The Cruiserweight Classic on July 20, 2016 was a great show. CWC will showcase 32 cruiserweight wrestlers from around the world compete in a single elimination tournament in order to become the best cruiserweight wrestler in the world. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with Mauro Ranallo and Daniel Bryan talking about the Cruiserweight Classic on how people on social media love the show. This is good as it shows the interaction with the fans and WWE which is nice to see. Plus, the Cruiserweight Classic is starting off very well so it’s great to see the reception it got.

We then go to Corey Graves as he shows the recap on what happened last week in the Cruiserweight Classic. This is good as it shows what happened last week in case people missed it or forgot about it.

Tajiri Vs. Damian Slater was a great match. Before the match, both Tajiri and Damian Slater shook hands.

Tajiri is known for his work in ECW, WWE, and Wrestle-1 recently with his buzz-saw kicks. Mark out moment for Tajiri for being in the CWC! I expect him to help the young and unknown talent within this tournament while making himself look good in the process. It’s great to see him back in a WWE ring.

Damian Slater is known for his work in WR and EFW in Australia and he is a rising star in the Australian wrestling scene. Mark out moment for Damian Slater for being in the CWC! For more information on who Damian Slater is, here’s a video about him.

Like I said earlier, the match was great. Both men were very impressive in this match as it was the seasoned veteran going up against the young and hungry Australian to move on to the second round of the tournament.

I have watched Tajiri in action before as I saw his work in ECW, WWE, and Wrestle-1, and despite being up there in age, the man still has it in the ring. His buzz-saw kicks still have impact and he hasn’t really lost a step in a WWE ring. Great performance by Tajiri here.

I have watched Damian Slater in Australia and he was impressive in this match as he got some pretty good offense on Tajiri in the match with the corkscrew plancha and the Tornado DDT. Great performance by Damian Slater here.

Tajiri wins this match as the referee calls the wrestlers in and raises Tajiri’s hand and declares him the winner.

Great match and with that, Tajiri moves on to the second round of the Cruiserweight Classic where he will face Gran Metalik which should be a great match.

TJ Perkins Vs. Da Mack was an excellent match. Mark out moment! TJ Perkins and Da Mack both shook hands before the match.

TJ Perkins is known for his work in NJPW, ROH, TNA, and EVOLVE where he wrestles currently. Mark out moment for TJ Perkins for being in the CWC! The man has gone through a lot in his wrestling career and now he’s here to show the world how he makes wrestling look too easy.

Da Mack is known his work in wXw as he’s one of the best wrestlers in Germany today. Mark out moment for Da Mack for being in the CWC! For more information on who Da Mack is, here’s a video about him.

Like I said earlier, this match was excellent as both men not only showed their great wrestling ability, but also showed their charisma in the ring as well.

I have watched TJ Perkins throughout his career in NJPW, ROH, TNA, and EVOLVE, and he got to show in this match why he makes wrestling look to easy. I also love how TJ Perkins was doing his poses while he has Da Mack in his submission holds showing the guy’s charisma which is nice to see. Excellent performance by TJ Perkins here.

I have watched Da Mack in wXw and just like TJ Perkins, he managed to show his charisma in this match with the moonwalk and so forth. His diving spinning cannonball senton and his diving roundhouse kick looked great and made Da Mack look excellent in this match. Excellent performance by Da Mack here.

TJ Perkins wins this match here as the referee calls the wrestlers in and raises TJ Perkins’ hand and declares him the winner. After the match, they both shook hands for sportsmanship.

Excellent match and with that, TJ Perkins moves on to the second round of the Cruiserweight Classic.

Mustafa Ali Vs. Lince Dorado was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Mustafa Ali slapped Lince Dorado’s hand when they shook hands and when the bell rang, Mustafa Ali immediately went after Lince Dorado and attacked him while his back was turned. Again, great to see some character here and Mustafa Ali did just that so props for him trying to get heat on himself.

Mustafa Ali is also known as Prince Mustafa Ali who has wrestled in DREAMWAVE Wrestling and is one of the best wrestlers today with Pakistan heritage. For more information on who Mustafa Ali is, here’s a video on him.

Lince Dorado is known for his work in Chikara and FIP as he’s one of the best luchadores today representing Puerto Rico. Mark out moment for Lince Dorado being in the CWC! For more information on Lince Dorado, here’s a video about him.

Like I said earlier, this match was excellent as either of these men could have gotten the victory for another. This match was so excellent for a Cruiserweight match that even the crowd chanted, “This is awesome!” which is awesome so hands off to both men in this match.

Despite not knowing a lot about Mustafa Ali as I do watch DREAMWAVE Wrestling, but not a lot, he has really impressed me in this match as he does moves that a lot of wrestlers don’t usually do. The rolling through the middle ropes to hit a jumping neckbreaker, his jumping to the other rope to hit a moonsault side slam, and despite missing, his reverse 450 splash were executed perfectly. If people don’t know the name Mustafa Ali, they do now as he was excellent in this match. Excellent performance by Mustafa Ali here.

I have watched Lince Dorado before in action with his work in Chikara and FIP, and he got to show a lot in this match. His back springboard into a reverse hurricanrana and his shooting star press look fantastic. Excellent performance by Lince Dorado here.

Lince Dorado wins this match here as the referee calls the wrestlers in and raises Lince Dorado’s hand and declares him the winner.

Excellent match and with that, Lince Dorado moves on to the second round of the Cruiserweight Classic.

Akira Tozawa Vs. Kenneth Johnson was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Akira Tozawa and Kenneth Johnson both shook hands before the match.

Akira Tozawa is known for his work in Dragon Gate and he’s one of the best Japanese wrestlers in Japan today. Mark out moment for Akira Tozawa for being in the CWC! For more information on Akira Tozawa, here’s a video about him.

A lot is not known about Kenneth Johnson, but for information, here’s a video about him.

Like I said earlier, this match was excellent as these two were evenly matched as either man could have won and move on to the second round of the tournament.

I have seen work from Akira Tozawa in Dragon Gate and he was extremely impressive in this match as he managed to show his charisma here with his yells and punching Kenneth Johnson to the face instead of chopping him back after the series of chops to each other which is nice to see. Also, his German suplexes were incredible here where is he mainly known his German suplexes. Excellent performance by Akira Tozawa here.

This is the first time I ever see Kenneth Johnson in action here and what he displayed here was very impressive. I was very surprised that he went toe to toe with Akira Tozawa in a very competitive match. His moves were also very unique in this match with the backslide into a double knee facebreaker and the reverse inverted double underhook facebuster. Even though I didn’t know who Kenneth Johnson was at first, I do know him now. Excellent performance by Kenneth Johnson here.

Akira Tozawa wins this match here as the referee calls the wrestlers in and raises Akira Tozawa’s hand and declared him the winner.

Excellent match and with that, Akira Tozawa moves on to the second round of the Cruiserweight Classic.

Overall, great show for the second show of the Cruiserweight Classic. Next week, we’ll see matches that involves Zack Sabre Jr., Tyson Dux, Drew Gulak, Harv Sihra, Anthony Bennett, Tony Nese, Raul Mendoza, and Brian Kendrick which should be great. Looking forward to next week’s show, it should be awesome.
