Ultima Lucha Tres 10/18/17 Review: The End… For Now?

Published

on

Ultima Lucha Tres on October 18, 2017 was an excellent show that had excellent matches and great moments throughout the show as the third season of Lucha Underground has ended. So sad… *Sniff* Anyway, we’ll cry about that later. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a recap of what happened throughout Lucha Underground Season 3 for Dragon Azteca Jr., Matanza, Dario Cueto, Rey Mysterio, Catrina, Cage, Mil Muertes, Jeremiah Crane, Prince Puma, Vampiro, Pentagon Dark, and Johnny Mundo. This is a good way to remind people about what happened during that time in case they missed it or forgot about it. Plus, it’s a great way to show that this is the final show of the season which in a way, makes it very depressing… *Sniff* Anyway, we’ll cry about that later. Well done and well-produced recap.

Dragon Azteca Jr. Vs. Matanza in a steel cage match was great. These two had a long history with each other dating back to earlier this year with their Deathmatch so you expect these two to kill each other in that ring and they did just that.

Dragon Azteca Jr. hit a nice tilt-a-whirl jumping hurricanrana on Matanza. Not only that, he hit a moonsault on Matanza from the top of the cage! Mark out moment! Didn’t expect Dragon Azteca Jr. to do that especially this early in the match. Incredible. Not only that, Matanza hit an overhead belly-to-belly suplex that made Dragon Azteca Jr. through the cage door to the outside! Mark out moment! Wow, never seen the cage door opened like that before or have seen one in a while, that was awesome.

The supposed ending of the match came when Matanza hit the overhead belly-to-belly suplex on Dragon Azteca Jr. through the cage door which made Dragon Azteca Jr. land his feet on the outside. However, Dario Cueto then told Dragon Azteca Jr. that the match will restart and the only way to win is by pinfall or submission. Wow, Dario Cueto is being evil here showing his power and his favor to Matanza. Anyway, let’s continue to talk about the match.

Dragon Azteca Jr. continued to try to fight against Matanza despite being heavily injured as he hit a nice tilt-a-whirl jumping DDT on Matanza. Matanza continued to show how much of a beast he is as he tossed Dragon Azteca Jr. like a ragdoll especially with his swinging German suplex. Great work from both men here.

The ending of the match came when Black Lotus made her return to Lucha Underground and hit a diving crossbody from the top of the cage onto Dragon Azteca Jr.! Mark out moment for her return and that spot! Nice to see her back after getting her arm broken by Pentagon Dark last season. Plus, that dive was sick. Matanza then finished Dragon Azteca Jr. off with the Wrath of the Gods (Spinning reverse scoop powerslam) for the pin and win. A good win for Matanza as he continued to look like a beast.

After the match, Dario Cueto came into the ring and declared Matanza as the winner. As Matanza and Dario Cueto were celebrating, Black Lotus hit a low blow on Matanza followed by a powerbomb as she grabbed Dario Cueto afterward and asking why he lied. Dario Cueto then told Black Lotus that he did lie as Matanza finished Black Lotus off with Wrath of the Gods as Dario Cueto told her that he’s a liar.

Well, Black Lotus finally got the truth and she did get some revenge on Dario Cueto, but in the end, she got destroyed by Matanza and Dario Cueto. I’m interested to see if Black Lotus and Dragon Azteca Jr. can fight back against Matanza and Dario Cueto, but we’ll see.

Great match and great post-match as I want to see if Dragon Azteca Jr. and Black Lotus will get their revenge on Dario Cueto and Matanza.

Cage Vs. Jeremiah Crane Vs. Mil Muertes in a three-way elimination match for the Gauntlet of the Gods was excellent. Mark out moment! Before the match began, Dario Cueto came out of his office and announced that since all three of these men want the gauntlet so bad, he’s going to make sure that there is one winner so he’s going to make it an elimination match.

Oh man, this match got a lot better from here as it’s now an elimination match and anything goes as it’s a three-way match. Going to talk about this match into three parts, so let’s get to it.

The match when all three men were in the ring was excellent. These men went out there and killed each other in that ring in order to get the power of the gauntlet.

Jeremiah Crane did excellent in this match as he tried to get the gauntlet for Catrina. His suicide dive on Cage was beautifully executed. His trash can shot to Cage and Mil Muertes looked painful as heck.

Mil Muertes also did excellent in this match as he also tried to get the gauntlet for Catrina. His diving crossbody to the outside on Cage and Jeremiah Crane was extremely impressive. The way he hit a powerbomb on Jeremiah Crane on the ring apron looked devastating. His tilt-a-whirl headscissors on Cage was extremely impressive.

Cage did excellent in this match as well as he wants to get back the gauntlet that he won for a Unique Opportunity. His pumphandle driver on Mil Muertes looked devastating. His Frankensteiner and middle rope springboard moonsault on Mil Muertes was beautifully executed.

There were several points in this match where it looked insane and questioned how they were able to continue after the punishment they went through. There was a spot in the match where Jeremiah Crane put wooden stacks on top of Cage’s head as he superkick and DDT him with the wooden stacks on his head! Mark out moment! Okay, that was not pretty, but it was also awesome as that is something CZW would definitely do. Glad that Cage was okay because that looked nasty and his head was busted open too.

There was another spot where Mil Muertes tried to hit a spear on Jeremiah Crane, but Jeremiah Crane dodged it and Mil Muertes went through the glass! Mark out moment! Again, also not pretty, but pretty awesome as well. Glad to see Mil Muertes being okay after that because his arm was bleeding afterward. Not only that, there was a spot where Cage hit a superplex on Jeremiah Crane to the outside onto two tables and on top of Mil Muertes! Mark out moment! That was an insane spot. Excellent work from all three men here.

The first elimination came when Cage hit Jeremiah Crane with Weapon X (Gory special transitioned into a reverse STO) for the pin and to eliminate him from the match. Despite Jeremiah Crane being the first one eliminated in this match, he looked excellent in defeat so he had nothing to be ashamed about.

The match between Cage and Mil Muertes was great as they continued the momentum where they left off. Despite the match being a short here, they did what they could with the time they had left so it was enjoyable.

Cage hit a nice spinning diving elbow drop on Mil Muertes which was extremely impressive. Mil Muertes also hit a nice scoop powerslam on Cage. Great work from both of these men here.

The ending of the match came when Jeremiah Crane came back in the ring and hit Cage with a chair, but Cage fought back with a discus clothesline on Jeremiah Crane which led to Mil Muertes taking advantage as he hit a reverse STO on Cage on the chair for the pin and win. Despite Cage losing here, he did everything he could in this match and he looked excellent in defeat so he had nothing to be ashamed of here.

After the match, Dario Cueto came out of his office and brought the gauntlet to Catrina as Catrina retrieved and gave it to Mil Muertes. After that, the lights turned off and King Cuerno made his return as he took out Mil Muertes with a Samoan Driver and took the gauntlet! Mark out moment! Wow, I didn’t expect King Cuerno to return here as I thought he won’t return until Season 4 of Lucha Underground so seeing him was great. I expect from this that we’re going to reignite the feud between King Cuerno and Mil Muertes in Season 4 and if so, it’s going to be awesome.

Excellent elimination match and excellent post-match as I’m looking forward to King Cuerno Vs. Mil Muertes in Season 4 of Lucha Underground if it happens.

The video package created by Taya on Johnny Mundo was great. Taya narrated the career of Johnny Mundo in Lucha Underground as Johnny Mundo talked about why he is the man in Lucha Underground while PJ Black, Jack Evans, Ricky Mundo, and Dario Cueto gave their thoughts on Johnny Mundo.

This video package was very well done and produced as it really highlights who Johnny Mundo is and what he’s about. Will he be able to retain the Lucha Underground Championship against Prince Puma? I guess we’ll find out next. Well produced video package here.

Johnny Mundo Vs. Prince Puma for the Lucha Underground Championship in a Career Vs. Title match was excellent. Mark out moment! These two have a lot of history with each other dating back to the first episode of Lucha Underground in Season 1 so seeing it all come back together was sweet and they delivered an awesome match in the process.

Johnny Mundo did excellent in this match as he did whatever he can to retain the Lucha Underground Championship. His standing moonsault side slam on Prince Puma was beautifully executed.

Prince Puma did excellent in this match as well as he did whatever he could to win the Lucha Underground Championship and keep his career. His double jump shooting star press on Johnny Mundo to the outside was cool to see.

There were several points in this match that had a great moment and there were points in the match where I thought the match was over as both men gave everything they have in this match. There was a part in the match where Prince Puma accidentally took out the referee which led to Worldwide Underground coming in and tried to take out Prince Puma. Taya then brought out another referee to make the count for Johnny Mundo, but Prince Puma managed to kick out as Worldwide Underground started to beat down on the referee and took him out. Taya then threw chairs in the ring as Worldwide Underground were about to finish Prince Puma with the chairs, but Angelico made his return to the temple as he took out Worldwide Underground with a somersault dive to the outside! Mark out moment!

Wow, I didn’t expect Angelico to make his return here so that was awesome and it made sense too since Worldwide Underground were the ones that took out Angelico earlier in the season. Not only that, even the referee got in on the action as he did a somersault dive on Worldwide Underground! Mark out moment! Holy shoot, that was freaking awesome. This is an example of why Lucha Underground is awesome.

There was a spot where Prince Puma hit a springboard 450 splash on Johnny Mundo, but Johnny Mundo kicked out. Wow, Johnny Mundo showed that despite being arrogant and cocky, he is a tough man that will be hard to beat. There were other spots where Johnny Mundo hit a diving corkscrew neckbreaker and hit The End of the World (Split-legged corkscrew moonsault) on Prince Puma, but Prince Puma managed to kick out of both of them. Wow, Prince Puma has a lot of more heart and guts than I expected as he kicked out of Johnny Mundo’s finishers. That was incredible. Excellent work from both men here.

The ending of the match came when Prince Puma hit a 630 senton on Johnny Mundo for the pin and to win the Lucha Underground Championship! Mark out moment! Prince Puma had to crawl and climb back on top of the Lucha Underground Championship and now he did it as he is the first ever 2x Lucha Underground Champion. Congratulations Prince Puma, you earned this and you managed to keep your career as well.

After the match, Dario Cueto came out from his office and congratulated Prince Puma for his win, but it’s not over as Prince Puma is going to be in one more match. He talked about how originally, he wanted one week to promote this match, but rules are meant to be broken as Pentagon Dark has cashed in his Lucha Underground Gift of the Gods Championship. He then announced that it will be Prince Puma Vs. Pentagon Dark for the Lucha Underground Championship, but that’s not all, it will be Career Vs. Career! Mark out moment!

Wow, Dario Cueto just continues to show how evil and great he is by giving us one more match and one of these men whether it’s Prince Puma or Pentagon Dark, will have to leave Lucha Underground. Whoever it may be, they will be missed in Lucha Underground. Anyway, let’s talk about the match.

Prince Puma Vs. Pentagon Dark for the Lucha Underground Championship in a Career Vs. Career match was excellent. Mark out moment! These two had an excellent match between each other at the Cueto Cup Finals and these two delivered another excellent match once again, but this time, a title and their careers are on the line.

Prince Puma did excellent in this match as he tried to retain the Lucha Underground Championship. His somersault dive on Pentagon Dark to the outside was beautifully executed. His front-flip piledriver and fireman’s carry dropped into a roundhouse kick on Pentagon Dark looked devastating. Excellent performance from Prince Puma here.

Pentagon Dark did excellent in this match as well as he tried to become Lucha Underground Champion. His front flip double knee backbreaker on Prince Puma was very innovative. The way he broke Prince Puma’s arm looked painful as heck. His pumphandle half nelson driver on Prince Puma looked devastating. Excellent work from Pentagon Dark here.

The ending of the match came when Prince Puma was about to hit Pentagon Dark with a 630 senton, but Vampiro pulled Pentagon Dark out of the way for Pentagon Dark to hit the package piledriver on Prince Puma for the pin and to win the Lucha Underground Championship! Mark out moment! Yes, finally! It’s about time that Pentagon Dark is finally Lucha Underground Champion as I thought he should have been Lucha Underground Champion since last year in Ultima Lucha Dos. However, he’s champion now so that’s great. Cero Miedo!

After the match, Pentagon Dark and Vampiro celebrated in the ring as Prince Puma looked on being displeased as Pentagon Dark waved goodbye towards Prince Puma as Prince Puma slowly left the temple. Pentagon Dark then cut a promo by saying that he is the new Lucha Underground Champion and this is his temple as he is Pentagon Dark and he has Cero Miedo!

A shame that Prince Puma have to leave Lucha Underground, but according to the match stipulation, he has to leave. Thanks, Prince Puma for everything you have done in Lucha Underground. I hope we see you somewhere else one day worldwide. As for Pentagon Dark, he is now the man in Lucha Underground and that’s great with me. Cero Miedo!

Excellent match and good-post match as Pentagon Dark is the new Lucha Underground Champion and thank you Prince Puma!

The video segment involving Prince Puma, King Cuerno, Sexy Star, The Rabbit Tribe, Mascarita Sagrada, Fenix, Melissa Santos, Catrina, Jeremiah Crane, Daga, Kobra Moon, Drago, Pindar, Vampiro, Matanza, Rey Mysterio, Dario Cueto, and Officer Winter was great. Since this video segment is done by several parts, I will do the same thing here talking each segment and how it could tie in Season 4 of Lucha Underground if it does happen.

We see Prince Puma slowly walking away from the temple as he took off his mask and dropped it on the ground as he left. With this footage right here, I think it’s safe to say that Prince Puma is pretty much done with Lucha Underground. At least the character it seems. Granted, there might be a chance where Ricochet may come back to Lucha Underground as a different character, but it seems like he’s done for the company for the time being and I wish nothing, but the best for Prince Puma or Ricochet.

We then see King Cuerno in his trophy room as he got the gauntlet sealed in a glass. This will probably set up Mil Muertes Vs. King Cuerno at Season 4 of Lucha Underground where Mil Muertes is looking to get back the gauntlet from King Cuerno while King Cuerno looks to get revenge on Mil Muertes for taking him out for over a year in their Deathmatch at Ultima Lucha Dos. If it happens, it’s going to be great.

We then see Sexy Star doing a press conference as a little girl came in and gave Sexy Star a box where she told Sexy Star that she hasn’t forgotten about her as the little girl left. Sexy Star then opened the box which contained a spider as she began to shout. So it seems like Veneno isn’t the person that was sending Sexy Star those spiders. So who could it be then? That is something that must happen at Season 4 of Lucha Underground if they’re doing another season. However, with the bad reputation that Sexy Star has gotten for the past few months, it’s hard to say if she’ll come back or not. Maybe they can continue this storyline by having the spider person take out Sexy Star forever and that’s why she won’t appear in Season 4. It’s just an idea. However, I can’t say that this intrigues me.

We then see The Rabbit Tribe worshipping Mascarita Sagrada as Mascarita Sagrada told The Rabbit Tribe that he is not the white rabbit, but he knows where it is as he ran off with The Rabbit Tribe following him. So if Season 4 of Lucha Underground does happen, we’ll finally see the reveal of the white rabbit. What’s so special about the white rabbit? If Season 4 does happen, I hope we get the answer to that.

We then see Fenix and Melissa Santos leaving in their car as Catrina was walking behind them as they took off while Jeremiah Crane was watching them from above on top of a roof. It seems to me like they’re going for Fenix & Melissa Santos Vs. Jeremiah Crane & Catrina in Season 4 of Lucha Underground if it happens. That would be a nice and interesting feud if it does happen, but I want to see why they’re going for this feud. Hopefully, we’ll get it if Season 4 happens.

We then see Daga in Kobra Moon’s palace as she tied Drago next to her as Pindar is locked up. Kobra Moon told Daga that he should take his place as king as Daga agreed with Kobra Moon as Daga cut Pindar’s head off with a sword as Drago looked in fear. Oh my god, Daga is back in Lucha Underground! Mark out moment! I wonder why they didn’t makeup show in this season’s Lucha Underground until now. So that’s why the storyline between Kobra Moon and Daga happened. It’s because Kobra Moon wanted Daga to be the king and she succeeded. Also, poor Pindar. Rest in peace. You better make sure to follow Kobra Moon and Daga, Drago, or else you’re dead. Would definitely like to see where this storyline will go if Season 4 happens.

We then see Vampiro in his lair as he was talking to his master as he told him that he got rid of Prince Puma where the master thanked Vampiro for his work as they both disappear afterward. We finally got to see the master of Vampiro, but who is he actually? Why does he want Prince Puma gone? If Season 4 happens, these questions must be answered.

We then see Matanza and Rey Mysterio both locked up in their cells as they stared at each other from across. Well, it seems like Rey Mysterio is alive after what Matanza did to him so we’re probably going to get Rey Mysterio Vs. Matanza again on Season 4 of Lucha Underground if it happens. I’m fine with that since their first match was fun to watch so I’m down with this feud continuing.

We then see Dario Cueto in his office with Officer Winter as they have a drink with each other. Dario Cueto told Officer Winter that he will get the gauntlet back as Officer Winter told him not to worry as he will be dead. Officer Winter then pulled out a gun and shot him. After he shot Dario Cueto, he told him that new management will take care of getting the gauntlet back and will fix all of his mistakes as he thanked Dario Cueto and left. Dario Cueto then regained consciousness after being shot for a little while and he tried to make a phone call as he spoke on the phone with the little life he has left by saying, “Papa, I need your help” before passing away.

No, they have killed Dario Cueto! Why?! He was one of the best characters in Lucha Underground and now he’s dead! Dang you Officer Winter! In all seriousness, Dario Cueto kind of had it coming with the bad management decisions he has made which led him to his death. It’s sad, but he kind of deserved it. It seemed like right before Dario Cueto died, he was talking to his father so it’s possible that we might see Dario Cueto’s father in Lucha Underground for Season 4 if it happens. If so, I don’t know if he will be great as Dario Cueto, but having someone represent Dario Cueto would be nice since Dario Cueto is now dead. I wonder who the new management will be and I wonder if we’ll get to see Dario Cueto’s father in the temple. Hopefully, we will get to see it if Season 4 of Lucha Underground happens. Make it happen!

Great video segment to end the show as we get “To Be Continued” so hopefully, Season 4 will happen.

Overall, an excellent show that had excellent matches and great moments throughout the whole show. Now, do I think Ultima Lucha Tres is better than Ultima Lucha and Ultima Lucha Dos? In my opinion, I thought Ultima Lucha Tres was not better than Ultima Lucha and Ultima Lucha Dos as it did not have more excellent matches and memorable moments compared to Ultima Lucha and Ultima Dos. However, all of those shows were still excellent in their own way and I suggest to watch all of them if you guys haven’t already yet as those shows are worthy of your time so please, go watch them, you won’t be disappointed. Well, this is it, no more Lucha Underground as there might be no Season 4, but we can only hope. It was fun while it lasted and it was a pretty good season this season, but it’s sad that there’s no more Lucha Underground if Season 4 isn’t announced. *Sniff* If you haven’t already, please check out Lucha Underground. It’s a great alternative to the mainstream wrestling and you won’t be disappointed. See you all again for Season 4 of Lucha Underground if it happens, till then, it’s been fun and see you all then. Lucha! Lucha! Lucha! Lucha!
