205 Live 10/31/17 Review: Fright Night Fatal Four-Way

205 Live on October 31, 2017, was a great show. 205 Live is a show where the cruiserweights take center stage as they will risk their bodies to entertain us wrestling fans. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a video package highlighting the feud between Akira Tozawa and Drew Gulak for the past few months. This is good as it shows what happened between these two for the past few months for those who have missed it or forgot about it. Well produced video package here.

Akira Tozawa Vs. Drew Gulak was a great match. After Drew Gulak made his entrance, he cut a promo on where his people at as everyone else is probably cheering for Akira Tozawa with his chants. He then said that he will beat Akira Tozawa and end his chants once and for all. He then talked about Halloween and how he can make Halloween better so he decided to show that with a PowerPoint Presentation.

His first slide talked about how there should be no more candy as it’s bad for kids so instead of candy, it should be sweet potatoes. His second slide said that there should no trick or treating since it’s like a chant and there should be no chants. He was then about to show slide 3, but then he was interrupted by Akira Tozawa as the match began to start. Dang it Akira Tozawa, I wanted to see the rest of Drew Gulak’s PowerPoint Presentation for a better Halloween! Anyway, enough about that. Let’s talk about the match itself.

The way Drew Gulak was working on the throat on Akira Tozawa throughout the match was great in-ring psychology. Akira Tozawa’s suicide dive on Drew Gulak was well executed. Great work from both men here.

The ending of the match came when Akira Tozawa hit Drew Gulak with a diving senton for the pin and win. A good win for Akira Tozawa as he got revenge over Drew Gulak. I don’t know if this is the end of the feud, but it is, they end off with a great match. If not, I want to see more. Ah! Ah! Ah! Ah!

Great match and I want to see if this feud will continue after this or not.

We then get a recap of what happened last week when Gentleman Jack Gallagher and The Brian Kendrick told Cedric Alexander that he doesn’t need Rich Swann as he should think about the decision. This is good as it shows what happened last week and it ties into the next segment which I will talk about next.

The backstage segment between Rich Swann and Cedric Alexander was good. Rich Swann was getting for his match as Cedric Alexander came in and told Rich Swann that he can’t believe that The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher told him to ditch his own friend as Rich Swann didn’t care. Cedric Alexander then told Rich Swann that The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher called him a clown where Rich Swann responded by saying so which made Cedric Alexander tell him that they’re not going to stop until they stand up for themselves. Cedric Alexander then said that if The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher want a clown, they’ll give them one as he offers Rich Swann a clown nose as Rich Swann agreed.

It seems like Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann have some plan for The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher so let’s see what they can come with. Good backstage segment here.

The backstage promo that Mustafa Ali cut was good. Mustafa Ali talked about how when he was a kind, he had a hard time for Halloween, but he learned one thing, and that was to always get candy.

Mustafa Ali is in the Halloween mood, but let’s see if he can get the victory in the four-way match later on the show. Good backstage promo here.

We then get a recap of what happened on Monday Night Raw when Kalisto defeated Drew Gulak and Enzo Amore attacked Kalisto after the match as it will be Enzo Amore Vs. Kalisto for the WWE Cruiserweight Championship at Survivor Series. The rematch is set so let’s see if Kalisto can regain his WWE Cruiserweight Championship from Enzo Amore.

Rich Swann Vs. The Brian Kendrick was a great match. Rich Swann was playing as a clown in this match and despite that, he can still move in the ring with that costume.

The Brian Kendrick did great to try to take down Rich Swann by using the help of Gentleman Jack Gallagher help distract Rich Swann to have The Brian Kendrick take advantage of him. His double underhook suplex on Rich Swann from the top rope was impressive. Rich Swann did great on his own while having Cedric Alexander have his back as Cedric Alexander took care of Gentleman Jack Gallagher when Gentleman Jack Gallagher was trying to help The Brian Kendrick. His somersault dive on The Brian Kendrick was beautifully executed and his spin kick on The Brian Kendrick looked devastating. Great work from both men here.

The ending of the match came when Rich Swann hit the corkscrew 450 splash on The Brian Kendrick for the pin and win. A good win for Rich Swann as he and Cedric Alexander got the better of The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher once again. Can you handle this?!

Great match and I want to see how The Brian Kendrick and Gentleman Jack Gallagher will response back to Cedric Alexander and Rich Swann after their loss here.

The backstage promo that Gran Metalik cut was good. Gran Metalik was speaking in Spanish as he talked about how Halloween is also the Day of the Dead for his culture and the spirits will be watching him as he will make sure that he will make them proud.

Gran Metalik is looking to win to honor his culture so let’s see if he can get the job done coming up next. Good backstage promo here.

Mustafa Ali Vs. Gran Metalik Vs. Tony Nese Vs. Ariya Daivari in a Fright Night Fatal Four-Way match was excellent. Mark out moment! As Ariya Daivari was making his way to the ring, he cut a promo on how the cruiserweight division was nothing until a certain man arrived and that man was Enzo Amore. He then made fun of the WWE Universe and he was speaking in his language until he was interrupted by Mustafa Ali as everyone else made their entrance to the ring to start the match. Nice to see Ariya Daivari getting more mic time on the show. Alright, let’s talk about the match itself.

The exchange that Mustafa Ali and Gran Metalik had during this time was a lot of fun to watch as they were countering move after move with each other. I would definitely like to see a singles match between the two down the line. Tony Nese and Ariya Daivari did their part here too as they tried to ruin the Halloween spirit in this match by assaulting Mustafa Ali and Gran Metalik. The way Ariya Daivari threw Mustafa Ali to the turnbuckle looked painful as heck.

There was a spot in the match where Gran Metalik hit a sunset flip powerbomb on Tony Nese while Tony Nese did a superplex on Mustafa Ali and Ariya Daivari came out of nowhere and hit Mustafa Ali with a frog splash so that was cool to see. There was another spot where Gran Metalik did a back body drop from the top rope on Tony Nese as he fell through a table with candy corn on top of it which must have hurt, but not too much since the candy corn is not thumbtacks. Excellent work from all of these men here.

The ending of the match came when Mustafa Ali hit a leg drop on while riding a broomstick on Ariya Daivari for the pin and win. Well, that was an innovative way to win the match and nice to see Mustafa Ali getting a win here. Hopefully, this win will lead to something for Mustafa Ali, but we’ll see.

Excellent match and hope to see Mustafa Ali going somewhere after this victory here.

Overall, great show for the forty-ninth episode of 205 Live. It’s great to see the cruiserweights with more focus and attention here and it’s only going to get better from here. Looking forward to it.
