205 Live 11/29/16 Review: Can You Handle This?!

Hello everyone, this is Vaude Influence.

With the Cruiserweight Classic being done, a new show has emerged for the cruiserweights and it’s known as 205 Live.

Anyway, I don’t want to go into details so let’s just start the review shall we?

205 Live on November 29, 2016 was a good show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package showing what the Cruiserweights are about and what they do in the ring. This is good as it shows people what cruiserweights are and what they are capable of in the ring. Well produced video package here.

The commentary for this show contains Mauro Ranallo, Corey Graves, and Austin Aries! Mark out moment for Austin Aries being on this show as a color commentator! I knew that Mauro Ranallo and Corey Graves were going to be on this show, but I didn’t expect Austin Aries to be on this show so it’s great to see him here. Great commentary team right here and they did pretty well on this show so hands off to all three men here.

We then see Greg Hamilton introducing the cruiserweights in 205 Live which consists of Rich Swann, TJ Perkins, Jack Gallagher, HoHo Lun, Gurv Sihra, Harv Sihra, Noam Dar, Tony Nese, Drew Gulak, Ariya Daivari, Cedric Alexander, Lince Dorado, Akira Tozawa, Mustafa Ali, Gran Metalik, and The Brian Kendrick. Not a bad list of cruiserweights in this show here. I can’t wait to see all of them in action on this show and I’m looking forward to it.

We then get a vignette about Bollywood Boyz and it was good. Bollywood Boyz talked about how it took them eleven years to finally make it to the WWE and they talked about their in-ring styles and their influences in wrestling along with their Indian culture and heritage. Bollywood Boyz then talked about their grandfather who is blind and even though he can’t see them on TV, he’s very happy that they made it to the WWE. They then talked about how they’re into Bollywood and they’re going bring Bollywood into WWE.

I like how 205 Live is actually giving characters to these cruiserweights unlike Raw where they only have them in matches and rarely have them talk. This is a good way to let the people know who these cruiserweights are and their purpose for wrestling. Nice story for Bollywood Boyz here and I’m glad they made it to the WWE. Good vignette here.

Bollywood Boyz Vs. University City Athletes was a good tag team match. University City Athletes are known as Drew Gulak and Tony Nese who have been a tag team as of late, but they don’t have a tag team name so I decided to give them one and that is, University City Athletes, combining both their nicknames into one. Anyway, back to the match itself.

Before the match started, both teams shook hands and as Gurv Sihra had his back turned, Tony Nese attacked him from behind where University City Athletes took advantage. Good to see more character development here which is needed so people know who are the babyfaces or the heels in the cruiserweight division so this was good.

University City Athletes did well in this match as they tried to take down Bollywood Boyz at every point possible. Bollywood Boyz did well in this match too as they tried to overcome the odds of University City Athletes. The back springboard crossbody by Harv Sihra to Drew Gulak was cool to see. Good performances by both teams here.

The ending of the match came when Bollywood Boyz hit a double superkick on Drew Gulak for the pin and win. A great win for Bollywood Boyz and I’m interested to see what they do next in 205 Live.

After the match, Dasha Fuentes interviewed University City Athletes about their loss to Bollywood Boyz. Drew Gulak said that win was a fluke as he thought Bollywood Boyz aren’t from Bollywood at all as he thinks Bollywood doesn’t exist. Tony Nese then said that the only reason they lost is because of the ring itself and they left being furious.

It seems like there may be a feud between Bollywood Boyz and University City Athletes down the line which should be an interesting feud to see. Looking forward to see what happens next between Bollywood Boyz and University City Athletes in 205 Live.

Good tag team match and I’m interested to see what’s going to happen between Bollywood Boyz and University City Athletes in 205 Live.

We then get a vignette about Noam Dar and it was good. Noam Dar talked about how he’s different from anyone else and that even though, he’s very young, he’s very experienced in the ring. He then said that in 205 Live, he’s going to be a supernova.

Once again, 205 Live is actually giving characters to these cruiserweights unlike Raw. Don’t be surprised if I knock Raw a lot, but it is what it is. Nice story for Noam Dar and I’m glad he made it to the WWE. Good vignette here.

The backstage segment between The Brian Kendrick and TJ Perkins with Tom Phillips is good. We see The Brian Kendrick backstage getting ready for his title match against Rich Swann as Tom Phillips showed up and asked The Brian Kendrick about his chances. The Brian Kendrick said that the division is all about him and that Rich Swann has a bright future ahead of him, but he’s going to lose to him.

TJ Perkins then showed up and said to The Brian Kendrick that he is still owed a rematch against him and that he wished him luck as Brian Kendrick looked pissed.

It seems like the feud between TJ Perkins and Brian Kendrick is far from over and I’m fine with it as the story between these two has been quite interesting as of late and I’m interested to see what they will do next in this feud. Good backstage segment here.

We then get a vignette that Gran Metalik is coming soon to 205 Live. For those of who don’t know, Gran Metalik is known as Mascara Dorada during his time in CMLL and he’s an amazing performer in that ring. Can’t wait to see him debut. It’s going to be great.

Jack Gallagher Vs. Ariya Daivari was a good match. Before the match started, both men shook hands with Ariya Daivari looking disgusted shaking hands with Jack Gallagher. Again, great showing of character there. Small details like that make a big difference.

Ariya Daivari did well in this match as he tried to take down Jack Gallagher at every point possible. His discus elbow smash on Jack Gallagher looked devastating. Jack Gallagher did well in this match too as he showed the crowd that he’s an extraordinary gentleman in the ring with his charisma and his unique in-ring style. His headbutt to Ariya Daivari looked painful as heck. Good performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Jack Gallagher hit a running dropkick on Ariya Daivari to the corner for the pin and win. A great win for Jack Gallagher and I think he’s going to be a future Cruiserweight Champion in WWE one day and that’s being a gentleman!

Good match and I’m interested to see what’s next for Jack Gallagher and Ariya Daivari in 205 Live.

We then get a vignette about Lince Dorado and it was good. Lince Dorado talked about how he got his name and what it means to him personally as a wrestler representing Puerto Rico. He then said that he’s a hybrid luchador and he’s going to bring it in 205 Live.

Again, 205 Live is actually giving characters to these cruiserweights unlike Raw. Nice story for Lince Dorado here and I’m glad he made it to the WWE. Good vignette here.

Rich Swann Vs. The Brian Kendrick for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship was a great match. Before the match, we got a video package about Rich Swann about how he had a hard time growing up as his parents passed away at a young age, but wrestling saved his life and he’s going to do it for himself and for the fans.

That video package was great as it showed how much the Cruiserweight Championship meant to him and who Rich Swann really is as a character. Again, 205 Live giving these cruiserweights characters unlike Raw. That was great. They shook hands before the match and they did the formal in-ring introductions which is a nice touch as it shows how important this match is so that’s great to see.

The Brian Kendrick was great in this match as he was the veteran that tried to keep Rich Swann down so he can retain his championship at every way possible. His in-ring psychology was great here as he wwas working on Rich Swann’s neck throughout the entire match. His neckbreaker on Rich Swann on the turnbuckle looked like it hurt a lot and his shiranui on Rich Swann was devastating as well. Great performance by The Brian Kendrick here.

Rich Swann was great in this match too as he was trying to fight back The Brian Kendrick at every possible chance despite being punished a lot. His somersault clothesline on The Brian Kendrick from the railing to the floor was amazing. Great performance by Rich Swann here.

The ending of the match came when Rich Swann hit The Brian Kendrick with three reverse roundhouse kicks for the pin and win as Rich Swann is your new Cruiserweight Champion! Mark out moment! After everything that Rich Swann had to go through when wrestling, he finally made his dream come true and he is now a champion in WWE. Can you handle this?!

After the match, Dasha Fuentes interviewed Rich Swann about his win and Rich Swann said that this title is for the fans and that he did all of this for his mother who is no longer with him as he raised his title. A very nice moment for Rich Swann there as he has to go through a lot to make it to this point. I bet his mother is smiling for his victory win here. Very happy for Rich Swann and congratulations, you deserved it!

We then see Tom Phillips interviewing The Brian Kendrick on the ramp as Tom Phillips asked The Brian Kendrick about what happened and The Brian Kendrick that his loss was a fluke and it was thanks to TJ Perkins that costed him in the match as he got to his head earlier in the night. He then said that Rich Swann’s moment will be cut short because he’s coming back for that title as he left.

It seems like the feud between TJ Perkins and The Brian Kendrick will continue judging by what The Brian Kendrick said here. Not only that, he’s looking to regain his Cruiserweight Championship against Rich Swann. Will be interesting what will happen next in this feud, but I’ll guess we’ll find out sooner rather than later. He’s a man with a plan!

Great match and congratulations to Rich Swann for being the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion!

Overall, good show for the first episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
