NXT 7/13/16 Review: The King Dethrones The Icon

WWE NXT live event results

NXT on July 13, 2016 was an excellent show that involved one match throughout the whole show. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package hyping up Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Finn Balor later on the show. This is good as it helps build up the main event later on the show which should be excellent. Good video package here.

We then see footage of Finn Balor and Shinsuke Nakamura getting ready for their match later on the show. This is good as it shows how ready both competitors are for their match later on the show, it should be excellent.

The promo segment between Samoa Joe and Rhyno was good. Samoa Joe came out to the ring and said that he’ll be watching Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Finn Balor later on the show. He then talked about how he feel insulted as people are talking about Shinsuke Nakamura possibly being #1 Contender to the NXT Championship if he wins his match, but he’s not going to make that happen.

He then said that he defeated Finn Balor so he won’t be winning against Shinsuke Nakamura. As for Shinsuke Nakamura, Samoa Joe said that he will be the emperor of NXT and he will take down Shinsuke Nakamura if he’s trying to take his place. Samoa Joe then said that if anyone wants to be around here, they have to go through him first.

This led to Rhyno coming out to the ring and he wants to go through Samoa Joe to get to the top. Samoa Joe then smirked at Rhyno as he left the ring and shouted to Rhyno that they’ll fight in his own time and not his.

So it seems like we’ll be getting a small feud between Samoa Joe and Rhyno for the time being until a new contender for the NXT Championship happens. It should be a good match when it happens and I’ll be looking forward to it.

Good promo segment and I’m looking forward to seeing Samoa Joe Vs. Rhyno in the near future.

It was announced that next week, it will be Bayley Vs. Nia Jax, American Alpha Vs. Authors of Pain, and Rhyno Vs. Samoa Joe. Should be good matches next week and it makes sense for them to happen. Looking forward to it.

We then get another video package which hypes up Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Finn Balor later on the show from last week. This was good as it helps up build the main event between the two of them as it shows people why these two are having a match against each other on this show. It should be an excellent match and let’s start talking about it right now!

Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Finn Balor was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Wow, these two went out there and deliver an excellent match. Remarkable!

The entrances for these two were astounding as always, but I love how they spend a lot of time with the entrances to make this match feel more special than it is. Mark out moment for both entrances! Not only that, I love that they did the special introduction for the match with the lights off and the lights only shining on the wrestlers in the match which is awesome as they deserve it. I haven’t even talked about the match yet so let’s get to it!

Both men were very impressive in this match and they were both very evenly matched to the point where I thought either man could have won.

Finn Balor was excellent in this match as he tried to take out Shinsuke Nakamura’s left leg throughout the match to lower the strength of Shinsuke Nakamura’s Kinshasa. Great in-ring psychology from Finn Balor there.

Shinsuke Nakamura was excellent in this match as well as he showed why he is one of the best wrestlers in the world today. Though, at times, I wished Shinsuke Nakamura would sell his left leg more, bt other than that, an incredible performance by “The King of Strong Style”. YeaOh!

Now, they were even points to the match where I thought either man could win just like how Shinsuke Nakamura almost beat Finn Balor with the Kinshasa to the back of the head.

There was even a point that I thought Finn Balor would win this match as he hit a reverse 1916 onto Shinsuke Nakamura, but he managed to kick out of it.

I really love the expressions that Shinsuke Nakamura and Finn Balor made during this match every time they were so close of winning the match. Expressions like that can really add into that match showing the wrestlers how they feel on their opponents kicking out of their moves and think to themselves, what do I have to do to beat this guy and so forth. Excellent job on both men with the expressions in this match.

The ending of the match came when Shinsuke Nakamura hit a Kinshasa onto Finn Balor for the pin and win. After the match, they shook hands and showed respect for each other to end the show with Shinsuke Nakamura celebrating in the ring.

The way the crowd was showing respect to Finn Balor after the match made it feel like this will be the last match that Finn Balor will have in NXT. If that’s the case, then thank you Finn Balor! Thank you Finn Balor for all the memorable matches and moments you have done for NXT. Hope you have great success on the main roster and thank you Finn Balor!

With this win for Shinsuke Nakamura, I can see him being the next #1 Contender for the NXT Championship and when that match happens, I can’t wait for it as Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Samoa Joe is another dream match of mines. Hope it will happen soon. YeaOh!

Excellent match and I can’t wait to see what happens next with Shinsuke Nakamura in NXT. Also, thank you Finn Balor!

Overall, excellent show that involved one match throughout the entire show and it was excellent. Next week, we’re going to get Bayley Vs. Nia Jax, American Alpha Vs. Authors of Pain, and Rhyno Vs. Samoa Joe which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
