NXT 11/16/16 Review: The Road to NXT Toronto is Tranquilo!

NXT on November 16, 2016 was a good show that is building up NXT Toronto this week. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with Liv Morgan Vs. Peyton Royce and it was a good women’s match. After months of attacks from Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, Liv Morgan would do anything it takes to get revenge on them which is why this match happened between Liv Morgan and Peyton Royce where Billie Kay was at ringside.

Peyton Royce did well in this match as she tried to get heel heat from the crowd to make people cheer for Liv Morgan. Liv Morgan also did well in this match as she tried to overcome the odds against Peyton Royce in the ring and Billie Kay out at ringside. Good performances by both women here.

The ending of the match came when Liv Morgan was locking in Peyton Royce with a guillotine choke until Billie Kay came in and attacked Liv Morgan to cause a disqualification which makes Liv Morgan the winner. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce continued their assault on Liv Morgan until Aliyah came in to help even the odds, but Billie Kay and Peyton Royce took Aliyah out with a knee to Billie Kay’s face followed by Peyton Royce tossing her to the digital display at ringside.

Billie Kay and Peyton Royce were about to finish Liv Morgan off until Ember Moon came in and took out both Billie Kay and Peyton Royce with the assist of Liv Morgan. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce began to retreat as they stare down Ember Moon, Liv Morgan, and Aliyah who were standing in the ring.

It seems like we’ll be getting a future six woman tag team match down the line as Billie Kay and Peyton Royce need to find someone who can team up with them to take on Ember Moon, Liv Morgan, and Aliyah. I wonder who will team up with Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

Good women’s match and I can’t wait to see the future match between Ember Moon, Liv Morgan & Aliyah against Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and a possible third woman in this feud.

We then get a recap of what happened last month when Andrade “Cien” Almas turned on Cedric Alexander in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic as they will face each other in the main event of this show. This is good as it showed what happened last month between Cedric Alexander and Andrade “Cien” Almas for people that have missed it or forgot about it. Looking forward to their match later on the show. Should be great.

Just a reminder that Devil’s Calling by Parkway Drive is a theme for NXT Toronto and it’s a good song. NXT Toronto is this week and I can’t wait to see it. Should be a great show.

We then get a recap of what happened in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and that TM-61 will face Authors of Pain in the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic where William Regal said that Paul Ellering will be stuck in a cage to prevent any interference in their match at NXT Toronto. So Paul Ellering will once again be stuck in a cage just like he did many decades ago. Nice reference of history there which was cool to see. I’m looking forward to TM-61 Vs. Authors of Pain in the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic at NXT Toronto. Should be a good tag team match and I’m looking forward to it.

The Return then made his return to NXT and it turned out to be “The Drifter” Elias Samson! Mark out moment! We haven’t seen Elias Samson on NXT for a while due to injury, but now he’s back and he even sang a song for us which wasn’t bad, but could have been better. He probably did that on purpose to get heel heat. Anyway, let’s talk about his return match.

Nathan Cruz Vs. Elias Samson was a good squash match. Oh my god! Nathan Cruz just made an appearance on NXT! Mark out moment! For those of you who don’t know, Nathan Cruz is well known for his work in PROGRESS as he is a part of The Origin faction which is one of the best factions in PROGRESS at the moment. Hope he gets signed by NXT because he’s a very talented man. While they’re at it, they should tried to sign El Ligero as well.

Nathan Cruz didn’t get much offense in this match unfortunately as Elias Samson completely dominated him in this match. Elias Samson got some great offense in this match with his jumping knee to the face on Nathan Cruz when he was down near the ring apron as well as his rolling cutter on Nathan Cruz for the pin and win. Love the new finisher that Elias Samson is using, looks devastating. Great to see Elias Samson in NXT and I’m very interested to see what NXT will do with him. What NXT needs, is who he is!

Good squash match as I’m interested to see what’s next for Elias Samson in NXT and NXT, please sign Nathan Cruz!

The backstage interview between Ember Moon, Liv Morgan, and Aliyah by Dasha Fuentes was good. Ember Moon said that her path is now Liv Morgan’s and Aliyah’s path after what Billie Kay and Peyton Royce have done to them. Liv Morgan then insulted Peyton Royce for being a bad knockoff of Poison Ivy and Billie Kay for looking like Popeye’s Olive Oil. She then challenged Billie Kay and Peyton Royce to find a partner for a future six woman tag team match.

Love the references that Liv Morgan brought up that, that was awesome. It seems like we’ll be getting a future six woman tag team match down the road which should be a fun six woman tag team match when it happens. Looking forward to it. Good backstage interview here.

NXT is coming to Australia for the first time ever in December so get your tickets now before it’s too late and see NXT live!

We then get a recap of what happened in The Revival Vs. #DIY feud and that they will face each other at NXT Toronto for the NXT Tag Team Championships in a 2 Out of 3 Falls match. #DIY talked about how that their moment was supposed to happen at NXT Brooklyn II, but they failed and they felt ashamed that they let their fans down. The Revival talked about how #DIY are good, but they are the best tag team on this planet. #DIY then talked about their loss to The Revival at NXT Brooklyn II and that feeling is still haunting them. However, they said they will the NXT Tag Team Championships and if not, all of their effort was for nothing. The Revival then said that #DIY are human beings while they are machines that can’t be beaten. Both of #DIY and The Revival that they will win at NXT Toronto.

This was a great recap as it really helped build up the feud between The Revival and #DIY for their match at NXT Toronto. Love how NXT make #DIY the underdogs in this match and it makes me want to cheer for them at NXT Toronto which is good because they are babyfaces and you want the babyfaces to win. Their match at NXT Brooklyn II was excellent and I expect this match to be no different. Looking forward to it. Top guys out! Do it yourself!

Just a reminder that Hated by Beartooth is a theme for NXT Toronto and it’s a good song. NXT Toronto is next week and I can’t wait to see it. Should be a great show.

We then get a recap of what happened in the Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode feud and that they will face each other at NXT Toronto. Bobby Roode talked about how he didn’t want to be in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, but Tye Dillinger wanted him as his partner so he accepted it. He then said that he knew he had to carry Tye Dillinger and that he had no chance of winning because of him. Tye Dillinger talked about how this wasn’t his first time in WWE as he was in WWE back in 2006 before getting released after three matches on WWE TV and then he managed to get back to WWE five years later. Bobby Roode then said that Tye Dillinger was pathetic. Tye Dillinger then said that this was a second opportunity for him and that it meant everything to him. Bobby Roode then said that Tye Dillinger is not a perfect ten and that he is a loser. Tye Dillinger then said that he won’t be underrated anymore because he will rate himself and that he is a perfect ten. Bobby Roode then said that Tye Dillinger has been in WWE for a long time and now he thinks that he can outshine him is ludicrous. Tye Dillinger then said that it doesn’t matter what his past is and how glorious Bobby Roode is because at NXT Toronto, he’s going to beat Bobby Roode up. Bobby Roode then said that Tye Dillinger is a perfect loser and that at NXT Toronto, he will prove it to him.

This was a great recap as it really helped build up the feud between Tye Dillinger and Bobby Roode for their match at NXT Toronto. I love how NXT made Tye Dillinger talked about his past in WWE which a lot of people may not know about so that was a nice touch and it made you feel that you want to support him because this is his second chance in WWE and he wants to make the best out of it which is good because he is a babyface in this feud where you want to cheer the babyface so I liked that a lot. I expect a great match between the two at NXT Toronto. Looking forward to it. Glorious! Ten!

Cedric Alexander Vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas was a great match. After what happened between the two last month, it led to this match and it was great as it was very even where neither man looked weak in the process.

Cedric Alexander did great in this match as he took Andrade “Cien” Almas to the limit as well as showing a serious attitude in the ring. His somersault dive to the outside on Andrade “Cien” Almas and his Lumbar Check (Belly-to-Back Suplex into a Double Knee Backbreaker) on Andrade “Cien” Almas were executed perfectly. Andrade “Cien” Almas did great in this match too as he got to show his new heel character and it was great. His slap to Cedric Alexander to the corner was awesome and it fits with his new character very well so I enjoyed that a lot. His schoolboy pin into a one-arm powerbomb pin on Cedric Alexander was great as well. Great performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Andrade “Cien” Almas hit the middle rope where Cedric Alexander was on as he took advantage by grabbing and hitting the Hammerlock DDT on Cedric Alexander for the pin and win. A great win for Andrade “Cien” Almas here as he got to showcase his new character. Can’t wait to see what’s next for Cedric Alexander and Andrade “Cien” Almas in NXT. Tranquilo!

Great match and I’m interested to see what’s next for Cedric Alexander and Andrade “Cien” Almas in NXT.

We then get a recap of what happened in the Shinsuke Nakamura and Samoa Joe feud and that they will face each other at NXT Toronto for the NXT Championship. This was a great recap as these two have been feuding for months now and they will finally clash again this week at NXT Toronto. I expect this match to be excellent, brutal, and violent. Looking forward to it. Joe’s gonna kill you! YeaOh! Great way to end the show to make people hype for NXT Toronto this week.

Overall, good show that is building up NXT Toronto this week. Next week, we’re going to have the fallout of NXT Toronto which should be interesting to see. NXT Toronto is this week and I’m looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
