205 Live on June 27, 2017 was a good show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:
We start off the show with a video package of hyping up the feud of Neville and Akira Tozawa for the past few weeks. This is good as it’s hyping up the match between Neville and Akira Tozawa for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at Greats Ball of Fire which should be a great match. Well produced video package here.
The backstage interview with Gentleman Jack Gallagher by Dasha Fuentes was good. Dasha Fuentes asked Gentleman Jack Gallagher on how he looks to rebound on his loss last week as he goes up against The Brian Kendrick. Gentleman Jack Gallagher responded by saying that he should have known that Tony Nese would have done dirty tricks on him, but he won’t make the same mistake again with The Brian Kendrick as he heads to the ring.
It seems like Gentleman Jack Gallagher is focused tonight as he looks to rebound this week with trying to get a win for over The Brian Kendrick. Good backstage interview here.
Gentleman Jack Gallagher Vs. The Brian Kendrick was a good match for what it was. When The Brian Kendrick made his entrance, he was dressing up as a gentleman as he cut a promo on Gentleman Jack Gallagher by saying that he would be a shame of himself if he looked like Gentleman Jack Gallagher. The Brian Kendrick then told Gentleman Jack Gallagher that he should be embarrassed of himself of who he is and what he is playing as. He then told Gentleman Jack Gallagher that he should be embarrassed of himself as he’s embarrassing England. He then told Gentleman Jack Gallagher right in front of his face that he’s just a cheap imitation of William Regal and he doesn’t like it. Interesting to see that The Brian Kendrick has a problem with Gentleman Jack Gallagher as it will probably lead to a feud between the two, but let’s get back to the match itself.
As the match was starting to pick up, The Brian Kendrick grabbed an umbrella and hit Gentleman Jack Gallagher with it to cause a disqualification as he continued to beat up Gentleman Jack Gallagher with the umbrella as he eventually broke it. He then grabbed another one and continued to beat down Gentleman Jack Gallagher with the umbrella until the referees broke it up as The Brian Kendrick left. It definitely seems like this will be the start of the feud between these two and what they showcase in the ring with the short amount of time they were given, this could be a good feud for both.
Good match for what it was and I can’t wait to see the feud between Gentleman Jack Gallagher and The Brian Kendrick to officially begin.
The backstage segment between Drew Gulak and Mustafa Ali by Dasha Fuentes was good. Dasha Fuentes showed Drew Gulak on what happened last week when Mustafa Ali beat Drew Gulak in his own game. Drew Gulak responded by saying that instead of showing his ground game, she showed him his loss to Mustafa Ali instead. Drew Gulak then said that he was alright with it because it showed that he can be an influence to 205 Live and he will continue to do so as he started his chant, “Safe and sound! Feet on the ground!”.
He continued that until Mustafa Ali came in and asked Dasha Fuentes a few questions about why Drew Gulak hates showoffs and high-flying moves. He then said to Drew Gulak’s face that the reason why Drew Gulak hates high-flying is that he can’t do it himself as he did a thumbs up on him as he left with Drew Gulak being pissed off.
Oh man, Mustafa Ali got Drew Gulak there as he’s not known for his high-flying moves, but more of his technical skills. It will be interesting to see how Drew Gulak will react to that in his match against Mustafa Ali. I guess we’ll find out next. Good backstage segment here.
Mustafa Ali Vs. Drew Gulak was a good match. While Drew Gulak was making his entrance, he was talking to his megaphone by chanting, “Safe and sound! Feet on the ground!” as well as saying that he will teach that Mustafa Ali. Drew Gulak was very pissed when Mustafa Ali called him out so let’s see how he respond in this match.
Drew Gulak did well in this match as he tried to make Mustafa Ali stay on the ground. His clothesline and suplex to the corner on Mustafa Ali looked devastating. Mustafa Ali did well in this match too as he tried to show that high risk equals high reward. His tilt-a-whirl DDT on Drew Gulak was well executed. Good performances by both men here.
The ending of the match came when Drew Gulak was about to hit Mustafa Ali with a diving splash, but Mustafa Ali rolled out of the way as he got Drew Gulak in a crucifix pin for the win. Mustafa Ali once again outsmarted Drew Gulak by beating him in his own game. Drew Gulak tried to beat Mustafa Ali in his game, but it failed. Mustafa Ali is getting the better of Drew Gulak now and let’s see how Drew Gulak retaliates.
Good match and I can’t wait on the next chapter of this feud between Mustafa Ali and Drew Gulak.
We then get see a tweet from Neville saying that Akira Tozawa should wish that he never messed with him as he will beat him at Great Balls of Fire. Neville is looking to beat Akira Tozawa at Great Balls of Fire and feels confident that he can do it. Let’s see if Neville can pull it off at Great Balls of Fire.
The backstage segment between Ariya Daivari and Noam Dar was good. Ariya Daivari was backstage until Noam Dar showed up and told Ariya Daivari that he apologized for throwing his bag in the river last week as it was supposed to be for Cedric Alexander and not him as he should take his frustration out on Cedric Alexander. Noam Dar then continued to apologize to Ariya Daivari until Ariya Daivari that he should stop and that it was no big deal to him. Noam Dar was then relieved as he didn’t want to pay back money to Ariya Daivari as he’s currently broke due to Alicia Fox calling him all the time making his phone bills at a high rate. Noam Dar then got a call on Alicia Fox and while he was talking to her, Ariya Daivari took Noam Dar’s phone as he turned off the call and told Noam Dar that he still owe him as he threw the phone to the wall as he left pissed.
Man, Noam Dar may even be more broke now since his phone probably got destroyed by the wall as he needs a new one. Ariya Daivari is probably going to destroy Cedric Alexander in the ring after what happened here. Good backstage segment here.
Cedric Alexander Vs. Ariya Daivari was a great match. Both of these men went out there and delivered a great match where neither man looked weak in the process.
Ariya Daivari did great in this match as he tried to make a statement in the cruiserweight division. His hip toss to the corner on Cedric Alexander looked painful as heck as it took Cedric Alexander out. Cedric Alexander did great in this match as he tried to climb to the top of the cruiserweight division. His back handspring roundhouse kick on Ariya Daivari was well executed. Great performances by both men here.
The ending of the match came when Noam Dar came out to the ring to try to distract Cedric Alexander, but Cedric Alexander punched Noam Dar to get him out of the ring as Ariya Daivari took advantage by hitting a hammerlock lariat on Cedric Alexander for the pin and win. A good win for Ariya Daivari as he’s making a name for himself in the cruiserweight division.
After the match, Noam Dar attacked Cedric Alexander and kicked him out of the ring. He then grabbed a mic and said that he is done with Cedric Alexander along with Alicia Fox as they have move on.
Even though Noam Dar and Alicia Fox may have moved on from Cedric Alexander, but I doubt Cedric Alexander have moved on from them after what Noam Dar did to him here. I wonder how Cedric Alexander will react to this attack. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.
Great match and I’m intrigued to see what’s next in this Cedric Alexander and Noam Dar feud.
The promo segment between Neville and Akira Tozawa was excellent. Mark out moment! Neville came out and talked about how at Great Balls of Fire, he will defend the WWE Cruiserweight Championship against Akira Tozawa. He said that Akira Tozawa is not worthy of him and Titus Worldwide is nothing to him as Akira Tozawa will just be another victim of his reign as champion. He then told Akira Tozawa that he shouldn’t show up at Great Balls of Fire because if he does, he will destroy him.
As Neville was about to continue, Akira Tozawa then came out as Neville asked him on what he wants. Akira Tozawa responded to Neville with his Ah chants as Neville asked Akira Tozawa if he understands what he is saying to him. Akira Tozawa continued with his Ah chants as Neville got annoyed and tried to attack Akira Tozawa, but Akira Tozawa dodged his attack and hit him with an enzuiguri as it made Neville leave the ring as he retreated up to the ramp while Akira Tozawa stood tall in the ring.
I really love the intensity that Neville showed in his promo as he has really been on a roll since his heel run and he has gotten better on the mic because of his new character. I believe that he can beat anyone in the cruiserweight division because of what he’s saying and he can back it up in the ring. Love it. Akira Tozawa is looking strong heading to Great Balls of Fire, but can he beat Neville for the title? We’ll find out in two weeks at Great Balls of Fire. Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!
Excellent promo segment as I’m looking forward to the match between Neville and Akira Tozawa for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at Great Balls of Fire.
Overall, good show for the thirty first episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
