205 Live 8/15/17 Review: No Dancing with The King

205 Live on August 15, 2017 was a good show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package highlighting what happened on Monday Night Raw as Akira Tozawa beat Neville for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. This is good as it shows what happened on Monday Night Raw and that Akira Tozawa’s championship celebration takes place later on the show. Well produced video package here.

Cedric Alexander & Gran Metalik Vs. Tony Nese & Drew Gulak was a good tag team match. After Drew Gulak made his entrance, he cut a promo on how Tony Nese has beaten Cedric Alexander and Gran Metalik so he questioned on what he should do next. He then said that he doesn’t like showoffs, but Tony Nese is an exception because he’s showing off the right way and they’re going to make a better 205 Live. Drew Gulak still trying to make 205 Live better with his own tactics, but we’ll see how it goes. Back to the match itself.

Gran Metalik hit a nice springboard moonsault on Tony Nese to the outside. Tony Nese hit a well executed fireman’s carry gutbuster on Gran Metalik and Cedric Alexander hit a beautiful looking springboard clothesline on Tony Nese. Good work by both teams here.

The ending of the match came when Cedric Alexander hit a Lumbar Check (Belly-to-back suplex into a double knee backbreaker) on Drew Gulak for the pin and win. A good win for Cedric Alexander’s team as he got one over Tony Nese. Don’t know if the feud between them is over, but we’ll see in the next coming weeks.

Good tag team match and I want to see if the feud between Cedric Alexander and Tony Nese will continue or not.

The backstage segment between Noam Dar, Ariya Daivari, Lince Dorado, and Neville was good. Noam Dar was talking to Ariya Daivari and Lince Dorado that he can’t believe Akira Tozawa is the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion as Lince Dorado said he deserved it and Ariya Daivari said that he dethroned Neville.

Noam Dar was about to talk trash about Neville until Neville appeared looking pissed as Lince Dorado, Noam Dar, and Ariya Daivari all left with Neville throwing the chair being frustrated.

Don’t blame Neville for being pissed off as he did lose the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, but he will get his rematch eventually and he might get the title back. We’ll see how it goes though. Good backstage segment here.

We then see Titus O’Neil backstage as he was talking on the phone with someone. He’s probably setting up Akira Tozawa’s championship celebration later on the show so we’ll see how that turns out.

Mustafa Ali Vs. The Brian Kendrick was a good match for what it was. For what they have done in the match before the ending happened, they had a nice showing where they told a good story on whether or not Mustafa Ali can withstand The Brian Kendrick’s offense.

The part where The Brian Kendrick just kicked off Mustafa Ali’s legs from the top rope to make him fall flat on the mat looked devastating. Good work from both men here.

The ending of the match came when Gentleman Jack Gallagher came in and attacked The Brian Kendrick causing The Brian Kendrick to win by disqualification as The Brian Kendrick retreated to the crowd after the attack with Gentleman Jack Gallagher looking pissed.

We’re seeing a side of Gentleman Jack Gallagher that we rarely see and it’s quite surprising all due to The Brian Kendrick. We’ll see if The Brian Kendrick can get back on Gentleman Jack Gallagher after this attack.

Good match for what it was and I can’t wait to see what The Brian Kendrick will do to Gentleman Jack Gallagher if they ever meet again.

The backstage segment with Rich Swann and Ariya Daivari by Dasha Fuentes was good. Rich Swann talked about how TJP bloated about his win over him last week and he’s looking to return the favor when he gets another match with TJP next.

As Rich Swann was about to continue, Ariya Daivari came in and told Rich Swann that he’s his opponent next as Rich Swann questioned why as Ariya Daivari told Rich Swann that he should worry more about him than TJP as he left.

It seems like something happened to TJP on this show that he won’t be facing Rich Swann as Ariya Daivari took his place. Either way, I think that’s good as it will build up more tension between the two if they just back off from each other so I appreciate that. Let’s see how Rich Swann Vs. Ariya Daivari will go next. Good backstage segment here.

We then see tweets and pictures from Titus O’Neil and Apollo Crews about Akira Tozawa’s WWE Cruiserweight Championship win as the championship celebration will happen later on the show. Let’s see how the championship celebration will turn out.

Rich Swann Vs. Ariya Daivari was a good match. Originally, it was supposed to be Rich Swann Vs. TJP, but with TJP out, Ariya Daivari took his place and it was good.

The way Rich Swann landed on the ring apron from Ariya Daivari looked like it hurt as he was laid out for a moment. Good work from both men here.

The ending of the match came when Rich Swann was about to hit Ariya Daivari with the corkscrew 450 splash, but TJP came out with crutches on the ramp as Ariya Daivari took advantage and hit a hammerlock lariat on Rich Swann for the pin and win. What TJP did there was not friendly at all as it costed Rich Swann the match so tension is growing between the two and it’s only a matter of time when they face off again once TJP recovers from injury.

Good match and I’m interested to see how this feud between Rich Swann and TJP will continue with TJP being injured.

The backstage interview with The Brian Kendrick by Dasha Fuentes was good. The Brian Kendrick was about to leave the building until Dasha Fuentes came in to interview him about Gentleman Jack Gallagher’s attack on him as The Brian Kendrick said he needs to leave as he wants Gentleman Jack Gallagher to stop attacking him. He then thinks that Gentleman Jack Gallagher wants a duel with him so he wants a duel with Gentleman Jack Gallagher as he left.

I don’t know what The Brian Kendrick is thinking about challenging Gentleman Jack Gallagher to a duel, but it seems like he wants it. Don’t know if it’s the right thing to do, but we’ll see how it goes. Good backstage interview here.

We then see Titus O’Neil dancing with someone backstage as he heads to the ring for the championship celebration for Akira Tozawa. Titus O’Neil looks happy and let’s see how the celebration goes.

The promo segment between Titus O’Neil, Akira Tozawa, and Neville was excellent. Mark out moment! Titus O’Neil was in the ring and he introduced Akira Tozawa to the ring as Akira Tozawa made his way to the ring with the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Titus O’Neil then said that Akira Tozawa made history as beat Neville for the championship as his title reign is no more. Titus O’Neil then let Akira Tozawa speak as he gave Akira Tozawa the mic.

Akira Tozawa talked about how he worked hard to become champion in WWE and it’s all thanks to the WWE Universe. Titus O’Neil then pop a champagne as Akira Tozawa told Titus O’Neil to be easy. Titus O’Neil then said that they’re here to have fun and told Akira Tozawa that he thank him for his work for Titus Worldwide. He then said that Akira Tozawa’s dream and his dream wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for him so he thank him again as they hug in the middle of the ring and started dancing.

Neville then interrupt and said that he was the one that made the WWE Cruiserweight Championship mean something and that Akira Tozawa took that away from him and he plans to get it back at Summerslam. He then told Akira Tozawa that the countdown to his title reign will end at Summerslam as he will get his belt back and finish him. Titus O’Neil then told Neville that he knows what Neville is trying to do as he wants a match against Akira Tozawa, but it won’t work as it will have to wait until Summerslam as it’s about the celebration.

Neville then rushed in the ring, but Akira Tozawa hit a baseball dropkick on him to get him out of the ring. He then tossed Neville to the barricade twice before throwing him back in the ring as he hit an enzuiguri on Neville which caused him to leave the ring. Akira Tozawa then hit a suicide dive on Neville and went back in the ring as he stood tall in the end.

I just love the way Neville reacted in this segment as he looked and sounded depressed after losing the WWE Cruiserweight Championship so that was great from Neville there. Not only that, that suicide dive that Akira Tozawa did to Neville was cool as it had more impact than his other suicide dives. Even though I don’t like the fact that the title changed hands before Summerslam, at least it should be a great match, but they should save Akira Tozawa winning the title at Summerslam if they were planning it.

Excellent promo segment as it makes me excited to see Akira Tozawa Vs. Neville for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at Summerslam even though the match happened on Monday Night Raw and a title change took place.

Overall, good show for the thirty eighth episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
