205 Live 1/3/17 Review: Too Easy… For The King

205 Live on January 3, 2017 was a good show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package showcasing highlights of what happened last week between Rich Swann and Neville. This is good as it lets people know on what happened last week in case people missed it or forgot about it. Well produced video package here.

We received news from Mauro Ranallo, Corey Graves, and Austin Aries that Rich Swann won’t be able to compete tonight due to what happened last week so in the main event of this show, it will be TJ Perkins Vs. Neville. A good way to tell the story of Rich Swann and Neville where I can’t wait to see their match between each other which should be awesome and I’m looking forward to the main event later on the show. Should be good.

Tajiri Vs. Sean Maluta was a good match. Tajiri has made his 205 Live debut! Mark out moment! Also, Sean Maluta has made an appearance on 205 Live! Mark out moment! Tajiri and Sean Maluta have competed in the Cruiserweight Classic and they did well there and now, they’re here in 205 Live where both men did well here.

Sean Maluta did well in this match as he took the fight to the veteran Tajiri. His strikes to Tajiri looked devastating. Tajiri did well in this match too as he showed that he still has it in the ring. His kicks and his handspring back elbow on Sean Maluta were well executed. Good performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Tajiri hit a roundhouse kick on Sean Maluta for the pin and win. A good win for Tajiri in his debut for 205 Live and I hope to see Sean Maluta get signed as he has potential.

After the match, The Brian Kendrick came out and welcomed back Tajiri to the WWE as he said that the two of them were the founders of the Cruiserweight division and they deserve a lot more respect. The Brian Kendrick then extended his hand towards Tajiri where Tajiri shook his hand and spitted out the green mist on The Brian Kendrick’s face as he left the ring smiling.

It seems like we’ll be getting a feud between Tajiri and The Brian Kendrick due to this which should be a fun feud as these two go way back. It will be interesting to see how this feud will go in the future.

Good match and good post-match as I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next in the Tajiri and The Brian Kendrick feud.

The backstage segment with Neville by Dasha Fuentes was good. Neville was walking backstage until Dasha Fuentes came in and interviewed Neville about his match against TJ Perkins. Neville said that TJ Perkins wouldn’t be WWE Cruiserweight Champion in the first place if he was in the division to begin with. He said that people like and respect TJ Perkins along with his struggles, but people disrespect and don’t appreciate his struggles. He then said that he will prove TJ Perkins in the main event that he is the king of the cruiserweights as he left.

It seems like Neville means total business on this show as he’s getting better on the mic ever since he adapted this heel character. Looking forward to his match against TJ Perkins later on the show. Should be good. Good backstage segment here.

We then get a vignette about Tony Nese and it was good. Tony Nese talked about how people want to be him because he’s “The Premiere Athelete” and that he can do it all. He then talked about how he tried so many times to get to the WWE and he finally did it because he thinks that he deserves to be here. He then said that he will be the best cruiserweight wrestler in the world.

This was good as it really shows who Tony Nese is as a character and what his motives are in WWE. Like I said as always. this is something I wish WWE would do more of, but this was good. Good vignette here.

Jack Gallagher Vs. Tony Nese was a good match for what it was. Before the match, we get a recap of what happened last week on Monday Night Raw and 205 Live as Jack Gallagher challenged Ariya Daivari to a duel and they showed highlights of The Gentlemen’s Duel between Jack Gallagher and Ariya Daivari. This was a good way to let people know what happened last week on Monday Night Raw and 205 Live so I was perfectly fine with this. Both men shook hands before the match.

As the match was starting to pick up, Ariya Daivari came in the ring and attacked Jack Gallagher from behind which caused a disqualification as Ariya Daivari took Jack Gallagher down with a couple of strikes, followed by a couple of strikes by putting Jack Gallagher in a tree of woe position, and hitting a low running dropkick on Jack Gallagher as he told Jack Gallagher that he embarrased him as he left the ring.

It seems like Ariya Daivari got some revenge on Jack Gallagher here and sooner or later, these two will clash once again. Looking forward to the next match between the two of them which should be great.

Good match for what it was and I’m looking forward to what’s next in the Jack Gallagher and Ariya Daivari feud.

The backstage segment between Alicia Fox and Cedric Alexander was good. Alicia Fox was apologizing to Cedric Alexander about him losing as of late as she said it was all her fault. Cedric Alexander then told Alicia Fox that it wasn’t her fault and that he feels responsible for his loss and that he wants to keep Alicia Fox safe. They then hugged and kissed each other to make up for it.

It seems like Alicia Fox and Cedric Alexander are back on track on here so good for them. However, I wonder how Noam Dar will react to this. I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Good backstage segment here.

Mustafa Ali Vs. Noam Dar was a great match. Both of these men went out there and delivered a great match where neither man looked weak in the process.

Noam Dar did great in this match as he displayed his in-ring psychology in this match. I love how Noam Dar was working on Mustafa Ali’s arm throughout the whole match to try to make him tap out to the Fujiwara armbar. Great in-ring psychology there. Mustafa Ali did great in this match too as he showed that he earned the respect of the WWE Universe. His Tornado DDT and his rolling through the middle ropes into a jumping neckbreaker were well executed. Great performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Mustafa Ali hit Noam Dar with an inverted 450 splash for the pin and win. A great win for Mustafa Ali as he continued to gain the respect of the WWE Universe. Even though Noam Dar lost here, he looked great in defeat so he had nothing to be ashamed of.

After the match, Dasha Fuentes came into the ring to interview Noam Dar about his loss and Noam Dar said that 2017 is going to be his year as thinks that Cedric Alexander isn’t a man to take care of Alicia Fox, but he is as he left the ring.

It seems like Noam Dar is very confident about himself heading into 2017 as he thinks he will get Alicia Fox to be in his side. It will be interesting where the story between Cedric Alexander, Alicia Fox, and Noam Dar go from here.

Great match and I’m looking forward to what’s next in the Cedric Alexander and Noam Dar feud.

We then get a vignette of Akira Tozawa where Cesaro talked about him as he’s coming to 205 Live soon. Oh my god! Akira Tozawa is coming to 205 Live soon! Mark out moment! For those of you who don’t know, Akira Tozawa is well known for his work in Dragon Gate and he competed in the Cruiserweight Classic so I can’t wait to see his debut in 205 Live soon. Shake it up!

TJ Perkins Vs. Neville was an excellent match. Mark out moment! After what happened between these two as of late, it all led to this match and it was excellent. I also like how Neville got new entrance music to fit his current character so that was a nice touch.

Before the match, Tom Phillips interviewed TJ Perkins backstage on why he challenged Neville. TJ Perkins said that he thinks Neville is great wrestler in the ring, but outside of the ring, he’s nothing, but a bully and he’s going to teach Neville a lesson for his actions.

It seems like TJ Perkins wants to teach Neville a lesson and I don’t blame him due to Neville’s behavior as of late. However, I think that TJ Perkins shouldn’t mess with Neville because Neville might give TJ Perkins a big whooping, but we’ll see. Anyway, let’s talk about the match itself.

TJ Perkins did excellent in this match as he got to showcase his skills in the ring. His wheelbarrow bulldog, hurricanrana, corkscrew plancha, diving crossbody, and his roundhouse kick to Neville were executed perfectly. Excellent performance by TJ Perkins here.

Neville was excellent in this match too as he showed the world why he deserves respect. His front missile dropkick and his bridging German suplex to TJ Perkins were executed perfectly. Neville’s middle rope corksrew 450 splash was beautiful despite missing. Excellent performance by Neville here.

The ending of the match came when Neville hit a superplex on TJ Perkins for the pin and win. Neville is looking strong as he looks to become the next WWE Cruiserweight Champion. Looking forward to his match against Rich Swann for the title when the time comes. He has landed on 205 Live!

Excellent match and I’m looking forward to Rich Swann Vs. Neville for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship down the line.

Overall, good show for the sixth episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
