205 Live on April 18, 2017 was a good show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:
We start off the show with a video package as we see highlights of TJ Perkins turning heel and joining Neville last week on Monday Night Raw and 205 Live. This is good as it lets people know what happened last week in case people missed it or forgot about it. Well produced video package here.
Akira Tozawa Vs. Tony Nese was a good match. We then get a recap of what happened last week when Mustafa Ali beat The Brian Kendrick as Akira Tozawa costed The Brian Kendrick the match. This is good as it showed what happened last week in case people missed or forgot about it so I was fine with it. Before the match, both men shook hands. Also, during the match, The Brian Kendrick came to ringside to observe the match between Akira Tozawa and Tony Nese. The Brian Kendrick still have issues with Akira Tozawa so it made sense for him to observe the match.
Tony Nese did well in this match as he showed his hybrid style in the ring. His front suplex slam on Akira Tozawa on the ropes looked painful as heck. Akira Tozawa did well in this match too as he tried to teach a lesson to The Brian Kendrick with Tony Nese. His suicide dive on Tony Nese to the outside and his running single leg dropkick were well executed. Good performances by both men here.
The ending of the match came when The Brian Kendrick was about to hit Akira Tozawa from ringside, but the referee saw it which caused a distraction for Tony Nese as Akira Tozawa rolled up Tony Nese with a sunset flip for the pin and win. Another clever victory from Akira Tozawa as he got the better of The Brian Kendrick once again.
After the match, The Brian Kendrick went to the ring and tried to apologize to Tony Nese about what he did and blamed Akira Tozawa for it. As The Brian Kendrick was getting closer to Akira Tozawa, Tony Nese attacked him from behind for what he did as he left the ring. Akira Tozawa then grabbed a mic and told The Brian Kendrick that lesson number three is that you must have eyes on the back of your head as The Brian Kendrick looked at Akira Tozawa with anger.
Once again, The Brian Kendrick just got a taste of his own medicine right there from Akira Tozawa. It will be interesting to see how The Brian Kendrick will respond to Akira Tozawa after this. Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!
Good match and I’m interested to see what’s next in this feud between Akira Tozawa and The Brian Kendrick.
The promo segment between Rich Swann, Noam Dar, and Alicia Fox was great. We got a recap of what happened last week when Noam Dar confronted Rich Swann about Rich Swann giving presents to Alicia Fox which led to another present from Rich Swann being given to Alicia Fox where Noam Dar took credit for it. Alicia Fox then opened the box and it was baby powder as Rich Swann laughed and Noam Dar looking embarrassed. This is good as it shows what happened last week in case people missed it or forgot about it so I was fine with it.
Rich Swann came into the ring and called out Alicia Fox to come out to the ring about the present he gave to her last week, but then Noam Dar interrupted him by saying that last week was the most humilating night of his life as Rich Swann interfered in his relationship with Alicia Fox. He then called Rich Swann as stinking little brat and he’s going to pay the price.
As Rich Swann and Noam Dar were facing off, Alicia Fox then came in to the ring and Rich Swann asked her on about her decision as Noam Dar said that he will deal with him. Alicia Fox then grabbed the mic from Noam Dar and said to him that he’s a future star in 205 Live as he has the tools until she got to know him more. Alicia Fox then started to call Noam Dar immature, his cologne stinks, and he can’t cook in every room. She then told Noam Dar that she never cared about him and that the way he called her name is annoying to her and if it happens one more time, she will snap. Alicia Fox then broke up with Noam Dar and told him to leave as Noam Dar left feeling heartbroken.
Alicia Fox then turned her attention to Rich Swann as she thanked him for the gifts as Rich Swann told her it all came from the heart. Rich Swann then told Alicia Fox that the gifts that he gave them are all what Alicia Fox deserves and Alicia Fox was about to give Rich Swann until he stopped her. Alicia Fox then questioned him as Rich Swann told Alicia Fox that she got what she deserves. He then asked Alicia Fox that if she remembers Cedric Alexander because Cedric Alexander is recovering from injury and she was the one who broke his heart where Alicia Fox left Cedric Alexander for Noam Dar. Rich Swann then told Alicia Fox that he showed the world who Alicia Fox is, but he’s not going to say it because that is his gift to her as he left the ring.
Alicia Fox then said that being single is better to her because she can do what she wants as she questioned why the fans chanted what to her. She then told the fans to stop chanting what or else she’s going to snap where she snapped at the audience by continuing to say what to the fans until the segment was cut.
Alicia Fox, how could you hurt Noam Dar’s heart like that? That’s not cool. However, she got what she deserves for what she has done to Cedric Alexander and now it seems like she may go back to being a crazy chick again which I don’t mind as I do like that character. Hopefully, that will happen as this ends the Rich Swann, Noam Dar, and Alicia Fox feud. However, I don’t think the Cedric Alexander, Noam Dar, and Alicia Fox feud is over since Cedric Alexander probably wants some revenge even though Rich Swann did it for him, but we’ll see.
Great promo segment as I’m interested to see what’s next for Rich Swann, Noam Dar, and Alicia Fox.
Mustafa Ali Vs. Ariya Daivari was a good match. Ariya Daivari was sporting a new look as he wore a gold chain, sunglasses and a shirt while making his entrance to the ring as earlier in the show, he came to the arena with a nice looking yellow car as a butler came in and Ariya Daivari told him not to touch his car if he wants a tip. Interesting new look and character for Ariya Daivari as I’m interested to see where this character will go.
Mustafa Ali did well in this match as he tried to climb up the ladder in the cruiserweight division. His rolling through the middle ropes into a jumping neckbreaker on Ariya Daivari was well executed. Ariya Daivari did well in this match too as he was showcasing his new character in the ring. His belly-to-back suplex on Mustafa Ali on the ring apron looked devastating. The way he countered Mustafa Ali’s spinning Tornado DDT into a spinebuster looked well done. Good performances by both men here.
The ending of the match came when Drew Gulak came at ringside as he distracted Mustafa Ali with a sign and a megaphone as he said to him, “I’m not lying, no high flying”. This led to Ariya Daivari taking advantage and hit Mustafa Ali with the Hammerlock lariat for the pin and win. A good win for Ariya Daivari with an assist of Drew Gulak in this match. I guess this will continue the feud between Mustafa Ali and Drew Gulak where I’m looking forward to the match between them. Should be good.
Good match as I’m interested to see what’s next in this feud between Mustafa Ali and Drew Gulak.
The backstage interview with Drew Gulak by Dasha Fuentes was good. Drew Gulak was walking backstage with his No Fly Zone! sign until he bumped into Dasha Fuentes where she asked him why he did what he did during Mustafa Ali’s match. Drew Gulak responded to her by saying that 205 Live is heading into a bright future and what happened earlier was an example of that. Drew Gulak said that he has nothing against Mustafa Ali, but he can’t stand his high flying moves in the ring. He then said that he represents the WWE Universe and he will make 205 Live better for the future.
It seems like Drew Gulak wanted to show Mustafa Ali that his idea of 205 Live doesn’t involve him and I don’t think Mustafa Ali is going to stand for it. Can’t wait to see the match between the two when they finally face off. Should be good. Good backstage interview here.
Austin Aries Vs. TJ Perkins was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Before the match, TJ Perkins spitted his hand and extended his hand to Austin Aries where Austin Aries slapped it away as the match got underway. I’m liking the new character of TJ Perkins as it gives him more personality and what he did there was a good example of that.
TJ Perkins did excellent in this match as he was trying to take out Austin Aries for Neville. The way he worked on Austin Aries’ leg throughout the match was excellent in-ring psychology. His dropkick to Austin Aries to the outside looked devastating. Excellent performance from TJ Perkins here.
Austin Aries did excellent in this match as he was trying to get payback on TJ Perkins for what he did to him last week. His selling on his leg when TJ Perkins went after it was well done as it really looked like he was in pain. Plus, his ear clap on TJ Perkins looked painful as heck. Excellent performance from Austin Aries here.
The ending of the match came when Austin Aries hit a Discus Fivearm (Discus forearm smash) on TJ Perkins for the pin and win. A great win for Austin Aries as he’s ready to face Neville for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at WWE Payback.
After the match, Neville rushed to the ring as Austin Aries and Neville brawled in the ring. Austin Aries then got Neville locked in the Last Chancery until TJ Perkins came in and broke it up as TJ Perkins and Neville began to attack on Austin Aries.
TJ Perkins then hit Austin Aries with the Denotation Kick (Fireman’s carrry dropped into an overhead kick) as Neville followed it up by locking Austin Aries in the crossface/scissored armbar combination as Austin Aries passed out. The referees then pulled Neville out of the way as Neville and TJ Perkins stood tall over Austin Aries.
It looks like Neville and TJ Perkins got the better of Austin Aries here as I’m interested to see how Austin Aries will retaliate after this. Will Austin Aries find someone to deal with TJ Perkins or will Austin Aries take on Neville and TJ Perkins by himself? I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
Excellent match and I’m interested to see what’s next in this Neville, TJ Perkins, and Austin Aries feud.
Overall, good show for the twenty first episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
