NXT 3/15/17 Review: Ohno, NXT Orlando is Going to Become Glorious

NXT on March 15, 2017 was a good show that is building up NXT Orlando in two weeks. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package hyping up Bobby Roode Vs. Kassius Ohno for the NXT Championship later on the show. This is good as it’s hyping up the championship match later on the show which should be a great match. Well produced video package here.

The Ealy Brothers Vs. Authors of Pain was a good tag team squash match. Before the match, The Ealy Brothers had a promo earlier in the show by saying that blood is thicker than what the Authors of Pain have together and they will regret taking them out last week. I like how they’re giving some promo time for The Ealy Brothers as it shows who they are as characters and so forth so I appreciated that a lot.

The Ealy Brothers did get some offense in this match, but they weren’t enough to take down Authors of Pain as Authors of Pain finished off Uriel Ealy with The Last Chapter for the pin and win. Nice effort from The Ealy Brothers, but Authors of Pain was too much for them as Authors of Pain continued to dominate the NXT Tag Team division.

After the match, Paul Ellering cut a promo by saying that The Revival are the next name in his book. The Revival may claimed themselves as the best tag team on the planet, but Paul Ellering said that Authors of Pain are a tag team that is made for greatness. He then said that Authors of Pain are a tag team of destiny and they will soon be a destiny.

#DIY then came out and told Paul Ellering that they didn’t know what algorithm means, but what they do know as well as everyone within the audience knows that if there’s one tag team that can beat Authors of Pain, it would be them. They then said that it weren’t for The Revival, they would have been 2x NXT Tag Team Champions and now, they’re looking to get a fair rematch for the NXT Tag Team Championships.

The Revival then came out and they asked Authors of Pain about how they feel after receiving a Shatter Machine last week which made Authors of Pain mad. Scott Dawson then said that they should never lost the NXT Tag Team Championships in the first place as they equate themselves as Tom Brady and Michael Jordan where they do not watch from the sidelines. They then said that they are the MVPs of the tag team division and they told Paul Ellering that they are the greatest tag team of all time.

William Regal then came out and decided at NXT Orlando, it will Authors of Pain Vs. #DIY Vs. The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Championships in a triple threat tag team elimination match.

Wow, so we’re getting Authors of Pain Vs. #DIY vs. The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Championships in a triple threat elimination tag team match at NXT Orlando. Awesome! I was expecting a three way tag team match between these three teams, but I didn’t expect an elimination match so that was nice. Looking forward to that match at NXT Orlando. Should be awesome.

Good tag team squash match and good promo segment as I’m looking forward to Authors of Pain Vs. #DIY Vs. The Revival in a triple threat elimination tag team match for the NXT Tag Team Championships at NXT Orlando.

We then get a vignette of Heavy Machinery and that they’re returning to NXT soon. It’s awesome to see that Heavy Machinery will make their return to NXT soon as they are a tag team that have a lot of potential so I’m looking forward to their re-debut in NXT soon.

Just a reminder that Loud by Motionless In White is a theme for NXT Orlando and it’s a good song. NXT Orlando is in two weeks and I can’t wait to see it. Should be a great show.

We then get a video package hyping up Asuka Vs. Ember Moon at NXT Orlando for the NXT Women’s Championship and it was good. This is good as it hypes up Asuka Vs. Ember Moon at NXT Orlando which should be excellent. Looking forward to it.

Macey Estrella Vs. Nikki Cross was a good women’s squash match. This was a good showcase for Nikki Cross here as she showed that she’s a dangerous woman inside that ring.

Macey Estrella didn’t get much offense in as Nikki Cross completely demolished her in this match as every time Nikki Cross hit a swinging fisherman’s neckbreaker on Macey Estrella, Eric Young told her from ringside that she knows what to do as Nikki Cross hit six swinging fisherman’s neckbreakers on Macey Estrella before pinning her for the win. A strong statement from Nikki Cross here as she showed the NXT Women’s division that you should not mess with her or else you will get demolished by “The Best Wrestler in the Galaxy”. Nice show of dominance from Nikki Cross here.

After the match, Tye Dillinger and No Way Jose came into the ring to attack SAnitY. Eventually, SAnitY took advantage over Tye Dillinger and No Way Jose as Killian Dain and Alexander Wolfe hold Tye Dillinger in place as Eric Young hit No Way Jose with the wheelbarrow position transitioned into an elevated neckbreaker. Killian Dain then hit a running senton on Tye Dillinger as Eric Young told Tye Dillinger that is his fault and that his blood is on his own hands.

I admire what Tye Dillinger and No Way Jose were trying to do here, but they should have know that they’re no match for SAnitY here. It will be interesting to see how Tye Dillinger and No Way Jose will fight back against SAnitY with the numbers game. Maybe they’ll find a women’s wrestler to fight Nikki Cross for them? My suggestion would be Kimber Lee, but we’ll see.

Good women’s squash match and good post-segment as I’m interested to see what’s next in this Tye Dillinger, No Way Jose, Roderick Strong, and SAnitY feud in NXT.

We then get another vignette of Aleister Black and it was great. Awesome that we got another vignette of Aleister Black and it’s a different one too so that made me happy. I can’t wait for his debut and he’s going to do great things in NXT. NXT will fade to black!

NXT is returning to the UK this June for the Download Festival so get your tickets now before it’s too late so you can see NXT live!

Just a reminder that Shock Me by Baroness is a theme for NXT Orlando and it’s a good song. NXT Orlando is in two weeks and I can’t wait to see it. Should be a great show.

We then get a recap of what happened last week when Ember Moon hit a diving corkscrew stunner on Billie Kay where Billie Kay got injured, but managed to get up and leave the ring on her own two feet. This is good as it showed what happened last week in case people missed it or forgot about it and it also ties in to the next segment which I will talk about next.

The backstage segment between Andrade “Cien” Almas, HoHo Lun, and Oney Lorcan by Andrea D’Marco was good. Andrea D’Marco was about to provide an update on Billie Kay’s condition until Andrade “Cien” Almas was bullying HoHo Lun behind her as Oney Lorcan then came up to defend HoHo Lun as Andrade “Cien” Almas walked away.

We then get a backstage interview later with Oney Lorcan by Kayla Braxton where Kayla Braxton asked Oney Lorcan on how he felt about HoHo Lun being bullied by Andrade “Cien” Almas. Oney Lorcan said that he and HoHo Lun are friends and that nobody deserves that type of treatment. Oney Lorcan then said that if Andrade “Cien” Almas wants to bully people, he should try to bully him.

It’s a shame that we didn’t get an update on Billie Kay’s condition which I hope we’ll get because I want to know if Billie Kay is okay or not after what happened last week. At the same time, it seems like we’re getting a feud between Oney Lorcan and Andrade “Cien” Almas which I don’t mind which should be great. Good backstage segment here overall.

We then get an announcement that next week, we will have Oney Lorcan Vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas and Tye Dillinger, No Way Jose & Roderick Strong Vs. SAnitY. Looking forward to those matches next week. Should be good.

The backstage interview with Kassius Ohno by Andrea D’Marco was good. Kassius Ohno talked about how he can’t wait to be back to wrestle in that NXT ring and that he plans to beat Bobby Roode for the NXT Championship.

I like the jersey that Kassius Ohno was wearing and it seems like Kassius Ohno is going to be wearing that every time he’s in the ring until he loses more weight which I don’t mind. Kassius Ohno is looking confident here, but will he win the NXT Championship? I guess we’ll find out soon enough. Good backstage interview here.

The backstage interview with Bobby Roode by Andrea D’Marco was good. Bobby Roode talked about how Kassius Ohno is a failure and he proved it the last time he was in NXT. He then said he’s going to prove the world why this is his NXT.

Bobby Roode seemed very confident that he will retain his NXT Championship, but will he able to retain? I guess we’ll find out next. Good backstage interview here.

Bobby Roode Vs. Kassius Ohno for the NXT Championship was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Not only that, this is Kassius Ohno’s in-ring return to NXT! Mark out moment! Both of these men went out there and delivered an excellent match where either man could have walked out as the champion.

Also, as the match was going on, we see Shinsuke Nakamura watching the match backstage. It’s cool to see that Shinsuke Nakamura is paying attention to this match as he’s trying to determine who he will face at NXT Orlando for the NXT Championship. Nice attention to detail there. Anyway, back to the match itself.

Kassius Ohno did excellent in this match as he showed how much he wants to win the NXT Championship. His strikes and big boots to Bobby Roode looked devastating. Not only that, I thought he finished Bobby Roode off after he hit his discus elbow smash on Bobby Roode followed by the running senton, but Bobby Roode kicked out. Excellent performance from Kassius Ohno here.

Bobby Roode did excellent in this match as he showed why he is the current NXT Champion. His clotheslines on Kassius Ohno looked devastating and his spinebuster on Kassius Ohno was well executed. As always, he was glorious! Excellent performance from Bobby Roode here.

The ending of the match when Bobby Roode hit Kassius Ohno with the Glorious DDT (Lifting DDT) for the pin and win. Even though Kassius Ohno lost this match, he looked excellent in defeat so he had nothing to be ashamed of. As for Bobby Roode, he was glorious here and now, he’s heading to NXT Orlando as the NXT Champion as he will defend the NXT Championship against Shinsuke Nakamura. Looking forward to that match at NXT Orlando which should be excellent. Looking forward to it.

Excellent match and I’m looking forward to Bobby Roode Vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the NXT Championship at NXT Orlando.

Overall, good show that is building up NXT Orlando in two weeks. Next week, we are going to have Oney Lorcan Vs. Andrade “Cien” Almas and Tye Dillinger, No Way Jose, and Roderick Strong Vs. SAnitY which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
