Topic/Subject: Today, I will be showing a match that involves a tag team that brings pain.
Wrestlers: Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar).
Background Information: Akam is from Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada, he attended Simon Fraser University where he was a standout collegiate wrestler.
He was the Canadian national freestyle wrestling champion in 2011, 2012, and 2013 in the heavyweight category. He won a gold medal in the 115 kg category at the 2009 Canada Summer Games, and a silver medal at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico.
He competed in the qualification tournament for the 2012 Summer Olympics, missing out on qualification after losing to Dremiel Byers.
He was considered a prospect for the 2016 Summer Olympics, but left amateur wrestling after being offered a contract with WWE in 2014, having been scouted for the company by Gerald Brisco.
In October 2014, he was reported to have signed a contract with WWE and would begin training to become a professional wrestler at the WWE Performance Center. He made his in-ring debut at a WWE NXT house show in Orlando, Florida, on April 4, 2015, competing in a battle royal which was won by Scott Dawson.
Rezar is an ethnic Kosovo Albanian who grew up in the Netherlands. He began practicing judo from the age of four, took up kickboxing at age 12 and began training in mixed martial arts alongside his brother Egzon at the age of 15.
He joined Golden Glory management team and began to compete in amateur mixed martial arts Shooto competitions in the Netherlands in 2012.
His first professional fight was in November 2012 against Anatoli Ciumac which he won. He competed for Bellator MMA at Bellator 130 in October 2014, losing via TKO to Daniel Gallemore.
In May 2015, it was reported that he had signed a contract with WWE and would begin training to become a professional wrestler at the WWE Performance Center.
In October 2015, WWE confirmed that he was a developmental recruit already training at the Performance Center. He made his in-ring debut at a WWE NXT house show in Venice, Florida on January 30, 2016, losing to Josh Woods.
By February 2016, Akam and Rezar formed a tag team and they became known as the Authors of Pain by April 2016.
They made their televised NXT debuts on June 8, 2016, at NXT Takeover: The End; following the NXT Tag Team Championship match, they attacked former champions American Alpha before leaving backstage with Paul Ellering.
On June 15, 2016, on an episode of NXT, they won their first televised match and were managed by Paul Ellering. On August 24, 2016, on an edition of NXT, their ring names were revealed to be Akam and Rezar.
Throughout their NXT careers, they won the 2016 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. They still compete in NXT to this day.
My Thoughts: Authors of Pain are a tag team that are dominant and they looked like a force that shouldn’t be messed with. Even though they’re still pretty green in the ring and they don’t have much charisma, they make it up with their intimidating looks, their presence in and outside of the ring, and their good characters. Pain!
Video: This video contains a match between Authors of Pain and #DIY in a semi-final match in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic on November 9, 2016.
My Thoughts: This was a great tag team match as it showcased that Authors of Pain are a force to be reckoned within NXT.
Authors of Pain displayed impressive strength in this match where they managed to toss #DIY everywhere. When Johnny Gargano was about to hit the suicide dive on Authors of Pain, they caught him in mid-air and when Tommaso Ciampa was about to hit a suicide dive on them, they threw Johnny Gargano to Tommaso Ciampa which was an awesome cool spot there.
Rezar was the star of this match in my opinion as he got to showcase his impressive strength and power in this match. He got Tommaso Ciampa in a Samoan Drop position and Johnny Gargano was about to hit a diving crossbody on him, but he caught Johnny Gargano and did a Samoan Drop/Fallaway Slam combination on #DIY which was very impressive.
They end up winning the match with an assist of Paul Ellering and The Revival, but despite that, they still look dominant and they proved that they are a force to be reckoned with in the NXT Tag Team Division.
Great tag team match that showed the dominance of Authors of Pain.
Authors of Pain have the potential to be a dominant tag team and with Paul Ellering as their manager, that might be possible. It all depends on how WWE booked them and so forth, but until then, they will dominate in NXT. Pain!
After watching the video, give me your thoughts on the video or the wrestler themselves. Thank you.
