya asked Antonio Cueto for it and asked, she shall receive.

Taya did well in this match as she tried to get revenge on Matanza for ruining her wedding. Her running double knees to the corner on Matanza looked devastating. Her moonsault on Matanza was well executed. Matanza did well in this match too as he tried to make another sacrifice. His shoulder block on Taya looked like it took Taya out there for a bit. Good work by both competitors here.

The ending of the match came when Matanza was about to hit Taya with Wrath of the Gods (Reverse-spin scoop powerslam), but Johnny Mundo came in and hit Matanza with a dropkick to give a disqualification. This makes complete sense as Johnny Mundo didn’t want Taya to sacrifice so he had to protect his woman. What a man.

After the match, Johnny Mundo hit Matanza with Moonlight Drive (Corkscrew neckbreaker) and End of the World (Corkscrew split-legged moonsault) before leaving the ring as Matanza quickly stood up and stared at Johnny Mundo at ringside.

I bet Matanza isn’t happy about that, but he got what he deserved. I expect Johnny Mundo Vs. Matanza at Ultima Lucha Cuatro because of this, but only time will tell.

Good match for what it was and good post-match as I’m interested to see if we get Johnny Mundo Vs. Matanza at Ultima Lucha Cuatro.

We then get an announcement from Matt Striker and Vampiro that at Ultima Lucha Cuatro, it will be Johnny Mundo Vs. Matanza, Son of Havoc Vs. Killshot in a Mask Vs. Mask match, Marty “The Moth” Martinez Vs. Pentagon Dark in a Cero Miedo match, The Mack Vs. Mil Muertes in a death match, and Dragon Azteca Jr. Vs. Fenix in a 2 Out of 3 Falls match. Looks to be an amazing card so far. Can’t wait to see what else is in store for Ultima Lucha Cuatro.

The Mack & Dragon Azteca Jr. Vs. Mil Muertes & Fenix in a tornado tag team match was excellent. Mark out moment! These four men went out there and delivered an awesome tag team match where neither man looked weak in the process.

The Mack & Dragon Azteca Jr. did excellent in this match as they tried to build momentum heading into Ultima Lucha Cuatro. The jumping tilt-a-whirl DDT from Dragon Azteca Jr. on Fenix looked devastating. The somersault dive on Mil Muertes from Dragon Azteca Jr. was well executed. The somersault dive from The Mack on Fenix and Mil Muertes was beautifully executed. Excellent work by The Mack & Dragon Azteca Jr. here.

Mil Muertes & Fenix did excellent in this match as well as they also tried to build momentum heading into Ultima Lucha Cuatro. The springboard somersault dive from Fenix on Dragon Azteca Jr. was well executed. The Frankensteiner from Fenix on The Mack was beautifully executed. The way Mil Muertes countered Dragon Azteca Jr.’s springboard crossbody into a spear was well done. Excellent work by Fenix & Mil Muertes here.

The ending of the match came when Fenix hit Dragon Azteca Jr. with a Muscle Buster spun into a Michinoku Driver II while Mil Muertes hit The Mack with a reverse STO to get the pin and win. A great win for Mil Muertes and Fenix as they look to continue their momentum heading into Ultima Lucha Cuatro.

Excellent Tornado tag team match and I’m looking forward to The Mack Vs. Mil Muertes in a death match and Dragon Azteca Jr. Vs. Fenix in a 2 Out of 3 Falls match at Ultima Lucha Cuatro.

The in-ring promo segment between Famous B and Ricky Mundo was good. Famous B was in the ring with Beautiful Brenda as Famous B said that he has recovered from the attack of Matanza during Johnny Mundo’s and Taya’s wedding as he managed to rehab his leg and got back in fighting condition. He then said that he has signed an exclusive contract for himself as he’s coming out of retirement and will wrestle again.

As Famous B was about to speak more, Ricky Mundo came out with his doll as he told Famous B to shut up as he plans to end Famous B right here as the referee came in and the began soon began.

It looks like Ricky Mundo has some bad plans for Famous B here and let’s see what Ricky Mundo has in mind for Famous B.

Good in-ring promo segment and let’s get to the match between Famous B and Ricky Mundo.

Famous B Vs. Ricky Mundo was a good match. Famous B has made his in-ring return to Lucha Underground! Mark out moment! Nice to see Famous B back in the ring and even though he’s not the best wrestler in the world, he is a talented guy in the ring so glad to see him back in action.

Famous B did well in this match as he tried to show that he’s better than ever in the ring. His backflip kick on Ricky Mundo was well executed. Ricky Mundo did well in this match too as he tried to send a message to Worldwide Underground. His lariat on Famous B looked devastating. Good work by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Ricky Mundo hit Famous B with a neckbreaker driver for the pin and win. A good win for Ricky Mundo as he plans to make a statement in Lucha Underground.

After the match, Beautiful Brenda checked on Famous B as Ricky Mundo grabbed a mic and said that Johnny Mundo and Taya has left early which is a shame because he admitted that he was the one who freed Matanza and ruined the wedding of Johnny Mundo and Taya. He said that Johnny Mundo has been treating him poorly for years and because of that, he decided to ruin their wedding because of it. He then said that as long as Taya is around, Johnny Mundo will never respect him. He then issued a challenge to Taya at Ultima Lucha Cuatro as he plans to send a message to her as he applied the crossface on Beautiful Brenda until Beautiful Brenda passed out as Ricky Mundo celebrates with his doll.

It looks like we got ourselves another match for Ultima Lucha Cuatro possibly with Taya Vs. Ricky Mundo. Let’s see if Taya will accept the challenge.

Good match and good post-match as I’m looking forward to the possible match between Taya and Ricky Mundo at Ultima Lucha Cuatro.

Pentagon Dark Vs. Reklusa was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Reklusa has made her in-ring debut in Lucha Underground! Mark out moment! Man, I didn’t expect Reklusa to do so well in this match against Pentagon Dark, but she delivered so props to her.

Reklusa did excellent in this match as she tried to hurt Pentagon Dark for Marty “The Moth” Martinez at Ultima Lucha Cuatro. Her diving hurricanrana on Pentagon Dark to the floor was impressive. Her suicide dive into a Tornado DDT on Pentagon Dark to the floor was well executed.

Pentagon Dark did excellent in this match as well as he tried to send a message to Marty “The Moth” Martinez towards Ultima Lucha Cuatro. The powerbomb from Pentagon Dark on Reklusa on the ring apron looked like it killed Reklusa there. His superkicks on Reklusa looked like it murdered Reklusa there.

There were several points in the match where I thought it was over as either competitor could have won this match. There was a spot where Pentagon Dark hit Reklusa with a pumphandle half nelson driver, but Reklusa managed to kick out. Wow, I didn’t expect Reklusa to kick out there. That was impressive. There was another spot where Pentagon Dark hit a package piledriver on Reklusa on the ring apron, but Reklusa managed to kick out of that. Dang, Reklusa is tough. Amazing. There was a spot where Reklusa hit a front flip piledriver on Pentagon Dark, but Pentagon Dark managed to kick out. Man, just like Reklusa, Pentagon Dark just won’t go down. Incredible. Excellent work by both competitors here.

The ending of the match came when Pentagon Dark hit Reklusa with a package piledriver for the pin and win. A good win for Pentagon Dark as he’s looking strong heading into Ultima Lucha Cuatro and despite Reklusa losing, she was extremely impressive in this match so she had nothing to be ashamed of for losing.

After the match, Pentagon Dark was about to break the arm of Reklusa, but ended up grabbing thumbtacks from under the ring and laid them out on the ring. Pentagon Dark then was about to hit a package piledriver to Reklusa to the thumbtacks, but Marty “The Moth” Martinez came in and attacked Pentagon Dark with a barbed wire baseball bat. Marty “The Moth” Martinez then told Reklusa to get something under the ring as Reklusa got gasoline and poured it on Pentagon Dark as Marty “The Moth” Martinez has a lighter in hand before beating Pentagon Dark some more with a barbed wire baseball bat. He then was about to sent Pentagon Dark on fire before blowing out the lighter.

Man, I really thought that Marty “The Moth” Martinez was going to put Pentagon Dark on fire there, but I guess he was just making a statement to Pentagon Dark that he can be as dangerous as him so Pentagon Dark has a lot out for him at Ultima Cuatro. Looking forward to the match. Should be awesome.

Excellent match and great post-match as I’m looking forward to Marty “The Moth” Martinez Vs. Pentagon Dark in a Cero Miedo match for the Lucha Underground Championship at Ultima Lucha Cuatro.

Overall, a great show that helps build up Ultima Lucha Cuatro in three weeks. So many storylines and feuds here and I love it! Next week, we’re going to have the fallout of this show and the road to Ultima Lucha Cuatro continues which should be great, looking forward to that. If you haven’t already, please check out Lucha Underground. It’s a great alternative to mainstream wrestling and you won’t be disappointed. Looking forward to next week’s show. Lucha! Lucha! Lucha! Lucha!
