NXT 10/5/16 Review: Tranquilo!

on

NXT on October 5, 2016 was a good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package hyping up the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. This is good as it’s hyping up the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic which should be great this year. Looking forward to it. Well produced video package here.

Bollywood Boyz Vs. Authors of Pain in the first round match of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic was a good tag team squash match. Oh my god! Bollywood Boyz made an appearance on NXT! Mark out moment for both!

While Bollywood Boyz were making their entrance, we see a video promo from them saying that they’re here to make a statement and they’re going to bring it in NXT. Great to see them both on NXT even if it’s for one night and I’m glad to see them in a big spot in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Hope they get signed in the near future.

Even though it’s great to see Bollywood Boyz in NXT, they couldn’t do much as they got decimated by Authors of Pain here where Authors of Pain hit the Russian legsweep/clothesline combination on Gurv Sihra for the pin and win. A shame that Bollywood Boyz lost here, but at the same time, they were no match for Authors of Pain as they have been dominant as of late. I expect them to go very far in this tournament. Pain!

Good tag team squash match and I hope to see Bollywood Boyz get signed in NXT as well as seeing who will face Authors of Pain in the quarter-finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

We then see a vignette of Dan Matha who will make his debut on NXT later on the show. Looking forward to his debut. Let’s see what he can do.

Rich Swann Vs. Patrick Clark was a good match. Rich Swann has made his return to NXT! Mark out moment! Great to see Rich Swann back in NXT again after his performance from the CWC. Can you handle it?!

Rich Swann did well in this match showing his charisma and in-ring ability. However, I was very intrigued by Patrick Clark here as he debuted a new gimmick which was interesting to say the least. Despite that, he got to show some character and charisma in this match. His spinebuster to Rich Swann looked devastating. Good performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Rich Swann hit the cartwheel standing moonsault on Patrick Clark for the pin and win. Like how Rich Swann keeps changing up the finishers every time he wins a match. Also, the crowd love Rich Swann which is awesome to see because Rich Swann is awesome. I also want to see more of Patrick Clark as he has a lot of potential in my opinion. Interested to see what’s next for Rich Swann and Patrick Clark in NXT. Can you handle it?!

Good match and I’m interested to see what’s next for Rich Swann and Patrick Clark in NXT.

We then get a recap of what happened two weeks ago with Cedric Alexander and Andrade “Cien” Almas as they fought each other in a match and showing respect for each other after the match. This is good as it showed what happened two weeks ago in case people missed it or forgot about it. Plus, it ties in what’s going to happen later on the show as Cedric Alexander will team up with Andrade “Cien” Almas to take on The Revival in the first round of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Should be a good tag team match. Looking forward to it.

We then get a recap of what happened last week with Asuka and Liv Morgan where Asuka squashed Liv Morgan. This is good as it showed what happened last week in case people missed it or forgot about it. Plus, it ties in with the next segment which I’ll talk about next.

The backstage segment between Liv Morgan, Billie Kay, and Peyton Royce last week was good. Liv Morgan was being tended by one of the trainers as Billie Kay and Peyton Royce came along as they made fun of Liv Morgan’s loss as they leave with Liv Morgan being pissed.

It seems like we’ll be getting a feud between Liv Morgan, Billie Kay, and Peyton Royce down the road which is fine by me as the more feuds in NXT, the better. Looking forward to that feud when the time comes. Good backstage segment here.

Danielle Kamela Vs. Peyton Royce was a good women’s match. Peyton Royce has made her return to NXT! Mark out moment! Great to see Peyton Royce back on NXT after being gone for a few months.

Peyton Royce did well in this match as she got to showcase her wrestling skills in the ring. Her spinning heel kick looked devastating. Danielle Kamela did well in this match too as this was her first match on NXT TV and I think she did pretty well for herself. Her cartwheel back elbow onto Peyton Royce in the corner was well executed. Good performances by women here.

The ending of the match came when Peyton Royce hit a bridging fisherman suplex on Danielle Kamela for the pin and win. Nice finisher from Peyton Royce there. Glad to see she’s getting a push along with Billie Kay as I expect them to be a great duo in the NXT women’s division. Venus Fly Trap!

Good women’s match and I’m interested to see what’s next for Peyton Royce and Billie Kay in NXT.

The backstage interview from Bobby Roode and Tye Dillinger by Charly Caruso was great. Bobby Roode said it was going to be a big week for them as Tye Dillinger will take his next big step in his career teaming up with him. Tye Dillinger then said that the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic meant a lot to him so he’s happy to be in the tournament. Bobby Roode then made everyone pause as he did his glorious pose while Tye Dillinger looked confused as both of them left.

The part where Bobby Roode just posed was hilarious as well as Tye Dillinger’s reaction to it. I don’t know how well the tag team of Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode will work out, but it will be interesting to see how it will work out in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. It will be a perfect ten and it will be glorious! Great backstage interview here.

NXT is coming to Japan for the first time ever in December so get your tickets now before it’s too late and see NXT live!

Dan Matha made his NXT debut! Mark out moment! I have to say, the man looks like a beast, but it will be interesting to see on what he can do in the ring.

However, we couldn’t see that on this show as Samoa Joe appeared and made his way to the ring after Dan Matha made his entrance to the ring as he took out Dan Matha.

After he took out Dan Matha, he got on the mic and said that who’s next for him as he will destroy everyone in the NXT locker room until William Regal gives Shinsuke Nakamura and the NXT Championship as he left.

Man, Samoa Joe is taking out everyone and it’s only a matter of time before it gets much worse. I’m really liking where the feud between Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe is going and I can’t wait to see them face off when the time comes. Should be excellent. Joe’s gonna kill you!

Good segment and I can’t wait what’s next for the Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe feud in NXT as well as seeing what Dan Matha is capable of down the road.

The backstage interview with No Way Jose and Rich Swann by Dasha Fuentes was good. No Way Jose said that he teamed up with Rich Swann because they listened to the NXT Universe and they have the agility and the ability to succeed.

Rich Swann said that No Way Jose may look like he’s having fun outside of the ring, but when he’s in the ring, he means business. Both No Way Jose and Rich Swann then said their catchphrases as they left.

I’m already loving the dynamic and the chemistry that No Way Jose and Rich Swann have. I have a feeling that they’re going to be a great tag team in NXT if they stayed together. I mean, can you handle this? No Way Jose! Good backstage interview here.

We then get the same vignette of the word “SAnitY“, but this time, “SAnitY” will debut next week. It’s about time that SAnitY will be revealed, but who or what is SAnitY? I guess we’ll find out next week. Should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it.

Andrade “Cien” Almas and Cedric Alexander Vs. The Revival was a great tag team match. I like how both Andrade “Cien” Almas and Cedric Alexander have matching attires despite not being a legit tag team which was cool to see.

Andrade “Cien” Almas and Cedric Alexander did great here as they showed their chemistry together as a tag team which got the crowd behind them. The Revival were great here as well as they showed why they are one of the best tag teams in NXT today. They did great heel tag team wrestling here by doing heel tactics to take advantage of their opponents which is great to see as not a lot of wrestlers can do that these days. Great performances by both teams here.

The ending of the match came when The Revivial hit a Shatter Machine on Cedric Alexander for the pin and win. Despite losing, Andrade “Cien” Almas and Cedric Alexander looked great in defeat and they have nothing to be ashamed of as they lost to a tag team with more experience than they do. With that, The Revival will move on to the quarter-finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

After the match, both Andrade “Cien” Almas and Cedric Alexander looked upset after losing their match until all of a sudden, Andrade “Cien” Almas attacked Cedric Alexander from behind as he brought him to the outside and he sent him face-first to the steel steps. He then posed on the ramp as the crowd booed him for his actions.

After the reaction that Cedric Alexander is getting from the crowd, it made sense for Andrade “Cien” Almas to attack Cedric Alexander because he was the one that lost the match for them and he has gotten booed as of late so this was probably the right call. Plus, a heel Andrade “Cien” Almas is the best Andrade “Cien” Almas. Looking forward to the feud between Cedric Alexander and Andrade “Cien” Almas in NXT. Should be great. Tranquilo!

Great tag team match and great post-match as I’m looking forward to the Cedric Alexander and Andrade “Cien” Almas feud as well as the next first-round matches in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Overall, good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Next week, we’re going to see Tye Dillinger & Bobby Roode Vs. SAnitY in a first round match of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
