NXT Showcase: Baron Corbin

Topic/Subject: Today, I will be showing a promo that involves a lone wolf.

Wrestler: “The Lone Wolf” Baron Corbin.

Background Information: Baron Corbin is from Lenexa, Kansas. He was a former NFL Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals offensive lineman. He was also a three-time Golden Gloves champion and a grappling champion.

In 2012, he signed a contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and was assigned to its developmental territory, NXT Wrestling.

He made his televised debut on May 8, 2013, in NXT, but in a losing effort against Damien Sandow.

On May 29, 2013, he unsuccessfully participated in a #1 contendership battle royal for the NXT Championship, being eliminated early in the match by Mason Ryan.

Afterward, he made several appearances as an enhancement talent, with the battle royal to determine the #1 contender to the NXT Championship on May 8, 2014 being his last televised match prior to his re-debut.

He would then be re-packaged after a long absence on NXT Takeover II, defeating CJ Parker in his official re-debut match at the special event.

He would then win many matches in the least amount of time until crossing paths with Bull Dempsey, who also has won his matches shortly, to see who can one-up each other in having the least amount of time in their matches.

On NXT Takeover: R Evolution, he would have a staredown with Dempsey while exiting from the ring to the ramp after winning his match that night.

On January 14, 2015, on an edition of NXT, their highly anticipated one on one match was finally held in which he won also breaking Dempsey’s undefeated streak in the process.

He advanced to the semi-finals of an NXT Championship number one contender’s tournament by defeating Bull Dempsey, but was eliminated by Adrian Neville, ending his undefeated streak. It was later announced that he would have a no disqualification match with Dempsey at the NXT special event, NXT Takeover: Rival.

He then feuds with other NXT talents such as Rhyno, Samoa Joe, Apollo Crews, and Austin Aries from 2015 to 2016.

He made a surprise appearance during WrestleMania XXXII’s Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal, which he would go on to win.

The following night on April 4, 2016, on an edition of RAW, he would make his debut in a match against Dolph Ziggler which resulted in a count out against both men.

He feuded with Ziggler, culminating in a match on WWE Payback’s Kickoff Show, he gathered his first loss.

He still competes in WWE to this day.

With the look he has and with him improving each week, the man has the potential to be a big star for WWE one day.

My Thoughts: Baron Corbin is a very interesting individual. At first, he lacked charisma and in-ring ability when he first started wrestling in NXT. Despite that, he had an excellent look, he has a big presence about him in and outside of the ring, and he had an interesting character. However, as time goes on, he got better with his charisma and in-ring ability to make him a better well-rounded wrestler. End of Days!

Video: This video contains a promo by Baron Corbin on February 11, 2015.

My Thoughts: This was a decent promo from Baron Corbin who just got a victory over Bull Dempsey at NXT Takeover: Rival.

Baron Corbin talks about how he already beat Bull Dempsey three times already and he is looking to do bigger and better things in NXT.

He then talks about what he did after the match with the smug smile on his face sitting in a chair as he said that Bull Dempsey deserve what he deserved to end the interview.

Baron Corbin during this time was still very iffy on the mic. However, he did managed to get his point across as he’s more with actions than words so it was at least passable, but could have been better.

However, after one year during this time, Baron Corbin became a lot better than what he was before. Now granted, is he the best talent in the world? No. However, the man has improved a lot since he first started and he’s only going to get better from here.

If booked right, Baron Corbin could be a huge player for WWE as a main eventer and a world champion. End of Days!

After watching the video, give me your thoughts on the video or the wrestler himself. Thank you.
