Topic/Subject: Today, I will be showing a video package that involves a team that are ready…, willing… and Gable!
Wrestlers: American Alpha (Chad Gable and Jason Jordan).
Background Information: Chad Gable is from Minneapolis, Minnesota. He won the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials at 84 kg GR and thus competed at the 2012 Olympics.
He won against Keitani Graham from the Federated States of Micronesia in the qualification round to proceed to face off against Pablo Shorey of Cuba, losing 3-0, thus eliminating him from the competition. He was a Minnesota high school state champion and is a graduate of Northern Michigan University.
He defeated Jordan Holm 2 to 0 at the finals of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials.
In November 2013, he announced that he had signed a contract with the professional wrestling promotion WWE. He was assigned to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.
He made his in-ring debut as Chad Gable at a NXT house show in Cocoa Beach, Florida on September 5, 2014, where he defeated Troy McClain.
On September 25, 2014, on a NXT taping, he lost to Dash Wilder. On February 6, 2015, he scored a win over Mike Rallis. Six days later on February 12, 2015, on a NXT taping, he defeated Rallis again.
On February 20, 2015, he lost to Solomon Crowe. On February 21, 2015, he defeated Michael Carter.
On April 3, 2015, on an edition of NXT, he teamed with allies Angelo Dawkins and Sawyer Fulton in a losing six-man tag team match against Mike Rallis, Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson.
Jason Jordan is from Chicago, Illinois. In high school, he was a three sport athlete playing football, wrestling, and baseball.
He was drafted straight out of high school for professional baseball, but passed up the offer to go to college and wrestle. He attended Indiana University and amateur wrestled in the toughest wresting conference in the country: the Big Ten. He became a three-time national qualifier for NCAA at the Division I level.
While wrestling at the Indiana University, he was ranked top 15 in the nation for three years in a row and was ranked as high as 2nd in the nation at heavyweight.
He was an unique and impressive athlete weighing 225 pounds while competing at the 285 pound weight class. He used speed and agility to overcome his bigger opposition. His senior year, he was undefeated in the regular season going 35-0.
He signed a developmental contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) in late 2011 and was sent to the developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) as Jason Jordan. He trained and wrestled there until the brand’s name changed during the following year.
An early match he had was a non-televised one on September 30, 2011, where he was Abraham Washington’s tag partner and they were defeated by Calvin Raines and Big E Langston.
On November 13, 2015, he had his first televised match where he teamed with Colin Cassady and Mike Dalton in a losing effort against The Ascension.
His first match on NXT TV was on June 17, 2012, as he lost to Jinder Mahal in a singles match. After a couple of non-televised house shows in July 2013, his first televised match in 2013 was on October 10, in a loss to Aiden English. His first match in 2014 was on January 9, when he and Marcus Louis lost to The Wyatt Family. He then ended up teaming with Tye Dillinger in late 2014 and early 2015.
During Spring 2015, he has left his partnership with Tye Dillinger which led to him competing in one time only tag match with other NXT competitors such as Sylvester Lefort.
Over the course in those weeks, Chad Gable kept trying to coax Jason Jordan into forming a team with him, only to be denied backstage.
On June 24, 2015, Chad Gable finally convinced Jason Jordan to team with him. They made their official tag team debut in a successful effort against Elias Samson and Steve Cutler.
At NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn, Jason Jordan who collectively teamed with Chad Gable along with Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson were defeated by the team of Enzo Amore, Colin Cassady, and The Hype Bros in a match that took place prior to the main show.
On September 2, 2015, they competed in the first round of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament, beating the team of Neville and Solomon Crowe. After defeating The Hype Bros, they would get eliminated from the tournament, by the team of Baron Corbin and Rhyno.
On January 8, 2016, on the NXT tapings, they began using the tag team name, American Alpha.
Throughout 2016, they began to feud with The Revival and Authors of Pain. Throughout their NXT careers, they became NXT Tag Team Champion.
On July 19, 2016, they were drafted to Smackdown Live! on the main roster. They still compete in WWE to this day as a tag team.
My Thoughts: American Alpha are a great tag team that are made for each other. With their amateur wrestling background and their charisma, this tag team could be one of the greatest tag team in wrestling today. Ready…, willing…, and Gable!
Video: This video contains a video package on American Alpha on March 29, 2016.
My Thoughts: This was a great video package that showed who American Alpha are. This video package was hyping up American Alpha as they were about to face The Revival at NXT Takeover: Dallas.
American Alpha talk about their careers as amateur wrestlers and how they were successful as amateur wrestlers, but they never won any championships as amateur wrestlers.
As a result, that’s why they think that they need each other in order to win championship gold as they are ready…, willing…, and Gable!
I love how they talk about their amateur wrestling careers and how they fallen short as it motivates them to work even harder to in order to win. This really helps the audience watching at home or anywhere around the world to show who they are, what the motives are, and why they want to win.
I wish more wrestling companies do these types of video packages as it could really help character development on wrestlers.
Great video package as it really shows who American Alpha are, what their motives, and why they want to win the NXT Tag Team Championships.
American Alpha is one of the best tag teams in wrestling today and they’re only going to get better from here. I wish them the best on the main roster as they are ready…, willing…, and Gable!
After watching the video, give me your thoughts on the video or the wrestlers themselves. Thank you.
