NXT on September 13, 2017 was a good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Let’s break it down:
We start off the show with Ruby Riot & Nikki Cross Vs. The Iconic Duo was a good women’s tag team match. We got a recap of what happened two weeks ago when Peyton Royce beat Ruby Riot and what happened last week when William Regal offered Ruby Riot a tag team match against The Iconic Duo. However, Ruby Riot was alone for this match until Nikki Cross came in and eventually became Ruby Riot’s partner.
The chemistry between The Iconic Duo continues to grow as they have great chemistry with each other as they isolated Ruby Riot a lot in the match. Even though Ruby Riot and Nikki Cross were partners, they had their own agenda as these two have a bit of a rivalry in the past. Nikki Cross hit a devastating looking swinging fisherman’s neckbreaker on Billie Kay. Good work from all four women here.
The ending of the match came when Ruby Riot hit a diving senton on Billie Kay for the pin and win. Ruby Riot got some revenge on The Iconic Duo thanks to the assist of Nikki Cross, but I think Nikki Cross was all business to herself and I have a feeling that the feud between Ruby Riot and Nikki Cross will reignite, but we’ll see.
Good women’s tag team match and I’m intrigued if NXT is going to continue the Ruby Riot and Nikki Cross feud that never finished.
We then get a recap of what happened last week when God-Gifted Athletes interrupted Johnny Gargano and Johnny Gargano challenged the God-Gifted Athletes for a singles match as they left. This is good as it ties into what happened last week and it will be Johnny Gargano Vs. Riddick Moss coming up next. Let’s see how Riddick Moss will handle Johnny Gargano.
The backstage interview with No Way Jose by Christy St. Cloud was good. No Way Jose talked about how he was impressed that Lars Sullivan can beat three men last week, but he didn’t like how he beat them afterward. He thinks that Lars Sullivan has a screw loose and challenges him to a match next week.
I admire No Way Jose to try to stand up against Lars Sullivan, but I don’t know if he can take down Lars Sullivan. We’ll have to wait and see next week. Good backstage interview here.
Johnny Gargano Vs. Riddick Moss was a good match. After what happened last week when God-Gifted Athletes interrupted Johnny Gargano, it led to this match.
Riddick Moss hit a devastating running back elbow and clothesline on Johnny Gargano while Johnny Gargano tried to overcome the odds as Tino Sabbatelli was helping Riddick Moss in this match. Good work from both men here.
The ending of the match came when Johnny Gargano hit a slingshot spear on Riddick Moss for the pin and win. A good win for Johnny Gargano as he continues to recover from the split of #DIY. I think that Johnny Gargano still has some doubt in him, but we’ll see. Johnny Wrestling!
Good match and I wonder what’s next for Johnny Gargano in NXT.
We then get a vignette of Street Profits as they will be in action next. Along with Heavy Machinery, Street Profits are another tag team to keep an eye so let’s talk about their match next.
Street Profits Vs. The Ealy Brothers was a good tag team match. The Ealy Brothers seem to be heels now, but I don’t think NXT has a direction for them yet so they’re still developing themselves.
The Ealy Brothers got some offense in this match, but Street Profits managed to overcome them as Angelo Dawkins hit a pop-up spinebuster on Uriel Ealy followed by a frog splash from Montez Ford on Uriel Ealy for the pin and win. Street Profits continue to pick wins and I want them to be in a feud so let’s make it happen. Till then, they’re going to party with the NXT Universe as they did after the match.
Good tag team match and I can’t wait to see more of Street Profits.
We then get a video package of highlighting Asuka‘s career in NXT including her first and last speeches in NXT where Ember Moon, Corey Graves, Bayley, Carmella, and Charlotte talked about Asuka and what she has done in NXT. This is good as it shows the career of Asuka and what she meant for NXT for the past two years. Not only that, it also ties into the next segment which I will talk about next.
The backstage interview with William Regal by Christy St. Cloud was good. William Regal talked about how he has a lot in his mind about the NXT Women’s Championship as he’s going to announce it the next few weeks.
It will be interesting to see what William Regal will have to say about the NXT Women’s Championship, but till then, we have to wait and see. Good backstage interview here.
We then get a recap of what happened three weeks ago when Pete Dunne & Wolfgang defeated Moustache Mountain as it will be Pete Dunne Vs. Wolfgang for the WWE United Kingdom Championship coming up next. Nice to see the WWE UK guys being featured more and I can’t wait to see this match so let’s get to it.
We then get an announcement that next week, Aleister Black will be speaking for the first time in NXT. Can’t wait to hear what Aleister Black has to say. Fade to black!
The backstage interview with Wolfgang by Christy St. Cloud was good. Wolfgang talked about how he has pinned the former WWE United Kingdom Champion in Tyler Bate as he’s looking to become WWE United Kingdom Champion as the last king of Scotland.
Wolfgang thinks that he can beat Pete Dunne tonight, but I question if he can get the job done. I guess we’ll see. Good backstage interview here.
The backstage interview with Pete Dunne by Christy St. Cloud was great. Christy St. Cloud asked Pete Dunne about his match against Wolfgang, but Pete Dunne didn’t say a word as he grabbed the end of the WWE United Kingdom Championship and hold it with his mouth as he made his entrance.
I like how Pete Dunne is more about the action than the talk as he can work inside that ring. Let’s talk about the match now. Good backstage interview here.
Pete Dunne Vs. Wolfgang for the WWE United Kingdom Championship was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Both of these two went out there and delivered an excellent match where neither man looked weak in the process.
Wolfgang did excellent in this match as he tried to become the WWE United Kingdom Champion. His somersault dive and second rope moonsault on Pete Dunne were beautifully executed. His pop-up powerslam on Pete Dunne was impressive. Excellent work from Wolfgang here.
Pete Dunne did excellent in this match as well as he tried to retain the WWE United Kingdom Championship. His slingshot DDT on Wolfgang on the ring apron looked devastating. The way he countered Wolfgang’s high-angle senton bomb into an armbar was very innovative. Excellent work from Pete Dunne here.
The ending of the match came when Pete Dunne hit the Bitter End (Pumphandle lift transitioned into a reverse STO) on Wolfgang for the pin and win. A great win for Pete Dunne as he continues to be at the top of the WWE United Kingdom division. I question who could stop Pete Dunne at this point. Will it be Trent Seven, Tyler Bate, Mark Andrews? We’ll have to wait and see. Bruiserweight!
After the match, Adam Cole and reDRagon came into the ring and surrounded Pete Dunne. Pete Dunne was planning to back off, but ended up hitting Kyle O’Reilly as Adam Cole and Bobby Fish attacked Pete Dunne where the three men beat him down. Wolfgang then tried to save Pete Dunne by attacking Kyle O’Reilly, but Adam Cole and Bobby Fish started to beat down Wolfgang as the three men beat him down as well.
Pete Dunne was about to save Wolfgang from the assault, but only grabbed his WWE United Kingdom Championship as he left. Adam Cole then hit a shining wizard on Wolfgang as Adam Cole and reDRagon stood tall over Wolfgang. They then left the ring and went into the back as Moustache Mountain went to check on Wolfgang as they stared off against Adam Cole and reDRagon.
Adam Cole and reDRagon managed to escape from Moustache Mountain, but I have a feeling that the WWE UK guys will get their hands on Adam Cole and reDRagon. I have a feeling that there will be a six-man tag team match between Wolfgang & Moustache Mountain Vs. Adam Cole & reDRagon, but we’ll see.
Excellent match and great post-match as I’m interested to see what NXT has in plan for Adam Cole and reDRagon in the future.
Overall, good show that is building up characters as well as possibly building new feuds and storylines in the near future. Next week, we will get No Way Jose Vs. Lars Sullivan and Aleister Black will be speaking which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
