Lucha Underground 11/2/16 Review: Bye Bye Chavito!

on

Lucha Underground on November 2, 2016 was a good show that is building feuds and storylines for the future as well as building up new characters which is good. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a recap of what happened between Cortez Castro, Dario Cueto, Pentagon Dark, Dragon Azteca Jr., Rey Mysterio, Chavo Classic, and Chavo Guerrero earlier in the season of Lucha Underground Season 3. This is a good way to remind people about what happened during that time in case they missed it or forgot about it as this week, the people from the recap appeared on the show. Well done and well produced.

We then see Chavo Classic in attendance in The Temple! Mark out moment! Great to see Chavo Classic there as he’s a legend in lucha libre. He’s probably there for Rey Mysterio Vs. Chavo Guerrero later on the show which should be a great match. Looking forward to it.

Matanza Vs. Cortez Castro for the Lucha Underground Championship was a good squash match. Dario Cueto was outside of his office with Dario’s Dial of Doom as he spun the wheel and it landed on Dario’s Choice. Dario Cueto was thinking about Rey Mysterio and Pentagon Dark, but ended up choosing Cortez Castro instead as it led to this match.

Cortez Castro did get some offense in this match, but it was not enough as Matanza completely decimated Cortez Castro as hit Cortez Castro with the Wrath of the Gods for the pin and win. After the match, Dario Cueto told Cortez Castro that he was sorry for not knowing that he wasn’t ready to return to the ring as he called Cortez Castro a rat.

Poor Cortez Castro getting beat up again. This is his punishment for not siding with Dario Cueto. You should have join him Cortez Castro! In all seriousness, I’m interested to see how Cortez Castro will fight back as he’s going against Dario Cueto and Matanza by himself at the moment. Will he find backup to face Dario Cueto and Matanza? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Good squash match as I’m looking forward to see what’s next for Cortez Castro in Lucha Underground.

The backstage segment between Dario Cueto, Joey Ryan, Son of Havoc, and Mascarita Sagarada was good. Dario Cueto and Joey Ryan were laughing with each other at Dario Cueto’s office about Cortez Castro’s misfortune. Joey Ryan then left and we see Son of Havoc entering Dario Cueto’s office as he was representing Mascarita Sagrada on his behalf. He told Dario Cueto that Mascarita Sagrada wants a match with Famous B. Dario Cueto then told Son of Havoc that he needed to beat Dr. Wagner Jr. and if he does, Mascarita Sagrada will be the one to pick the stipulation for his match against Famous B, but if he doesn’t, Dr. Wagner Jr. will be the one who picks the stipulation.

It will be interesting to see what type of match Mascarita Sagrada and Famous B will have down the road as I have a feeling it will be a lot of fun. Looking forward to Son of Havoc Vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. later on the show. Should be a good match. Good backstage segment here.

The promo segment between Prince Puma, Catrina, and Mil Muertes was great. Prince Puma was in the ring with a mic in hand and he said that beating Mil Muertes wasn’t enough for him as he needs to avenge Konnan for what Mil Muertes did to him in Season 1. He then challenged Mil Muertes in Grave Consequences where Catrina arrived and they accepted his challenge.

Mil Muertes then came into the ring and attacked Prince Puma where they began to brawl for a little bit until Prince Puma got the upper hand as Mil Muertes left the ring and backed off as both men stared at each other.

Yes, we’re going to get Grave Consequences between Prince Puma and Mil Muertes! Mark out moment! For those of you who don’t know, Grave Consequences is basically their version of the Casket match and this will be the third Grave Consequences match in Lucha Underground. All of the Grave Consequences matches so far have been excellent and I expect this to be an excellent match as well. Looking forward to that match when the time comes.

Great promo segment as I’m looking forward to Prince Puma Vs. Mil Muertes in Grave Consequences down the road.

Son of Havoc Vs. Dr. Wagner Jr. was a good match. This match was made earlier in the show where if Son of Havoc wins, Mascarita Sagrada will pick the stipulation for his match against Famous B, but if Dr. Wagner Jr. wins, Famous B will pick the stipulation for his match against Mascarita Sagrada.

Dr. Wagner Jr. did well in this match as he tried to get himself heel heat in this match so people can cheer and support Son of Havoc where Son of Havoc also did well in this match as he got the crowd behind him throughout the match. Good performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Son of Havoc hit a shooting star press on Dr. Wagner Jr. for the pin and win. With this win, Mascarita Sagrada gets to choose the stipulation for his match against Famous B which will happen next week.

After the match, Mascarita Sagrada whispered in Son of Havoc’s ear and Son of Havoc told Famous B that next week, it will be Mascarita Sagrada Vs. Famous B in a Believer’s Backlash match where the fans in the temple can bring whatever they want in the match.

Oh my god, we’re going to get a Believer’s Backlash match between Mascarita Sagrada Vs. Famous B next week! Mark out moment! For those of you who don’t know, Believer’s Backlash is a match where the fans get to be involved in the match where they can bring any weapon in the match to help support the wrestlers. The last Believer’s Backlash match was on Ultima Lucha with Drago Vs. Hernandez and it was a fun match. I expect this match to be fun too with Famous B getting a huge beating. Looking forward to that match next week, should be fun.

Good match and I’m looking forward to Mascarita Sagrada Vs. Famous B in a Believer’s Backlash match next week.

We get a vignette of the Rabbit Tribe with the leader of the Rabbit Tribe along with two masked luchadores as the leader of Rabbit Tribe revealed himself to be Paul London and they’re coming soon! Mark out moment! Oh my god, Paul London is coming to Lucha Underground! For those of you who don’t know, Paul London is known for his work in WWE from 2001 to 2008 with some appearances in the independent circuit and other countries. It’s great to see Paul London again who hasn’t been on TV for years so it will be great to see him again once he makes his debut in the temple. Looking forward to his debut along with the Rabbit Tribe in the future.

It was announced that next week it will be Prince Puma Vs. Mil Muertes in Grave Consequences. Yes! Should be an excellent match next week and I’m looking forward to it.

Rey Mysterio Vs. Chavo Guerrero in a Loser Leaves Lucha Underground match was excellent. Mark out moment! With these two having a lot of history with each other, you know that these two are going to have a great match together and this match was excellent as it told an excellent story.

Chavo Guerrero did excellent in this match as he tried everything possible to win this match to not only stay in Lucha Underground, but also to continue the Guerrero name and legacy. His tribute to Eddie Guerrero with The Three Amigos (Three Vertical Suplexes) were nice to see. Rey Mysterio also did excellent in this match as he still showed that he has what it takes to be at the top. His Frankensteiner to Chavo Guerrero was well executed. Excellent performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Chavo Classic came into the ring with a chair and was about to hit Rey Mysterio with the chair, but ended up hitting Chavo Guerrero with the chair instead which led to Chavo Guerrero winning by disqualification. Wow…, it seems like this is the last match for Rey Mysterio in Lucha Underground. Now, people may be disappointed with the result, but at the same time, this is a good way to give Chavo Guerrero a lot of heel heat as he just got rid of the people’s hero from the company. However, that means, Rey Mysterio will no longer be in Lucha Underground which is a shame as Rey Mysterio has done great since being in Lucha Underground. I will miss Rey Mysterio in Lucha Underground and I wish him the best of luck on what he does next in Lucha Underground. Thank you Rey Mysterio!

As we thought it was all over, Dario Cueto came out from his office and said that the finish to the main event is unacceptable as he loves violence. Dario Cueto then set up a No Disqualification match between Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero and the match begins right away. Ring the bell!

Now this is why Dario Cueto is awesome, all hail El Jefe! In all seriousness, this is a great way to make up to the fans who might be disappointed that Rey Mysterio got screwed over this match so this is all good. Plus, we got more action and violence! Now, let’s continue the match, ring the bell!

The match was also excellent as they did what they could in the short amount of time that they have. Chavo Guerrero with that Three Amigos and Gory Bomb combo was great to see as Rey Mysterio still managed to kick out which was impressive. Another excellent performance by both men here.

The ending of this match came when Rey Mysterio hit the 619 followed by the diving splash on Chavo Guerrero for the pin and win. With that, Chavo Guerrero leaves Lucha Underground as he looked very emotional after losing. Poor Chavo Guerrero. Well, you did excellent in your last match in Lucha Underground so I guess you’re going to leave with a bang. Goodbye Chavo Guerrero and I wish you luck on what you do next. I wonder what’s next for Rey Mysterio in Lucha Underground and I guess we’ll find out in the future. Booyaka! 619!

Excellent match and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Rey Mysterio in Lucha Underground and good bye Chavo Guerrero!

Overall, good show that helps build up storylines and feuds in the future as well as building up new characters. So many storylines and feuds here and I love it! We have Mascarita Sagrada Vs. Famous B in a Believer’s Backlash match and Prince Puma Vs. Mil Muertes in Grave Consequences next week and we have Aztec Warfare III in two weeks which should be great, looking forward to that. If you haven’t already, please check out Lucha Underground. It’s a great alternative to the mainstream wrestling and you won’t be disappointed. Looking forward to next week’s show. Lucha! Lucha! Lucha! Lucha!
