NXT 7/27/16 Review: King Vs. Machine at Brooklyn, YeaOh!

on

NXT on July 27, 2016 was a good show that is building up NXT Back to Brooklyn in three weeks. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Wesley Blake and it was a good match. Wesley Blake came without Buddy Murphy with a new entrance, new attire, and he got his first name back.

As Wesley Blake was making his way to the ring, we got a backstage segment earlier on the show where Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy argue about who is better between each other and that they’re going to prove it against their opponents towards each other. It seems like BAM Factor is really breaking up which upsets me, but I’m curious on how they will do as singles competitors so I wish them the best of luck even though I don’t want them to split up.

The match itself was good as Wesley Blake got to showcass his charisma in this match by blowing kisses towards Shinsuke Nakamura. He also managed to get some offense on Shinsuke Nakamura which is nice to see so a good performance by Wesley Blake here.

Shinsuke Nakamura is impressive as always as he gets to show his charisma inside the ring. I love how that he grabbed the kiss from Wesley Blake and threw them on the ground and stepping on it, that was awesome to see.

Shinsuke Nakamura got the pin and win by hitting Wesley Blake with the Kinshasa. Shinsuke Nakamura has been on a roll as of late so it wouldn’t surprise me if he becomes the next #1 Contender for the NXT Championship. Only time will tell.

Good match and I’m interested to see what’s next for Shinsuke Nakamura and Wesley Blake on NXT.

After the match, William Regal came out from the ramp and announced that at NXT Back to Brooklyn, it will be Samoa Joe Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the NXT Championship! Mark out moment! Holy shoot! I was right about Shinsuke Nakamura being the next #1 Contender for the NXT Championship! Yes! This should be an excellent match between these two and I can’t wait. Excellent announcement from William Regal here.

Relentless by Of Mice and Men will be a theme for NXT Back to Brooklyn. We then get a promo from Of Mice and Men talking about their song. Good promotion from Of Mice and Men here as they are a good band. Good song for NXT Back to Brooklyn. I can’t wait for the show, it should be great.

Santana Garrett Vs. Billie Kay was a good women’s match. Oh my god! Billie Kay made her re-debut on NXT with a new entrance and theme! Also, Santana Garrett made another appearance on NXT! Mark out moment for both!

Santana Garrett did well in this match as she managed to get offense on Billie Kay here. NXT, what are you waiting for?! Please sign her! Thank you.

Billie Kay did well in this match too, but I was expecting a lot more with her in this match as she is a very talented women’s wrestler who is known by Jessie McKay in her work in SHIMMER. The way she played her character in this match, it seems like Billie Kay may be a heel in NXT which is fine by me. Good performance by Billie Kay here, but I wanted more from her as I know she can do better.

Billie Kay got the pin and win in this match by hitting a big boot on Santana Garrett. I’m not really into her current finisher as I prefer her Boyfriend Stealer (Sitout uranage) finisher from her work in SHIMMER. Hopefully, she will pull off that finisher in the future or a better finisher than that big boot as I prefer the big boot to be a signature move.

With this win, it seems like Billie Kay will be getting a push in NXT which is great as Billie Kay is a very talented women’s wrestler. It will be interesting to see who she will feud with first in NXT.

Good women’s match and I’m interested to see where Billie Kay goes in NXT. Also, NXT, please sign Santana Garrett!

We then get a recap of what happened on WWE Battleground as Bayley was the partner for Sasha Banks against Charlotte and Dana Brooke. This is good as it shows what happened on WWE Battleground with that match and it gives Bayley more exposure to the world which is great to see. I don’t know if Bayley is moving up to the main roster or not, but wherever she ends up, I wish her the best.

The backstage segment between Bayley and William Regal was good. Bayley was talking to William Regal backstage as she wants a title match against Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Back to Brooklyn. William Regal then accepts Bayley’s offer as he will talk to Asuka about it.

Oh my god, we’re going to get Asuka Vs. Bayley at NXT Back to Brooklyn for the NXT Women’s Championship! Mark out moment! Yes, I got another match right! This should be another excellent match between the two and I can’t wait. Good backstage segment here.

We then get a vignette of a mysterious figure in a forest in a field of open grass as that person’s time is coming and it’s just the beginning. This was a very interesting vignette for someone who’s going to make their debut on NXT. Now, could it really be a debut for someone? I don’t know, but it does seem intriguing and I would love to see more of this. Hopefully, we’ll get that soon. For right now, my guess is Ember Moon or people known her as Athena from SHIMMER as she does love that type of environment, but we’ll see as time goes on.

TM-61 Vs. Rob Ryzin and Adrian Nailz was a good tag team match. Rob Ryzin and Adrian Nailz did alright in this match, but it was mainly TM-61 that dominated this match showing their impressive tag team wrestling skills.

TM-61 got the pin and win by hitting Thunder Valley on Adrian Nailz. After the match, Rob Ryzin and Adrian Nailz shook hands with TM-61 by showing respect to each other.

That was great to see from Rob Ryzin and Adrian Nailz there despite losing. As for TM-61, they continue to win as it looks they could be next in line for the NXT Tag Team Championships. It will be interesting to see what happens next with TM-61 in NXT because they are The Mighty and The Mighty Don’t Kneel!

Good tag team match and interested to see what’s next for TM-61 in NXT.

We then get a recap of the feud between No Way Jose and Austin Aries in NXT. This is good as it shows why these two are feuding with each other in the first place in case people forgot about or missed it. Well produced recap here.

We then get a vignette about Hideo Itami returning to NXT next week. Awesome! I can’t wait to see Hideo Itami back in the ring as it has been over a year since he last wrestled. I can’t wait to see him back next week. “The Rising Sun” is here to shine!

No Way Jose Vs. Steve Cutler was a good squash match. Wow, Steve Cutler managed to get an entrance, a theme, and a character. That’s cool to see. However, he didn’t do much in this match expect that one jab he threw against No Way Jose. Other than that, Steve Cutler managed to show character and personality which is good, but we need to see more of him in the ring and hopefully we’ll get that soon. Despite not doing much, Steve Cutler displayed his character well here.

However, No Way Jose was the one that has changed as he displayed a serious side of him in the ring. The moment that Steve Cutler threw a jab at him, No Way Jose snapped and completely decimated Steve Cutler as he got the pin and win over him with a wrist-lock full nelson slam. Loving that he’s showing a serious side of him in the ring which he needed if he wants to beat Austin Aries. No Way Jose!

After the match, No Way Jose got on the mic and talked about how he was trying to show Austin Aries the fun he’s bringing to NXT. He then said that Austin Aries took advantage of him and mistook him for something he’s not. No Way Jose then said that he could turn a fiesta into a fight and he thinks that Austin Aries is the biggest coward in NXT. He then said that there’s no stopping him and he would kick Austin Aries’ *ss.

Oh my god, wow! No Way Jose just showed a very serious side of him on the mic. Very good to see as it gives more character to No Way Jose. I think Austin Aries made a huge mistake for messing with No Way Jose. The feud between No Way Jose and Austin Aries should be interesting to see with the evolution of No Way Jose’s character. No Way Jose!

Good squash match and I can’t wait to see when No Way Jose and Austin Aries face off.

Kota Ibushi Vs. Buddy Murphy was a great match. Oh my god! Kota Ibushi just made his debut in NXT! Mark out moment! If you haven’t read my review for the CWC, then I suggest you do as I talked about Kota Ibushi there, but for a brief summary of him, he’s one of the best high flyers in wrestling today and he has appeared on NXT!

Kota Ibushi was very impressive in this match as he got to showcase his skills in the ring. That roundhouse kick by Kota Ibushi onto Buddy Murphy was amazing. This was probably one time appearance, but I really hope that NXT signs him because he’s a great talent and he is “The Golden Star”!

However, Buddy Murphy was great in this match as well as he got some good offense on Kota Ibushi. Despite not winning this match as Kota Ibushi got the pin and win on him with the lifting sitout powerbomb, Buddy Murphy proved a lot here in this match so big props to him.

Great match and NXT, please sign Kota Ibushi!

The backstage interview with Samoa Joe by Andrea D’Marco was good. Andrea D’Marco catches up with Samoa Joe backstage and asks him about his title match against Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT Back to Brooklyn. Samoa Joe says he feels disrespected and that he’s going to fix it right now.

So is Samoa Joe afraid of Shinsuke Nakamura or something? Either way, I want that match so Samoa Joe, fight him at NXT Back to Brooklyn! In all seriousness, Samoa Joe probably did this because he believes that Shinsuke Nakamura isn’t worthy of his championship, but I guess we’ll have to wait and see what Samoa Joe says. Good backstage interview here.

We got an annoucement that next week, Bobby Roode will make his debut on NXT! Mark out moment! Bobby Roode has been appearing on live events as of late so it’s about time for him to make his debut for NXT. I can’t wait for his debut next week as it pays to be Roode!

The promo segment between Samoa Joe, William Regal, and Shinsuke Nakamura was great. Samoa Joe came out to the ring and talked about how William Regal made a match for him without consulting him. Therefore, the match won’t be happening according to Samoa Joe because he thinks that Shinsuke Nakamura is unworthy of facing him at NXT Back to Brooklyn.

This led to William Regal coming out from the ramp and he told Samoa Joe that the decision is final. Samoa Joe responded with that he fights on who he wants to fight and that he had to go through every obstacle to win the NXT Championship as he believes that Shinsuke Nakamura hasn’t done what he has done in NXT to face him at NXT Back to Brooklyn.

William Regal then said that if Samoa Joe refuses to fight, Samoa Joe will have to forfeit the title as he will find someone else to face Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT Back to Brooklyn. Samoa Joe eventually accepted the match, but he warned William Regal that he’s going to destroy Shinsuke Nakamura just like he did Finn Balor.

This led to Shinsuke Nakamura coming out from the ramp as he stared at Samoa Joe while mock-bowing him to end the show. Wow, I’m even more hyped for this match than ever before. This should be an excellent match and I can’t wait to see it.

Great promo segment and I can’t wait to see Samoa Joe Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the NXT Championship at NXT Back to Brooklyn.

Overall, good show that is building up NXT Back to Brooklyn in three weeks. Next week, we’re going to have the return of Hideo Itami and the debut of Bobby Roode in NXT which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
