NXT 11/23/16 Review: Yo Yo Yo, Toronto!

NXT on November 23, 2016 was a good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package showing highlights of NXT Toronto. This is good as it shows what happened at NXT Toronto in case people missed it or forgot about it. Well produced video package here.

Rich Swann Vs. Kona Reeves was a good match for what it was. Kona Reeves is the former Noah Potjes who has gotten a new character and a new name. Great to see him back on NXT TV as he has a lot of potential to be a star in NXT.

Kona Reeves was impressive in this match as he got to showcase his character and his skills in the ring. His pop-up Samoan Drop on Rich Swann was impressive to watch. Also, he got to show some of his character and charisma with the taunts he has been doing throughout the whole match. Rich Swann did well in this match as he got to show his charisma in the ring. Rich Swann was over with the crowd in Toronto and they love him. His standing 450 double leg drop on Kona Reeves looked painful as heck. Good performances by both men here.

However, the match didn’t get an ending as SAnitY showed up and took out both Rich Swann and Kona Reeves to end the match in a no contest. SAnitY (Alexander Wolfe & Sawyer Fulton) hit the vertical suplex/front powerslam combination on Kona Reeves to take him out. Rich Swann then tried to take out SAnitY as he hit a diving crossbody on Alexander Wolfe, but SAnitY was too much for Rich Swann as Eric Young finished off Rich Swann with a wheelbarrow position transitioned into an elevated neckbreaker.

Eric Young then got the mic and said that this generation will be remembered and revered. Eric Young said that they tried to do it their way, but they got nothing out of it. Instead, they are going to take what is theirs and nothing can stop them.

It’s great to see SAnitY finally getting a chance to talk as Eric Young is charismatic and is great on the mic. Hopefully, they will let Nikki Cross talk on the mic because she is excellent in that aspect of wrestling. Very charismatic, hope they do it in the future. It’s a shame that Rich Swann and Kona Reeves didn’t get a chance to finish their match as the match was starting to get good. Hopefully, they will face each other again down the line as I want to see the finish of the match. As for SAnitY creating havoc, I like it. It shows that they’re a dominant force and they are guys that you don’t want to mess with. It will be interesting to see what SAnitY will do next in NXT. Looking forward to it. SAnitY!

Good match while it lasted and good post-match as I’m interested to see what’s next for SAnitY in NXT.

The segment between No Way Jose and SAnitY was good. No Way Jose was checking on Rich Swann to see if he was okay after the beating he took from SAnitY as SAnitY was walking up the ramp. No Way Jose then got the mic and told SAnitY to get back in the ring so he can fight them. He then want to fight Eric Young as he wants to beat him up all over Toronto. This led to SAnitY coming into the ring which led to a brawl between No Way Jose and SAnitY.

No Way Jose got the upper hand at SAnitY at first, but the numbers game was too much for him as SAnitY took down No Way Jose. Nikki Cross hit a missile dropkick on the back of No Way Jose’s head as Eric Young finished No Way Jose off with the wheelbarrow position transitioned into an elevated neckbreaker as they stood tall over him.

I admire that No Way Jose wants to take down SAnitY, but trying to do it himself is insane. Cool to see Nikki Cross getting some offense on men as it shows that Nikki Cross is not a woman to mess with. It seems like we’ll be getting a feud with No Way Jose and SAnitY which should be a good feud. No Way Jose needs to find some partners if he wants to take out SAnitY. Maybe he’ll ask Rich Swann to help him fight SAnitY, but we’ll see. No Way Jose! SAnitY!

Good segment and I can’t wait to see what’s next in this No Way Jose and SAnitY feud in NXT.

We then get a recap of TM-61 Vs. Authors of Pain in the finals of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic at NXT Toronto. This is good in case people missed or forgot about it as it was a good tag team match. Plus, it also ties into the next segment on this show.

The backstage interview with Paul Ellering and Authors of Pain after their match against TM-61 was good. Paul Ellering said that chapter 1 was their arrival as a team of destiny. Paul Ellering then said that chapter 2, they unleased a plethora of pain which led them to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. Paul Ellering then that chapter 3 is yet to be seen as he let Authors of Pain talk.

Authors of Pain have been unstoppable as of late and they are now the 2016 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic winners. I expect them to go after the NXT Tag Team Championships after this as it’s the most logical choice to do at this point for them. #DIY, you guys better be prepared because Authors of Pain are probably coming for you next after The Revival gets their rematch clause. Good backstage interview here.

The backstage segment between Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and Daria Berenato at NXT Toronto was good. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce found Daria Berenato shadowboxing in the locker room as Daria Berenato got in their faces as Billie Kay and Peyton Royce wanted Daria Berenato to be in their team for their six woman tag team match in which Daria Berenato accepted as she wants to beat people up.

Daria Berenato is Billie Kay’s and Peyton Royce’s tag team partner for the six woman tag team match! Mark out moment! Daria Berenato is a woman that has a lot of potential as I saw her live at NXT San Jose last month and she had a great match with Asuka on that show. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce made the right decision to have Daria Berenato as their tag team partner and it will be interesting to see how Liv Morgan, Aliyah, and Ember Moon will deal with her. Good backstage segment here.

Just a reminder that Hated by Beartooth was a theme for NXT Toronto so if you haven’t listened to it yet, please do so because it’s a great song. Also, if you haven’t already, watch NXT Toronto. Great show.

We then get a recap of Tye Dillinger Vs. Bobby Roode at NXT Toronto. This is good in case people missed or forgot about it as it was a great match. Plus, it also ties into the next segment on this show.

The backstage interview with Tye Dillinger after his match with Bobby Roode was great. Tye Dillinger said that he was disappointed that he couldn’t get the win against Bobby Roode as he was this close of beating, but he couldn’t get the job done. He said that it was tough for him because he lost in front of his family in his homecountry in Canada. Tye Dillinger then said that he wasn’t too sure what’s next for him in NXT, but the fans haven’t given up on him yet so will he as he’s still a perfect ten.

I really love the emotion that Tye Dillinger put in this interview as he really seem disappointed that he lost after gaining so much momentum as of late. Despite that, I like how he’s not giving up and this is only the beginning for him as he will climb back up and he will get his moment eventually because he’s a perfect ten. Great backstage interview here.

We then get a recap of The Revival Vs. #DIY for the NXT Tag Team Championships at NXT Toronto. This is good in case people missed or forgot about it as it was an excellent tag team match. Plus, it also ties into the next segment on this show.

The backstage interview with #DIY after their match against The Revival was great. #DIY were almost speechless as they couldn’t believe that they are the new NXT Tag Team Champions. They expressed their brotherly love for one another and how long it took them to finally be here as they did it.

Just like with the Tye Dillinger interview, I really love the emotion that #DIY put in this interview. They were speechless at first because they can’t believe that they actually won the NXT Tag Team Championships. It really shows how much the NXT Tag Team Championships mean to #DIY and how emotional it was when they finally won them. Very happy for #DIY and I think they’re going to be great NXT Tag Team Champions. Great backstage interview here.

Just a reminder that Devil’s Calling by Parkway Drive was a theme for NXT Toronto so if you haven’t listened to it yet, please do so because it’s a great song. Also, if you haven’t already, watch NXT Toronto. Great show.

We then get a recap of Asuka Vs. Mickie James for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Toronto. This is good in case people missed or forgot about it as it was a great women’s match. Plus, it also ties into the next segment on this show.

The backstage interview with Mickie James after her match against Asuka was good. Mickie James talked about that despite losing, she had an amazing experience and she felt very happy when she heard the roar of the crowd from Toronto. She then said that Asuka is an incredible competitor and she thought she could beat her, but it didn’t happen as she wished she would have received the handshake from Asuka.

Even though I think this was Mickie James’ first and only appearance in NXT, I would love to see her back on NXT as I think she could be very beneficial to the NXT Women’s division that could help put over their women in NXT. Heck, even the main roster will suffice as well, but it all depends on her. Whatever the case might be, if this was Mickie James’ only appearance in NXT, then I say, thank you Mickie James! Good backstage interview here.

We then get a recap of Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Samoa Joe for the NXT Championship at NXT Toronto. This is good in case people missed of forgot about it as it was an excellent match. Plus, it also ties into the next segment on this show.

The interview out in the parking lot with Shinsuke Nakamura was good. Shinsuke Nakamura said that he wants a rematch with Samoa Joe for the NXT Championship as he heads to his car.

I like how Shinsuke Nakamura was short, sweet, and to the point with this interview as he’s looking to get back his NXT Championship. Can’t wait for the rematch between the two when it happens, it should be excellent. Good interview here.

We then get an announcement that next week, Samoa Joe will make an appearance on the show. It will be interesting to see what Samoa Joe has to say about his title win. Looking forward to it. Joe’s gonna kill you!

Just a reminder that Come Back For More by Turnstile was a theme for NXT Toronto so if you haven’t listened to it yet, please do so because it’s a great song. Also, if you haven’t already, watch NXT Toronto. Great show.

We then get an announcement that next week, we’ll get No Way Jose Vs. Eric Young. Should be a good match between the two next week. Looking forward to it. SAnitY! No Way Jose!

Liv Morgan, Aliyah & Ember Moon Vs. Billie Kay, Peyton Royce & Daria Berenato was a good six woman tag team match. After months of Billie Kay and Peyton Royce bullying Liv Morgan, Liv Morgan found some backup to face them which led to this match.

Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and Daria Berenato did well in this match as they tried to take down Liv Morgan, Aliyah, and Ember Moon at every point possible. Daria Berenato was very impressive in this match as she had great take downs on Aliyah in this match. Liv Morgan, Aliyah, and Ember Moon did well in this match too as they got the crowd behind them to take out the bad ladies. Liv Morgan was impressive here with her opening offense in this match. Good performances all six women here.

The ending of the match came when Billie Kay dragged both Peyton Royce and Daria Berenato back to their own corner as she tagged Daria Berenato to get in the ring. Daria Berenato looked confused about it as Ember Moon hits the diving corkscrew stunner on Daria Berenato out of nowhere for the pin and win. Wow, that diving corkscrew stunner out of nowhere was awesome. It seemed like Billie Kay and Peyton Royce may have a new enemy in Daria Berenato after what happened in this match which I’m all for it since the more women’s feuds in NXT, the better. Will be interesting to see where all of these six women go from here. Looking forward to it.

Good six woman tag team match and I’m interested to see what’s next for Liv Morgan, Aliyah, Ember Moon, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and Daria Berenato in NXT.

It was announced that in two weeks, it will be Samoa Joe Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the NXT Championship in Osaka, Japan! Mark out moment! It’s great to see that NXT is taping TV more on the road again and this time it will be in Japan! Will be interesting to see how the crowd will react to this match in two weeks. Looking forward to it when the time comes. Joe’s gonna kill you! YeaOh!

Overall, good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Next week, we’re going to have Samoa Joe making an appearance as well as No Way Jose Vs. Eric Young which should be interesting to see. NXT! NXT! NXT!
