Lucha Underground 11/9/16 Review: The Prince Suffers Grave Consequences

Lucha Underground on November 9, 2016 was a great show that is building feuds and storylines for the future as well as building up new characters which is good. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a recap of what happened between Famous B, Mascarita Sagrada, Dario Cueto, Son of Havoc, Prince Puma, Vampiro, and Mil Muertes earlier in the season of Lucha Underground Season 3. This is a good way to remind people about what happened during that time in case they missed it or forgot about it as this week, the people from the recap appeared on the show. Well done and well produced.

The video segment between Catrina and Mil Muertes was good. Catrina told Mil Muertes that she doesn’t want Prince Puma to be defeated as she wants Prince Puma to be gasping for life. She then told Mil Muertes that if he doesn’t win, she will not bring him back to life.

It seems like it’s all or nothing for Mil Muertes as he needs to win this match or else he’ll be gone forever. He has been losing Grave Consequences for the past two seasons so Mil Muertes better step up his game if he wants to beat Prince Puma and finally win his own match. Can’t wait to see Prince Puma Vs. Mil Muertes later on the show, should be excellent. Good video segment here.

Mascarita Sagrada Vs. Famous B in a Believer’s Backlash match was fun. This match was a lot of fun that had a lot of fun spots and moments that was very entertaining to watch.

Famous B did well in this match as he got the crowd to boo him throughout the match to make people get behind Mascarita Sagrada. His superkicks to Mascarita Sagrada were brutal. Mascarita Sagrada did well in this match as he used a lot of weapons in this match to try to take down Famous B.

Mascarita Sagrada with the diving splash onto Famous B from the stepladder on top of the announce table was a cool spot. The way Mascarita Sagrada used popcorn and a bowling ball in this match was very fun to watch. Good performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Dr. Wagner Jr. came into the ring and tried to take down Mascarita Sagrada with Famous B’s painting, but Famous B prevented Dr. Wagner Jr. from doing so as it led to Son of Havoc coming out and taking out Dr. Wagner Jr. to even the odds. Mascarita Sagrada then hit Famous B with the painting followed by a suicide dive onto Famous B to the outside. Mascarita Sagrada then threw a pie at Beautiful Brenda‘s face as Mascarita Sagrada got Matt Striker’s shoe and attacked Famous B with it. He then hit a Tornado DDT on Famous B for the pin and win.

It seems like this feud between Mascarita Sagrada and Famous B is over and it was fun while it lasted. After the match, Son of Havoc gave Mascarita Sagrada his own cut-off which was pretty cool to see as it seems like the team of Son of Havoc and Mascarita Sagrada will continue which I’m fine with. Will be interesting to see what these four will do next since this feud seems to be over. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Fun Believer’s Backlash match as I’m interested to see what’s next for Mascarita Sagrada, Son of Havoc, Famous B, and Dr. Wagner Jr. in Lucha Underground.

The backstage segment between Dante Fox and Killshot was good. Dante Fox met with Killshot backstage as Killshot wanted to put their past behind them and he’s just glad that he’s back as they both hugged each other with Dante Fox not looking pleased about it.

It seems like Dante Fox hasn’t forgotten what Killshot did to him whatever the case might be as he didn’t look happy when Killshot hugged him. Very interested to see where this storyline will go and see what direction Dante Fox and Killshot go from here. Good backstage segment here.

The backstage segment between Kobra Moon, Drago, and Vinny Massaro was good. Kobra Moon met with Drago backstage who was practicing his nunchunks as Drago told Kobra Moon that he doesn’t want to anything with her tribe as Vinny Massaro came in with his pizza as he left them alone to go the ladies room.

Well that last part was funny with Vinny Massaro so that was cool to see. In terms of this storyline between Kobra Moon and Drago, I’m really intrigued on where this will go and if Drago will join Kobra Moon or not. I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Good backstage segment here.

Killshot, Dante Fox, Argenis, Texano, & Cage Vs. The Mack, Mariposa, Marty Martinez, Ivelisse, & Jeremiah Crane was a fun ten mixed tag team match where everyone in this match got a chance to shine as the winners of this match will be in Aztec Warfare III next week. Also, Dante Fox and Jeremiah Crane have made their in-ring debuts in Lucha Underground! Mark out moments for both!

Like I said, everyone in this match did well especially Jeremiah Crane and Dante Fox as this was their in-ring debuts so they had to make a big impression and I think they did. Jeremiah Crane had vicious bicycle kicks throughout the match which looked like it could knock someone out cold and Dante Fox had an awesome springboard reverse 450 to the outside on everyone which was awesome to see. Good performances by everyone in this match especially for Jeremiah Crane and Dante Fox.

The ending of the match came when Ivelisse hit a reverse hurricanrana on Killshot where she tolled to the floor holding her ankle and when Marty Martinez was about to finish Killshot off, Dante Fox stopped him. Dante Fox then hit Killshot with the straightjacket fisherman buster and spitted on Killshot’s face afterwards as he left the ring where Marty Martinez pin Killshot for the win. With that, The Mack, Mariposa, Marty Martinez, Ivelisse, and Jeremiah Gray will move on to Aztec Warfare III next week.

First of all, poor Ivelisse. It seemed like she injured her ankle again like she did in Season 1. Hopefully, it’s not that major and she’ll be okay by next week, but we’ll see. It seems like Dante Fox hasn’t forgive what Killshot has done to him and it seems like the feud between him will continue after this. It will be interesting to see what happens when these two face each other in the ring in singles action. I guess we’ll find out in the future. As for the winners going to Aztec Warfare III, I’m fine with it as I think those five will do well in the match and I think they should be fine. Looking forward to Aztec Warfare III next week. Should be excellent.

Fun ten mixed tag team match and I can’t wait to see Aztec Warfare III next week which should be awesome.

The backstage segment between Dario Cueto and Matanza was good. Dario Cueto gave Matanza a pep talk reminding him what their father trained him for as Aztec Warfare III is next week where Matanza replied by saying war.

Next week at Aztec Warfare III, there will be a war when “The Monster” Matanza is in the match. It will be interesting to see if Matanza can retain his Lucha Underground Championship next week or not. Either way, looking forward to Aztec Warfare III next week which should be excellent. Good backstage segment here.

Prince Puma Vs. Mil Muertes in Grave Consequences was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Just like the previous Grave Consequences matches in Lucha Underground for the past two seasons, this one was no different as these two did whatever it takes to each other down and out in a very competitive and even match where neither man looked weak in the process.

Prince Puma was excellent in this match as he did whatever it takes to get revenge on Mil Muertes for what he did to Konnan in Season 1 of Lucha Underground. I like how before Mil Muertes made his way to the ring, Prince Puma attacked him from behind because he couldn’t wait any longer to get his hands on Mil Muertes so great storytelling there. Prince Puma’s dive from the steps to the bleachers on Mil Muertes was freaking amazing! Mark out moment! No matter how many times I see that spot, that spot looks amazing no matter how many times I see it because it’s just incredible. Excellent performance by Prince Puma here.

Mil Muertes also did excellent in this match as he did whatever it takes to destroy Prince Puma as he knew if he doesn’t win, he will never be revived. Mil Muertes’ chokeslam on Prince Puma when Prince Puma was on the top rope through the two tables looked like it hurt. Props to Prince Puma for taking that spot and Mil Muertes looked like a beast in this match. Excellent performance by Mil Muertes here.

The ending of the match came when Mil Muertes hit a reverse STO on Prince Puma on the floor as he put Prince Puma into the casket that he put Konnan in from Season 1 of Lucha Underground for the win. Excellent storytelling there in the end as Mil Muertes put Prince Puma in the same casket that he put Konnan in from Season 1 of Lucha Underground. So it seems like Prince Puma is dead or will be gone from Lucha Underground for a little while which is a shame because Prince Puma is the face of Lucha Underground and with Prince Puma not being there is a bit strange, but I think Lucha Underground will survive without him as they still have very talented guys on their roster. Also, Mil Muertes finally got a win in his own match. It will be interesting to see what happens next with Prince Puma and Mil Muertes in Lucha Underground. Looking forward to it.

Excellent match and I can’t wait to see what’s next for Prince Puma and Mil Muertes in Lucha Underground.

Overall, great show that helps build up storylines and feuds in the future as well as building up new characters. So many storylines and feuds here and I love it! Next week, we have Aztec Warfare III which should be great, looking forward to that. If you haven’t already, please check out Lucha Underground. It’s a great alternative to the mainstream wrestling and you won’t be disappointed. Looking forward to next week’s show. Lucha! Lucha! Lucha! Lucha!
