NXT’s Next Breakout Stars in 2018?: UK

Published

on

Hello everyone, this is Vaude Influence.

It’s about a year since I last did this series, but since the year is almost ending, it’s about time to do this again.

Last year, I did about eleven wrestling companies/countries/nations. This year, I will do ten wrestling companies/countries/nations.

Anyway, enough about that. Let’s get started!

The United Kingdom (UK) has produced some of the best professional wrestlers in the world who are well known with their British technical wrestling style. For the past few years, the British wrestling scene has begun to bloom again with some of the youngest and brightest UK stars that could do well on a national stage.

For the past few years, NXT has picked up some of the best UK talents or talents that have wrestled in the UK scene for years such as Adrian Neville, Finn Balor, Paige, Nikki Cross, Gentleman Jack Gallagher, Noam Dar, Aleister Black, Killian Dain, etc. In addition, with the recent relationship that the company has with ICW and PROGRESS, it’s only going to get bigger and better for both companies to come.

This list won’t contain wrestlers that competed in NXT or the developmental territory of WWE in the past such as Rampage Brown, Joel Redman, etc. so please keep that in mind. Not only that, people such as Trent Seven, Tyler Bate, Pete Dunne, Mark Andrews, Wolfgang, etc. won’t be on this list as they are signed to WWE that allowed them to wrestle in other UK promotions so keep that in mind.

Here’s the list I have about one year ago for NXT’s Next Breakout Stars in 2017?:

UK:

10. Trent Seven

9. Pete Dunne

8. Toni Storm

7. Josh Bodom

6. The Origin

5. Joe Hendry

4. Kay Lee Ray

3. Will Ospreay

2. Jimmy Havoc

1. Marty Scurll

Now, it’s time to see which ten wrestlers from the UK I think NXT will pick up or I want NXT to pick up in 2018.

Honorable Mentions: BT Gunn, Chris Renfrew, Iestyn Rees, Polo Promotions, Kenny Williams, Jordan Devlin, Kenny Williams, Lionheart, The Marauders, Nathan Cruz, Sha Samuels, Stevie Boy, Viper, Dave Mastiff, “Flash” Morgan Webster, El Ligero, Jinny, James Drake, South Pacific Power Couple, WALTER, Ryan Smile

10. Zack Gibson

From Liverpool, England, Zack Gibson is one of the rising stars in the UK wrestling scene as he competed in wrestling companies such as ICW, PROGRESS, RPW, and WCPW.

With eight years of wrestling experience, this man is looking to become the No.1 wrestler in all of Liverpool. With his unique look, his good character, his good charisma, and his great in-ring ability, he could be a great candidate in the NXT Championship picture.

Sometime this year, William Regal went to PROGRESS and had a conversation with Zack Gibson backstage so it seems like NXT does have some interest in Zack Gibson, but it’s up to him to see if he wants to make that move to NXT down the road because he’s Liverpool’s No.1!

9. Mark Haskins

From Oxford, England, Mark Haskins is another rising star of the UK wrestling scence as he came back with a severe back injury as he competed in wrestling companies such as PROGRESS and RPW.

With eleven years of wrestling experience, this man is willing to take risks of his own body to become the star attraction that he is. Even though he doesn’t have the most interesting character or have the best charisma, he’s has an unique look, he has a presence about him every time he’s in the ring, and he’s a great high-flyer that could do well in the NXT Championship picture.

He has competed in Wrestlemania Axxess for WWE earlier this year so it seems like they have some interest in Mark Haskins if they brought him in for Wrestlemania Axxess. It might be a matter of time before we see the star attraction in NXT.

8. Joe Hendry

From Edinburgh, Scotland, Joe Hendry is probably one of the most entertaining wrestlers in the UK wrestling scene today who is very known for his work in ICW and WCPW.

With four years of wrestling experience, this man is going to entertain everyone around the globe sooner or later. With his great look, excellent character, excellent charisma, and solid in-ring ability, he would be a great character in NXT for fans to be entertained by.

I don’t know if NXT is interested in signing Joe Hendry or not, but either way, he’s going to be a star one day and it’s only a matter of time before the whole world see it as he can play either character and make it work.

7. #CCK

Chris Brookes and Kid Lykos of #CCK are one of the rising tag teams in the UK wrestling scene today who are well known in their time in PROGRESS and RPW.

With only a year of experience as a tag team, these two are 2x PROGRESS Tag Team Champions and they’re looking to take the UK tag team scene by storm with their great chemistry, good characters, good charisma, and great in-ring abilities.

WWE does seem to have an interest with Chris Brookes as he had a tryout with WWE earlier this year, but no interest in Kid Lykos as of yet. However, if they’re looking to get a tag team to boost their tag team division, #CCK would be a perfect choice as they can prove that they are the best tag team in the world.

6. Kay Lee Ray

From Glasgow, Scotland, Kay Lee Ray is one of the greatest women’s wrestlers in the UK and possibly the world today who is very known for her work in ICW.

With eight years of wrestling experience, this woman is going to be known around the world for the years to come. With her great look, improved character, improved charisma, and excellent in-ring ability, she would be perfect for the NXT Women’s division.

Two years ago, she made an appearance for NXT in a match against Nia Jax and she competed in the Mae Young Classic this year. So NXT does have some interest in Kay Lee Ray and it’s only going to be a matter of time when this red-haired woman will be on the national stage.

5. Josh Bodom

From Bournemouth, England, Josh Bodom man has been on the rise of the UK wrestling scene as of late as he is well known for his work in RPW.

With six years of wrestling experience, this man is going to be a star on the horizon in the years to come. With his good look, good character, good charisma, and great in-ring ability, he could be great in NXT in singles competition.

Last year, he competed in a qualifying match in RPW for a chance to be in the Cruiserweight Classic, but ended up short as he lost to Noam Dar in a very impressive match. Despite losing his chance to compete in the Cruiserweight Classic, he may get another chance down the line as the man keeps getting better each day. Whether he gets another chance or not, this man is a name to be reckoned with in the future and it’s all for the bodom.

4. Jimmy Havoc

From Kent, England, Jimmy Havoc is one of the most interesting characters in the UK and possibly the world today who is very known for his work in ICW, PROGRESS, and RPW.

With thirteen years of wrestling experience, this suicidal man will do everything it takes to get to the top. With his unique look, excellent character, excellent charisma, and good in-ring ability, he would be a great and interesting character for NXT.

Earlier this year, he competed for Wrestlemania Axxess so it seems like WWE has some interest in him. Whether they get him or not, they will soon know who Jimmy Havoc as you watch him burn.

3. Travis Banks

From Auckland, New Zealand, Travis Banks is another rising star in the UK wrestling scene as he known for his work in PROGRESS, WCPW, and RPW.

With eight years of wrestling experience, this kiwi buzzsaw has fought his way to the top to become what he is today. Even though he lacks an interesting character or doesn’t have the best charisma in the world, he makes it up with his good look, his presence in the ring, and his excellent in-ring ability where he could work in either singles or tag team competition.

Earlier this year, he competed for Wrestlemania Axxess and had a tryout with WWE so it seems like WWE has a lot of interest in him. It’s only a matter of time we see the kiwi buzzsaw in a NXT ring.

2. Toni Storm

From Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, Toni Storm has been on the rise of the UK women’s wrestling scene as of late as she competed in wrestling companies such as PROGRESS.

With seven years of wrestling experience, this woman is going to be a force to be reckoned with and deserved to be known from more people around the globe. With her great look, good character, good charisma, and great in-ring ability, she could be great in the women’s division of NXT.

She recently competed in the Mae Young Classic this year and she had an amazing performance in that tournament where the company seem interested in her. It’s only a matter of time before she gets that call from NXT to get signed from the company.

1. Joe Coffey

From Glasgow, Scotland, Joe Coffey is another rising star in the UK wrestling scene as he is the iron man who is known for his work in ICW and WCPW.

With eight years of wrestling experience, this iron man has fought his way to the top by facing some of the best wrestlers in the world to become the iron man that he is today. With his great look, great presence in and outside of the ring, good character, good charisma, and excellent in-ring ability, this man has it all to become a top guy in the NXT Championship picture.

I don’t know if NXT has interest in him or not, but he has face guys like Trent Seven, Pete Dunne, and Kassius Ohno who are currently NXT stars and has beaten them too so it seems like Joe Coffey may be a future signee for NXT. However, only time will tell if we will see the iron man in NXT.

That is my top ten wrestlers from the UK who I think/want to be in NXT in 2018. Which wrestlers from the UK would you like to see in NXT in 2018? Let me know in the comment section below.
