205 Live 1/24/17 Review: Hatred Begins to Grow

205 Live on January 24, 2017 was a great show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package showcasing highlights of what happened on Monday Night Raw between Rich Swann and Neville. This is good as it lets people know on what happened on Monday Night Raw in case people missed it or forgot about it. Well produced video package here.

The backstage interview with Neville by Tom Phillips was good. Tom Phillips talked to Neville about what happened on Monday Night Raw as Rich Swann got the better of him and Neville responded by saying that Rich Swann got lucky by getting the better of him on Monday Night Raw and that it won’t happen again. Tom Phillips then asked Neville about his opponent later on the show, Cedric Alexander. Neville replied by saying that he’s looking forward to face Cedric Alexander as he will teach him a lesson about respecting the king of the cruiserweights.

Neville is looking ready for his match against Rich Swann for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at the Royal Rumble, but he has to go through Cedric Alexander first before that. Should be a great match between those two. Good backstage interview here.

TJ Perkins Vs. Tony Nese was a great match. Before the match, both men shook hands.

Tony Nese did great in this match as he got to show his hybrid style of wrestling in the ring. His middle rope springboard moonsault and lariat on TJ Perkins in this match looked devastating. TJ Perkins did great in this match too as he’s looking to climb back up the ladder in the Cruiserweight division. His jumping back kick on Tony Nese was well executed. Great performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when TJ Perkins hit a crucifix pin on Tony Nese to get the pin and win. A good win for TJ Perkins as he’s slowly climbing back up in the Cruiserweight division.

After the match, Tony Nese attacked TJ Perkins from behind as he hit a German suplex on TJ Perkins to the turnbuckle followed by a running knee strike to TJ Perkins in the corner. He then went to the commentary table and told them that he won the match as he left.

It seems like we’ll be getting a feud between TJ Perkins and Tony Nese because of this which I’m fine with as both men don’t have feuds at the moment. Tony Nese is making a statement for himself and I’m all for it. Should be a good feud.

Great match and good post-match as I’m interested to see what’s next in this TJ Perkins and Tony Nese feud.

We then get a vignette of Akira Tozawa where Sami Zayn talked about him as he’s coming to 205 Live next week. Can’t wait for the debut of Akira Tozawa next week. Looking forward to it.

We then see TJ Perkins being taken to the back as they showed a replay of what happened between TJ Perkins and Tony Nese earlier in the night. Good to see that TJ Perkins is okay as this is probably the start of the feud between TJ Perkins and Tony Nese.

Tripp Bradshaw Vs. The Brian Kendrick was a good squash match. Before the match, The Brian Kendrick was cutting a promo on Tripp Bradshaw as he was making his way to the ring by saying that he isn’t going to take his spot as this place is a cold-hearten place that Tripp Bradshaw doesn’t even belong here. He then said to Tripp Bradshaw that what he did to Sean Maluta and soon Tajiri when he recovers from injury, he will do the same to him.

The Brian Kendrick is still feeling the effects on what Tajiri did to him a few weeks ago as he’s taking his rage out on everyone he faces in the ring. Either way, this is a good way to build up a feud while Tajiri is out for the moment. Before the match started, both men shook hands.

Tripp Bradshaw did get a little offense in this match, but The Brian Kendrick completely dominated him in this match as he made Tripp Bradshaw tap out to the Captain’s Hook while locking it in a little longer after he tapped out before letting go. A good win for The Brian Kendrick as he’s sending a message to Tajiri once he gets back from injury.

Good squash match and I’m looking forward to see what’s next for The Brian Kendrick until Tajiri comes back from injury.

The backstage segment between Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann was good. Cedric Alexander was warming up backstage until Rich Swann came in and told Cedric Alexander that he wishes him luck against Neville. Cedric Alexander then asked Rich Swann if he has any advice for him as Rich Swann told Cedric Alexander that he needs to be ready for anything. Rich Swann then told Cedric Alexander to save Neville for him at the Royal Rumble as Cedric Alexander agreed.

It seems like Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann are ready to give Neville a beating which should be interesting to see. Cedric Alexander and Neville should be a great match. Good backstage segment here.

Cedric Alexander Vs. Neville was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Before the match, Cedric Alexander extended his hand towards Neville, but Neville refused to shake his hand. Very reasonable for Neville to not shake Cedric Alexander’s hand as he’s a friend of Rich Swann and thinks unhighly of him so that was good to see.

Cedric Alexander did excellent in this match as he proved that he can hang with the top guys in the Cruiserweight division. His dropkick, punt kick, somersault dive, springboard clothesline, and standing moonsault side slam on Neville were executed perfectly. An excellent performance from Cedric Alexander here.

Neville did excellent in this match too as he is getting ready for his match against Rich Swann for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at the Royal Rumble. His missile dropkick, forearm smash, and deadlift bridging German suplex were done beautifully. An excellent performance by Neville here.

The ending of the match came when Cedric Alexander was about to hit another springboard clothesline on Neville, but Noam Dar came to distract Cedric Alexander, but Cedric Alexander took him out with a clothesline on the outside. Cedric Alexander then tried to go for the springboard clothesline again on Neville, but Cedric Alexander tripped as Neville locked in the double underhook crossface on Cedric Alexander as Cedric Alexander tapped out. A great win for Neville as he took advantage of the opportunity that Noam Dar gave him.

After the match, Noam Dar told Neville to help him beat up Cedric Alexander, but Neville tossed Noam Dar out of the ring as he attacked Cedric Alexander by himself. Rich Swann then came into the ring as he began to brawl with Neville. Noam Dar then went back into the ring to brawl with Cedric Alexander, but Cedric Alexander tossed him out of the ring as they both brawled on the outside. Rich Swann and Neville were brawling in the ring until security and more referees came in, but Rich Swann and Neville still went at it as the show ends.

A good way to build up both feuds at the same time as they’re getting pretty personal between both of the feuds. Looking forward to Cedric Alexander Vs. Noam Dar when that match happens and Rich Swann Vs. Neville for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at the WWE Royal Rumble.

Excellent match and great post-match as I’m looking forward to both matches down the line.

Overall, great show for the ninth episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
