The Cruiserweight Classic on August 24, 2016 was an excellent show. CWC will showcase 32 cruiserweight wrestlers from around the world compete in a single elimination tournament in order to become the best cruiserweight wrestler in the world. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package showing the Cruiserweight Classic trophy, highlights of Akira Tozawa Vs. Jack Gallagher, Noam Dar Vs. HoHo Lun, Brian Kendrick Vs. Tony Nese, and showing the matches for this show with Drew Gulak Vs. Zack Sabre Jr., Lince Dorado Vs. Rich Swann, and TJ Perkins Vs. Johnny Gargano in the Cruiserweight Classic. This is good as it shows what happened with the matches last week in case people missed or forgot about it and it helps hype up the matches on the show. Also, that is a nice looking trophy right there and whoever wins that, is that the best cruiserweight wrestler in the world. Well produced video package here.

We then see a vignette of Lince Dorado and it’s a good vignette. Lince Dorado talks about how he was expected to be here because he wanted to be here for his whole life and how he’s going to inspire people that anyone can be in the wrestling business if they put the work into it. The vignette also show highlights of his first round match against Mustafa Ali.

This is good as it shows who Lince Dorado is as a character and his motivations within the Cruiserweight Classic. Whether Lince Dorado wins this tournament or not, I hope to see him get a NXT contract. Good vignette here.

We then see a vignette of Rich Swann and it’s a good vignette. Rich Swann talks about how wrestling saved and changed his life as well as talking about how he is himself when he’s in the ring. The vignette also show highlights of his first round match against Jason Lee.

This is good as it shows who Rich Swann is as a character and makes you want to support him because of all of the things that happened to him during his personal life. Whether Rich Swann wins this tournament or not, I expect him to get a push in NXT once the tournament is over. Good vignette here.

Lince Dorado Vs. Rich Swann was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Before the match, both Lince Dorado and Rich Swann shook hands.

Both men were very even in this match as either man could have gone on to the quarter-finals of the Cruiserweight Classic and it would be believable.

Lince Dorado was excellent here as he got to show off more of his lucha libre style in this match. His springboard crossbody to Rich Swann on the outside and his reverse hurricanrana were beautiful. Also, he managed to show a bit of charisma in this match with the dancing which was nice to see. Excellent performance by Lince Dorado here.

Rich Swann was also excellent in this match as he got to show his high-flying in this match. His standing 450 splash and his corkscrew 450 splash looked amazing. Excellent performance by Rich Swann here.

Rich Swann wins this match as the referee calls the wrestlers in and raises Rich Swann’s hand and declares him the winner.

Excellent match and with that, Rich Swann moves on to the quarter-finals of the Cruiserweight Classic.

We then get a recap on The Revival Vs. DIY at NXT Brooklyn II. This is good in case people forgot about it or missed it. Plus, it also ties into the next segment.

The backstage interview with Johnny Gargano by Andrea D’Marco was good. Johnny Gargano talked about how great TJ Perkins is, but despite that, he’s going to give everything he has to TJ Perkins so he can win the Cruiserweight Classic.

I like how that despite being injured, Johnny Gargano is going to bring everything he has towards TJ Perkins so he can move on to the quarter-finals of the Cruiserweight Classic. That should be an excellent match. Good backstage interview here.

We then see a vignette of Drew Gulak and it’s a good vignette. Drew Gulak talks about his in-ring style as well as saying that he’s confident that he will the Cruiserweight Classic. The vignette also show highlights of his first round match against Harv Sihra.

This is good as it shows who Drew Gulak is as a wrestler and how well he did in the first round of the Cruiserweight Classic. Even though I don’t think Drew Gulak will win this tournament, I hope he gets a contract with NXT. Good vignette here.

We then see a vignette of Zack Sabre Jr. and it’s a good vignette. Zack Sabre Jr. talks about his in-ring style as well as trying to show the world that he is the best technical wrestler in the world today. The vignette also show highlights of his first round match against Tyson Dux.

This is good as it shows who Zack Sabre Jr. is as a wrestler and how well he did in the first round of the Cruiserweight Classic. I think Zack Sabre Jr. is going to go very far in this tournament and possibly even winning the tournament. Good vignette here.

Drew Gulak Vs. Zack Sabre Jr. was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Before the match, Zack Sabre Jr. extended his hand towards Drew Gulak, but Drew Gulak ended up slapping Zack Sabre Jr.’s hand instead of shaking it. Nice to see something different with the hand shakes and it showed some character from Drew Gulak so that was nice to see.

This was an excellent technical wrestling match where I thought these men were trying to tear each other apart.

Drew Gulak was excellent in this match as he got to showcase more of his catch wrestling in the ring. The way he tried to have Zack Sabre Jr. in every submission is excellent technical wrestling right there and the way he went after Zack Sabre Jr.’s leg was excellent in-ring psychology. Excellent performance by Drew Gulak here.

Zack Sabre Jr. was excellent in this match as well as he showed more of his British technical wrestling in this match. The way that Zack Sabre Jr. tried to have Drew Gulak in every submission is excellent technical wrestling there and the way he work on every body part on Drew Gulak in order to apply a submission on him for more pressure was excellent in-ring psychology. Excellent performance by Zack Sabre Jr. here.

Zack Sabre Jr. wins this match here as the referee calls the wrestlers in and raises Zack Sabre Jr.’s hand and declares him the winner. After the match, Zack Sabre Jr. extended his hand towards Drew Gulak again, but this time, Drew Gulak ended up shaking his hand for a second before leaving the ring. Nice show of sportsmanship at the end there between these two after what happened before the match so that was nice to see.

Excellent match and with that, Zack Sabre Jr. moves on to the quarter-finals of the Cruiserweight Classic as he will face Noam Dar which should be an excellent match.

We then see a vignette of TJ Perkins and it’s a good vignette. TJ Perkins talks about how he could be an influence to the Filipino people as they have no one to look up to as well as talking about his in-ring style. The vignette also show highlights of his first round match against Da Mack.

This is good as it shows who TJ Perkins is as a wrestler and you want to support him because he wants to be an influence to his people. Whether TJ Perkins wins this tournament or not, I hope to see him get a NXT contract. Good vignette here.

We then see a vignette of Johnny Gargano and it’s a good vignette. Johnny Gargano talks about how he has to fight family in order to move on in the Cruiserweight Classic as well as talking about how he wants to be known as the best cruiserweight wrestler in the world. The vignette also show highlights of his first round match against Tommaso Ciampa.

This is good as it shows character of Johnny Gargano and how well he did in the first round of the Cruiserweight Classic. Whether Johnny Gargano wins this tournament or not, I expect him to have great success in NXT. Good vignette here.

TJ Perkins Vs. Johnny Gargano was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Before the match, both TJ Perkins and Johnny Gargano shook hands.

Both men were very even in this match as either man could have walked out as the victor.

TJ Perkins was excellent here as he got to show off more of his wrestling skills and charisma in this match. The way that TJ Perkins work on the leg of Johnny Gargano was excellent in-ring psychology right there and he managed to show some charisma while doing it. Excellent performance by TJ Perkins here.

Johnny Gargano was also excellent in this match as he got to show his resilience in this match. His cannonball senton to TJ Perkins on the outside looked painful as he hit the ringbell table hard. Despite the injury, Johnny Gargano gave everything he had in this match showing heart and passion. Excellent performance by Johnny Gargano here.

TJ Perkins wins this match as the referee calls the wrestlers in and raises TJ Perkins’s hand and declares him the winner. After the match, TJ Perkins helped Johnny Gargano get up on his feet and they hugged each other for a little bit for a sign of respect for one another. That was a nice thing to see after an excellent match between the two. Nice show sportsmanship there.

Excellent match and with that, TJ Perkins moves on to the quarter-finals of the Cruiserweight Classic as he will face Rich Swann which should be an excellent match.

Overall, excellent show for the seventh show of the Cruiserweight Classic. Next week, we’ll see the quarter-finals of the Cruiserweight Classic which should be great. Looking forward to next week’s show, it should be awesome.
