NXT on September 7, 2016 was a good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with TM 61 Vs. Tony Nese & Ariya Daivari and it was a good tag team match. Oh my god! Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari have made appearances on NXT! Mark out moment for both! Both men were very impressive in the CWC and I would love to see them get signed by NXT in the near future.

Tony Nese was impressive as he got to showcase his hybrid wrestling here. His reverse somersault dive to the outside was beautiful. Ariya Daivari was impressive here as well as he got to show some character in this match by trying to cheat to win being a heel in this match which is nice to see. TM 61 were impressive here as well as that somersault dive from Shane Thorne was impressive and the tag team chemistry of TM 61 is top notch. Good performances from everyone in this match.

The ending of the match came when TM 61 hit Thunder Valley on Ariya Daivari for the pin and win. With this win, I’m pretty sure that TM 61 are looking to become the next #1 Contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championships when the time comes because they are The Mighty… and The Mighty Don’t Kneel!

Good tag team match here and I can’t wait to see what’s next for TM 61 in NXT. Also, NXT, please sign Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari!

The sitdown interview with Asuka by Tom Phillips was good. Tom Phillips asks Asuka about her match with Bayley at NXT Takeover Brooklyn II and Asuka said that the crowd great. Asuka then said that Bayley was the heart of NXT and she fought hard, but she fought harder and that’s why she became victorious. Tom Phillips then says that Asuka had debuted in NXT last fall and she has beaten every women’s wrestler that was in NXT and are now on the main roster. Asuka responds by saying that those women are safe now because they don’t have to face her anymore.

Tom Phillips then asks Asuka how important it is to represent Japan in the USA and Asuka responds by saying that the NXT Women’s Championship is for herself and her fans in Japan. Tom Phillips then asks Asuka if there’s anyone in NXT that is ready to face her and Asuka says that no one is ready for her.

This was a nice way to know more about Asuka for those who don’t know about her. It seems like Asuka is very confident that no one in NXT currently can beat hear and I have to agree as of right now. However, with the new women in NXT trying to build themselves up, it’s only a matter of time when they have a chance to beat Asuka. Until then, Asuka will remain on top. Will be interesting to see who will take down Asuka in NXT. Good sitdown interview here.

We then get an advertisement for Connor’s Cure which is nice to see as we don’t want more children getting cancer or anything, so please support them at www.ConnorTheCrusher.org.

The backstage interview with Steve Cutler by Dasha Fuentes was good. Steve Cutler says that there’s no sacrifice made by Shinsuke Nakamura as he gave up four years of his life to work for this opportunity. He then said that he doesn’t care what people think about him, but he will be respected.

This was a nice way to see more of Steve Cutler of who he is as a character as well as showing more of his mic skills. He seems like a guy that could have a lot of potential and what I have seen from him so far, he is quite impressive. Hope he can continue to improve as time goes along and let’s see how well he can hang with Shinsuke Nakamura later on the show. Good backstage interview here.

Ember Moon Vs. Leah Von was a good women’s match. Oh my god! Leah Von just made an appearance on NXT! Mark out moment! For those of you who don’t know who Leah Von is, she is known as Leah Von Dutch for her work in SHINE and she’s a good women’s wrestler that could get better in the future. NXT, please sign her!

In all seriousness though, Leah Von did pretty well here as she got some offense on Ember Moon in this match. Ember Moon was impressive as well as she continues to show her skills in the ring. Good performances by both women here.

The ending of the match came when Ember Moon hit a diving stunner on Leah Von for the pin and win. I like the fact that Ember Moon is getting more over with the crowd which is nice to see. I expect her to be the next #1 Contender to the NXT Women’s Championship. Will she able to beat Asuka? Only time will tell. Burn!

Good women’s match and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next for Ember Moon in NXT. Also, NXT, please sign Leah Von!

The backstage interview with No Way Jose by Charly Caruso was good. No Way Jose talks about how Bobby Roode has good clothing and shoes, but he thinks they’re unoriginal as No Way Jose heard it before. He then said that despite wearing all white after Labor Day, Bobby Roode will learn not to mess with No way Jose.

It seems like we may get a feud between No Way Jose and Bobby Roode in the near future which is fine by me as it could help both men. Looking forward to the match and feud when it happens. Good backstage interview here.

We then get a vignette of The Revival and their quest of becoming the best tag team in NXT. This was good as it shows who The Revival are and what their motives are in NXT. It will be interesting to see who will feud with The Revival next for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Say Yeah! Yeah!

The backstage segment between DIY was good. A doctor was helping out Tommaso Ciampa to see if his ribs were okay after the attack from The Revival last week. Johnny Gargano then came up to him and the doctor and asked him if his ribs were okay and Tommaso Ciampa said he’ll go through it. Tommaso Ciampa then asked Johnny Gargano if his leg was okay and Johnny Gargano said he was fine.

Johnny Gargano then told Tommaso Ciampa that if he could recover next week, they will get a tag team match at the Cruiserweight Classic live special. Johnny Gargano then asked the doctor if he’s clear to wrestle next week and the doctor said if Tommaso Ciampa rest up, he can compete next week. DIY then talked about The Revival as they will get revenge on them on what they did to them, but right now, they’re going to focus on the tag team match next week on the live Cruiserweight Classic special.

So it seems like this is a good way to promote and advertise the live Cruiserweight Classic special next week which should be great. It seems like the feud between The Revival and DIY is far from over and I expect them to get their revenge on The Revival pretty soon. Looking forward to it when the time comes. Good backstage segment here.

Andrade “Cien” Almas Vs. Austin Aries was a great match. After the confrontation that these two men have last week at a backstage segment, this match made a lot of sense.

Andrade “Cien” Almas was great in this match as he got to show more of his in-ring ability and his charisma in the ring. His corkscrew plancha and his feint moonsault into a standing moonsault were beautiful. Austin Aries was great in this match as well as he made his opponent looked great as well as making himself look great in the process as he’s “The Greatest Man That Ever Lived”. Great performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Andrade “Cien” Almas was about to hit a springboard hurricanrana on Austin Aries, but Austin Aries countered it with a powerbomb followed by the Last Chancery as Andrade “Cien” Almas submitted to get Austin Aries the win. Despite losing, Andrade “Cien” Almas looked great in defeat here so this loss doesn’t hurt him that much. As for Austin Aries, it seems like his eyes are set on Hideo Itami and when those two fight it out, it will be excellent. Looking forward to that when the time comes.

Great match as I’m interested to see what Andrade “Cien” Almas will do next in NXT as well as looking forward to the feud between Hideo Itami and Austin Aries.

We then get the same vignette with the word “sanity“. Who’s going to debut? When are they doing to debut? My guess is Eric Young and I have a feeling this debut won’t happen until the NXT live special in Canada, but we’ll see. Either way, I’m interested to see who it is.

We then get an announcement that next week, it will be No Way Jose Vs. Bobby Roode. That should be an interesting match and it’s a good opportunity to showcase what No Way Jose can do with another veteran like Bobby Roode. Looking forward to their match next week.

Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Steve Cutler was a good squash match. Samoa Joe was on commentary in this show and I thought he did pretty good job of talking about his injury and his issues with Shinsuke Nakamura which continues the feud between the two of them until Samoa Joe recovers. Get well soon Samoa Joe!

The match itself was a way to make Shinsuke Nakamura look strong as NXT Champion. Steve Cutler did well here trying to hang with Shinsuke Nakamura and despite not getting much offense in this match, he did well for himself here against Shinsuke Nakamura so hands off to him. As for Shinsuke Nakamura, he was his usual self here being charismatic as well as showing his in-ring style in the ring. YeaOh!

The ending of the match came when Shinsuke Nakamura hit a Kinshasa on Steve Cutler for the pin and win. A nice win for Shinsuke Nakamura in his first match as NXT Champion. Would love to see Steve Cutler in a feud to build himself up as I said before, he has potential so I hope to see more of him in the future.

After the match, Shinsuke Nakamura celebrated with the crowd with the NXT Championship as Samoa Joe got up from the commentary table as he stared down Shinsuke Nakamura before walking away.

It seems like we’ll be getting Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Samoa Joe for the NXT Championship until Samoa Joe heals which should be excellent as I thought their match at NXT Brooklyn II was excellent. Nice way to build that feud up until Samoa Joe recovers and I’m looking forward to the rematch between the two when the time comes. YeaOh!

Good squash match and good post-match as I’m looking forward to Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Samoa Joe for the NXT Championship in the near future.

Overall, good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Next week, we’re going to have No Way Jose Vs. Bobby Roode which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
