NXT 2/8/17 Review: Perfect Ten Down, SAnitY Rises

on

NXT on February 8, 2017 was a good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with Bollywood Boyz Vs. SAnitY and it was a good tag team squash match. The new commentary team of NXT now consists of Tom Phillips, Percy Watson, and Nigel McGuinness! Mark out moment for Nigel McGuinness for officially being a part of the NXT commentary team! Great to see Nigel McGuinness in NXT as he will call the action in NXT and I have to say that he did pretty well for himself here so good for Nigel McGuinness and welcome to the NXT family.

Also, Bollywood Boyz are back in NXT! Mark out moment! Great to see Bollywood Boyz back in NXT again since the last time we saw them in NXT was at the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic so seeing them here again is great. In addition, Killian Dain has made his NXT in-ring debut! Mark out moment! Great to see Killian Dain finally in action in NXT and trust me, he’s a guy to watch as he’s very athletic for a man his size so keep an eye out for him. Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe were representing SAnitY in this match.

Bollywood Boyz got a little bit of offense in this match, but the power of Killian Dain was too much for them as Killian Dain took on Bollywood Boyz all by himself as he got the win for his team by hitting Ulster Plantation (One-handed electric chair driver) on Harv Sihra to get the pin. A good showcase for Killian Dain here as he got to show his strength and agility in this match.

After the match, Nikki Cross cut a promo by saying that she wants Asuka as she goes crazy in the corner. Eric Young then cut a promo by saying that everyone eventually find their place and those who don’t, SAnitY will put them in their place. He then said that he has pummelled Tye Dillinger and Tye Dillinger belongs to SAnitY.

SAnitY has been on a roll as of late and their stock will continue to rise in the ranks of NXT. It seems like the feud between Tye Dillinger and SAnitY is far from over and I’m interested to see what they do next in this feud.

Good tag team squash match and good post-match as I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next in this Tye Dillinger and SAnitY feud.

Liv Morgan Vs. Billie Kay was a good women’s match. Both of these women went out there and delivered a good match where neither woman looked weak in the process.

Billie Kay did well in this match as she got to showcase her skills in the ring. Her inverted stomp facebreaker and clothesline on Liv Morgan looked devastating. Liv Morgan did well in this match as she was trying to prove that she can be a future NXT Women’s Champion. The way she used the ropes to do a headscissors on Billie Kay was extremely well done. Good performances by both women here.

The ending of the match came when Peyton Royce got on the ropes to try to help Billie Kay, but Liv Morgan pushed Billie Kay towards Peyton Royce where she fell off as Liv Morgan hit a Bridging O’Connor roll on Billie Kay for the pin and win. A nice way for Liv Morgan as she’s looking to become the next #1 Contender for the NXT Women’s Championship where the plan from Billie Kay and Peyton Royce backfired on them.

Good women’s match and I’m interested to see what’s next for Liv Morgan, Billie Kay, and Peyton Royce on NXT.

The segment between Tye Dillinger, No Way Jose, Roderick Strong, and SAnitY was good. Andrea D’Marco was interviewing Tye Dillinger backstage about Eric Young’s words from earlier where Tye Dillinger replied by saying that he will not join SAnitY. As he was about to continue, SAnitY attacked Tye Dillinger from behind where they began to brawl from the backstage area into the ring.

Tye Dillinger then got the upper hand on SAnitY for a little bit before the numbers game got to him. No Way Jose and Roderick Strong then showed up to take out SAnitY as Roderick Strong hit a high knee followed by a knockout punch from No Way Jose, and a superkick from Tye Dillinger to take out Killian Dain from the ring as they stood tall in the ring.

It seems like because of this, we’re going to get ourselves a six man tag team match in the future which should be fun to watch. Looking forward to the match when it happens.

Good segment as I’m looking forward to Tye Dillinger, No Way Jose, and Roderick Strong Vs. SAnitY down the road.

The backstage segment between William Regal, Billie Kay, and Peyton Royce was good. We see William Regal in his office as he announced that next week, it will be Tyler Bate Vs. Trent Seven for the WWE United Kingdom Championship. Billie Kay and Peyton Royce then came in as they complain to William Regal about Liv Morgan beating Billie Kay earlier in the show. Peyton Royce said that what Liv Morgan did to Billie Kay was illegal and Billie Kay wants a rematch against her next week.

William Regal then had an idea and told Billie Kay and Peyton Royce that next week, it will be them Vs. Liv Morgan and a partner of her choosing as Billie Kay and Peyton Royce laughed as they said that Liv Morgan doesn’t have any friends.

Oh my god, we’re going to have Tyler Bate Vs. Trent Seven for the WWE United Kingdom Championship next week! Mark out moment! That should be a great match and I’m looking forward to it.

Also, I don’t know if Billie Kay and Peyton Royce should be laughing at that as the last time Liv Morgan got a partner against them, they won. We’ll see who Liv Morgan choose as her partner as I think it will be either Aliyah or Ember Moon which should be a good women’s tag team match. Good backstage segment here.

We then get a recap of what happened at NXT San Antonio where Shinsuke Nakamura suffered a knee injury as we got news that Shinsuke Nakamura’s knee is fine and that he does not need surgery. Great to hear that Shinsuke Nakamura is okay and that he’ll be back soon which is great. I expect a rematch between Bobby Roode and Shinsuke Nakamura at NXT Orlando for the NXT Championship, but we’ll see.

Heavy Machinery Vs. The Revival was a great tag team match. Great to see Heavy Machinery back in NXT as their first appearance as a tag team took place at the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic so seeing them here was great.

Heavy Machinery did great in this match as they got to showcase their chemistry in the ring. The way that Tucker Knight had a bearhug on Dash Wilder where he tagged in Otis Dozovic as he tossed Dash Wilder to Otis Dozovic as Otis Dozovic had Dash Wilder in the bearhug. That was very innovative there. The Revival was great as always as there were being their usual selves here in this match. The heel tactics from The Revival with the poke to the eyes is always great to see as that’s being a great heel there. Great performances by both teams here.

The ending of the match came when Scott Dawson hit a snap DDT on Tucker Knight for the pin and win. Even though Heavy Machinery lost here, they looked great in defeat and I can see them being big threats to the NXT tag team division down the road.

After the match, The Revival cut a promo as Dash Wilder said that they are the greatest tag team in the world today as they are the NXT Tag Team of the Year in 2016. Scott Dawson then trashed the fans for cheering for them as he said that #DIY should have never been NXT Tag Team Champions because at NXT San Antonio, they lost to Authors of Pain. He then said that The Revival are the Mercedes-Benz of the tag team division and they are the best on this planet.

Authors of Pain then came out to the ring with Paul Ellering as The Revival left the ring to back out. Authors of Pain and Paul Ellering went back up on the rap as they pose with their titles until The Revival attacked them from behind and they ran off with Authors of Pain looking pissed as Paul Ellering tried to calm them down.

It seems like Authors of Pain Vs. The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Championships will be the next feud heading into NXT Orlando. For me, I’m not really sure about the match since it’s heel against heel and those dynamics usually don’t work well. However, I’m willing to see how this feud will go before I give further judgement on it.

Great tag team match and good post-match as I’m interested to see what NXT will do with the Authors of Pain and The Revival feud.

We then get a vignette about Tyler Bate and it was good. It was the same vignette on Tyler Bate from the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament which I will have reviews of those soon so check that out once it’s up. Looking forward to seeing Tyler Bate on NXT next week. Should be great.

The promo segment from Bobby Roode was great. Bobby Roode told the crowd that he told them so as he told the NXT Universe as he was going to beat Shinsuke Nakamura for the NXT Championship at NXT San Antonio and he did. He then talked about how Shinsuke Nakamura was the man in Japan and when he was in NXT, he defeated guys like Sami Zayn, Finn Balor, and Samoa Joe, but he couldn’t beat him. He survived the Kinshasa from Shinsuke Nakamura as he still stood tall in the end after being kicked in the face.

Bobby Roode then said that the greatest moment in NXT happened at NXT San Antonio as he is the current NXT Champion. He then said that NXT is no longer “We Are NXT”, but now, it’s his NXT and his NXT will be glorious as smoke screens began streaming down as he posed in the ring with his championship.

Bobby Roode did great here as he got his point across very well and he made very valid points. With Shinsuke Nakamura being recovered from his injury, I expect we’ll get Bobby Roode Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the NXT Championship at NXT Orlando which should be an excellent match when it happens and it will be glorious!

Great promo segment as I can’t wait to see who will face Bobby Roode next for the NXT Championship.

We then get a vignette about Trent Seven and it was good. It was the same vignette on Trent Seven from the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament which I will have reviews of those soon so check that out once it’s up. Looking forward to seeing Trent Seven on NXT next week. Should be great.

We then get a reminder that next week, it will be Tyler Bate Vs. Trent Seven for the WWE United Kingdom Championship. It’s cool to see NXT hyping this match as it should be a great match between the two and I’m looking forward to it when it happens.

Tye Dillinger, No Way Jose & Roderick Strong Vs. SAnitY was a great six man tag team match. After what happened earlier in the show with these six men, it led to this match and it was great as everyone in this match got a chance to shine.

Tye Dillinger, No Way Jose & Roderick Strong did great in this match as they all got their spots in within the match itself. Roderick Strong showcased his skills in the ring, No Way Jose showcased his character and charisma in the ring, and Tye Dillinger showcased his in-ring ability, character, and charisma in the ring as well. Great performances by all three men here.

SAnitY did great in this match too as they were trying to prove a point that they are the most dangerous guys in NXT at the moment. The dynamic between Eric Young, Killian Dain, and Alexander Wolfe was great as they got to showcase their characters and their wrestling in the ring. Great performance from SAnitY here.

The ending of the match came when Killian Dain was distracting the referee for Tye Dillinger to hit Eric Young with the Tye Breaker, but Nikki Cross went up to the top rope as she hit a diving hurricanrana on Tye Dillinger to throw him out of the ring which led to Killian Dain hitting a running crossbody on Roderick Strong where Eric Young pin Roderick Strong for the win. A great win for SAnitY as they continued the momentum that they had for the past few months. It will be interesting to see if the feud between Tye Dillinger and SAnitY feud will continue or not, but we’ll see.

Great six man tag team match and I’m interested to see what’s next for Tye Dillinger, No Way Jose, Roderick Strong, and SAnitY in NXT.

Overall, good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Next week, we are going to have Liv Morgan and a partner of her choosing Vs. Billie Kay & Peyton Royce and Tyler Bate Vs. Trent Seven for the WWE United Kingdom Championship which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
