on

Mae Young Classic Episodes 5 to 8 were good to excellent shows. Mae Young Classic will showcase 32 women’s wrestlers from around the world compete in a single elimination tournament in order to become the best women’s wrestler in the world. I’ll be reviewing these four episodes into one review. Let’s break it down:

Episode 5 of the Mae Young Classic start off the show with a video package highlighting Episode 1 to 4 as well as hyping up Rachel Evers Vs. Abbey Laith, Serena Deeb Vs. Piper Niven, Mercedes Martinez Vs. Princesa Sugehit, and Bianca Belair Vs. Kairi Sane. This is good as it shows what happened in the previous episodes as well as hyping up the matches for this show. Well produced video package here.

We then see all of the sixteen remaining women in the Mae Young Classic as they stand next to the Mae Young Classic trophy as only one woman can become this year’s Mae Young Classic winner. Round 2 has started so let’s get to it.

We then get a vignette about Abbey Laith and Rachel Evers and it was good. Abbey Laith talked about how she’s been wrestling around the world for eight years and is finally here in the WWE as she never thought she would make it this far. Rachel Evers talked about how she has all the athletic ability in the world to be the best and she knows that Abbey Laith has more experience than her, but that won’t stop her.

Abbey Laith then said that Rachel Evers is talented, but she’s not afraid to face Rachel Evers in the ring. Rachel Evers then said that she’ll bring her A-game to Abbey Laith as Abbey Laith said she’ll do whatever it takes to win. Rachel Evers said that she’s ready to win as Abbey Laith said that no one can stop her.

Nice to see these two women giving their thoughts on each other before their match against one another. It should be a very interesting contest. Let’s talk about it.

Rachel Evers Vs. Abbey Laith was an excellent match. Mark out moment! Before the match, both women shook hands. Kassius Ohno was also at the crowd supporting Rachel Evers! Mark out moment! Nice to see some support for Rachel Evers as Kassius Ohno did help train Rachel Evers so that’s cool. Anyway, back to the match itself.

Rachel Evers did excellent in this match as she was trying to prove that she is capable of being a great women’s wrestler despite being inexperienced. Her cutter and running senton on Abbey Laith were impressive to watch. Her super scoop powerslam on Abbey Laith was extremely impressive. Excellent performance from Rachel Evers here.

Abbey Laith also did excellent in this match. Her spinning armdrag on Rachel Evers to start off the show was unexpected as it was done very quickly so that was cool to see. The way Abbey Laith took Rachel Ever’s bicycle kick and hit her back with her own bicycle kick as they fell down after their bicycle kicks on each other was fun to watch. Excellent performance from Abbey Laith here.

Abbey Laith wins this match with a powerbomb followed by the Alligator Clutch (Double leg trap rana) on Rachel Evers and after the match, the referee grabs both Abbey Laith’s and Rachel Evers’ hand as he raises Abbey Laith’s hand and declares her the winner. They both shook hands and hugged each other which was nice to see.

Excellent match and with that, Abbey Laith moves on to the quarter-finals of the Mae Young Classic.
