Ultima Lucha Dos 7/13/16 Review: Death Has Come for The Hunter

Published

on

Ultima Lucha Dos on July 13, 2016 was an excellent show that had excellent matches and great moments throughout the show as the second season of Lucha Underground is coming to an end. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a recap of what happened between Night Claw, Dario Cueto, Daga, Killshot, Marty Martinez, Siniestro de la Muerte, Sexy Star, Mariposa, King Cuerno, Mil Muertes, and Catrina earlier in the season of Lucha Underground Season 2. This is a good way to remind people about what happened during that time in case they missed it or forgot about it as this week, the people from the recap appeared on the show. Well done and well produced.

Night Claw Vs. Daga Vs. Killshot Vs. Marty Martinez Vs. Siniestro de la Muerte Vs. Sexy Star Vs. Mariposa in an elimination match for the Gift of the Gods Championship was excellent. Mark out moment! Now, before I talk about the match itself, I have said this many times in Lucha Underground and I will say it again. Lucha Underground, have entrances for your wrestlers please! Thank you.

Since this match was an elimination match, I will talk about this match similar to the match I talked about with the Six to Survive match a few weeks ago. Anyway, let’s get started.

The match between all of the seven wrestlers was good. Everyone in this match started well in the beginning expect for Siniestro de la Muerte who barely did anything in this match.

This was Night Claw’s debut match in Lucha Underground! Mark out moment! Night Claw did very well here in this match as he fought pretty well against the other six competitors in this match.

I love how this match started off with Killshot and Marty Martinez as well as Sexy Star and Mariposa fighting each other as those four have beef and history with each other so that was a great continuation of feuds and storylines there. Also, during the match, Kobra Moon appeared from ringside supporting Daga, but she didn’t really do anything in the match expect supporting Daga.

The first elimination came when Night Claw hit a standing moonsault side slam onto Siniestro de la Muerte to eliminate him from the match. With Night Claw’s first match on Lucha Underground, he’s already making a huge impact as he eliminated one of the competitors in Gift of the Gods Championship match. I was very surprised that the first eliminaton came quickly with two minutes and thirty seconds, but it is what it is. Good start for the match.

The match between the six wrestlers was great. The pacing of the match started to pick up and the match started to get more interesting. Daga and Night Claw were very impressive in this match as they continue to show off their skills being the newcomers in Lucha Underground. Also, the dives from everyone to each other from the outside was very cool to see as well.

The second elimination came when Night Claw hit a corkscrew 450 splash onto Daga to eliminate him from the match. Wow, Night Claw is on a roll in this match getting two eliminations in a row. Very impressive debut by Night Claw in Lucha Underground thus far. Once Daga got eliminated, Kobra Moon left as well probably to check on Daga. Great match between these six wrestlers.

The match between the five wrestlers was excellent. The match became better and better every time a wrestler has been eliminated, it was incredible. There was one point in the match where Night Claw hit a moonsault from the top of Dario Cueto’s office to the floor on everyone else! Mark out moment! Man, Night Claw is the MVP of this match! Everything he did in this match was insane. I’m glad that he got a great showcase for himself here in this match. Marvelous!

The third elimination came when Killshot hit a Storm Cradle Driver onto Night Claw to eliminate him from the match. Wow, I did not expect Night Claw to get eliminated this early in the match as I expect him to be in the final two of this match, but regardless, despite Night Claw being eliminated in this match, he had an impressive showing in this match as I expect him to get a big push in Season 3 of Lucha Underground. Despite not winning the match, Night Claw was the MVP of this match and he’s going to be a future star in Lucha Underground. Excellent match between five wrestlers.

Killshot Vs. Marty Martinez Vs. Sexy Star Vs. Mariposa was excellent as well. With these four despising one another, you knew they were going to tear each other apart and they did in this match.

I love the teamwork that Killshot and Sexy Star did in this match in order to counter Marty Martinez and Mariposa who they are feuding or were feuding against which was nice.

The fourth elimination came when Marty Martinez hit a Curb Stomp onto Killshot followed by a Kudo Driver (Back-to-back double underhook piledriver) onto Killshot by Mariposa to get Killshot eliminated from the match. Good teamwork from Marty Martinez and Mariposa in this match. I assume that the feud between Killshot and Marty Martinez will continue at Season 3 of Lucha Underground which is fine by me. Excellent match between these four.

Sexy Star Vs. Mariposa Vs. Marty Martinez was great. I like how Sexy Star has to try to overcome the odds by facing her biggest enemies to date in Lucha Underground with Marty Martinez and Mariposa. Once again, Marty Martinez and Mariposa worked together in order to try to eliminate Sexy Star, but with Sexy Star’s heart, it won’t be easy to get the win on her.

The fifth elimination came when Marty Martinez accidentally hit Mariposa with a knockout punch as Sexy Star dodged it. She then pin Mariposa to eliminate her from the match. I have no problem with the finish as if Sexy Star actually pin her and possibly Marty Martinez to win the match, it may be a little too much so I was fine with the finish. Great match between these three.

Sexy Star Vs. Marty Martinez was great. The match between these two told a great story in where Sexy Star has to go face the man that has tortured her throughout the whole season this season in Marty Martinez as Marty Martinez did everything he could to make Sexy Star miserable once again, but Sexy Star kept fighting back in order to try to overcome and beat Marty Martinez.

The ending came when Sexy Star made Marty Martinez tap out to an armbreaker and Sexy Star becomes the new Gift of the Gods Champion! Mark out moment! Congratulations to Sexy Star for winning the Gift of the Gods Championship! Sexy Star has gone through a lot this season and for her to finally win gold in Lucha Underground makes me feel merry. To me, she is probably one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world and for her to win, it made me feel happy so congratulations to Sexy Star on being the new Gift of the Gods Champion! You deserve it.

Excellent seven way elimination match and congratulations to Sexy Star on becoming the new Gift of the Gods Champion!

The video segment between The Cop Crew was good. Joey Ryan and Cortez Castro are setting up Mr. Cisco with his wire so that he can help them get information on Dario Cueto. Mr. Cisco then tells The Cops that he’s scared of doing this as he thinks Dario Cueto is going to kill him, but The Cops tells him that he’ll be fine to end the segment.

Aw, poor Mr. Cisco for having to do something he doesn’t want to do. It will be intriguing on what happens when Mr. Cisco enters Dario Cueto’s office as the storyline is very interesting thus far. Good video segment here.

Mil Muertes Vs. King Cuerno in a Death match was excellent. Mark out moment! Wow, when I say that this match was going to be brutal, it was brutal. These two totally annihilated each other to the point where I don’t think either man will ever be the same again.

King Cuerno was excellent in this match as he tried everything he can to take down Mil Muertes. His suicide dive and tornado DDT from the outside to Mil Muertes was awesome. The dive that King Cuerno did from the bleachers onto Mil Muertes from the floor was insane! Mark out moment! King Cuerno was going for the kill there! At one point, he even threw Mil Muertes’ head to a glass window! King Cuerno was excellent in this match so big props to him.

However, even though King Cuerno was excellent in this match, the MVP of this match goes to Mil Muertes. Mil Muertes in this match was a beast. He nearly demolished King Cuerno in this match to the point where I thought King Cuerno was out. The way he did not sold the glass window was monster like as he threw King Cuerno’s head through the glass window! Mark out moment! It looked like it hurt a lot. Props for King Cuerno taking that spot.

The ending of the match came when Mil Muertes hit a spear to King Cuerno through a table as King Cuerno was trying to choke out Catrina, followed by three powerbombs on King Cuerno through three tables, followed by a crowbar to the back of King Cuerno’s neck, and finished him off with a tombstone piledriver for the pin and win! Wow, just wow, Mil Muertes just killed King Cuerno in this match as King Cuerno took a lot of punishment in this match. Props to King Cuerno for taking all that punishment and congratulations to Mil Muertes on winning this match.

After the match, the medical staff came in and escorted King Cuerno out of the temple. I guess this was the way to write off King Cuerno for Season 3 of Lucha Underground as he has an injury a few months ago and is still recovering from it so I doubt he’ll appear in Season 3 for Lucha Underground. Thank you King Cuerno for this excellent Death Match. I hope he recovers soon and hopefully he will appear for Season 4 of Lucha Underground.

With this win, Mil Muertes is more dangerous than ever. I’m interested to see who Mil Muertes will feud with in Season 3 of Lucha Underground. Either way, death has arrived!

Excellent Death Match and I can’t wait to see who Mil Muertes will feud with in Season 3 of Lucha Underground. Also, get better soon King Cuerno!

We then get a video package to hype up Matanza Vs. Pentagon Jr. for the Lucha Underground Championship next week as they show footage of Vampiro Vs. Pentagon Jr. at Ultima Lucha and Vampiro being Pentagon Jr.’s master. After the video package was done being shown, Vampiro was shown putting his medication into a trash can as he prepares Pentagon Jr. for his match next week.

That was a great video package to get make me more hyped for the match next week. Also, I love how they connect the storyline with Vampiro and Pentagon Jr. together from Season 1 which was a nice touch. Plus, it seems like Vampiro will be at Pentagon Jr.’s corner next week which should be great. Looking forward to the match next week. Great video package here.

The backstage segment between Dario Cueto, Mr. Cisco, and The Cops was great. Mr. Cisco comes into Dario Cueto’s office as he tries to talk with Dario Cueto. However, Dario Cueto knows what Mr. Cisco is up to as he finds the wire on Mr. Cisco. Dario Cueto then dares Mr. Cisco to call the cops as he grabs the red bull statue to kill Mr. Cisco as The Cops listen to the background. Dario Cueto then calls someone on his phone with bloody hands and says that it’s time to end the segment.

Oh my god, Dario Cueto is a murderer! You murderer! How dare you murder Mr. Cisco! I was starting to like him too. Dang you Dario Cueto!

However, at the same time, I can’t be mad at him because he’s such a great villain and he showed that in this segment. I’m really curious on who Dario Cueto was calling on the phone as well as what his plans are. I guess that answer will be solved in Season 3 of Lucha Underground. Great backstage segment here to end the show.

Overall, excellent show that had excellent matches and great moments throughout the whole show. Now, comparing Ultima Lucha Dos with Ultima Lucha will come once Ultima Lucha Dos is done. Till then, we should enjoy Ultima Lucha Dos for the time being. Next week, the final part of Ultima Lucha Dos will begin and I can’t wait! It should be great. If you haven’t already, please check out Lucha Underground. It’s a great alternative to the mainstream wrestling and you won’t be disappointed. Looking forward to next week’s show. Lucha! Lucha! Lucha! Lucha!
