205 Live 10/24/17 Review: Get Screwed Over Once Again

205 Live on October 24, 2017, was a good show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package showing what happened on TLC where Enzo Amore defeated Kalisto to regain the WWE Cruiserweight Championship. This is good as it shows what happened on TLC for those who have missed it or forgot about it. Well produced video package here.

Cedric Alexander & Rich Swann Vs. Tony Nese & Noam Dar was a good tag team match. This was a good tag team match that showcased the potential tag team of Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann where they worked pretty well together. Not only that, even Gentleman Jack Gallagher and The Brian Kendrick were watching from the ramp as their feud is still likely ongoing.

Tony Nese and Noam Dar got some nice offense on Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann as they began to work down on Rich Swann throughout most of the match. Rich Swann hit a nice spin kick, a nice tilt-a-whirl headscissors from the ring apron to the outside, and he hit a nice middle rope corkscrew senton to the outside on Tony Nese. Cedric Alexander hit a devastating back handspring roundhouse kick on Noam Dar that knocked him out for a little while. Good work from both teams here.

The ending of the match came when Cedric Alexander hit a Lumbar Check (Belly-to-back suplex into double knee backbreaker) on Noam Dar for the pin and win for his team. A good win for Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann as they continued to work well as a tag team.

After the match, Gentleman Jack Gallagher got a mic as well as The Brian Kendrick where Gentleman Jack Gallagher said to Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann that they wanted peace between them. The Brian Kendrick then told Cedric Alexander that what he did to him and Gentleman Jack Gallagher was cruel and he has tons of potential to be a big star as long as he’s not around Rich Swann who is holding him down.

Gentleman Jack Gallagher then told Cedric Alexander that he was in the same position as he was until he realized that he doesn’t need the people because he has the cruelty to make it far and he’s going to show that to Rich Swann next week. The Brian Kendrick then told Cedric Alexander that he should make a decision as soon as possible or else they’ll do it for him.

It seems like The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher are trying to recruit Cedric Alexander to join them, but I don’t know if it will work on Cedric Alexander. We’ll see what happens when the time comes.

Good tag team match and good post-promo as I’m intrigued on how Cedric Alexander will respond to The Brian Kendrick’s and Gentleman Jack Gallagher’s request.

Gran Metalik Vs. Drew Gulak was a great match. As Drew Gulak was making his entrance, we see a recap of what happened two weeks ago when Drew Gulak took out Akira Tozawa. This is good as it shows what happened two weeks ago. Drew Gulak then cut a promo by saying that his PowerPoint Presentation was cut off at TLC due to the power of authority won’t let him speak his mind. He then said that he took it upon himself to make 205 Live better by trying to take out Akira Tozawa for his chants. He then said that there will be no matches because he’s going to continue his PowerPoint Presentation from the very beginning! Mark out moment!

Okay, yeah, it may be silly, but I really enjoyed Drew Gulak’s PowerPoint Presentation as I find it entertaining so it’s cool to start from the beginning even though I wanted to see the new slides. He then restarted his PowerPoint Presentation with Slide #1 where there is no jumping off the top rope. As Drew Gulak was about to continue, Gran Metalik made his entrance and the match was on. God dang it Gran Metalik, I want to see the whole PowerPoint Presentation! Anyway, let’s talk about the match itself.

Gran Metalik was great in this match as he showcased his lucha libre style in the ring which violated Drew Gulak’s #1 rule of his PowerPoint Presentation with no jumping off the top rope. His springboard front missile dropkick, his springboard moonsault to the side, his springboard splash, and his Frankensteiner on Drew Gulak were perfectly executed. Drew Gulak did great too as he tried to ground down Gran Metalik at every point in the match. Great work from both men here.

The ending of the match came when Gran Metalik was about to finish Drew Gulak off with a Samoan Driver, but Drew Gulak countered it with the dragon sleeper with bodyscissors to make Gran Metalik tap out for the win. A good win for Drew Gulak as he continues to make a better 205 Live.

After the match, Drew Gulak was to break the leg of Gran Metalik, but Akira Tozawa came in to make the save as he took out Drew Gulak with a corkscrew roundhouse kick as Drew Gulak stared on towards Akira Tozawa as Akira Tozawa checked on Gran Metalik.

Well, Akira Tozawa is back after being attacked by Drew Gulak two weeks ago and he looks to settle the score with Drew Gulak once and for all. Can’t wait to see when these two lock up in the ring. Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!

Great match and good post-match as I’m looking forward to seeing Akira Tozawa getting his revenge on Drew Gulak.

The backstage interview with Kalisto by Dasha Fuentes was good. Kalisto talked about how his dream came true when he won the WWE Cruiserweight Championship, but that dream was ruined once Enzo Amore took the championship from him at TLC. He then said that he will beat Enzo Amore to get back his WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

Kalisto was effective here in this backstage interview without botching his lines so that’s good. It may be a simple promo, but it was effective and it looks like Kalisto is getting ready to get back his WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Let’s see if he can do it. Good backstage interview here.

Enzo Amore Vs. Kalisto for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship was a good match. As Enzo Amore was making his entrance, Ariya Daivari was accompanying him as he did the talking for Enzo Amore as Enzo Amore couldn’t talk. Ariya Daivari talked about how Enzo Amore made 205 Live and the cruiserweight division better as being associated with him will increase his bank account. He then said that Kalisto will never get the championship back and there’s only one word to describe him and that is S-A-W-F-T, SAWFT!

Wow, I didn’t expect Enzo Amore to not talk, but him talking does sometimes get him pops so the best way to not make people cheer for him is not speak so that’s great in their part. Anyway, let’s talk about the match itself.

The way Enzo Amore threw Kalisto over the top rope to the floor looked devastating as Kalisto hit face first on the floor. Kalisto hit a devastating rolling Death Valley Driver on Enzo Amore on the ring apron. Good work from both men here.

The ending of the match came when Kalisto was about to hit a top rope move, but Enzo Amore kicked the referee in the shin that made Kalisto lost his balance. With the referee being attacked by Enzo Amore, the referee disqualified Enzo Amore to make Kalisto the winner, but Enzo Amore is still WWE Cruiserweight Championship. Whether you like Enzo Amore or not, he is smart and he took advantage of the opportunity to remain champion by any means necessary.

After the match, Kalisto began to attack Enzo Amore multiple times before more referees came in and pulled Kalisto away. Enzo Amore then grabbed his mic and said that he still WWE Cruiserweight Champion as Kalisto looked on with disgust and frustration.

Don’t blame Kalisto for being frustrated here as he did get screwed over once again. I don’t know if Kalisto will get another shot against Kalisto, but I expect Kalisto to make Enzo Amore’s life miserable until he gets another shot. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Good match and I’m interested to see if Kalisto will get another match against Enzo Amore for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship.

Overall, good show for the forty-eighth episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
