NXT on February 22, 2017 was a great show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Let’s break it down:

Before the show started, they showed a display of George “The Animal” Steele who has passed away last week. Very nice for NXT to do that as George “The Animal” Steele is a legend in the wrestling industry and he will be dearly missed. Thank you George “The Animal” Steele for what you have done in wrestling and rest in peace.

We start off the show with a video package hyping up Ember Moon Vs. Liv Morgan Vs. Peyton Royce in a #1 Contender’s match for the NXT Women’s Championship later on the show. This is good as it’s hyping up the match on the show which should be a good match. Well produced video package here.

Ember Moon Vs. Liv Morgan Vs. Peyton Royce in a #1 Contender’s match for the NXT Women’s Championship was good. After the announcement William Regal made last week, it led to this match and all three women did well in this match as they tried to become the #1 Contender for the NXT Women’s Championship.

Liv Morgan did well in this match as she got to showcase her skills in the ring. Her tilt-a-whirl headscissors on Ember Moon was well executed. Ember Moon did well in this match too as she’s looking to become the #1 Contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. Her diving corkscrew stunner on Billie Kay to make sure that she doesn’t interfere in the match is always nice to see. Peyton Royce did well in this match as she tried to Ember Moon so she can work on Liv Morgan throughout the entire match.

There was a spot in the match where Ember Moon hit a sunset flip powerbomb onto Peyton Royce as Peyton Royce hit a superplex on Liv Morgan which was pretty cool to see. Good performances by all three women here.

The ending of the match came when Peyton Royce hit a bridging fisherman suplex on Liv Morgan for the pin and win. Great to see Peyton Royce getting a win in this match as she looks on to face Asuka for the NXT Women’s Championship next week. Should be a great match between the both of them and I’m looking forward to it.

Good women’s match and I can’t wait to see Asuka Vs. Peyton Royce for the NXT Women’s Championship next week.

We then get a vignette about Mark Andrews and it was good. He talked about how he wants to represent Wales in wrestling and that he wants to make Wales proud. It was the same vignette of Mark Andrews from the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament. However, it was still good as it shows who Mark Andrews is as a character and so forth. Good vignette here.

We then get a vignette about Pete Dunne and it was good. He talked about how he likes to beat people up and that he’s here to make a name for himself. It was the same vignette of Pete Dunne from the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament. However, it was still good as it shows who Pete Dunne is as a character and so forth. Good vignette here.

We then get a vignette on Kassius Ohno and that he would make his return to NXT very soon. I can’t wait to see the return of NXT as it’s been over three years since we last saw Kassius Ohno in the NXT ring so I’m looking forward to his return. When you see Kassius coming, you say Ohno!

We then get a recap of Shinsuske Nakamura training in the Performance Center and that he will be returning to the ring soon. Great to hear that Shinsuke Nakamura will be making his return to the ring soon as I expect Shinsuke Nakamura will try to get his revenge on Bobby Roode soon and I can’t wait to see that match again when it happens. YeaOh!

Mark Andrews Vs. Pete Dunne was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Not only that, Mark Andrews and Pete Dunne have made their debuts for NXT! Mark out moment for both! Before the match, both men shook hands.

Mark Andrews did excellent in this match as he tried to avenge his loss to Pete Dunne from the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament. His standing moonsault into an arm drag to Pete Dunne was amazingly executed. His reverse hurricanrana and the way he countered Pete Dunne’s release rolling suplex into a stunner were beautifully executed.

Pete Dunne did excellent in this match too as he tried to make a name for himself. His forearm smashes to Mark Andrews looked devastating. Not only that, his rolling release suplex on Mark Andrews on the ring apron looked painful as heck.

There was one point in the match where I thought it was over when Mark Andrews reversed Pete Dunne’s rolling release suplex into a hurricanrana pin and Pete Dunne kicked out of it which was very impressive. Excellent performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Pete Dunne hit Mark Andrews with the Bitter End (Pumphandle lift dropped into a reverse STO) for the pin and win. This match wasn’t as excellent as their match from the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament, but it was still excellent in its own right. They shook hands after the match which was nice to see. Hope to see more WWE UK stars in NXT in the future.

Excellent match and I hope to see Mark Andrews and Pete Dunne again in NXT in the near future.

The backstage interview with Peyton Royce and Billie Kay by Kayla Braxton was good. Kayla Braxton asked Peyton Royce and Billie Kay about Peyton Royce’s win earlier in the show as Peyton Royce and Billie Kay said that it wasn’t for Nikki Cross, Peyton Royce would have been NXT Women’s Champion at NXT San Antonio. Peyton Royce then said that she will win the NXT Women’s Championship next week as she and Billie Kay left.

It seems like Peyton Royce is very confident that she can beat Asuka next week for the NXT Women’s Championship next week, but I question if she can beat her for the title. We’ll see next week. Good backstage interview here.

We then get a vignette on Patrick Clark and that he will make his re-debut on NXT next week. It’s cool to see that Patrick Clark got a vignette and that NXT are focusing on him next week. Looking forward to his re-debut on NXT next week.

We then get an announcement that next week, it will be Asuka Vs. Peyton Royce for the NXT Women’s Championship and Authors of Pain Vs. #DIY for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Should be great matches and I’m looking forward to them.

We then get a WWE.com exclusive with Tye Dillinger by Kayla Braxton which was good. Tye Dillinger went inside the Performance Center until he bumped into Kayla Braxton where she asked Tye Dillinger about SAnitY’s twisted agenda about taking him on as a member. Tye Dillinger responded by saying that he was grateful that No Way Jose and Roderick Strong came to his aid and if SAnitY wants to keep coming at him, he got support. He then said that SAnitY is not his agenda as he left.

It seems like Tye Dillinger has some other business to take care of, but still haven’t forgotten about SAnitY. It seems like this feud will continue which I don’t mind as it has been a good feud so far with some good matches. Looking forward to seeing what’s next in this storyline/feud. Ten!

No Way Jose Vs. Bobby Roode was a great match. Both of these men went out there and delivered a great match where neither man looked weak in the process.

No Way Jose did great in this match as he got to showcase his charisma and skills in the ring. The way he countered Bobby Roode’s lariat into a full nelson slam was well executed and his knockout punch on Bobby Roode when Bobby Roode tried to hit a diving double axe handle looked devastating. Bobby Roode did great in this match as well as he got to showcase his charisma and skills in the ring too. The interaction between him and No Way Jose was hiliarious especially when No Way Jose did the wave on Bobby Roode where Bobby Roode reacted. Not only that, his Glorious pose is always great. Great performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Bobby Roode hit the Glorious DDT (Lifting DDT) on No Way Jose for the pin and win. Even though No Way Jose lost here, he looked great in defeat and he put up a great fight with Bobby Roode in this match so he had nothing to be ashamed of.

After the match, Bobby Roode attacked No Way Jose’s leg from behind and delivered a single leg Boston Crab on No Way Jose while driving his knee on No Way Jose’s head.

Kassius Ohno then came into the ring to stop Bobby Roode! Mark out moment! Didn’t expect Kassius Ohno to return on this show so it was surprising for me to see him here which was great. Bobby Roode then left the ring once Kassius Ohno got in the ring.

Bobby Roode then got on the mic and asked Kassius Ohno who he is coming down to the ring and interrupting him. Kassius Ohno then told Bobby Roode that the crowd knows who he is and Bobby Roode knows who he is too as he’s someone that you shouldn’t mess with. Kassius Ohno said that anything he has ever wanted, he has taken it and he has unfinished business since the last time he was on NXT and that was the NXT Championship.

Bobby Roode then told Kassius Ohno that his story was sad and real heart-wrenching. He then told Kassius Ohno that they don’t have to wait and they could fight right now as he told Kassius Ohno to take his jacket off. Kassius Ohno then took off his jacket in the corner as Bobby Roode hit Kassius Ohno from behind as he attacked Kassius Ohno’s leg. Bobby Roode then tried to do the same thing to Kassius Ohno to what he did to No Way Jose earlier, but then Kassius Ohno fought back with elbow smashes before clotheslining Bobby Roode out of the ring as both men stared at each other.

It seems like we’re going to get a future match between Bobby Roode and Kassius Ohno for the NXT Championship in the near future. It should be a great match when it happens and I’m looking forward to it. When you see Kassius coming, you say Ohno! Glorious!

Great match and great post-match as I’m looking forward to Bobby Roode Vs. Kassius Ohno for the NXT Championship down the line.

Overall, great show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Next week, we are going to have the re-debut of Patrick Clark, Asuka Vs. Peyton Royce for the NXT Women’s Championship, and Authors of Pain Vs. #DIY for the NXT Tag Team Championships which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
