NXT on January 25, 2017 was a good show that is building up NXT San Antonio this week. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with Tom Phillips, Corey Graves, and Percy Watson announcing that Asuka, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and Nikki Cross will confront each other later on the show. This is good as it helps build up the NXT Women’s Championship match at NXT San Antonio later on the show which should be good. Looking forward to seeing what Asuka, Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, and Nikki Cross will do with each other once they meet in the ring again.

Ember Moon Vs. Liv Morgan was a good women’s match. After the backstage segment they had last week, it led to this match and it was a good match as both women tried to prove that they should be the next #1 Contender for the NXT Women’s Championship.

Liv Morgan did well in this match as she got to showcase her skills in the ring. Her tilt-a-whirl headscissors and guillotine choke on Ember Moon were well executed and applied. Ember Moon did well in this match as she continued to prove that she’s a dominant force in the NXT women’s division. The way she tossed Liv Morgan out of the ring when Liv Morgan was locking her in with a guillotine choke was impressive. Good performances by both women here.

The ending of the match came when Ember Moon hit a diving corkscrew stunner on Liv Morgan for the pin and win. A good win for Ember Moon as she looks to become the next contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. She then shook hands with Liv Morgan after the match so a great show of sportsmanship there.

Good women’s match as I’m interested to see what’s next for Ember Moon and Liv Morgan in NXT.

The backstage segment between Andrade “Cien” Almas and Roderick Strong by Kayla Braxton was good. Kayla Braxton was interviewing Andrade “Cien” Almas about his match against Roderick Strong at NXT San Antonio as Andrade “Cien” Almas said that he will kick Roderick Strong in the face. Roderick Strong then arrived and told Andrade “Cien” Almas to kick him in the face right now. Andrade “Cien” Almas smiled at Roderick Strong while walking away until he came back and attacked Roderick Strong. He then left Roderick Strong being laid out.

This was a good way to build up Roderick Strong Vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas at NXT San Antonio which should be a great match. I felt like both men needed a win in this match as both men are slowly climbing up in the NXT Championship picture so whoever wins this match will get one step closer in the NXT Championship picture. Good backstage segment here.

Just a reminder that Square Hammer by Ghost is a theme for NXT San Antonio and it’s a good song. NXT San Antonio is this week and I can’t wait to see it. Should be a great show.

We then see a video package hyping up #DIY Vs. Authors of Pain at NXT San Antonio for the NXT Tag Team Championships. This was good as it helps build up the match between #DIY and Authors of Pain at NXT San Antonio which should be a great tag team match. Do It Yourself!

No Way Jose Vs. Kona Reeves was a good match. After the backstage segment they had last week, it led to this match and it was good as both men got to show their characters in the ring.

Kona Reeves did well here as he got to showcase his character in the ring. The way he stand on No Way Jose while doing the surfing pose was cool and his Samoan Drop on No Way Jose looked good. No Way Jose did well in this match too as he also got to showcase his character in the ring. No Way Jose was being No Way Jose here so it’s nothing unusual. Good performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when No Way Jose hit a pop-up knockout punch on Kona Reeves for the pin and win. A good win for No Way Jose as he broke his losing streak since the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. No Way Jose!

After the match, Dasha Fuentes was about to interview No Way Jose about his win until Elias Samson came from the ramp as he sang a song about No Way Jose. No Way Jose then interrupted Elias Samson’s singing as he said the song sucked and that he has a better song for him as he sang just drift away which Elias Samson pissed off as he tried to enter the ring, but Elias Samson punched him as Elias Samson retreated.

Hey! No Way Jose, how dare you interrupt Elias Samson’s song! Show some respect! I know he was talking about bad things about you, but come on, let the guy finish. In all seriousness, this will probably lead to a feud between No Way Jose and Elias Samson down the line. I don’t know if it will happen at NXT San Antonio, but I could see it take place at the TV taping at NXT San Antonio, but we’ll see.

Good match and good post-match as I’m interested to see what’s next in this No Way Jose and Elias Samson feud.

Just a reminder that This Light I Hold by Memphis May Fire is a theme for NXT San Antonio and it’s a good song. NXT San Antonio is this week and I can’t wait to see it. Should be a great show.

Chris Atkins Vs. Eric Young was a good squash match. Before the match, we saw an WWE.com exclusive as Andrea D’Marco was interviewing Tye Dillinger about the attack from SAnitY as Tye Dillinger said that SAnitY will always be with Eric Young and that at NXT San Antonio, he will defeat Eric Young. I don’t know if what Tye Dillinger said will work, but he’s looking to take out Eric Young regardless. Good to see what Tye Dillinger has to say about Eric Young before their match at NXT San Antonio. Anyway, back to the match itself.

Chris Atkins got an awesome theme, however, he didn’t get to do much against Eric Young as Eric Young finished Chris Atkins off with the wheelbarrow position transitioned into an elevated neckbreaker for the pin and win. A good win for Eric Young as he plans to take out Tye Dillinger at NXT San Antonio.

After the match, Eric Young cut a promo by saying that Tye Dillinger made the wrong choice last week for not joining SAnitY as Killian Dain (Big Damo) hit a running senton on Chris Atkins.

It seems like Big Damo will now go by Killian Dain in NXT which isn’t a bad name, but I don’t know if it will fit his character. However, it might grow on me, we’ll see. Either way, Eric Young is looking destroy Tye Dillinger at NXT San Antonio. Should be a good match between the two.

Good squash match and good post-match as I’m looking forward to Tye Dillinger Vs. Eric Young at NXT San Antonio.

We then get a recap of what happened last week as The Revival took out TM-61 after their match. It was then reported that Shane Thorne will be out of action for seven to nine months due to a knee injury. A shame that Shane Thorne is going to be out for a while as I was looking forward to the feud between TM-61 and The Revival. I wonder what happens for Nick Miller now since Shane Thorne is out, will he go on a singles run? Either way, I wish Shane Thorne a speedy recovery.

We then see a video package hyping up Shinsuke Nakamura Vs. Bobby Roode at NXT San Antonio for the NXT Tag Team Championship. This was good as it helps build up the match between Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode at NXT San Antonio which should be a great match. YeaOh! Glorious!

Just a reminder that Monster by Sunset is a theme for NXT San Antonio and it’s a good song. NXT San Antonio is this week and I can’t wait to see it. Should be a great show.

The segment between Billie Kay, Peyton Royce, Nikki Cross, and Asuka by William Regal and Dasha Fuentes was great. William Regal and Dasha Fuentes were in the ring as William Regal invited the women in the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT San Antonio to come to the ring as Dasha Fuentes was introducing them.

Billie Kay and Peyton Royce came out first as the crowd was chanting “Asuka’s gonna kill you!” towards them as Peyton Royce told them no. Billie Kay then said that they’re going to prove that they run the NXT women’s division at NXT San Antonio. Peyton Royce then said that Nikki Cross is crazy and Billie Kay said that Nikki Cross and Asuka can’t beat them.

Nikki Cross then came out to the ring as she stared at Billie Kay and Peyton Royce where Billie Kay and Peyton Royce told her to step back. Asuka then came in as she ran down to the ring to try to get to Billie Kay and Peyton Royce, but they retreated from the ring. Asuka and Nikki Cross were standing off in the middle of the ring nose-to-nose until Billie Kay and Peyton Royce attacked them from behind until Asuka and Nikki Cross took them out of the ring as they stared off again.

Security then came in to try to break up Asuka and Nikki Cross, but Asuka and Nikki Cross ended up taking out the security guards in the process. Asuka then hit Nikki Cross with a spinning heel kick to take her out momentarily as the security got Asuka’s foot as they tried to hold her down.

Nikki Cross then went up to the top rope and hit a diving crossbody on Asuka and the security guard out on the floor! Mark out moment! Didn’t expect Nikki Cross to do that, that was awesome. Nikki Cross is normally not a high-flyer so seeing her do that was sweet.

As Nikki Cross, Asuka, and the security guards were on the ramp being knocked out, Billie Kay and Peyton Royce were looking at them from the ramp as the show closes.

A really good way to end the show as they help build up Asuka Vs. Billie Kay Vs. Peyton Royce Vs. Nikki Cross at NXT San Antonio for the NXT Women’s Championship. Looking forward to that match as it should be great.

Great segment as I’m looking forward to Asuka Vs. Billie Kay Vs. Peyton Royce Vs. Nikki Cross at NXT San Antonio for the NXT Women’s Championship.

Overall, good show that is building up NXT San Antonio this week. Next week, we are going to have the fallout of NXT San Antonio which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
