Published

on

Mae Young Classic Episodes 1 to 4 were good shows. Mae Young Classic will showcase 32 women’s wrestlers from around the world compete in a single elimination tournament in order to become the best women’s wrestler in the world. I’ll be reviewing all four episodes into one review. Let’s break it down:

Episode 1 of the Mae Young Classic starts off the show with a video package showing the history of women’s wrestling from the past to the current with the participants of the Mae Young Classic. This was good as it shows the importance of women’s wrestling and the wrestlers that made women’s wrestling to what it is today. Very well produced video package.

Now, before I talk about the show itself, I have to talk about the presentation for this show. The presentation for this show is fantastic. It feels very different from you what you have seen in WWE Raw, WWE Smackdown, and even NXT and 205 Live in that matter. I like how all of the women in the tournament are being featured in the intro of the show which is nice to see.

The commentary team for this show consists of Jim Ross and Lita. Mark out moment for both! Not a bad commentary team here where Jim Ross is a legend when it comes to commentary and Lita is one of the best women’s wrestlers ever. The chemistry they have was not bad, but could have been a lot better, but we’ll see as the shows go on. Good commentary team.

Also, I love the graphics of the show as it looks like SHIMMER’s graphics which was cool to see. Plus, I love how before each match, a promo package was given for every wrestler to talk about who they are and so forth which is nice as some people may not know about these guys so that is great. Plus, the ring looks awesome as it reminds me of a Shine ring. Nice touch there as I hope that a relationship with SHIMMER and Shine is in the works. Great presentation for the show overall. Before we get to the matches, we need to talk about the wrestlers who are in the tournament.

We then get a vignette about Princesa Sugehit and it was good. Princesa Sugehit talked about how she got her name in wrestling with Princesa coming from the only female who trained in the gym that she went to is her and Sugehit being the queen of the stars. She then talked about how she’s happy that she’s representing Mexico in this tournament and she plans to win it all.

Princesa Sugehit is known for her work in CMLL as she is one of the top women’s wrestlers in lucha libre today. Mark out moment for Princesa Sugehit being in the Mae Young Classic! Great to see her in this tournament and I’m pretty sure she’ll have an impressive showing in this tournament.

We then get a vignette about Kay Lee Ray and it was good. Kay Lee Ray talked about how she is a hardcore daredevil and is willing to take risks to get victories.

Kay Lee Ray is known for her work in ICW, Stardom, and SHIMMER as she is one of the best women’s wrestlers in the UK today. Mark out moment for Kay Lee Ray being in the Mae Young Classic! Great to see her in this tournament and she’s going to go far.

Princesa Sugehit Vs. Kay Lee Ray was a great match. Before the match, both women shook hands where Princesa Sugehit was hesitant to shake Kay Lee Ray, but ended up shaking it. I really like when they do these handshakes as it could indicate whether the wrestler is a face or a heel and also shows their character as well so nice touch there.

I have watched Princesa Sugehit in CMLL so I know what she’s capable of inside the ring as she showcased her lucha libre style. Her sunset flip powerbomb on Kay Lee Ray was well executed. Great performance from Princesa Sugehit here.

I have seen Kay Lee Ray’s work in ICW, Stardom, and SHIMMER so I know what she’s capable inside that ring as she showed her daredevil risk-taking moves. Her Gory Bomb on Princesa Sugehit looked devastating. Great performance from Kay Lee Ray here.

Princesa Sugehit wins this match with a Fujiwara armbar and after the match, the referee grabs both Princesa Sugehit’s and Kay Lee Ray’s hand as he raises Princesa Sugehit’s hand and declares her the winner. It’s cool to see that they’re doing the same type of format like the CWC and UKCT with the ending there which I personally like so it’s good to see that they did it again here.

Great match and with that, Princesa Sugehit moves on to the second round of the Mae Young Classic.

We then get a vignette about Vanessa Borne and it was good. Vanessa Borne talked about how no one is like her and that she knows she’s good because she wants to be the best and is going to prove in this tournament.

Vanessa Borne is a trainee at the Performance Center and has competed in NXT for a few times so this is her chance to show what she’s capable of. Let’s see how she does.

We then get a vignette about Serena Deeb and it was good. Serena Deeb talked about how she started her training in WWE developmental as she wants to become the best women’s wrestler in the world as she was a part of the Straight Edge Society back in 2010, but that opportunity was cut short after her use of alcohol which got her fired from the company. She then said that this is her chance to redeem herself.

Serena Deeb is known for her work in SHIMMER as she has made her return to wrestling in this tournament. Mark out moment for Serena Deeb being in this tournament! Didn’t see her coming back into wrestling after she retired two years ago. Don’t know if she will win this tournament, but great to see her back in wrestling.

We then see Naomi in the crowd! Mark out moment! Cool to see Naomi on this show as it shows how much this tournament means as a former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion is here watching. Alright, back to the match itself.

Vanessa Borne Vs. Serena Deeb was a good match. Before the match, both women shook hands.

From what I have seen from Vanessa Borne in NXT, she has a ton of potential and she proved it in this match as she showed some athletic ability. Her corkscrew neckbreaker and Samoan Drop on Serena Deeb were well executed. Good performance from Vanessa Borne here.

I have seen Serena Deeb’s work in OVW, FCW, WWE, and SHIMMER so I know what she is capable of inside that ring as she didn’t show much ring rust despite not wrestling for two years. Her fireman’s carry single knee gutbuster on Vanessa Borne was a nice homage to CM Punk’s Go To Sleep as her being a part of the Straight Edge Society so that was cool. Good performance from Serena Deeb here.

Serena Deeb wins this match with a spear and after the match, the referee grabs both Serena Deeb’s and Vanessa Borne’s hand as she raises Serena Deeb’s hand and declares her the winner.

Good match and with that, Serena Deeb moves on to the second round of the Mae Young Classic.

We then get a vignette about Zeda and it was good. Zeda talked about how she was bullied as a kid and that she had no one to looked up to, but then she started to do martial arts in order to try to become the superhero that she wants. She talked about how she has a training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and that she shouldn’t be underestimated because she knows how to fight.

Zeda is a trainee at the Performance Center and has been training in NXT since the beginning of this year. Not only that, she is representing China so mark out moment for a Chinese women’s wrestler to be in the Mae Young Classic! I’m interested to see how well she does in this tournament.

We then get a vignette about Shayna Baszler and it was good. Shayna Baszler talked about how she worked in UFC and does MMA for sixteen years as she was one of the best women’s fighters in MMA during her time. She then talked about how her fighting style is similar to her MMA style expect she’s adapting to the rules of wrestling into her wrestling. She then ends it off by saying that at the end of the match, people will believe that she’s a bad*ss in that ring.

Shayna Baszler is known for her work in SHIMMER and her time in the UFC. Mark out moment for Shayna Baszler being in the Mae Young Classic! I expect her to go far in this tournament as she has the dominance to do so.

Shayna Baszler Vs. Zeda was a good match. We see Ronda Rousey, Marina Shafir, and Jessamyn Duke at ringside! Mark out moment for those three being in attendance! Of course, they’re there to support their buddy Shayna Baszler so that’s no surprise, but nice to see the full Four Horsewomen in the WWE. Before the match, Zeda extended her hand towards Shayna Baszler, but Shayna Baszler backed off as the match began. Even though the crowd may not like that, it shows character and personality of Shayna Baszler as she’s all business for herself so that’s nice to see.

This was Zeda’s first match on television so she had to make a big impression for herself and I think she did so in this match. The way she tried to take Shayna Baszler down at every point in the match was smart on her part as she shouldn’t want Shayna Baszler to get on the offense on her. Good work from Zeda here.

I have seen Shayna Baszler’s work in SHIMMER so I know how dominant she is when she gets in that ring as she displayed that dominance in this match. The way she went for so many submissions in this match made her dangerous as she went for many strikes towards Zeda as well. Good work from Shayna Baszler here.

Shayna Baszler wins this match with a vertical suplex transitioned to a rear naked choke on Zeda and after the match, the referee grabs both Shayna Baszler’s and Zeda’s hand as he raises Shayna Baszler’s hand and declares her the winner.

Good match and with that, Shayna Baszler moves on to the second round of the Mae Young Classic.

We then get a vignette about Jazzy Gabert and it was good. Jazzy Gabert talked about how that she had to fight hard to get where she is today and when she gets in the ring, she becomes a demon. She then said that she picks up women and throws them around like little girls as she’s not here to have fun, but to bring total destruction.

Jazzy Gabert is known for her work in wXw and Stardom as Alpha Female as she’s one of the most dangerous women’s wrestlers in the world today. Mark out moment for Jazzy Gabert for being in the Mae Young Classic! I can see her going far in the tournament.

We then get a vignette about Abbey Laith and it was good. Abbey Laith talked about how Mae Young inspired her to be a wrestler and her move was passed down to her as she doesn’t back down from anyone. She then talked about how she has a striking style and will do whatever it takes to win as her dream to become the first winner of the Mae Young Classic.

Abbey Laith is known for her work in Chikara and SHIMMER as Kimber Lee as she is one of the rising stars in women’s wrestling today. Mark out moment for Abbey Laith being in the Mae Young Classic! I can see her doing well in this tournament.

Abbey Laith Vs. Jazzy Gabert was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Before the match, both women shook hands, but Jazzy Gabert pulled Abbey Laith towards her before letting go. Man, that shows you how dangerous and scary Jazzy Gabert can be inside that ring. Not only that, it shows character too so that’s nice.

I have seen Jazzy Gabert’s work before in wXw and Stardom so I know how dangerous she can be inside that ring and she showed it here. Her lariat to Abbey Laith looked devastating and her strikes towards Abbey Laith looked vicious. Excellent work from Jazzy Gabert here.

I have seen Abbey Laith’s work in Chikara, SHIMMER, and NXT to know what she’s capable of and she proved herself against the dangerous Jazzy Gabert. Her high-angle senton bomb on Jazzy Gabert was beautifully executed. Excellent work from Abbey Laith here.

Abbey Laith wins this match with an Alligator Clutch (Double leg trap rana) and after the match, the referee grabs both Abbey Laith’s and Jazzy Gabert’s hand as he raises Abbey Laith’s hand and declares her the winner. Jazzy Gabert then confronted Abbey Laith, but ended up shaking Abbey Laith’s hand and hugged for sportsmanship. That’s very nice for Jazzy Gabert to do after a tough match against Abbey Laith. A shame that she has to go, but she put up a performance and hopefully she’ll get signed in the future.

Excellent match and with that, Abbey Laith moves on to the second round of the Mae Young Classic.

We then get highlights of the first four first-round matches as Princesa Sugehit, Serena Deeb, Shayna Baszler, and Abbey Laith moved on to the second round. On Episode 2, we’ll get Sarah Logan Vs. Mia Yim, Mercedes Martinez Vs. Xia Li, Miranda Salinas Vs. Rhea Ripley, and Marti Belle Vs. Rachel Evers. Alright, let’s talk about Episode 2!

Episode 2 of the Mae Young Classic start off the show with highlights of Episode 1 of the Mae Young Classic as well as hyping up Xia Li Vs. Mercedes Martinez, Marti Belle Vs. Rachel Evers, Rhea Ripley Vs. Miranda Salinas, and Mia Yim Vs. Sarah Logan. This is good as it shows what happened on Episode 1 and hyping up the matches for Episode 2 so let’s get to it!

We then get a vignette about Xia Li and it was good. Xia Li talked about how she is happy that she’s going to fighting in front of the WWE fans as she has trained in Kung Fu and Sanda which are Chinese Mixed Martial Arts. She then said that she wants to display that talent to the WWE fans.

Xia Li is a trainee at the Performance Center and have been training in NXT since the beginning of this year. Not only that, she is representing China so mark out moment for another Chinese women’s wrestler to be in the Mae Young Classic! I’m interested to see how well she does in this tournament.

We then get a vignette about Mercedes Martinez and it was good. Mercedes Martinez talked about how it’s about time that the world knows who Mercedes Martinez is as she has been wrestling her whole life for this moment. She then said that Xia Li’s first match will be her only match as she is here to prove that her hard work pays off and will do anything to achieve it.

Mercedes Martinez is known for her work in SHIMMER, Shine, and WSU as she is one of the veterans of women’s wrestling. Mark out moment for Mercedes Martinez for being in the Mae Young Classic! I’m glad that she’s finally going to showcase herself to the world and I hope she does well in this tournament.

Mercedes Martinez Vs. Xia Li was a good match. Before the match, Mercedes Martinez made fun of Xia Li before trying to shake her hand and pulled her hand away. Mercedes Martinez making fun of Xia Li for being inexperienced, but Xia Li might surprise her, but I understand her attitude towards her.

This was Xia Li’s first match not only on television, but in wrestling period so she has to showcase a lot of herself here and I think she did well for herself. Her kicks to Mercedes Martinez looked devastating especially her corkscrew roundhouse kick. Her superwoman punch on Mercedes Martinez was well executed. Good performance from Xia Li here.

I have seen Mercedes Martinez’s work in SHIMMER, Shine, and WSU before I know what she’s capable in that ring and she really helped Xia Li shine in this match while also making herself look good in the process. Her spinebuster on Xia Li looked devastating. Good performance from Mercedes Martinez here.

Mercedes Martinez wins this match with a surfboard transitioned into a dragon sleeper on Xia Li and after the match, the referee grabs both Mercedes Martinez’s and Xia Li’s hand as she raises Mercedes Martinez’s hand and declares her the winner.

Good match and with that, Mercedes Martinez moves on to the second round of the Mae Young Classic to face Princesa Sugehit which should be a good match.

Rachel Evers is known for her work in QOC and Shine as Rachael Ellering and has competed in NXT a few times now as she is one of the rising stars in women’s wrestling today. Mark out moment for Rachel Evers being in this tournament! Hope she does well even though I don’t think she’s going to win.

We then get a vignette about Marti Belle and it was good. Marti Belle talked about how her parents were from the Dominican Republic and how when she moved to New York, she didn’t know any English, but that is how she became the person she is today. She then talked about how she lives her own life and she will show people what a powerful Dominican Republic woman looks like.

Marti Belle is known for her work in SHIMMER, Shine, and WSU as well as TNA in the name of Marti Bell as she is one of the most charismatic women’s wrestlers in wrestling today. Mark out moment for Marti Belle for being in this tournament! Even though I don’t see Marti Belle winning this tournament, I’m hoping that she does well.

Marti Belle Vs. Rachel Evers was an average match. Before the match, both women shook hands, but Marti Belle wiped her hand off on her thigh after the handshake. Again, showing character and personality there which is nice to see so props to Marti Belle on that.

I have seen Rachel Evers’ work in Shine and NXT so I know what she’s capable of the ring, but she didn’t showcase that in this match. She did hit a nice back springboard leg drop and running senton on Marti Belle, but all of her other big moves were kind of botched which is unfortunate to see. Rachel Evers did try though, I give her that.

I have seen Marti Belle’s work in SHIMMER, Shine, WSU, and TNA so I know what she can do in the ring, she didn’t get to show that in this match as she seemed very nervous. She did play her character well and showed charisma in this match. Other than that, her moves were not executed well and she seemed lost from time to time. I think that Marti Belle was nervous in this match, but she did what she could.

Rachel Evers wins this match with a small package on Marti Belle and after the match, the referee grabs both Rachel Evers’ and Marti Belle’s hand as she raises Rachel Evers’ hand and declares her the winner.

Average match and with that, Rachel Evers moves on to the second round of the Mae Young Classic to face Abbey Laith which should be an interesting match.

Nice to see Triple H showing support for the women here so that’s nice to see. The tournament has been great so far and I can’t wait to see more.

Rhea Ripley is known for her work in RCW as Demi Bennett. I also don’t know much about her, but let’s see what she can do in the ring.

Rhea Ripley Vs. Miranda Salinas was a good match. Before the match, Rhea Ripley extended her hand towards Miranda Salinas, but Miranda Salinas until a little while later. Nice to see some kind of character with Miranda Salinas so that’s a plus.

This is the first time I have seen Miranda Salinas in action and I have to say that she did pretty well for herself as she showcased her character and skills in the ring. The way she displayed her character with her pushing around Rhea Ripley despite being small was nice. Her tilt-a-whirl small package on Rhea Ripley was well executed. Good work from Miranda Salinas here.

This is also the first time I have seen Rhea Ripley in action and I have to say that she did well for herself too as she showcased her in-ring skills. Her running big boot to the corner on Miranda Salinas looked devastating as well as her running front missile dropkick to the corner and her her roundhouse kick. Good work from Rhea Ripley here.

Rhea Ripley wins this match with a full nelson slam on Miranda Salinas and after the match, the referee grabs both Rhea Ripley’s and Miranda Salinas’ hand as he raises Rhea Ripley’s hand and declares her the winner.

Excellent work from Sarah Logan here.

Ayesha Raymond Vs. Toni Storm was a good match. Before the match, Toni Storm extended her hand towards Ayesha Raymond, but Ayesha Raymond refused to shake her hand as the match begins. Again, I like to see character development and Ayesha Raymond showed just that. Anyway, back to the match itself.

I have seen a little of Ayesha Raymond’s work in IPW:UK so I have a small idea of what she’s about and what she displayed here was impressive. Her sidewalk slam on Toni Storm looked devastating and the way she was playing towards the crowd got her good heel heat. Good work from Ayesha Raymond here.

I have seen Toni Storm’s work in PROGRESS and Stardom so I know what she’s about inside that ring and she showed who she is within this match. Her hip attacks on Ayesha Raymond looked like it hurt and she got to show her technical wrestling ability as well. Good work from Toni Storm here.

Dakota Kai Vs. Kavita Devi was a good match. Before the match, Dakota Kai extended her hand towards Kavita Devi where Kavita Debi shook her hand, but hold Dakota Kai’s hand too tight and Dakota Kai quickly got out of it afterward. Man, it must show how strong and powerful Kavita Devi is if she had that strong grip on Dakota Kai. Anyway, back to the match itself.

This is my first time seeing Kavita Devi and I have to say she is pretty athletic for a woman her size as I didn’t expect her to do what she did inside that ring. Her walking on the top rope arm drags on Dakota Kai were very impressive. Her military press slam on Dakota Kai looked devastating. Good performance from Kavita Devi here.

Candice LeRae, Taynara Conti Vs. Lacey Evans, Nicole Savoy Vs. Reina Gonzalez, and Kairi Sane Vs. Tessa Blanchard. Alright, let’s talk about Episode 4!

Episode 4 of the Mae Young Classic start off the show with highlights of the previous episodes of the Mae Young Classic as well as hyping up Renee Michelle Vs. Candice LeRae, Taynara Conti Vs. Lacey Evans, Nicole Savoy Vs. Reina Gonzalez, and Kairi Sane Vs. Tessa Blanchard. This is good as it shows what happened in the previous episodes and hyping up the matches for Episode 4 so let’s get to it!

We then get a vignette about Renee Michelle and it was good. Renee Michelle talked about how she has worked hard to get where she is today and she will show that women are just as capable as the men. She then said that she has everything to have what it takes to win this tournament.

Renee Michelle is well known for her work in Shine and is a rising star in the women’s wrestling scene. Mark out moment for Renee Michelle being in this tournament! I don’t think she will win the tournament, but I think she will have a good showcase for herself.

We then get a vignette about Candice LeRae and it was good. Candice LeRae talked about how that she will do whatever it takes to get wins and that she is a high-risk wrestler. She then talked about how people think that she’s here due to her husband, Johnny Gargano, but she’s here because she did it on her own and she wants this more than anything else.

Candice LeRae is well known for her work in SHIMMER and PWG as she is one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world today. Mark out moment for Candice LeRae being in this tournament! I expect her to go far in this tournament.

Candice LeRae Vs. Renee Michelle was a good match. Before the match, both women shook hands. Also, Johnny Gargano was in the crowd for this match! Mark out moment! He’s there to support his wife Candice LeRae in this match. Let’s see if Candice LeRae can make Johnny Gargano proud.

I have seen Renee Michelle’s work in Shine so I know what she can do inside the ring and she did pretty well for herself in this match. Her hangman’s facebuster and spin kick on Candice LeRae looked devastating. Good work from Renee Michelle here.

I have seen Candice LeRae’s work in SHIMMER and PWG so I know how much high risk she does inside the ring and she showed it here. Her springboard armdrag on Renee Michelle was beautifully executed and her running front missile dropkick on Renee Michelle looked devastating. Good work from Candice LeRae here.

Candice LeRae wins this match with a middle rope swinging neckbreaker on Renee Michelle and after the match, the referee grabs both Candice LeRae’s and Renee Michelle’s hand as he raises Candice LeRae’s hand and declares her the winner.

Good match and with that, Candice LeRae moves on to the second round of the Mae Young Classic.

We then get a vignette of Lacey Evans and it was good. Lacey Evans talked about how she was a former Marine who is now living her dream. She then talked about that she is not a pushover and she has worked hard to get to where she is today and she will prove it inside the ring.

Lacey Evans has been a trainee at the Performance Center for about a year and has competed in NXT numerous times before. Let’s see what she can do when the spotlight focuses on her more than before.

We then get a vignette of Taynara Conti and it was good. Taynara Conti talked about how she’s representing Brazil in this tournament and she is proud that she’s representing her country. She then talked about how she will use her years in fighting to show what she can do in the ring.

Taynara Conti is a trainee at the Performance Center for less than a year so let’s see what she can do on a national stage like this.

We then see Alexa Bliss in the crowd! Mark out moment! Well, she has some interest in this tournament and it’s great to see these WWE stars here to show that this tournament really means something so that’s great.

Taynara Conti Vs. Lacey Evans was a good match. Before the match, Lacey Evans extended her hand towards Taynara Conti, but Taynara Conti bow to her instead. Well, it’s not really a disrespect to bow as it is a sign of respect so that’s something different and unique. Anyway, let’s talk about the match.

This is the first time I have seen Taynara Conti in the ring and she did well for herself in this match. Her judo throws on Lacey Evans were extremely impressive and her swinging spinning side slam on Lacey Evans looked devastating. Good work from Taynara Conti here.

I have seen Lacey Evans compete in NXT a couple of times and she has gotten a lot better since the last time I saw her in the ring. Her swinging neckbreaker following by a handstand splash on Taynara Conti was innovative. Her rope-aided handstand Bronco buster on Taynara Conti looked devastating. Good work from Lacey Evans here.

Lacey Evans wins this match with the fireman’s carry dropped into a cradle back-to-belly piledriver on Taynara Conti and after the match, the referee grabs both Lacey Evans’ and Taynara Conti’s hand as he raises Lacey Evans’ hand and declares her the winner. Lacey Evans then extended her hand towards Taynara Conti, but Taynara Conti slapped it away as she left. I guess Taynara Conti wasn’t happy that she lost to Lacey Evans in this match. I sense a rematch between the two down the line, but we’ll see.

Good match and with that, Lacey Evans moves on to the second round of the Mae Young Classic as she will face Toni Storm which should be an interesting match.

We then get a vignette about Reina Gonzalez and it was good. Reina Gonzalez talked about how she’s a second generation wrestler as her father is Ricky Gonzalez. She then talked about how she’s a powerhouse and once she gets in that ring, people will know who she is.

Reina Gonzalez is a trainee at the Performance Center for less than a year, but has that training with her father, Ricky Gonzalez. Let’s see what she’s made of.

We then get a vignette about Nicole Savoy and it was good. Nicole Savoy talked about how she is a submission based wrestler, but when she doesn’t do submissions, she loves to hit a lot of throws to her opponents as she found it fun to do. She then said she loves to talk trash and she’s here to prove herself that she is one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world.

Nicole Savoy is known for her work in SHIMMER as she is one of the most dangerous women’s wrestlers in the world today. Mark out moment for Nicole Savoy being in this tournament! I expect her to do well in this tournament even though I don’t see her winning it.

Nicole Savoy Vs. Reina Gonzalez was a good match. Before the match, Nicole Savoy extended her hand towards Reina Gonzalez, but Reina Gonzalez refused to shake her hand as the match starts. Well, nice to see that some character development with Reina Gonzalez so that’s nice to see. Let’s talk about the match.

This is the first time I have seen Reina Gonzalez in the ring and she did pretty well for herself in this match. Her lariat and sidewalk slam on Nicole Savoy looked devastating. The way she applied the reverse Boston crab on Nicole Savoy was something you don’t normally see in women’s wrestling so that was cool. Good work from Reina Gonzalez here.

I have seen Nicole Savoy’s work in SHIMMER before so I know what she can do in that ring and she displayed her talents here in this match. The way she reversed Reina Gonzalez’s pop-up powerbomb into a hurricanrana was well executed. The way she tried to apply an octopus stretch on Reina Gonzalez while Reina Gonzalez had her in the fireman’s carry was cool to see. Good work from Nicole Savoy here.

Nicole Savoy wins this match with a cross armbar on Reina Gonzalez and after the match, the referee grabs both Nicole Savoy’s and Reina Gonzalez’s hand as he raises Nicole Savoy’s hand and declares her the winner.

Good match and with that, Nicole Savoy moves on the second round of the Mae Young Classic to face Candice LeRae which should be a great match.

We then get a vignette about Tessa Blanchard and it was good. Tessa Blanchard talked about how she is a different person when she is in the ring and she doesn’t want to be handed anything because she wants to prove to herself that her last name doesn’t matter and she’s her own woman. She then said that she’s going into the ring and prove herself to the world.

Tessa Blanchard is known for her work in Stardom and SHIMMER as she is one of the rising stars in the women’s wrestling world today. Mark out moment for Tessa Blanchard being in this tournament! I don’t think she will win the tournament, but I expect her to have a great showcase for herself here.

We then get a vignette about Kairi Sane and it was good. Kairi Sane talked about how she is the only representative from Japan in this tournament and she’s here to showcase her style to the world. She then said that she plans to win the Mae Young Classic and mark her name in the history books.

Kairi Sane is known for her work in Stardom as Kairi Hojo as she is one of the best women’s wrestlers in the world today. Mark out moment for Kairi Sane being in this tournament! I could see her winning this tournament and go all the way through.

We then see Shinsuke Nakamura in the crowd! Mark out moment! Nice to see Shinsuke Nakamura appear here for this show as he’s here to see his country representative, Kairi Sane, in this match.

Kairi Sane Vs. Tessa Blanchard was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Before the match, both women shook hands.

I have seen Tessa Blanchard’s work in Stardom and SHIMMER so I know what she can do the ring and she showcased her skills in this match. Her superkick to Kairi Sane’s shin which made Kairi Sane lose her balance followed by the double knee facebreaker to the corner looked devastating. Her running dropkick and running European uppercut on Kairi Sane’s back when she was on the ropes looked painful as heck. Her diving senton on Kairi Sane was perfectly executed. Excellent performance from Tessa Blanchard here.

I have seen Kairi Sane’s work in Stardom so I know how excellent she is inside that ring as she showed her Japanese strong style in this match. Her spear on Tessa Blanchard looked devastating as it almost looked like it killed Tessa Blanchard. Her running sliding forearm smash to the corner on Tessa Blanchard looked impactful and her diving forearm smash on Tessa Blanchard looked like it knocked out Tessa Blanchard. Excellent work from Kairi Sane here.

Kairi Sane wins this match with a diving elbow drop on Tessa Blanchard and after the match, the referee grabs both Kairi Sane’s and Tessa Blanchard’s hand as he raises Kairi Sane’s hand and declares her the winner. Kairi Sane and Tessa Blanchard then both hugged each other to show sportsmanship towards another. That was a nice scene at the end as both women had an excellent match so hands off to both women.

Excellent match and with that, Kairi Sane moves on the second round of the Mae Young Classic to face Bianca Belair which should be an interesting match.

Overall, good shows for Episodes 1 to 4 for the Mae Young Classic. The next set of shows will contain the second round, quarter-finals, and semi-finals of the Mae Young Classic. Looking forward to that. Women’s Wrestling!
