205 Live on October 17, 2018, was a great show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:
We start off the show with a video package of Drake Maverick talking about the events of what happened at Super Show-Down and last week’s show as well as hyping up Cedric Alexander Vs. Tony Nese Vs. TJP Vs. Gran Metalik Vs. Lio Rush. This is good as it showed what happened for the past few weeks as well as hyping up the main event of the show. Well produced video package here.
Akira Tozawa Vs. Drew Gulak was a good match for what it was. As Drew Gulak was making his entrance to the ring, we see a recap of what happened two weeks ago when Drew Gulak and Gentleman Jack Gallagher turned on The Brian Kendrick. I have a feeling that The Brian Kendrick will appear in this match, but only time will tell. Gentleman Jack Gallagher was at ringside to support Drew Gulak in this match.
Drew Gulak did well in this match as he tried to show that there’s no mercy in 205 Live. His powerbomb on Akira Tozawa looked devastating. Akira Tozawa did well in this match too as he tried to get revenge on Drew Gulak and Gentleman Jack Gallagher for attacking him a few weeks back. His suicide dive on Drew Gulak and Gentleman Jack Gallagher to the outside was beautifully executed. Good work by both men here.
The ending of the match came when Akira Tozawa was about to hit Drew Gulak with the diving senton, but Gentleman Jack Gallagher pushed Akira Tozawa off the ropes to cause the disqualification. A shame that the match ended the way it did as it was starting to get better, but it is what it is.
After the match, Drew Gulak joined in to attack Akira Tozawa with Gentleman Jack Gallagher until The Brian Kendrick came in and threw out Drew Gulak out of the ring and brawled with Gentleman Jack Gallagher. The Brian Kendrick then locked Gentleman Jack Gallagher with The Captain’s Hook (Grounded reverse chinlock) until Drew Gulak pulled Gentleman Jack Gallagher out of the ring as they retreated up the ramp. The Brian Kendrick then checked on Akira Tozawa and helped him out as Akira Tozawa is unsure of The Brian Kendrick’s actions.
After the history between Akira Tozawa and The Brian Kendrick, I don’t blame Akira Tozawa for feeling hesitant towards The Brian Kendrick. However, they both have a common enemy against Drew Gulak and Gentleman Jack Gallagher so they might team with each other to take down, but only time will tell.
Good match and good post-match as I’m looking forward to the possible match between Akira Tozawa & The Brian Kendrick Vs. Drew Gulak & Gentleman Jack Gallagher.
The backstage segment between Drake Maverick, Buddy Murphy, and Tony Nese was good. Drake Maverick was on his phone until Buddy Murphy and Tony Nese came in as Drake Maverick congratulated Buddy Murphy on his WWE Cruiserweight Championship win. Buddy Murphy then thanked Drake Maverick and told him that he would have been champion a long time ago, but it happened. Tony Nese then said that he will prove his worth when he defeats four other men as Buddy Murphy and Tony Nese fist bumped with each other and left.
Buddy Murphy and Tony Nese are looking to make a name for themselves in the cruiserweight division going forward so we’ll see how that turns out for them. Good backstage segment here.
The video promo from Mike & Maria Kanellis was good. Mike Kanellis said that his attack on Lince Dorado last week was nothing personal, but business. Maria Kanellis said that they have the opportunity to showcase themselves and last week was their opportunity. Mike Kanellis then said that the new power couple has arrived in 205 Live as Mike Kanellis kissed Maria Kanellis to end the promo.
The power couple is here on 205 Live and they plan to make a statement. We’ll see how they do going forward. Good video promo here.
We then get an announcement that next week, it will be Lince Dorado Vs. Mike Kanellis. Should be an interesting match next week as well as the in-ring debut of Mike Kanellis in the cruiserweight division.
The backstage promo from Hideo Itami was good. Hideo Itami was speaking in Japanese until he said that Mustafa Ali should have respected him and now he plans to end his career next week in Falls Count Anywhere.
Hideo Itami is looking to end the career of Mustafa Ali, but we’ll see if Hideo Itami can end him next week in Falls Count Anywhere. Good backstage promo here.
The video promo from Mustafa Ali was great. Mustafa Ali talked about how he and Hideo Itami has been on this same road for a long time and it’s time for that road to end as he plans to beat Hideo Itami once and for all.
Mustafa Ali is looking to finish Hideo Itami for what he did to him and he plans to do it in the Falls Count Anywhere match next week. Great video promo here.
We then get an announcement that next week, it will be Mustafa Ali Vs. Hideo Itami in a Falls Count Anywhere match. This match should be awesome and I can’t wait to see these two stars tear each other apart.
Cedric Alexander Vs. Gran Metalik Vs. Tony Nese Vs. Lio Rush Vs. Vs. TJP was an excellent match. Mark out moment! These five men went out there and tore the house down where neither man looked weak in the process. Buddy Murphy was watching the match backstage.
Cedric Alexander did excellent in this match as he tried to get back on track ever since losing the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. His springboard clothesline on Gran Metalik was well executed. The way he countered Lio Rush’s diving hurricanrana into a Lumbar Check (Belly-to-back suplex into a double knee backbreaker) was impressive. Excellent work by Cedric Alexander here.
Gran Metalik did excellent in this match as well as he tried to make a statement for himself in the cruiserweight division. His springboard moonsault on TJP to the outside was beautifully executed. Excellent work by Gran Metalik here.
Lio Rush did excellent in this match too as he tried to show the world why he is the “Man of the Hour”. His split-legged frog splash on Cedric Alexander was beautifully executed. Excellent work by Lio Rush here.
TJP also did excellent in this match as he tried to show the world why he is “The Cruisergreat”. The way he applied the kneebar on Tony Nese and Cedric Alexander looked painful as heck. Excellent work by TJP here.
Tony Nese did excellent in this match also as he tried to show the world why he is “The Premier Athlete”. His lariat on Cedric Alexander looked devastating. His one-armed powerbomb on Lio Rush to the outside on Cedric Alexander, TJP, and Gran Metalik was impressive. Excellent work by Tony Nese here.
The ending of the match came when Tony Nese rolled up Cedric Alexander with a schoolboy for the pin and win. Another great win for Tony Nese as he got the number of Cedric Alexander once again. I have a feeling that we’re going to get Buddy Murphy Vs. Tony Nese for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship in the future which should be great if it happens.
Excellent match and I can’t wait to see the possible match between Buddy Murphy and Tony Nese for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.
Overall, a great show for the ninety-ninth episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
