NXT’s Next Breakout Stars in 2018?: EVOLVE

Published

on

EVOLVE is one of the most well known independent wrestling companies in the United States today as it’s well known for its technical wrestling and they’re a huge part of the WWN Family. It was about two years ago that EVOLVE began a relationship with NXT and they produced great results of it that benefited both companies.

For the past two years, NXT has picked up some wrestlers who are well known for their time in EVOLVE such as Apollo Crews, Kalisto, Johnny Gargano, Drew Gulak, Tony Nese, and etc. It’s only a matter of time when WWE is planning to sign more talent from EVOLVE if they want to continue their relationship with EVOLVE as well as backing them when needed.

This list won’t contain wrestlers that competed in NXT or the developmental territory of WWE in the past so please keep that in mind.

Here’s the list I have about one year ago for NXT’s Next Breakout Stars in 2017?:

EVOLVE:

5. Tracy Williams

4. Timothy Thatcher

3. Ethan Page

2. Matt Riddle

1. Zack Sabre Jr.

Now, it’s time to see which five wrestlers from EVOLVE I think NXT will pick up or I want NXT to pick up in 2018.

Honorable Mentions: ACH, Work Horsemen, Austin Theory, Doom Patrol, Darby Allin, Jason Kincaid, Timothy Thatcher

5. Fred Yehi

From Atlanta, Georgia, Fred Yehi is a rising star in EVOLVE who is well known for his excellent technical wrestling skills in the ring.

With five years of wrestling experience, this bonafide of a man is only going to keep getting better as he’s his own man now. Even though he lacks character and charisma, the man has a good look and he’s an excellent technical wrestler that could do well in NXT in either singles or tag team competition.

Late this year, WWE has shown an interest in Fred Yehi as he also competed in a qualifying match for the Cruiserweight Classic last year, but ended up losing. It’s only a matter of time when we see the resurrector of wrestling in an NXT ring.

4. Tracy Williams

From New York City, New York, Tracy Williams is a rising star in EVOLVE who is well known for his excellent technical wrestling skills in the ring.

With nine years of wrestling experience, this hot sauce of a man is only going to get better as time goes on. Even though he lacks character and charisma, he has a unique look and he’s an excellent technical wrestler that could do well in the NXT Championship picture.

He competed in a qualifying match in EVOLVE for a chance to be in the Cruiserweight Classic last year, but ended up short as he lost to Drew Gulak in a very impressive match. Even though Tracy Williams lost his chance to compete in the Cruiserweight Classic, he may get another shot since there must be a reason why he was chosen to be in a qualifying match for the Cruiserweight Classic this year. Despite lacking character and charisma, him getting signed could benefit him a lot as he could go to the Performance Center and developed a character there. Whether he gets another chance or not, this man is on a rise and he’s only going to get better from here. Catch Point!

3. Zack Sabre Jr.

From Isle of Sheppey, Kent, England, Zack Sabre Jr. is one of the best technical wrestlers in the world who is well known for his work in EVOLVE.

With fifteen years of wrestling experience, this technical wizard is here to show the world that he has more tricks up his sleeve and he doesn’t mind showing it to the wrestling world. Even though he lacks character and charisma, he has a good look and he’s an excellent technical wrestler in the ring which he would do great in the NXT Championship picture.

Last year, he have competed in the Cruiserweight Classic and it seemed like WWE were interested to signing him. However, Zack Sabre Jr. decided not to sign the contract as he had personal obligations that he wants to fulfill in wrestling. Despite not signing a full-time WWE contract, I could see Zack Sabre Jr. signing an NXT contract similar to what Samoa Joe, Johnny Gargano, and Tommaso Ciampa had before they sign full-time contracts where he gets to be in NXT when needed and gets to compete in the UK and the independent circuit as well. It’s a long shot, but whatever the case might be, Zack Sabre Jr. would show his technical skills if he got signed to NXT.

2. Keith Lee

From Wichita Falls, Texas, Keith Lee is slowly becoming one of the top guys in EVOLVE today who is well known his hybrid style of wrestling.

With twelve years of wrestling experience, this man is like Godzilla as he will destroy anyone in his bask of glory. Even though he doesn’t have the greatest character and charisma in the world, he has a unique look and he’s an excellent wrestler in any style he wrestles in where he could be perfect for the NXT Championship picture.

I don’t know if NXT is interested in him or not, but if they’re looking for a big heavyweight to compete in their NXT Championship picture, Keith Lee is the perfect guy for the job. Unfortunately, his look may not look well on TV, but Kassius Ohno wasn’t in the best shape either as he was able to re-sign with NXT later so the same could be said with Keith Lee. Either way, whether he gets signed by NXT or not, Keith Lee is going to be a name to be reckoned with.

1. Matt Riddle

From Allentown, Pennsylvania, Matt Riddle is another rising star in EVOLVE who is slowly turning to be the face of the company who is well known for his overall package that is becoming better each and every month.

With only two years of wrestling experience, this former UFC fighter is showing the world that he can either tap or knock someone out. With his unique look, good character, great charisma, and great in-ring ability, he would do great in the NXT Championship picture.

For the past two years, WWE has an interest in him as they were the ones that brought him in EVOLVE in the first place for training and at one point, William Regal came to EVOLVE and told Matt Riddle that he will get an NXT contract once he wins the EVOLVE Championship so it shows that WWE has very high hopes for this guy and I don’t blame them as he’s getting better each month he wrestles. It’s only a matter of time when this former UFC fighter makes people tap out and pass out in NXT. Bro!

That is my top five wrestlers from EVOLVE who I think/want to be in NXT in 2018. Which wrestlers from EVOLVE would you like to see in NXT in 2018? Let me know in the comment section below.
