Lucha Underground on July 19, 2017 was a great show that helps build up storylines and feuds in the future as well as building up new characters. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a recap of what happened between Dario Cueto, Cage, Councilman Delgado, Son of Madness, Son of Havoc, Rey Mysterio and Prince Puma earlier in the season of Lucha Underground Season 3. This is a good way to remind people about what happened during that time in case they missed it or forgot about it because since they have been on a long break, it’s good to refresh people’s minds heading into this show so I appreciated that. Well done and well produced.

The video segment between Prince Puma, Vampiro, and Worldwide Underground was good. Prince Puma was at the rooftop of the temple as he started to have flashbacks with his feud with Mil Muertes and the Grave Consequences match. Vampiro then arrived and told Prince Puma that his purpose is to win the Lucha Underground Championship. Prince Puma asked Vampiro on what if he doesn’t win the championship where Vampiro responded by saying that the visions he’s seeing will consume him and it will leave nothing left as he left.

Worldwide Underground then arrived to the temple as PJ Black saw Prince Puma up the rooftop and gave him the middle finger as he walked in the temple. Prince Puma then vowed to his master that he will win.

I wonder if Vampiro is really controlling the mind of Prince Puma as Vampiro has been in the head of Prince Puma lately. However, this could be on Prince Puma’s own will and he’s using Vampiro to get what he wants. Either way, let’s see where this goes. Good video segment here.

Cage Vs. Pindar in the round of sixteen in the Cueto Cup never got started as the referee was trying to get off the gauntlet from Cage’s hand, but Cage ended up hitting a clothesline on the referee and Pindar with the gauntlet as the referee called for the bell for a disqualification as Pindar moves on to the quarter-finals to face Fenix which should be great.

After the referee called for the bell, Cage hit a vertical suplex piledriver on the referee as he left the ring with his gauntlet at hand.

Ever since Cage got that gauntlet, he has been dangerous. Don’t mess with Cage as you will either end up dead or serverly injured. Councilman Delgado and the referee are examples to show. Either way, Cage is out and Pindar moves on.

Great segment here as Pindar moves on to the quarter-finals of the Cueto Cup.

Son of Havoc Vs. Dante Fox in the round of sixteen of the Cueto Cup was excellent. Mark out moment! As Son of Havoc was heading to the ring, Son of Madness attacked Son of Havoc from behind and they brawled into the crowd. Son of Havoc managed to fight back, but Son of Madness ended up hitting Son of Havoc with a steel chain to the face as Son of Madness retreated. Dario Cueto then came out from his office and told Son of Havoc that the tournament must go on as Son of Havoc either forfeit or fight right now in which Son of Havoc nod his head.

The feud between Son of Havoc and Son of Madness continues and Son of Havoc is willing to face Dante Fox despite being attacked from Son of Madness. I don’t know if it’s the right decision, but Son of Havoc so I’ll give him that. Anyway, let’s talk about the match.

Son of Havoc did excellent in this match despite being attacked from Son of Madness. His Death Valley Driver on Dante Fox from the ring apron to the floor looked painful as heck! Mark out moment! Man, that has to hurt. Surprised that both men were okay after that. Excellent work from Son of Havoc here.

Dante Fox did excellent in this match as well as he took the advantage of a beaten up Son of Havoc. His somersault dive over the top rope to the floor on Son of Havoc was beautifully executed and his diving leg drop onto Son of Havoc on the ring apron looked devastating. Excellent work from Dante Fox here.

The ending of the match came when Dante Fox hit Son of Havoc with the straightjacket fisherman buster for the pin and win. A great win for Dante Fox and a great effort from Son of Havoc despite being attacked before the match. Dante Fox moves on to the quarter-finals.

Excellent match and Dante Fox moves on to the quarter-finals of the Cueto Cup.

The backstage segment between Worldwide Underground and Benjamin Cooke was good. PJ Black met with Worldwide Underground backstage as he asked Johnny Mundo why he’s being called here as Johnny Mundo introduced Benjamin Cooke to PJ Black. Benjamin Cooke told PJ Black that he’s a representative of Worldwide Underground and wants them in cereal boxes, magazines, billboards, and to make money. Benjamin Cooke then told PJ Black that if he does his part, Worldwide Underground will own Lucha Underground as PJ Black heads to the ring for his match.

It seems like Worldwide Underground is going to get more famous thanks to Benjamin Cooke as their agent. However, if PJ Black wins, they may take over Lucha Underground pretty soon. We’ll see how PJ Black does against Prince Puma. Good backstage segment here.

We then get an announcement from Matt Striker and Vampiro that next week, it will be The Mack Vs. Texano and Pentagon Dark Vs. Drago in the round of sixteen in the Cueto Cup. Those should be great matches and I’m looking forward to them next week.

Prince Puma Vs. PJ Black in the round of sixteen in the Cueto Cup was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Both of these men went out there and delivered an excellent match as either man would have won this match and it would have been believable.

PJ Black did excellent in this match as he wants to win for Worldwide Underground. His counter to Prince Puma’s tilt-a-whirl DDT into a vertical suplex was impressive. His springboard moonsault on Prince Puma was beautifully executed. Excellent work from PJ Black here.

Prince Puma did excellent in this match as well as he wants to win for Vampiro. His reverse Frankensteiner on PJ Black was cool to see as well as his Frankensteiner on PJ Black when PJ Black was standing on the top rope. Excellent work from Prince Puma here.

The ending of the match came when Prince Puma hit a 630 senton on PJ Black for the pin and win. A great win for Prince Puma as he moves on to the quarter-finals to face Dante Fox which should be an excellent match.

Excellent match and Prince Puma moves on to the quarter-finals of the Cueto Cup.

The backstage segment between Dario Cueto and PJ Black was good. Dario Cueto was talking to Benjamin Cooke on the phone in his office until PJ Black came in and asked Dario Cueto on why he called him. Dario Cueto told PJ Black that Benjamin Cooke called him seventeen times and that he deserves another shot. He told PJ Black that he can’t get him back in the Cueto Cup, but he has an idea thanks to Benjamin Cooke as it will be Rey Mysterio Vs. PJ Black next week as PJ Black smiled as he left the office. Dario Cueto then got another phone call from Benjamin Cooke and threw the phone in the trash can.

Man, Benjamin Cooke is very insistent with Dario Cueto as he’s calling him nonstop. However, he has given PJ Black another opportunity as he will face Rey Mysterio which should be a huge match for PJ Black. Let’s see how PJ Black goes against Rey Mysterio next week. Good backstage segment here to end the show.

Overall, great show that helps build up storylines and feuds in the future as well as building up new characters. So many storylines and feuds here and I love it! Next week, the Cueto Cup continues with The Mack Vs. Texano and Pentagon Dark Vs. Drago along with Rey Mysterio Vs. PJ Black which should be great, looking forward to that. If you haven’t already, please check out Lucha Underground. It’s a great alternative to the mainstream wrestling and you won’t be disappointed. Looking forward to next week’s show. Lucha! Lucha! Lucha! Lucha!
