NXT 10/12/16 Review: The King is Back, Strong Style!

NXT on October 12, 2016 was a good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with Bobby Roode & Tye Dillinger Vs. SAnitY in the first round match of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and it was a good tag team squash match. I just have to say, the entrance of SAnitY was awesome! Mark out moment! Makes them feel very different from everyone else in the roster. Excellent presentation of SAnitY here.

Two members of SAnitY began to reveal themselves and it turned out to be Alexander Wolfe and Sawyer Fulton! Mark out moment! These two have been teaming up in NXT live events as of late and it’s great to see them back on NXT TV with their new characters.

SAnitY did well in this match as they got to show their aggressive and vicious side of theirs in the ring. Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode didn’t do much in this match and I’ll get to that later, but the part after they make their entrances with Bobby Roode doing his Glorious taunt towards Tye Dillinger and Tye Dillinger doing his Ten taunt towards Bobby Roode was hilarious. Great interaction between those two right there.

The ending of the match came when Bobby Roode was about to help Tye Dillinger when he double teamed by SAnitY, but he backed off and left Tye Dillinger by himself as he headed to the back where SAnitY hit a vertical suplex/powerslam combination on Tye Dillinger for the pin and win. Pretty cool tag team finisher by SAnitY there. With that win, SAnitY moves on to the quarter-finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

After the match, another member of SAnitY began to attack Tye Dillinger and revealed herself as Nikki Cross! Mark out moment! As Nikki Cross was about to do more punishment on Tye Dillinger, the other member of SAnitY stopped her as he picked up Tye Dillinger in the wheelbarrow position to lift him up for an elevated neckbreaker and he revealed himself as Eric Young! Mark out moment for him and the move!

It’s great to see both Nikki Cross and Eric Young back in NXT and I’m glad they’re heels because they work better as heels. Also, love that Eric Young brought back his Youngblood finisher from his early TNA days which was nice to see.

As for Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode, I have a feeling that these two will have a match against each other and it should be a great match between the two when it happens. Looking forward to that when the time comes because it will be glorious! Ten! Ten! Ten!

Good tag team squash match and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Tye Dillinger, Bobby Roode, and SAnitY in NXT.

The backstage interview with Billie Kay and Peyton Royce by Dasha Fuentes was good. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce were talking trash about Liv Morgan with the way she talks, dresses, and how she challenged Asuka as Billie Kay gets ready for her match against Liv Morgan next.

So it seems like we’ll be getting a feud between Liv Morgan, Billie Kay, and Peyton Royce which I’m fine with as the more feuds in NXT, the better. It will be interesting to see how Liv Morgan will fare against Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, but I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Good backstage interview here.

NXT is coming to New Zealand for the first time ever in December so get your tickets now before it’s too late and see NXT live!

The backstage interview with Bobby Roode by Charly Caruso was good. Bobby Roode talked about how Tye Dillinger is a loser and that it’s not his fault on what happened with him with SAnitY as that’s on Tye Dillinger, not him as he left.

How dare you Bobby Roode! How dare you turn on Tye Dillinger! You guys were supposed to be The Glorious Ten! Why Bobby Roode, why?! In all seriousness, this will lead to a feud between Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode which should be great as the dynamic between the two could be gold. Looking forward to it when the time comes. Good backstage interview here.

Liv Morgan Vs. Billie Kay was a good women’s match. After the bullying that Billie Kay and Peyton Royce has done to Liv Morgan for the past few weeks, it finally led to a match between Liv Morgan and Billie Kay which is why this match was taking place.

Liv Morgan did well in this match as she got to showcase her skills in the ring. Her STO on Billie Kay looked devastating. Billie Kay did well in this match too with her trying to get herself heel heat to make the crowd cheer on Liv Morgan which was nice to see. Good performances by both women here.

The ending of the match came when Peyton Royce grabbed Liv Morgan’s leg behind the referee’s back as Billie Kay hit a big boot on Liv Morgan for the pin and win. With that type of finish, I expect the feud between Liv Morgan and Billie Kay being far from over and I’m interested to see what’s next in this feud between Liv Morgan, Billie Kay, and Peyton Royce. Yo!

Good women’s match and I’m interested what’s next in this feud between Liv Morgan, Billie Kay, and Peyton Royce in NXT.

We then get a recap of what happened last week when Andrade “Cien” Almas turned on Cedric Alexander after their tag team match in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. This is good as it shows what happened last week between these two in case people missed it or forgot about it. Plus, it ties into the next segment which I will talk about next.

The interview from the parking lot with Andrade “Cien” Almas by Dasha Fuentes last week was good. Andrade “Cien” Almas said nothing happened and he’s the best as he spoke Spanish and left.

I’m loving this new side of Andrade “Cien” Almas which is similar to his character from CMLL as La Sombra being part of Los Ingobernables. I can’t wait to see Cedric Alexander Vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas again down the road and it should be a great match when it happens. Looking forward to it. Good interview here.

TM-61 Vs. Tino Sabbatelli & Riddick Moss in the first round of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic was a good tag team match. This was Tino Sabbatelli’s and Riddick Moss’s first match as a tag team on NXT TV and I thought they did pretty well for themselves against a veteran tag team like TM-61.

Tino Sabbatelli & Riddick Moss were impressive here as they got to show their tag team chemistry in the ring. Riddick Moss got to show character in this match with him taunting in the ring which was nice to see. Also, Tino Sabbatelli was impressive here in-ring wise when Shane Thorne was about to go hit a springboard on Tino Sabbatelli, but Tino Sabbatelli caught him in mid-air and hit a powerslam on him. Very well executed there.

TM-61 were impressive as well as they continue their tag team chemistry in the ring and they showed why they are the mighty…, and The Mighty Don’t Kneel. Good performances by both tag teams here.

The ending of the match came when TM-61 hit Thunder Valley on Tino Sabbatelli for the pin and win. With that win, TM-61 moves on the to the quarter-finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic.

Good tag team match and I can’t wait to see what’s next for TM-61 in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic as well as Tino Sabbatelli and Riddick Moss in NXT.

NXT is coming to Australia for the first time ever in December so get your tickets now before it’s too late and see NXT live!

It was announced that next week it will be No Way Jose & Rich Swann Vs. Tony Nese & Drew Gulak in a first round match of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Should be a good tag team match next week, looking forward to it.

Wesley Blake Vs. Buddy Murphy was a good match for what it was. After these two having beef with each other for the past few months, it was time for them to settle in the ring together and see who is better once and for all which is why this match is taking place.

Wesley Blake did well in this match as he got to show his character in the ring with being the Beautiful Blond Blake. However, Buddy Murphy was the star of this match as he got to showcase more of his skills in the ring. His somersault dive to Wesley Blake on the outside was executed perfectly. Good performances by both men here.

Unfortunately, the match didn’t have an ending as Samoa Joe came in and destroyed both Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy causing a no contest between the two men. Poor Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy, they got destroyed here and the match was getting interesting too. A shame really. Hopefully, we get to see these two face off again down the road as the match they had before it got interrupted was starting to get good, but we’ll see.

Samoa Joe then got on the mic and said that William Regal’s time is up and he needs to make a decision because he wants Shinsuke Nakamura or the NXT Championship right now.

While Samoa Joe was waiting in the ring, Shinsuke Nakamura came out as he stood on the ramp while taking off his neck brace as he ran to the ring as both Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe brawled with each other. Security then came in to try to break up the brawl, but Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe continued to fight each other until Samoa Joe escaped from the ring and ran down the ramp as Shinsuke Nakamura followed.

Shinsuke Nakamura then began to fight against the guards before fighting Samoa Joe backstage and back to the ramp again. Samoa Joe escaped as security hold Shinsuke Nakamura back, but Shinsuke Nakamura ended up hitting a Kinshasa on a security guard. Once the referees and security left, Samoa Joe came back from the ramp as they both brawled towards the ring. Shinsuke Nakamura then hit Samoa Joe with a Kinshasa as he stood tall in the end.

Wow, that was an intense brawl between Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe there. Loving the intensity of this feud and I can’t wait to see these two tear each other apart when the time comes. Should be excellent. YeaOh!

Good match for what it was between Wesley Blake and Buddy Murphy. Also, great segment between Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe as I can’t wait to see what’s next in the Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Samoa Joe feud in NXT.

Overall, good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Next week, we’re going to see No Way Jose & Rich Swann Vs. Tony Nese & Drew Gulak in a first round match of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
