NXT 8/24/16 Review: The Mighty Feel Pain

on

NXT on August 24, 2016 was a good show that followed up NXT Brooklyn II. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package showing highlights of NXT Brooklyn II. This is good as it shows what happened at NXT Brooklyn II in case people missed it or forgot about it. Well produced video package here.

Tye Dillinger Vs. Wesley Blake was a good match. It seems like Wesley Blake is keeping his new entrance and character at the moment. Apparently, his gimmick is now the Beautiful Blond Blake which is reminisce of Rick “The Model” Martel and I think it’s a good character for him if he’s going solo in NXT now. BAM!

Wesley Blake’s performance in this match was pretty good as he got to showcase his character with him blowing kisses at Tye Dillinger at certain points of the match which is nice to see there. He also put up a good fight against Tye Dillinger in this match. His double knee backbreaker to Tye Dillinger when he was on the ropes looked devastating. Nice performance by Wesley Blake here. BAM!

Tye Dillinger was also impressive in this match as well. Despite not being seen in NXT for a while, the man is still over and it’s great to see. It seems like NXT is finally turning Tye Dillinger face which is good because Tye Dillinger is so over at this point that you have to turn him face. Great decision by NXT here. Ten!

The ending of the match came when Tye Dillinger hit the Tyebreaker (Fireman’s carry onto a knee) on Wesley Blake for the pin and win. Tye Dillinger finally got a win after having another losing streak for the past few months! Mark out moment! It’s about time that Tye Dillinger is getting wins and he needs more of them. Hope this is the beginning of Tye Dillinger’s push in NXT. Ten!

Good match as I’m interested to see what NXT will do with Wesley Blake and NXT, please push Tye Dillinger!

We then get a recap of Andrade “Cien” Almas Vs. Bobby Roode at NXT Brooklyn II. This is good in case people missed or forgot about it as it was a great match. Plus, it also ties into the next segment on this show.

The backstage interview with Bobby Roode after his match against Andrade “Cien” Almas at NXT Brooklyn II was good. Bobby Roode talked about how his victory over Andrade “Cien” Almas is not a surprise as he is glorious. Bobby Roode then said that he’s a superstar who will take NXT to the next level and NXT Brooklyn II was the first step. He then said that he was going to Madison Avenue for a dinner date with Fortune 500 executives as he left.

Bobby Roode being glorious here in this promo. I expect him to be in the NXT Championship picture in the next few months or so and it’s going to be… glorious! Good backstage interview here.

Just a reminder that Serpents by Neckdeep was a theme for NXT Brooklyn II so if you haven’t listened to it yet, please do so because it’s a great song. Also, if you haven’t already, watch NXT Brooklyn II. Excellent show.

We then get a recap of No Way Jose Vs. Austin Aries at NXT Brooklyn II. This is good in case people missed or forgot about it as it was a good match. Plus, it also ties into the next segment on this show.

The backstage interview with Austin Aries after his match against No Way Jose was great. Austin Aries talked about how he’s pissed off on people making a statement on him especially with Hideo Itami. He then talked about how he defeated Baron Corbin and No Way Jose. He then said that if Hideo Itami’s injury layoff was long, wait until he gets in the ring with Hideo Itami as he left pissed off.

It seems like Austin Aries couldn’t handle the disrespect he has been getting in NXT as of late that he even took it out on the interviewer. However, I don’t blame him one bit because Austin Aries is a big deal and should be treated with more respect. His feud with Hideo Itami is going to be great. I’m looking forward to it. Great backstage interview here.

We then get a recap of Asuka Vs. Bayley for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Brooklyn II. This is good in case people missed or forgot about it as it was an excellent women’s match. Plus, it also ties into the next segment on this show.

The backstage segment with Bayley and Ember Moon after Bayley’s loss to Asuka at NXT Brooklyn II was good. Bayley talked about how she felt like she had a home court advantage being back in Brooklyn for the title match. She then said that she was prepared for Asuka as she knew how to avoid the Asuka Lock, but it didn’t ended the way she wanted to do.

Ember Moon then showed up and praised Bayley for her match against Asuka. Ember Moon then said she’s here in NXT because of Bayley and Bayley told her that she has a bright future in NXT and maybe one day, they’ll have a match against each other at a NXT live special.

Oh my god! A possible Bayley Vs. Ember Moon match at a NXT live special?! Oh my god yes! Now, I don’t know if it will happen after what happened to Bayley on Monday, but we’ll see as time goes on. Good backstage segment here.

We then get a recap on Bayley’s debut on Monday Night Raw as she signed with Raw on Monday. This is good in case people missed or didn’t watch Raw on Monday.

That being said, I will definitely miss Bayley in NXT as she has part of NXT for three years and everything she has done in NXT has been incredible. So, if NXT Brooklyn II was the last time we saw Bayley in NXT, then I just have to say, thank you Bayley. Thank you Bayley for everything you have done in NXT and I wished you the best of luck on Monday Night Raw. Thank you Bayley!

We then get the same vignette from NXT Brooklyn II with the word “sanity“. I still think the person may be Eric Young, but who knows at this point. Either way, I’m intrigued and I can’t wait to see who it is.

We then get a recap of The Revival Vs. DIY for the NXT Tag Team Championships at NXT Brooklyn II. This is good in case people missed or forgot about it as it was an excellent tag team match. Plus, it also ties into the next segment on this show.

The backstage interview with The Revival after their match against DIY was great. Dash Wilder said that time and time again, they are the best tag team on the planet and he said that no team is better than them as they’re unstoppable. Scott Dawson said they talk heavy and they hit hard. Scott Dawson also said that only they’re the best tag team in NXT, but the best tag team on the planet. He then called out The Usos, Guns and Gallows, Breezango, and any other tag teams because they want to beat them as they left.

I’m loving that The Revival are fighting champions and they are willing to face any tag team in front of them because they know they’re the best. It will be interesting to see who The Revival will face next for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Looking forward to it. Great backstage interview here.

We then get a recap of Samoa Joe Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the NXT Championship at NXT Brooklyn II. This is good in case people missed of forgot about it as it was an excellent match. YeaOh!

We then get an announcement that next week, Shinsuke Nakamura will speak. It will be interesting to see what Shinsuke Nakamura will say next week after winning the NXT Championship. Looking forward to it. YeaOh!

We then get an update on Samoa Joe as Samoa Joe got his jaw shattered by Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT Brooklyn II. Samoa Joe’s jaw has been dislocated, and relocated as he hopes to be cleared to wrestle very soon. So it was true that Samoa Joe got injured at NXT Brooklyn II. Hope he gets better soon because I would love to see Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Samoa Joe again in the future. Get better soon Samoa Joe!

Just a reminder that Relentless by Mice and Men was a theme for NXT Brooklyn II so if you haven’t listened to it yet, please do so because it’s a great song. Also, if you haven’t already, watch NXT Brooklyn II. Excellent show.

TM 61 Vs. Authors of Pain was a good tag team match. These two teams have some history together as of late as Authors of Pain were the ones who destroyed TM 61 a few weeks ago as they were trying to help Adrian Nailz and Rob Ryzin so this match makes sense.

However, I have something to critique towards TM 61 despite liking them. How dare you guys not have matching attires! How dare you! That aside, TM 61 did well here in this tag team match as they got to showcase their tag team chemistry in the ring. Their dives to the outside before the match started was cool to see. Good performance by TM 61 here.

Authors of Pain were good in this match as well as they also got to showcase their tag team chemistry in the ring. I like how Authors of Pain immediately attacked TM 61 before the bell rang because it shows that they don’t care about if this is a match or not, they just want to beat people up and they did just that. Also, apparently, Authors of Pain have names now with Akam and Rezer. Pretty cool names if I have to say so myself. Good performance by Authors of Pain here.

The ending of the match came when Authors of Pain hit the Russian legsweep/clothesline combination on Nick Miller for the pin and win. Despite losing, TM 61 looked good in defeat here and I expect them to be contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championships in the near future. Authors of Pain have been on a roll as of late and it’s only a matter of time before they become contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Either way, the tag team division in NXT looks to be interesting and I’m looking forward to see where it goes from here.

Good tag team as I’m looking forward to see what’s next for TM 61 and Authors of Pain in NXT.

Overall, good show that followed up NXT Brooklyn II pretty well. Next week, we’re going to have Shinsuke Nakamura speak as the NXT Champion which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
