NXT 3/1/17 Review: Shatter Machine

NXT on March 1, 2017 was a great show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package hyping up Asuka Vs. Peyton Royce for the NXT Women’s Championship and Authors of Pain Vs. #DIY for the NXT Tag Team Championships later on the show. This is good as it’s hyping up the matches on the show which should be a good match. Well produced video package here.

Sean Maluta Vs. Patrick Clark was a good match. Patrick Clark has made his re-debut on NXT! Mark out moment! It’s great to see Patrick Clark and this new gimmick of his is quite interesting as well. Not only that, Sean Maluta made an appearance on NXT! Mark out moment! Great to see Sean Maluta on NXT and I hope NXT signs him in the future as he has a lot of potential.

Before the match even started, Sean Maluta offered his hand towards Patrick Clark, but Patrick Clark started to pose and pushed Sean Maluta away as Sean Maluta attacked Patrick Clark after being pushed by him. Nice show of character from Patrick Clark here as that was nice to see.

Sean Maluta did well in this match as he got some offense on Patrick Clark. His spinning wheel kick was well executed and his chops to Patrick Clark looked painful as heck. Patirck Clark did well in this match as he got to showcase his character and charisma in the ring. The way he always did his pose was quite entertaining so I appreciated that a lot. Good performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Patrick Clark hit a leg drop bulldog on Sean Maluta for the pin and win. Very well executed leg drop bulldog from Patrick Clark here as he got the win in style. It will be interesting to see what Patrick Clark does next with this character.

Good match as I’m interested to see what’s next for Patrick Clark in NXT and NXT, please sign Sean Maluta!

We then see #DIY warming up backstage as they’re getting ready for their match against Authors of Pain later on the show. This is good as it shows that #DIY are here and they’re ready for action. Looking forward to Authors of Pain Vs. #DIY for the NXT Tag Team Championships. Should be great.

The segment with SAnitY was great. SAnitY were outside near a trash can that was on fire as Eric Young talked about how he knows Tye Dillinger’s fate and that Tye Dillinger was a disease that needs to be eradicated. Eric Young then said that he’ll be the one to do it for Tye Dillinger, he and him alone. Nikki Cross then said that otherwise, they’re going to have to burn down the whole world.

I like how this segment is pretty different than any other segment NXT has done in a quite a while as SAnitY was outside opposed to being backstage so that was nice to see. Not only that, it seems like SAnitY wants to end Tye Dillinger once and for all. It will be interesting to see how Tye Dillinger will respond to SAnitY. Great segment here.

Asuka Vs. Peyton Royce for the NXT Women’s Championship was a great match. I like how before the match, we got the formal in-ring introductions which makes the match and the championship more important so I appreciated that a lot.

Peyton Royce did great in this match as she did everything she could to take down Asuka. The way she worked on Asuka’s arm throughout the match was great in-ring psychology there and her spinning heel kick on Asuka was beautifully executed as well. Asuka did great in this match as she showed the world why she has yet to be beaten in NXT. Her hip attacks on Peyton Royce were fun to watch and her shining wizard on Peyton Royce looked like it hurts. Great performances by both women here.

The ending of the match came when Asuka locked in Peyton Royce with the Asuka Lock (Crossface chickenwing with bodyscissors) to make Peyton Royce tap out to retain her NXT Women’s Championship. Even though Peyton Royce lost in this match, she looked great in defeat so she has nothing to be ashamed of as Asuka continues her reign as NXT Women’s Champion.

After the match, Billie Kay attacked Asuka where Peyton Royce joined in the fray. They were about to break Asuka’s arm until Ember Moon came in to take out Billie Kay and Peyton Royce. Ember Moon then showed a grin towards Asuka as Asuka showed a grin towards Ember Moon as both women stand off as Asuka raised her NXT Women’s Championship high and Ember Moon stared at her as Asuka left the ring.

Is it possible we’re going to get Asuka Vs. Ember Moon for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Orlando? If so, that would be amazing if it happens as it’s a dream match of mine that I want to see happen and I’ll be looking forward to that match when it does.

Great match and hope to see Asuka Vs. Ember Moon for the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Orlando.

We then get a recap of what happened at NXT San Antonio as Kassius Ohno visited Shinsuke Nakamura after he was injured in his match against Bobby Roode. We then get a recap of what happened last week when Bobby Roode and Kassius Ohno confront each other. This is good as it shows what happened at NXT San Antonio and last week in case people missed it or forgot about it. Not only that, it ties in to the next segment which is an announcement.

We then get an announcement from William Regal from his office saying that in two weeks, it will be Bobby Roode Vs. Kassius Ohno for the NXT Championship at the CFE Arena. Awesome news from William Regal there as I’m looking forward to Bobby Roode Vs. Kassius Ohno for the NXT Championship in two weeks which should be a great match. Looking forward to it.

We then see Paul Ellering psyching up Authors of Pain backstage before their NXT Tag Team Championship match which will happen next. This is good as it shows that Paul Ellering and the Authors of Pain are here and they’re ready to defend the NXT Tag Team Champioships. Should be a great tag team match. Looking forward to it.

We then get a vignette about Wolfgang and it was good. Wolfgang talked about how it was his dream to be in WWE and that he had worked hard to get to this point. He then said that he would do whatever it takes to win a match whether it’s clean or dirty. It’s basically the same vignette from the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament, but it was still good. It seems like Wolfgang will be making his debut for NXT soon and when that time comes, I can’t wait. Looking forward to it.

We then get an announcement that next week, Shinsuke Nakamura will make his return to NXT after his injury at NXT San Antonio. Can’t wait to see Shinsuke Nakamura return to NXT after his injury. Looking forward to it. YeaOh!

Authors of Pain Vs. #DIY for the NXT Tag Team Championships was a great tag team match. Just like with the NXT Women’s Championship, we get the formal in-ring introductions for the NXT Tag Team Championship match which was nice to see as it shows that the match and the championships are important so I appreciated that a lot.

#DIY did great in this match as they tried everything it takes to regain their NXT Tag Team Championships. Tommaso Ciampa‘s strikes towards Rezar were cool to see despite not doing much damage to Rezar. Johnny Gargano‘s suicide dive on Rezar and his slingshot DDT on Akam were well executed. Their double one arm powerbomb on Rezar was beautifully done. Authors of Pain did great in this match as well as they continue their dominance in the NXT tag team division. Their sidewalk slam/diving single foot stomp on Tommaso Ciampa was well executed. Great performances by both teams here.

The match never had an end as The Revival came in and attacked #DIY and Authors of Pain to cause a no contest in the match. They send Johnny Gargano through the ring post and hit Tommaso Ciampa with the Shatter Machine. Rezar then hit a double clothesline on The Revival to take them out as Authors of Pain were setting up Scott Dawson for the Last Chapter until Dash Wilder lowered the ring ropes to make Rezar go to the outside as The Revival hit the Shatter Machine on Akam as they retreated from the ring. Paul Ellering then yelled at The Revival that they will pay for what they have done as The Revival retreated to the ramp.

It’s interesting to see that The Revival got involved and they were standing tall in the end of the segment so they looked great here. It seems like we’re going to get Authors of Pain Vs. #DIY Vs. The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Championships at NXT Orlando which I’m fine with as that should be a great tag team match. Looking forward to it if it happens. Top guys out!

Great match and great post-match as I hope to see Authors of Pain Vs. #DIY Vs. The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Championships at NXT Orlando.

Overall, great show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Next week, we are going to have the return of Shinsuke Nakamura in the ring which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
