205 Live 5/9/17 Review: One Final Lesson From The Man With a Plan

205 Live on May 9, 2017 was a great show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package as we see highlights of Austin Aries Vs. TJP on Monday Night Raw last week and Gentleman Jack Gallagher Vs. TJP last night on Monday Night Raw. This is good as it lets people know what happened on Monday Night Raw in case people missed it or forgot about it. Well produced video package here.

The segment between Gentleman Jack Gallagher, Austin Aries, Neville, and TJP was great. Gentleman Jack Gallagher talked about how he was attacked by TJP on Monday Night Raw and if it weren’t for Austin Aries, Gentleman Jack Gallagher wouldn’t be standing so he called out Austin Aries to thank him. Austin Aries then came out and Gentleman Jack Gallagher thanked him for his actions and that he wants a toast with Austin Aries. Austin Aries then told Gentleman Jack Gallagher that he didn’t have to do this, but Gentleman Jack Gallagher told Austin Aries that what he did was a good deed and he’s going to make sure that his fight against Neville and TJP will be fair as he will joining him where Austin Aries thanked him for that.

Gentleman Jack Gallagher then began to treat Austin Aries with some cocktails as Austin Aries said that he’s more of a fan of red wine, but he accepted the drink anyway. Gentleman Jack Gallagher then began to sing to Austin Aries that he is a good fellow.

However, he was interrupted by Neville as he came up from the ramp as he told Austin Aries and Gentleman Jack Gallagher that what they’re doing is pathetic and that Gentleman Jack Gallagher is like everyone else in the London crowd by being a bad example of an English man. Neville then questioned the fans in London that if they lost their diginity of being English as Austin Aries interrupted him and said that Neville got himself disqualified in order to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. He then said that he loves England as Neville said that nobody cares about his opinion. Neville then told Austin Aries that he had two opportunities at him and he failed. He then said that the next time they will face, it will be Austin Aries’ last appearance in 205 Live.

As Austin Aries and Gentleman Jack Gallagher were staring at Neville, TJP attacked Austin Aries from behind as Gentleman Jack Gallagher tried to stop TJP. Neville then came in and attacked Gentleman Jack Gallagher as Neville and TJP were beatng up Austin Aries. Gentleman Jack Gallagher then hit a dropkick on Neville and an European Uppercut to Neville as he tried to take both men down. Gentleman Jack Gallagher then went to the outside to try to beat up Neville, but Neville threw Gentleman Jack Gallagher to the barricade. Neville and TJP then began to beat down Gentleman Jack Gallagher until Austin Aries hit a diving double axe handle on TJP as Neville attacked him afterwards. Austin Aries then threw Neville and TJP to the barricade. He then threw Neville over the announce table and Austin Aries dived over the announce table to get his hands on Neville.

Gentleman Jack Gallagher and TJP were back in the ring as TJP tried to get the upper hand on Gentleman Jack Gallagher, but Gentleman Jack Gallagher spit beer onto TJP’s eyes and hit him with a headbutt. Neville then hit Gentleman Jack Gallagher with a kick and Austin Aries hit Neville with the Discus Fivearm (Discus forearm smash) as Neville and TJP retreated up to the ramp. Austin Aries and Gentleman Jack Gallagher then celebrated by drinking beer.

This was a fun segment that got its point across and it’s building up to a potential tag team or a four way match for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship between Neville, Austin Aries, TJP, and Gentleman Jack Gallagher. Will be interesting to see what happens next in this feud.

Great segment as I’m interested to see what’s next in this Neville, Austin Aries, TJP, and Gentleman Jack Gallagher feud.

The backstage segment between Rich Swann, Noam Dar, and Alicia Fox was good. Rich Swann was walking backstage until he saw Noam Dar and Alicia Fox as Rich Swann told Noam Dar that after everything that Alicia Fox has said to him, he is still with her. Alicia Fox then told Rich Swann that his plan didn’t work and Noam Dar told him that he made a mistake for trying to ruin their relationship. Alicia Fox told Rich Swann that she never left Noam Dar as she threw both Rich Swann and Cedric Alexander to the curve as she would never leave Noam Dar on his own. Rich Swann then said that he’s happy for both Noam Dar and Alicia Fox and that they are meant for each other. Rich Swann was about to walk away until Noam Dar stopped him and told him that he and Alicia Fox do deserve each other, but he hasn’t forgotten what he did to them and he will get what he deserves as he and Alicia Fox left.

It seems like the feud between Rich Swann and Noam Dar is far from over as Noam Dar still wants his revenge on Rich Swann for what he has done to him and Alicia Fox for the past few years. Their last match together was excellent so I’m looking forward to seeing these two face off again in the near future. Good backstage segment here.

Mustafa Ali Vs. Tony Nese was a great match. During the match, we see Drew Gulak backstage as he was looking shocked at what Mustafa Ali did in the match. This was a good way to show that the feud between Mustafa Ali and Drew Gulak is still going so I appreciated that. Back to the match itself.

Tony Nese did great in this match as he tried a win over Mustafa Ali. His clothesline to Mustafa Ali looked devastating. Mustafa Ali did great in this match too as he was trying to show that high-flying moves are worth the risk. His spinning Tornado DDT on Tony Nese was executed beautifully. Great performances by both men here.

The ending of the match came when Mustafa Ali hit Tony Nese with an inverted 450 splash for the pin and win. A good win for Mustafa Ali as he has his eyes set on Drew Gulak.

Great match and I’m interested to see what’s next in the Mustafa Ali and Drew Gulak feud.

The backstage segment with Ariya Daivari and Akira Tozawa was good. Ariya Daivari was backstage as he didn’t like the shine of his boots from someone shining his boots as his boots are worth more than the shiner’s house. He then said that he wouldn’t even pay a dime for his work as he left. He then bumped into Akira Tozawa as Ariya Daivari told him to watch where he is going as his shirt cost $1500 and he doesn’t want it to get ruined by Akira Tozawa. Akira Tozawa then started his chant as Ariya Daivari left while Akira Tozawa smiled after he left as he heads to the ring.

It seems like we might get a possible feud between Akira Tozawa and Ariya Daivari because of the way this backstage segment was set up. However, till then, Akira Tozawa needs to focus on The Brian Kendrick as I’m looking forward to that match which should be great. Good backstage segment here.

We then get a vignette of Cedric Alexander and that he will be returning to 205 Live soon! Mark out moment! Cedric Alexander was out for a few months due to a knee injury so I can’t wait to see him back in the ring once he recovers. Looking forward to it.

Akira Tozawa Vs. The Brian Kendrick was an excellent match. Mark out moment! After these two have been feuding for three months, they finally come to blows in this match and it was excellent as both men really wanted to beat the living heck out of each other.

The Brian Kendrick did excellent in this match as he tried to teach Akira Tozawa lessons that he’ll never forget. His Sliced Bread #2 (Shiranui) on Akira Tozawa using the ring steps on the outside looked devastating. The way that The Brian Kendrick worked on Akira Tozawa’s neck was excellent in-ring psychology there. Excellent performance from The Brian Kendrick here.

Akira Tozawa did excellent in this match as well as he tried to get revenge on The Brian Kendrick for what he has done to him for the past few months. His suicide dive to The Brian Kendrick on the outside was well executed. His shining wizard to The Brian Kendrick looked devastating. Excellent performance from Akira Tozawa here.

The ending of the match came when The Brian Kendrick tried to hit a Sliced Bread #2 on Akira Tozawa, but Akira Tozawa countered it by rolling him for the pin and win. A great win for Akira Tozawa as he got the surprising victory over The Brian Kendrick. Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!

After the match, The Brian Kendrick attacked Akira Tozawa as he sent him out to the ring. He then banged Akira Tozawa’s head on the announce table before hitting two Russian legsweeps on Akira Tozawa on the steel steps. The Brian Kendrick then put Akira Tozawa’s head under the second steel step as he stomp on the steel step to make Akira Tozawa unconscious. The Brian Kendrick then grabbed a mic and told Akira Tozawa that this will be the final lesson that he will teach him with, never mess with The Brian Kendrick as he shoved the mic on Akira Tozawa’s mouth as he left.

Man, The Brian Kendrick went a bit too far post-match, but he was trying to pay back Akira Tozawa for everything he has done to him for the past three months and Akira Tozawa paid the price for it. However, I don’t think Akira Tozawa will be done with The Brian Kendrick after this. Will be interesting to see what happens next in this feud. He’s a man with a plan!

Excellent match and I’m looking forward to what’s next in this feud between Akira Tozawa and The Brian Kendrick.

Overall, great show for the twenty fourth episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
