The Cruiserweight Classic Live Finale on September 14, 2016 was an excellent show. CWC will showcase 32 cruiserweight wrestlers from around the world compete in a single elimination tournament in order to become the best cruiserweight wrestler in the world. Man…, it has ended. *Sniff* However, I’ll get to that later. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package showing highlights of the Cruiserweight Classic and the final four competitors in the Cruiserweight Classic. This is good as it shows what happened throughout the entire Cruiserweight Classic which has been great to excellent. Well produced video package here.

We then see Mauro Ranallo and Daniel Bryan as they talk about the matches and moments that happened in the Cruiserweight Classic as well as hyping up the semi-final matches later on the show. This is good as it shows how big this show is and how important it is to win this tournament. I can’t wait to watch those matches, it should be excellent.

We then get another video package highlighting TJ Perkins, Zack Sabre Jr., Gran Metalik, and Kota Ibushi as they talk about the Cruiserweight Classic and how they want to win the tournament. This is good as it shows the motivation that the four competitors have in the tournament and the matches they will have will be tremendous. Looking forward to it. Well produced video package here.

Gran Metalik Vs. Zack Sabre Jr. was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Before the match, both Gran Metalik and Zack Sabre Jr. shook hands.

Wow, just wow. Both men went out there and delivered an excellent match where either man could have gone to the finals and it would be believable.

Gran Metalik was excellent in this match as he got to be himself showing his lucha libre style. I like how he started the match very quick with the dropkick followed by the somersault dive which was nice to see. His slingshot senton and his diving hurricanrana when Zack Sabre Jr. was stuck on the ropes were executed beautifully. Zack Sabre Jr. was also excellent in this match as he was being himself showcasing his British technical wrestling. I like how in every opportunity, Zack Sabre Jr. tried to make Gran Metalik tap out in every point of the match especially when he caught Gran Metalik mid-air and locked him in the triangle choke which was awesome to see. Also, his soccer kick to Gran Metalik looked painful as well. Excellent performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Gran Metalik hit the Metalik Driver (Samoan Driver) on Zack Sabre Jr. for the pin and win. The referee then calls the wrestlers in and raises Gran Metalik’s hand and declares him the winner. Wow, just wow, amazing. Even though Zack Sabre Jr. lost here, he looked excellent in defeat so he had nothing to be ashamed of here. Thank you Zack Sabre Jr. and I hope to see you in NXT in the future!

After the match, William Regal handed Gran Metalik a CWC medal which is nice to see and it’s great to see William Regal there on the show. Charly Caruso and Andrea D’Marco then came into the ring and interview Gran Metalik. Charly Caruso asked Gran Metalik on how he feels to move on to the finals of the Cruiserweight Classic as Andrea D’Marco was translating for him and Gran Metalik responded with thank you. Charly Caruso then asked Gran Metalik on how he feels on not knowing who his opponent will be in the finals as Andrea D’Marco and Gran Metalik responded in Spanish.

Even though I don’t really understand what Gran Metalik was saying there, it seems like to me that no matter who he faces in the finals of the Cruiserweight Classic, he’s going to win the Cruiserweight Classic which is good enough for me. Congratulations to Gran Metalik as he moves on to the finals of the Cruiserweight Classic!

Excellent match and with that, Gran Metalik moves on to the finals of the Cruiserweight Classic as whoever he faces in the finals, it should be excellent.

We then see Kota Ibushi and TJ Perkins warming up backstage earlier in the night as they get ready for their match later on the show. This is good as it shows that they’re there and they’re ready to compete. Should be an excellent match. Looking forward to it.

We then see a video package hyping up the Cruiserweight division as it will be exclusive on Monday Night Raw. A great way to advertise the division and I can’t wait to see it. It should be great.

The backstage interview with DIY by Dasha Fuentes was good. Dasha Fuentes asked DIY if they’re okay to compete and Johnny Gargano said that he and Tommaso Ciampa are perfectly and ready to go. Tommaso Ciampa said that their focus right now is on Noam Dar and Cedric Alexander, but after that, they want The Revival which led to DIY talking about The Revival as they’re looking to become NXT Tag Team Champions.

It seems like the feud between The Revival and DIY is far from over and I can’t wait to see those two teams face each other again. Should be excellent. Till then, they have a tag team match against Noam Dar and Cedric Alexander! Will talk about that later. Good backstage interview here.

Kota Ibushi Vs. TJ Perkins was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Before the match, both Kota Ibushi and TJ Perkins shook hands.

Wow, just wow. Both of these men went out there and they gave everything they have in this match and it was incredible. If either man could have won this match and I would believe it because both of these men went out there and tried to tear the house down.

This match was very back and forth and there were certain points in the match that I thought it was over. The reversal of Kota Ibushi’s elevated sitout powerbomb into a spike DDT followed by the reverse double underhook chickenwing into a double knee gutbuster by TJ Perkins was beautiful and I thought it was over. The elevated sitout powerbomb on TJ Perkins by Kota Ibushi and TJ Perkins managed to kick out of it, wow. The emotion on Kota Ibushi’s face was priceless and I don’t blame him as I thought the match was over as well at that point. Just remarkable.

The ending of the match came when TJ Perkins reversed Kota Ibushi’s elevated sitout powerbomb into the kneebar and then applied the facelock on Kota Ibushi to make Kota Ibushi tap out for the win. The referee then calls the wrestlers in and raises TJ Perkins’ hand and declares him the winner. Wow, I did not expect Kota Ibushi to tap out to TJ Perkins at all. Incredible. Even though Kota Ibushi lost, he looked excellent in defeat and major props to him for making TJ Perkins looked excellent here. Hope to see him in NXT again down the road!

After the match, both Kota Ibushi and TJ Perkins shook hands and hugged each other in signs of sportsmanship which was nice to see after an excellent match between the two. William Regal then handed TJ Perkins a CWC medal as Charly Caruso got in the ring to interview TJ Perkins. Charly Caruso asked TJ Perkins on his strategy facing Gran Metalik in the finals of the Cruiserweight Classic and TJ Perkins responded by saying that he needs to win one more match in order to win the Cruiserweight Classic. Charly Caruso then asked TJ Perkins on his mindset at the moment as TJ Perkins responded by saying that he needs to focus in order to win the Cruiserweight Classic.

TJ Perkins looked like he’s ready to face Gran Metalik in the finals later on the show which should be an excellent match. Looking forward to it. Congratulations to TJ Perkins as he moves on the finals of the Cruiserweight Classic.

Excellent match and with that, TJ Perkins moves on to the finals of the Cruiserweight Classic as he will face Gran Metalik which should be an excellent match.

The backstage interview with Noam Dar and Cedric Alexander by Dasha Fuentes was good. Dasha Fuentes asked Noam Dar and Cedric Alexander on what’s their game-plan heading into their tag team match against DIY as Noam Dar responded by saying that they have no game-plan because the only thing they need is a three count to get the victory. Cedric Alexander then said that they’re going to beat DIY and they’re going to prove it.

Noam Dar and Cedric Alexander have returned to the CWC! Mark out moment for both! Great to see these two again here and their tag team match against DIY should be great as they look ready. Looking forward to it. Good backstage interview here.

We then see Sasha Banks, Kalisto, Rich Swann, Jack Gallagher, and Bayley from the crowd! Mark out moment for all of them! Great to see them on the show which shows how big and important this show is. Looking forward to the rest of the show. Let’s go!

Noam Dar & Cedric Alexander Vs. DIY was an excellent tag team match. Mark out moment! Before the match, both Noam Dar & Cedric Alexander and DIY shook hands.

This was an excellent tag team match where both teams look excellent without the other team looking weak in the process.

Noam Dar & Cedric Alexander were excellent here despite not being a real tag team. The chemistry between these two was top notch as they took DIY to the limit especially Cedric Alexander as he was impressive in this match. That running dropkick onto Tommaso Ciampa when his head was stuck between his legs on the middle rope, his brainbuster, and spinning back heel kick looked well executed here. DIY were excellent here too as they still have what it takes in the tag team division. Excellent performances from both tag teams here.

The ending of the match came when DIY hit the superkick/running knee to the back of the head on Noam Dar for the pin and win. Despite Noam Dar & Cedric Alexander losing here, they looked excellent in defeat and I can’t wait to see them in NXT and in the Cruiserweight division of Monday Night Raw.

Excellent tag team match and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for DIY, Noam Dar, and Cedric Alexander on NXT and on Raw.

We then see an interview with William Regal by Mauro Ranallo and Daniel Bryan and it was great. Mauro Ranallo asked William Regal on what was the process of making the Cruiserweight Classic as William Regal responded by saying that they have to do a lot of scouting in order to put up this tournament and he’s very proud of the result. Daniel Bryan asked William Regal on his training with Cruiserweight wrestlers as William Regal responded by saying that he was trained by some of the best cruiserweight wrestlers of all time and that he wished he could wrestle like them. Mauro Ranallo then asked William Regal on what’s the definition of a cruiserweight as William Regal responded by saying that a cruiserweight is an overall wrestler that has all the tools.

I just have to say, thank you William Regal for helping out to make the Cruiserweight Classic! Hope to see this again next year and it’s great to see that William Regal was a big part of setting up this tournament. Great interview here.

We then see an interview with Corey Graves by Mauro Ranallo and Daniel Bryan and it was good. Mauro Ranallo asked Corey Graves on what he thought of the Cruiserweight Classic and Corey Graves responded by saying that it exceeded his expectations and it will be something that will not be forgotten. Daniel Bryan then asked Corey Graves on what was his favorite moment in the Cruiserweight Classic and Corey Graves responded by saying that Brian Kendrick was his favorite one, but he had other great moments as well.

Great to see Corey Graves here on the show and I can’t wait to hear his commentary on the Cruiserweights on Monday Night Raw. Good interview here.

We then see highlights of the semi-final matches earlier in the show. This was good in case people missed the semi-final matches earlier in the show so this was good to see. Can’t wait for the finals match and speaking of the finals match, let’s talk about it right now!

TJ Perkins Vs. Gran Metalik was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Before the match, both TJ Perkins and Gran Metalik shook hands.

As the match was about to start, Triple H came out and entered the ring as he said that this show will make history. The winner of this match will not only win the Cruiserweight Classic, but will also become the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion as he held the WWE Cruiserweight Championship up high in the air! Mark out moment! This match just became a lot more important now with the addition of the Cruiserweight Championship on the line. Also, love the new design of the belt, it looks great. Anyway, let’s talk about the match!

Like I said before, this was an excellent match where either man could have won and it would have been believable. These two men went out there and gave everything they have in order to win and it was fantastic.

Gran Metalik was excellent here as he brought everything in this match. His running hurricanrana onto TJ Perkins from the ring to the outside when TJ Perkins was on the ring apron was incredible. TJ Perkins was also excellent in this match as he brought everything in this match as well. His diving hurricanrana to Gran Metalik when Gran Metalik was on the ring apron to the floor was amazing as well. Excellent performances by both men here.

There were certain points in the match where I thought it was over, but it still kept going. When TJ Perkins was trying to apply the kneebar onto Gran Metalik, Gran Metalik reveresed it into a roll up and TJ Perkins kicked out. I thought it was over there. Another point in the match where I thought it was over was when Gran Metalik hit the Metalik Driver on TJ Perkins, but his knee gave in after what TJ Perkins did to him throughout the match and TJ Perkins still managed to kick out. If Gran Metalik just got the pin a few seconds earlier, he would have won, but the match still continued. Incredible.

The ending of the match came when Gran Metalik was about to hit TJ Perkins with the Avalanche Metalik Driver (Avalanche Samoan Driver), but TJ Perkins reversed it into a kneebar as he locked in the other leg to make Gran Metalik tap out to get the win and become the first ever Cruiserweight Classic winner and the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion! Mark out moment for both of those moments! The referee than calls the wrestlers in and raises TJ Perkins’ hand and declares him the winner. Wow, just wow. Even though Gran Metalik lost here, he has nothing to be ashamed of as he brought everything to this match, but TJ Perkins was just the better man. Can’t wait to see Gran Metalik on NXT and Raw!

After the match, Triple H and William Regal came in as Triple H wrapped around the WWE Cruiserweight Championship on TJ Perkins’ waist. TJ Perkins and Gran Metalik then shook hands and hugged each other in signs of sportmanship which was nice to see after an excellent match between the two men. Triple H and William Regal then shook hands with TJ Perkins and Gran Metalik showing their appreciation on what they did. Nice to see Triple H and William Regal doing stuff like this for them which is nice to see. Much respect for Triple H and William Regal here.

Charly Caruso then came into the ring to interview TJ Perkins. Charly Caruso asked TJ Perkins on how he’s feeling after winning the Cruiserweight Classic and TJ Perkins responded by saying he was living in the streets before all of this happened to him and now, he doesn’t need to go back to the streets anymore because he finally did it. TJ Perkins then said that the Cruiserweight Classic trophy isn’t just one man, but everyone within the tournament because now, he has more influences and heroes to look up to and he’s going to do whatever it takes to show that no matter who you are and what you might go through, you can achieve your dreams and goals and that’s what he did.

The emotion on TJ Perkins’ face when he was trying to speak was very nice to see. Very happy for TJ Perkins as he worked hard to get this point and he deserved it. Very proud of him and I wish him the best of success in NXT and Raw moving forward. Congratulations to TJ Perkins for winning the Cruiserweight Classic and becoming the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion!

Overall, excellent show for the final show of the Cruiserweight Classic. Well, it was fun while it lasted. *Sniff* Hope to see this show again next year because this was a lot of fun. If you want to see more of this type of action, then watch Raw for the Cruiserweight division and NXT as some of the CWC guys will be on there as well. If you haven’t already, please watch the CWC from beginning to end including this show, you won’t be disappointed. If this comes again next year, I will once again review the shows so hope to see you all then. CWC! CWC! CWC!
