The Cruiserweight Classic on August 17, 2016 was a great show. CWC will showcase 32 cruiserweight wrestlers from around the world compete in a single elimination tournament in order to become the best cruiserweight wrestler in the world. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package showing highlights of Tajiri Vs. Gran Metalik and Kota Ibushi Vs. Cedric Alexander as well as showing the matches for this show with Akira Tozawa Vs. Jack Gallagher, Noam Dar Vs. HoHo Lun, and Brian Kendrick Vs. Tony Nese in the Cruiserweight Classic. This is good as it shows what happened with the matches last week in case people missed or forgot about it and it helps hype up the matches on the show. Well produced video package here.

We then see a vignette of Jack Gallagher and it’s a good vignette. Jack Gallagher talks about his in-ring style and how he’s a gentleman. The vignette also show highlights of his first round match against Fabian Aichner.

This is good as it shows who Jack Gallagher is as a character and how well he did in the first round of the Cruiserweight Classic. Whether Jack Gallagher wins this tournament or not, I hope to see him get a NXT contract. Good vignette here.

We then see a vignette of Akira Tozawa and it’s a good vignette. Akira Tozawa talks about his in-ring style as well as talking about how he has the best German suplex in wrestling today. The vignette also show highlights of his first round match against Kenneth Johnson.

This is good as it shows who Akira Tozawa is as a wrestler and how well he did in the first round of the Cruiserweight Classic. Whether Akira Tozawa wins this tournament or not, I hope to see him get a NXT contract. Good vignette here.

Jack Gallagher Vs. Akira Tozawa was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Before the match, both Jack Gallagher and Akira Tozawa shook hands.

Both men were very even in this match as either man could have gone on to the quarter-finals of the Cruiserweight Classic and it would be believable.

Jack Gallagher was excellent here as he got to show off more of his British technical wrestling in this match. His in-ring psychology by working on the leg of Akira Tozawa was perfect, excellent in-ring psychology there. Excellent performance by Jack Gallagher here.

Akira Tozawa was also excellent in this match as he got to show his strong style in this match. Akira Tozawa sold his leg pretty well throughout the match as Jack Gallagher was working on it and his German suplexes looked devastating. Excellent performance by Akira Tozawa here.

Akira Tozawa wins this match as the referee calls the wrestlers in and raises Akira Tozawa’s hand and declares him the winner.

Excellent match and with that, Akira Tozawa moves on to the quarter-finals of the Cruiserweight Classic as he will face Gran Metalik which should be an excellent match.

We then see a vignette of HoHo Lun and it’s a good vignette. HoHo Lun talks about how wrestling is his life and that he wants to make his family and friends be proud of him of where he is today. The vignette also shows highlights of his first round match against Ariya Daivari.

This is good as it shows character of HoHo Lun and it makes people want to support him because he made it this far and he loves wrestling. Even though I don’t think HoHo Lun will go far in this tournament, I hope he gets a contract with NXT. Good vignette here.

We then see a vignette of Noam Dar and it’s a good vignette. Noam Dar talks about how he’s the best in this tournament as well as talking about his in-ring style. The vignette also show highlights of his first round match against Gurv Sihra.

This is good as it shows who Noam Dar is as a character and how well he did in the first round of the Cruiserweight Classic. Whether Noam Dar wins this tournament or not, I hope he gets a contract with NXT. Good vignette here.

HoHo Lun Vs. Noam Dar was a good match. Before the match, both HoHo Lun and Noam Dar shook hands.

This was a good match as both men looked good here showcasing their skills in the ring.

HoHo Lun was good in this match as he got to showcase more of his wrestling style in the ring. His Michinoku Driver and Fisherman Suplex were well executed and he sold his leg pretty well throughout the match as Noam Dar was working on it. Good performance by HoHo Lun here.

Noam Dar was good in this match as well as he showed more of his British technical wrestling in this match. His in-ring psychology on HoHo Lun’s leg in order to apply the kneebar was good in-ring psychology there. Good performance by Noam Dar here.

Noam Dar wins this match here as the referee calls the wrestlers in and raises Noam Dar’s hand and declares him the winner.

Good match and with that, Noam Dar moves on to the quarter-finals of the Cruiserweight Classic.

We then see a vignette of Tony Nese and it’s a good vignette. Tony Nese talks about his hybrid style of wrestling and that he’s going to be the man in this tournament. The vignette also show highlights of his first round match against Anthony Bennett.

This is good as it shows who Tony Nese is as a wrestler and how well he did in the first round of the Cruiserweight Classic. Whether Tony Nese wins this tournament or not, I hope to see him get a NXT contract. Good vignette here.

We then see a vignette of Brian Kendrick and it’s a good vignette. Brian Kendrick talks about his wrestling experience as well as talking about how he needs to win this tournament to prove something, or else, it’s all for nothing. The vignette also show highlights of his first round match against Raul Mendoza.

This is good as it shows character of Brian Kendrick and it makes people want to support him because it feels like he’s going to retire in professional wrestling and if he doesn’t win this tournament, it would be over for him. Even though I don’t think Brian Kendrick will go far in this tournament, I expect him to get signed and he’ll probably be on Raw for the Cruiserweight division. Good vignette here.

Tony Nese Vs. Brian Kendrick was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Before the match, both Tony Nese and Brian Kendrick shook hands.

Both men were very even in this match as either man could have walked out as the victor.

Tony Nese was excellent here as he got to show off more of his hybrid style of wrestling in this match. His reverse somersault dive to the outside on Brian Kendrick, his sitout suplex slam, and his pumphandle powerslam were executed perfectly. Excellent performance by Tony Nese here.

Brian Kendrick was also excellent in this match as he got to show that he can still hang with the young talents in this match. Brian Kendrick’s resilience of kicking out of Tony Nese’s offense was impressive as I thought he was done at certain points. Also, I love how Brian Kendrick tried to make Tony Nese tap out at every point possible at any time which was cool to see. Excellent performance by Brian Kendrick here.

Brian Kendrick wins this match as the referee calls the wrestlers in and raises Brian Kendrick’s hand and declares him the winner. After the match, Brian Kendrick tried to show sportsmanship to Tony Nese, but Tony Nese already left the ring as Brian Kendrick started to celebrate. Just a nice little detail that people probably won’t noticed and it was nice to see something different at the end so that was nice, but nothing major here.

Excellent match and with that, Brian Kendrick moves on to the quarter-finals of the Cruiserweight Classic as he will face Kota Ibushi which should be an excellent match.

Overall, great show for the sixth show of the Cruiserweight Classic. Next week, we’ll see Lince Dorado Vs. Rich Swann, Zack Sabre Jr. Vs. Drew Gulak, and Johnny Gargano Vs. TJ Perkins which should be great. Looking forward to next week’s show, it should be awesome.
