NXT 11/8/17 Review: Chaos, Pain, and Shock The System

NXT on November 8, 2017 was a good show that is building up NXT War Games next week. Let’s break it down:

We start off the show with a recap of what happened last week when Undisputed Era interrupted the NXT Tag Team Championship match between SAnitY and Authors of Pain as Roderick Strong came in and took out Undisputed Era which led to William Regal announcing the match between the three teams in War Games. This is good as it shows what happened last week and it’s hyping up the match at NXT War Games. Let’s get this show on the road!

Heavy Machinery Vs. Chris Payne & Sean Maluta was a good tag team squash match. Chris Payne and Sean Maluta have made appearances on NXT! Mark out moment for both! Cool to see them here even though they’re here to get squashed. Hope to see them get signed one day.

Chris Payne & Sean Maluta did what they could against Heavy Machinery, but it wasn’t enough as Heavy Machinery hit The Compactor (Piggyback falling powerslam) on Chris Payne on top of Sean Maluta for the pin and win. Another win for Heavy Machinery and it’s only a matter of time before they get another shot at the NXT Tag Team Championships. Shakes and weights!

Good tag team squash match and I can’t wait to see more of Heavy Machinery in NXT.

The backstage interview with Ember Moon by Christy St. Cloud was good. Ember Moon talked about what Mercedes Martinez said to her and if she believes what she said, then she will face her next week and show her why she is the most dangerous woman in the NXT Women’s division.

It seems like Ember Moon is calling out Mercedes Martinez to a match next week. Let’s see if Mercedes Martinez accepts the match. Good backstage interview here.

Just a reminder that Play by Marmozets is a theme for NXT War Games and it’s a good song. NXT War Games is next week and I can’t wait for the show. Should be great.

Kairi Sane Vs. Billie Kay was a good women’s match. After what happened last week between the two, it led to this match and it was fun to watch as they’re building up the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT War Games.

Billie Kay did well in this match to rough up Kairi Sane for Peyton Royce. Her backbreaker rack on Kairi Sane looked painful. Kairi Sane did well in this match too as she’s looking to become the next NXT Women’s Champion. Her running forearm smash to Billie Kay to the corner looked devastating. Good work from both women here.

The ending of the match came when Kairi Sane hit Billie Kay with the diving elbow drop for the pin and win. A good win for Kairi Sane as she’s getting momentum heading into NXT War Games.

Good women’s match and I’m looking forward to the NXT Women’s Championship match at NXT War Games.

The backstage segment between William Regal and Kassius Ohno was good. William Regal was talking on the phone with someone until Kassius Ohno came in and told him that he should be back in the NXT Championship picture since he’s been on a roll as of late. He then said he wants a match at NXT War Games with someone where William Regal asked who as Kassius Ohno replied with Lars Sullivan as he wants to teach the man a lesson. William Regal then accept the match as Kassius Ohno left being happy.

It seems like we got ourselves another match at NXT War Games where it will be Kassius Ohno Vs. Lars Sullivan. That should be an interesting matchup and that should be a good test for Lars Sullivan. Let’s see if Lars Sullivan can take down Kassius Ohno at NXT War Games. Good backstage segment here.

We then get a video package about War Games and the history of it with guys like Goldust, Arn Anderson, and Booker T talked about the match and what it means. Nice to see some background history on War Games for those who have never seen it before. They’re in for a treat as Dusty Rhodes and WCW lives on.

The backstage sitdown interview with Andrade “Cien” Almas and Zelina Vega was good. Zelina Vega talked about how she wouldn’t be successful as she is if she gave out her strategies and plans to the world as only one person knows her well and that is Andrade “Cien” Almas. Drew McIntyre told her that Andrade “Cien” Almas isn’t a man to face him directly, but he did, he just wasn’t ready for it. Zelina Vega then said that she has known Andrade “Cien” Almas for seven years as people may have gotten wins over the old Andrade “Cien” Almas, but the new Andrade “Cien” Almas is unstoppable. Andrade “Cien” Almas then spoke in Spanish and then eventually said that no one can beat the new Andrade “Cien” Almas and he will be the next NXT Champion.

It seems like Andrade “Cien” Almas is feeling confident heading into NXT War Games against Drew McIntyre for the NXT Championship. I don’t know if he will at NXT War Games, but I expect him to put up a great fight against Drew McIntyre. Good backstage sitdown interview here.

Just a reminder that Executioner’s Tax (Swing of the Ax) by Power Trip is a theme for NXT War Games and it’s a good song. NXT War Games is next week and I can’t wait for the show. It should be great.

Cezar Bononi Vs. Velveteen Dream was a good squash match. Velveteen Dream will face Aleister Black at NXT War Games and this was a good squash match to showcase Velveteen Dream’s skills in the ring.

Cezar Bononi didn’t get any offense in this match as Velveteen Dream completely dominated Cezar Bononi as he finished him off with the rolling Death Valley Driver for the pin and win. A good win for Velveteen Dream as he is set for Aleister Black at NXT War Games.

After the match, Velveteen Dream cut a promo on how Aleister Black has him on his mind and at NXT War Games, he will make Aleister Black say his name. It seems like Velveteen Dream is focused heading into NXT War Games against Aleister Black. We’ll see if Aleister Black will say Velveteen Dream’s name at NXT War Games.

Good squash match and good promo as I’m interested to see how the match between Aleister Black and Velveteen Dream will play out at NXT War Games.

We then get a recap of what happened three weeks ago when Ember Moon defeated Ruby Riot and Sonya Deville to qualify in the NXT Women’s Championship match at NXT War Games. This is good as it shows how Ember Moon qualified in the match and it ties into the next match which I will talk about next.

The segment between Ruby Riot and Sonya Deville at the Performance Center earlier in the show was good. Ruby Riot talked about how she’s waiting to get recovered from her ankle injury as the doctor told her that she has to wait two weeks to recover as Sonya Deville came in and told Ruby Riot that this wouldn’t have happened if she just tapped out as Ruby Riot questioned why is Sonya Deville here.

Sonya Deville told Ruby Riot that she’s here because Ruby Riot didn’t tap out when she should have and because of her, she’s not in the NXT Women’s Championship match at NXT War Games. Ruby Riot then told Sonya Deville that she should have broken it when she had the chance because she challenged Sonya Deville to a match once she heals as Sonya Deville agreed as she left.

It seems like we got a feud here with Ruby Riot and Sonya Deville. Nice to see more feuds within the NXT Women’s division which I like to see. Can’t wait to see that match once Ruby Riot recovers. Good segment here.

The backstage segment between Street Profits and God-Gifted Athletes was good. Street Profits were backstage as they are glad to be at Full Sail University as a man with a suit came by as Angelo Dawkins complimented him as he looks good, but he’s missing one thing as Montez Ford offered him a cup as the man with a suit left. Another man came by carrying a suit as Street Profits stopped him and asked him who the suit was for as he replied Tino Sabbatelli as Montez Ford said that he’s Tino Sabbatelli as he took the suit.

Street Profits then took a look at the suit until God-Gifted Athletes came in as Tino Sabbatelli told Street Profits that this suit is his and it’s worth $5000. Riddick Moss then told Street Profits to stop touching their stuff. Angelo Dawkins then told God-Gifted Athletes to meet them in the ring as God-Gifted Athletes accepted the match as they left.

It seems like the match between the two has been settled as Street Profits and God-Gifted Athletes will eventually collide. Glad to see these two teams in a feud so let’s see how the match will turn out. Good backstage segment here.

We then get an announcement that next week, it will be Ember Moon Vs. Mercedes Martinez and Drew McIntyre and Andrade “Cien” Almas will go face-to-face. Should be an interesting show next week. Looking forward to it.

Roderick Strong Vs. Adam Cole was a great match for what it was. Roderick Strong had a chance to join Undisputed Era, but turned them down as he now faces Adam Cole one on one.

Roderick Strong tried to prove that he can win on his own. His running high knee to the corner followed by an Olympic slam on Adam Cole was a nice combination. His side slam backbreaker on Adam Cole on the top turnbuckle looked painful as heck. Adam Cole tried to get revenge on Roderick Strong for not joining Undisputed Era. His superkick and his vertical suplex onto a knee looked devastating. Great work by both men here.

As Roderick Strong was about to pin Adam Cole after the side slam backbreaker on the top turnbuckle, Undisputed Era came in and pulled Roderick Strong out of the ring which led to a no contest. Man, a shame that the match ended the way it did, but it protected both men so I can understand. Hope to see a rematch between the two down the line.

Undisputed Era then checked on Adam Cole to see if he was okay as it led to Authors of Pain, Roderick Strong, and SAnitY joining in the ring at the same time as the three teams began to brawl. Authors of Pain, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly, Eric Young, and Killian Dain were fighting outside of the ring as Alexander Wolfe hit a somersault dive on Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly, and Eric Young. Adam Cole then hit a bicycle kick on Roderick Strong in the ring, but then Roderick Strong eventually got back up and hit a superplex on Adam Cole to the outside on Authors of Pain, SAnitY, and Undisputed Era! Mark out moment!

That was an awesome spot and that was an excellent way to end the show as it really makes you want to see the War Games match at NXT War Games which I’m super psyched now. I can’t wait.

Great match and excellent post-match as I can’t wait for the War Games match at NXT War Games.

Overall, a good show that is building up NXT War Games next week. Next week, we will get Ember Moon Vs. Mercedes Martinez and a face-to-face with Drew McIntyre and Andrade “Cien” Almas which should be interesting to see. Looking forward to it. NXT! NXT! NXT!
